This short segment from the Simon Mayo film review show (14:41) perfectly encapsulates the mindset of our betters in the BBC…and why the NHS fails:
They are discussing ‘Anchorman 2’ with Will Ferrell when Mayo gets onto the subject of the US and UK news broadcasters….
‘We have the BBC [hurray!]…..we don’t have your Fox News….do you think we are missing out?’ [Said of course in tone that suggests that is really quite funny thing to say…so very ridiculous!]
Ferrell, Democrat, replies, when the laughter slows:
‘It depends on your belief systems…hahaha…personally no, you’re not missing out.’
Mayo continues:
‘There’s a key moment in the movie when you say ‘why don’t we give Americans what they want rather than what they should have‘…probably that conversation did happen [with Rupert Murdoch]...and is still happening.’
A perfect illustration of the patrician and arrogant BBC Liberal mind at work….‘We know what is best for you.’
Ferrell earlier said of the ‘Anchormen’ that they ‘Bang through life with no self awareness or emotional growth…they are at war with the way the world is with no idea that people think differently to the way they do.’
He thought he was describing a satire of ‘Fox News’….but that is in fact a good description of the BBC…stuck in the leftwing student politics of the 60’s, completely out of touch with real life and what people think and want.
The BBC deciding to provide us with what we ‘should have’ leads to this…from the Telegraph not the BBC….which has presumably decided you ‘shouldn’t need to know this’:
NHS on brink of crisis because it became ‘too powerful’ to criticise
Head of health and social care regulator David Prior says NHS has been damaged because criticism was not tolerated
THE NHS should not be treated as a “national religion” while millions of patients receive a “wholly unsatisfactory” service from GPs and hospitals, the official regulator has warned.
David Prior, the chairman of the Care Quality Commission, said the health service had been allowed to reach the brink of crisis because it was “too powerful” to be criticised.
He said parts of the NHS were “out of control” because honest debate about the weaknesses of the health service was not tolerated.
Mr Prior suggested that the “target culture” imposed by Labour a decade ago fundamentally damaged the culture of the NHS, creating a “chillingly defensive” operation in which the truth was often sacrificed.
“The whole culture of the NHS became so focused on targets that it obscured what real quality was about,” he said. “The voice of the patient wasn’t in those targets.”
The BBC has long hidden Labour’s deadly mistakes during its time in control of the NHS…and continues to do so as they tried to bury this bad news for Labour:
NHS Accuse Burnham of ‘Misreporting Facts For Political Gain’
Senior Official Says Shadow Health Secretary Misled Commons
A senior NHS official has accused Andy Burnham’s office of ”misinterpreting and misreporting” evidence about taxis being used as ambulances “in order to present a grossly inaccurate picture for the purposes of apparent political gain”.
The BBC’s politics…. getting in the way of the truth? and the result is…patients suffer.
The BBC website is now reporting the NHS item but it is so like the BBC with their blithe dismissal of complaints. (Alistair Campbell is not a person finding much sympathy here, but when he complained about Gilligan/Humphrys “sexing up” conversation he (as the PM’s representative) was told to put it through the standard complaints procedure.)

The BBC version of the story omits the reference to Labour’s targets.

NHS under Labour has effectively ruled out ‘Public Health’ prevention and put in place a ‘health prevention’ clause specifically ‘non-discriminatory’, ‘non-judgemental’ and ‘non-gender’ health problems that all require acute ‘discrimination’ (to recognise), ‘Judgemental’ (for advice), ‘Gender’ specific (natural differences men and woman) plus the wider problem of highly contagious diseases bought in by foreign national cannot now be ‘prevented’, or commented upon’ until a serious outbreak occurs, and that could be months, if not several months behind the actual curve of infection. In short the chances are now far higher of a HIV blood contamination than previously exposed before Labour made ‘discrimination’ a crime (which is a natural process for a Doctor to discriminate the reasons and causes of a disease). In short there is nothing to prevent an epidemic – as no Doctor wants to make that diagnosis (as it risks being unemployed). It will of course bankrupt the NHS and state eventually or lead to a taxpayer revolt where a new Socialist republic will ensure that everyone will have an equal opportunity to contract a serious and terminal disease (or be terminated at birth). Labout would prefer the latter as it’s cheaper and solves the Hospital beds ‘shortage’ and reduces ‘birth-rate’ considerably which then solves the housing crisis for the future Labourites who inherit the desolation of ‘lack of definition and lack of discrimination of contagious diseases’.

The BBC have always had the arrogant ‘We know what is best for you.’ attitude. The absolute horror that ripped through the BBC when it was told it would have to drag itself out of the 1920s and cater for the audience of the 1960s, especially the new teenage audience with their singles records and pop music. Oh how the BBC wailed at the thought of having to make the change from the Light Programme (the Light Entertainment Programme) and broadcast Radios One and Two instead. Radio One? Terrible, all those ignorant buffoons out there will want to listen to is the pop music they like whereas if the kept the Light Programme the BBC would still be able to slip decent classical music in between the pop music and in that way they could educate the masses in the finer things in life. And no, I’m not joking, words to that effect were actually used by the BBC to decry the move to what the upcoming new generation wanted.
Even more recently the BBC were horrified at the thought of Classic FM. How dare anybody suggest such a frightening concept. People would only want to listen to those bits of Classical Music that they liked and wanted to hear. What a scandalous idea, it meant people would miss out on other pieces of Classical Music of the kind played on Radio Three.
Commercial Radio? How Shocking, to succeed it would have to give people what they wanted and, as everybody is aware, auntie knows best, and the children should have to do as they are told, accept what Auntie gives them and must never be allowed to have the things they want. That would only spoil them and they would never grow up to be nice refined Gentlepeople who knew their station in life.
The last real shakeup of the BBC was fifty years ago and a new shakeup is long overdue to shake it out of it’s arrogant, condescending and outdated complacency.

A perfect illustration of the patrician and arrogant BBC Liberal mind at work….‘We know what is best for you.’ – Does’t that quote say exactly the opposite?
