I have to admit I was suspicious that names weren’t prominent but pictures were and the guilty didn’t resemble the usual suspects. Reading further to find the names it was immediately obvious what was going on.
Can’t recall who or where, but grateful to whoever shared this, which I bookmarked and has been running on audio during tea breaks: http://www.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/house-of-commons-25732284
My attention was captured by an exchange at around 35′ to 39′ in, between two avowed Beebophiles, Lib Dem MP John Leech and David Elstein.
The latter claims the BBCphilia but is a passionate advocate of voluntary subscription. The MP was perplexed, as I imagine any would be who like guaranteed money deals no matter what, and may secretly be less sure of the value of their offering if subject to market forces.
However, this quote resonated, given some wondering, Mrs. Merton-style, what it is about the all powerful state medium that those in government like so much. ‘ Ministers now have a vested interest in maintaining the licence fee, as so much is paid for from it’
If true, and none there appeared to argue, the elephant of interest conflict in that room was pretty noticeable by no one bar Mr. Elstein acknowledging it.
At two and a half hours it’s a bit of an epic, but before popping it back on the favourites shelf for another time, a follow-up exchange was interesting, with the notion getting promoted that ‘quality’ from outside the BBC was being promoted by that from within the BBC. Literally, Game of Thrones would not happen without Sherlock inspiring programme makers.
I found that a stretch. On more than one count. There is a ton of great stuff on offer outside of the BBC, and people are finding and opting for it (having paid the BBC tithe first). And I am unsure £4Bpa is a great deal to get, as all they seem capable of referencing, Sherlock. Oddly Dr. Who was left out, as was Top Gear, but Strictly was (if whispered, as all realised that, popular it may be, ‘great’ TV it is not). Trying to shoehorn a few high-profile hours’ worth a month into some ‘creative catalyst’ magic brew that the loss of the BBC would devastate is hard to credit.

Just because a part of the UK which the BBC execs find massively important gets too much rain it’s a sign the whole earth is flooding !

And often the message is subliminal. You might want to ask if the BBC, an outrageously a publicly funded leader of the anti Murdoch coalition, let its position on News International contaminate its coverage of the Brooks trial today.
Describing Brooks’ acquittal on one charge, the BBC News said that this was because there was ‘insufficient evidence’. Every other broadcaster and newspaper has repeated the Judge’s words, …a verdict of “not guilty” had to be returned for Brooks…”I have decided that THERE IS NO CASE FOR MS BROOKS TO ANSWER…’ Presentationally somewhat different, I’d say.
And, charting Brooks’ journey to the top, the BBC told us of her contacts with Prime MinisterS. Guess which one they showed her with? As a clue it’s not the one who friendship was disclosed only yesterday and who we learned was her unofficial adviser.

