BBC Radio 4 Today criticised for ‘left-wing tosh’ chosen by guest editor PJ Harvey
Listeners flood Twitter with complaints over musician’s selection of contributors for special edition of flagship radio programme, including Julian Assange and John Pilger
And here Paul Mason, who has fled the sinking ship, seems to be saying something unusual about the BBC……
Brilliant @PJHarveyUK edition of @BBCr4today demonstrating difference between "truth" and "editorial policy" – amazing how weird it feels
— Paul Mason (@paulmasonnews) January 2, 2014
@paulmasonnews @PJHarveyUK @BBCr4today Really? Did ed policy prevent you from telling the truth?
— Ravi Mattu (@ravmattu) January 2, 2014
@ravmattu @PJHarveyUK @BBCr4today two words: Gaza Flotilla – on balance yes; the whole truth
— Paul Mason (@paulmasonnews) January 2, 2014
Wonder just what he means?
The truth about the intentions and actions of those who attacked the Israelis?
PJ Harvey’s guest editorship did contain a lot of ‘student’ politics…but the thread running through it, about censorship, could and does apply to just about every aspect of the BBC’s output which is shaped and honed in every way to broadcast a ‘message’. The BBC doesn’t just do entertainment or news or sport , it is deeply committed to shaping society in the way it thinks it should be.
Maybe the BBC wasn’t Harvey’s intended target, and no doubt the BBC grandee who extended the invitation to her had no idea that there might be an unintended twist in the tale….but the cap fits.
That’s one hell of an accusation from Mason. He needs to explain himself.

Mason means the BBC was not left-wing enough for him.

Yes, I know what he means. My point is he needs to explain exactly why he thinks the BBC are manipulating the news, regardless of his worldview.

It is quite a statement.
One BBC ‘journalists’ have tended not to leave alone until properly ‘analysed’.

Mason is only saying out loud what most BBC journalists and producers think. Israel is evil, deliberately set out to murder people who were only trying to bring medicine and supplies that the evil Jews kept from the heroic Palestinians who never wanted to harm anyone.
This is the kind of thinking that makes people believe the BBC is pro-Zionist. And it’s inside the BBC as well as outside. The BBC keeps proving me right, but somehow it doesn’t make me feel any better.

I presume, BBC being by some very great margin, the highest payer/ biggest waster among broadcast media in this country that the halfwit Mason was sacked rather than resigned to spend more time with his family and pursue opportunities elsewhere..
Doesn’t seem to have diminished his self-regard though.
I’m luvving it, luvving it, luvving it

Do we know he was sacked? I thought he left to pursue, um, greener pastures. Or at least where there was less pressure on him to tone down the extremism.

Yes, Comrade MASON, ex-Father of the Chapel of BBC-NUJ ‘Newsnight’ branch, used the BBC licence tax to pursue his socialist agenda, with political endorsement from the top bureaucracy at BBC.

BBC is not a honest company since monitor, I dont trust them.

Mason is only voicing what those still at the BBC are feeling right now. As I just said on the other thread, you can bet that nearly all of them feel the exact same way today.
This tweet from Mason is going on the list. Even though he’s not with them anymore, you know it’s what they all believe. It’s actually quite chilling to think that, as blatantly biased as so much BBC broadcasting can be, they still mostly think they’re being held back.

One example is the upcoming annual “BBC Correspondents”predicting the coming years events.
Listened to it the last two years-wrong Pollyanna wishful thinking as orchestrated by the Godawful Stephen Sack`im..or is it Stephen Sucker?
Last years would have told us that Iran would get better, North Korea would do too…that the Euro would do nicely one Merckel got her mandate, that Putin would have a poor year-and of course Obamas “four more years” would allow him to make liberals hearts sing and resonate in a liberal. gun-free, NHS building, immigration-welcoming BBC heaven.
Lyse Douchette is a prime mover of this liberal flatulence as I recall.
Reckon there`ll be just a little censorship about all this though..but 2014 will be swell…just swell, as long as we have faith in Obama. let more immigrants in and stop bitching about Islam…oh, and pay out TV Licenses as well of course.

The Correspondents(Radio 4 8p.m tomorrow night).
1. Putin gets tough, shows the rest of the world how Rigbys killers needed to be treated.
2. Euro and the Europroject to collapse, Latvia and Ukraine to begin the end of them both.
3. Israel to scotch fake inducements to peace and target Shia nuclear types a bit quicker.
4. Scotland to stick two fingers up to the SNP..won`t help, but will shut the BBC up
5. Obama to reduce the USA to scorched earth liberal land, as Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter get influence for a decent alternative to him.
6. Balls to be the Labour corpse around the Socialist walking dead of 1997-2010, so they remain unelectable.
Sadly, had a dream about Jose Marinho pegging out….hope I`m wrong on that last one anyway!
Hope this saves us all wasting an hour with Suckoff and Douchette anyhoo.

He’s right, though, albeit not perhaps in the way he means:
Terrorists are referred to as ‘militants’ or ‘insurgents’.
Muslim massacres of Christians are called ‘sectarian clashes’.
‘Allahu Akbar’ is ‘an Islamic blessing’ or ‘a political slogan’.
Yep, that’s editorial policy censoring the truth right there.

paul mason is as far left as you can get for a former bbc journalist, his sickening left wing bias and that wobbly jaw of his on channel 4 news is repugnant, just look at his twitter feed and the company he keeps.all kinds of lefties and communists on his roll call,no wonder why the bbc got rid of him, even by there biased standards he is to far left for them, this guy has a hatred of centre right politics and ukip judging by his biased reporting on them, even by bbc standards he knew he had to tow the impartiality line to a certain extent,at channel 4 they dont follow them rules,he has found a home for in my opinion for the most left wing news organisation in the uk,but we cant do much about that because unlike at the bbc we are forced to pay a tv licence to listen to there bias.i reckon paul masons next stop in his journalism carreer will either be at russia today or al jazeera.you make me sick paul mason.

‘And here Paul Mason, who has fled the sinking ship’
The secret to good BBC critiquing…. timing.
Given how the BBC has handled Icetanic and its dubious role… On a blog about BBC self-censorship… Poetic.

I rarely watch Newsnight these days (for obvious reasons) but not long before Mason departed the BBC I remember seeing him giving his account of some economic issue or other to Paxman – little more than a student diatribe against capitalism, basically – when the camera briefly panned back and caught Paxo unawares. His face said it all, along the lines of: ‘WTF am I doing listening to this shite.’ Shortly afterwards, Mason was gone.

Paul Mason seems increasingly desperate these days. He imagined that he was a “big star” who would go onto big things at Channel four. But instead he is sinking without trace…
These were can expect plenty more “look at me!” tweets from him in future.

The sooner he fades into oblivion, the better.
