How the BBC turned a catastrophic crisis into a drama about global warming
- Listeners given a bogus message on Radio 4’s Today programme
Listeners to Radio 4’s Today programme were given an unmistakable but totally bogus message last week: that catastrophic storms such as Typhoon Haiyan are linked to global warming – and are set to increase.
The same claim, which has no scientific basis, was echoed by David Cameron, who said there was ‘growing evidence’ that warming was responsible for storms.
Interviewing Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank, presenter Evan Davis announced that climate change has made the Philippine islands ‘one of the most fragile parts of the planet’ and asked what would the world do if more frequent storms forced its population to abandon them.
‘That’s a great question,’ Kim replied. In his view, rising seas caused by global warming would make not just islands but the Thai capital Bangkok uninhabitable ‘within the next 20 to 30 years’.
The response of Davis – with the full weight and authority of the BBC’s morning news flagship behind him – was to muse: ‘If we don’t invest in the prevention of climate change, we’d better invest in border control.’
Just who has been feeding Evan Davis these lies, this bogus science?
Could it be English graduate and the BBC’s environmental analyst Roger Harrabin?
This year is likely to be among the top 10 warmest on record, according to the World Meteorological Organization.
It continues a pattern of high temperatures blamed directly on man-made climate change.
The president of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, told BBC News that warming could no longer be ignored.
He urged action to reduce emissions to minimise the likelihood of disasters like Typhoon Haiyan, which has claimed thousands of lives in the Philippines.

Rising sea levels and warmer seas will create conditions for ever-stronger tropical storms. #TyphoonHaiyan http://www.gfdl.noaa.gov/global-warming-and-hurricanes …
Look on the bright side.
Australia refused to send its Energy Minister to the Climate Change talks in Poland this weekend – the reason (snub) given is that he is too busy scrapping all the Green nonsense in OZ.
Meanwhile Japan has now reneged from the carbon limits agreed many years ago. Dumping the Kyoto Agreement – gotta love that !
No matter how much whingeing and whining, no matter how many lies from the BBC, DEC, DECC and the mainstream ignorant politicians from Cameron downwards, Poland will be an abject failure, just like Copenhagen and everything since.

constant 5live drip drip all day too, “the DEC says…..”
wtf does the DEC know about climate science?

But what else can you expect from Cameron? Either he writes the policy for the BBC or they write his. I am never sure which.

I heard the Phillipino rep for “climate boiling” on Today earlier in the week.
Dis he do his “hunger strike”…or was it a day in the 5:2 diet, as shown by Frankie Boyle?
My point is that he was in Warsaw when Today managed to catch his tears…rather a long way from doing some good back home.
Did HIS airmiles cause the typhoon…or was it Jon Snows last year in Washington…then Durban..then Montevideo…etc, etc?
Finally-did the BBC say that the DEC were meeting in Warsaw too…what?…at the same time and place as the climate change spookies?…either I heard it wrong or its s Gang Show Jamboree of shroud waving and begging bowls for this toxic mix of “charity” and crap global warming “science”.
What`s the chances of some synchronicity here?…Jung would be pleased!

It suits climate scientists that politicians from the main parties have signed up to Green issues and it suits governments that climate science is “settled” so that they can raise taxes.
The BBC’s drip-drip BS will not be countered by anyone from those two groups.

The Beeb nearly sent me to distraction repeating the untruth about Hainan on a metronomic frequency. The Corporation really should consider getting rid of the truly awful Andrew Marr who’s show has become a rather odd mix of fawning interviews by AM of celebs and the occasional political interview. The reviewers of the papers this morning had little or no idea about CAGW despite the fact that the BBC had been quite level headed during the week. I understand that the solid Gavin Esler has fallen out with fellow bien pensant Ian Katz for his ruining of Newsnight. Time for a promotion to the 9:00 am slot methinks.

David Cameron said there was ‘growing evidence’ that warming was responsible for storms.
Vote UKIP, because there is no longer any evidence that there is warming.
Storminess may increase or decrease, that is dependent on temperature differentiation, but there are no useful correlations between Hurricanes and the calibration of carbon dioxide warming, solar irradiance, cloud albedo or any basic aspects of climate science.
It could be used to impress natives in a primitive civilisation or an upper class twit like Cameron.
The Australia and Canadian equivalent of the Tories have intelligent Prime Ministers, the fucking Tories chose Cameron over Davies.

“AUTHOR SAYS SOME ARE ‘DESPERATE’ TO BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING FOR THIS REASON”
[Excerpt]:-
“Christopher Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the author of ‘Red Hot Lies: How Global Warming Alarmists Use Threats, Fraud, and Deception to Keep You Misinformed’, said that some people’s belief in man-made global warming goes back to the same ‘long-proved human instinct’ to assign blame that led to witch trials throughout history.”

A couple of days ago Radio 4 were pushing the CO2 propaganda on The World Today. It seems there has been a study which claims the CO2 created by nasty humans is turning the oceans more acidic by turning CO2 in the water into carbonic acid and killing coral reefs and weakening the ability of crustaceans to form shells properly. The “expert” pointed out that shallow sea volcanic vents, which also pump out vast amounts of CO2 are known to kill different corals as they get closer and closer to the vents.
He failed completely to mention that as you get closer and closer to the vents the water gets hotter and hotter and hotter until it reaches boiling point, but that would have no effect on delicate corals now, would it.
The “expert” was asked if the acidification could be countered by adding alkalines to the oceans in an attempt to reduce the increases. Back came an answer to the effect that the oceans were so massively vast that such efforts by puny, insignificant humans would make absolutely no difference whatsoever. He didn’t seem to see the irony of his answer at all.
Puny, insignificant humans can allegedly damage the oceans by acidifying them but those same puny, insignificant humans couldn’t possibly do anything significant enough to counteract the damage they had allegedly caused.
One thing puzzles me about the claims about harming crustacean shells. In the ancient past, when the oceans were much warmer, as was the earth’s atmosphere, and levels of CO2 were also higher how on earth did the Ammonites manage to create shells which reached the size of lorry wheels?
There’s nothing like a quick Man Made Global Warming story thrown in at the end of a programme in order to frighten the children at the end of th4 day, is there.