“criticised the immigrants for failing to learn English, despite having lived in the UK for up to a decade, which cost the court up to £40,000 for interpreters during their trial”
up to a decade?, I have to have a meeting with local imams, next week there are two, one has lived here nearly 16 yrs and can hardly speak English at all.
a mosque speaker? … something is very VERY seriously wrong.
Most of these people can speak English , why they pretend not to, is simply to give the impression that being unable to communicate in the English language, means that by default they are unaware of the laws of the land and thus again by default innocent of any crimes committed.
BBC’s Daniel Sandford obviously doesn’t know the meaning of being tactful, complaining this evening that he can’t get a drink at the bar in his Kiev hotel for all the bodies lying there:
A swipe at Euro MEP’s here. I am not a great fan of MEP’s (who care little for this country, or have any intention of protecting the English democracy from the EU orthodoxy). As an example (from three MEP’s, I contacted), two replied and one was a Liberal MEP (a month later) a ‘pro feminist’ (ex Lords ‘gay rights’ activist) thought my ‘enquiry’ was bigoted – ‘contrary to the will of the UK and EU peoples’ etc. – but she did not ‘pretend’ the EU was entirely democratic either. A waste of time, like the BBC, where do these ‘robot’ responses come from…
My own response is this little interactive demonstration of just how useless a Liberal ‘robot’ can be. Ask any question here and see if you can get any ‘sensible answer’. http://snipurl.com/28lq5cx
Tomorrow’s BBC reviews of the morning newspapers are unlikely to mention the Mail – which attacks the Met Office for being totally wrong with its weather forecasting (“Winter will be drier than normal, especially in the West Country”), and the Telegraph, which says the worst of the flooding could have been prevented.
That is not the Labour/Green message so it will not be pushed.
Quisling Time going all around the houses discussing the recent flooding and building on flood plains. They are still to mention the bloody big elephant in the room as to why we have the need to build so many bloody new houses…..the accepted view of the panel its all the fault of a climate change, yawn…..slag off Thatcher cue rapturous applause …
Only turned it up when I saw Roger Scruton was about to speak….yet every time he did so, one of those “voiceless and discriminated against women of the Left” takled and shouted over whatever he was trying to say.
Must be getting instilled on the Common Purpose courses these days-the virtuous must shout over the infidels…Owen Jones Rules…
Gives me the creeps when one of our bravest intellectuals gets howled down by Labour clones and northern lesbian authors from the 70s.
A foretaste of Nuremburg before the trails I sense sometimes…
The Left nearly always interrupt everybody else on these programmes. This is partly because of they are narcissists, hearing any other opinion is painful for them, and partly because the Left and truth will always be enemies,
Marx said we should seek to change the world not understand it. All the narcissism and evil of the Left is contained within that little statement.
I am surprised Scruton appeared. It is pointless arguing with the media etc left. The only course open is to boycott all their shows. It will encourage them to assume everybody thinks like them. That way lies a real fall.
I remember that northern author writing a particularly unpleasant column after 9/11. In the Guardian I think. But it could have been the other liberal rag.
Turning water into whine….and piss by the time the BBC have drank themselves stupid on self-righteousness.
No mention of the E.U or Labours role under Smiffy and Barbara Young I note.
Anybody hear some landscape gardener blathering to Justin Webb after the 8am news on Today?
Her sole right to speak was due to a letter that she and a few dozen others from the Green Herd, wrote to the Telegraph.
Yet even with the 20/20 vision of hindsight…with her X Ray stereo spex (one lens Soviet Red, the other Nazi Grun)-the woman knew nothing, said nothing-just wanted more money to do up a Borough Gardens as far as I could tell.
Justin is thick at the best of times-and between them this was a wonderful summation of grant trawling Dimmock-lite with Oxbridge prep-school arts graduate ickiness re worms, dirt and water etc.
Thankfully the weather is nicer now-so let`s hope Jon Snow and Justin Webb etal can don their Cissie and Ada drag outfits and bitch privately(urgh!) over the garden fence about the weather, lack of immigration, not enough EU croissants and the chavs not being worth the airmiles they all ceaselessly burn up , for our educating.
I`d do this as a regular feature on MY satire…but zeez eez never funny to the Left at the BBC…they will not be mocked…way too serious for that, unless it`s Jesus and the Jews….
Got to lose this cancerous blight on our minds haven`t we?…and fast!
“Inexcusable: Leading abuse charity demands apology from Labour trio with links to vile paedophile group.
“Harriet Harman, Jack Dromey and Patricia Hewitt held senior positions at National Council for Civil Liberties before rising to top of the Labour party.
“The NCCL was an ‘affiliate’ of the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE), whose members may have abused children on an ‘industrial scale.’
“Abuse charity NAPAC demands apology for links with ‘disgusting’ group.”
By GUY ADAMS and MICHAEL SEAMARK.
“Surprise, surprise, the BBC has ignored our expose of Labour’s links to a child sex scandal. QUENTIN LETTS imagines its reaction if those involved were Tory.”
[Opening excerpt]-
“For three days the Mail has published shocking details about how leading Labour politicians once supported a vile group that campaigned to legalise child sex. They include Labour’s current deputy leader, Harriet Harman. Yet, astonishingly, the BBC has not touched the story — presumably because those involved are from the Left. “But what if the three politicians had been Tories? QUENTIN LETTS imagines how things would have been so very different.”
Why is it that BBC news are so anxious to trumpet these dubious ‘record’ weather statistic such as ‘wettist winter since…’?
Is Team GB up for a gold medal in weather – or could it be that an agenda is at play?
Seriously, these are not the Last Days. There is no impending weather apocalypse just round the corner – not in the Thames Flood Plain, not even on the Somerset Levels.
Meanwhile consider this level of dumbing down : BBC News Channel this morning (I paraphrase slightly) ‘Hey weather girl, you’re Scottish, did you watch the curling’.
(Beeboids won’t have seen this, as it’s in ‘Daily Mail’.)
“Could Met Office have been more wrong? Just before floods, secret report told councils: Winter will be ‘drier than normal’ – especially in West Country! ”
Richard Anderson, a BBC business reporter, gives readers of the BBC website background on all you need to know about UK debt and deficit. In the part on government borrowing Anderson slips in this little passage:
.
“If the government is running a deficit, it may make investments on top of this, and will therefore need to borrow to cover both.
For example, in the calendar year 2007, the Labour government borrowed £37.7bn, of which £28.3bn was invested in big projects (the balance of £9.4bn represents the current budget deficit). Conversely, in 2012, the Conservative-led coalition borrowed £93.2bn, with just £50m (yes, that’s million) invested. A neat, if rather simplistic, illustration of the different philosophies of the right and left in UK politics, some might say [my bold]”.
.
Unfortunately, apart from linkages to the NSO and OBR websites, Anderson tells us no more about these figures. For all I know they illustrate something important. I suspect, however, that they are figures capable of differing interpretations plucked from the statistics to support a blatantly partisan statement about a contrast between caring and prudent Labour (investing in the economy, no less) and the uncaring and imprudent “Conservative-led” coalition.
However, if the contrast claimed by Anderson is indeed evidenced by the published statistics, further background should be given together with an exact reference to the part of the published figures on which Anderson bases his assertions. In this way the “little people” can check Anderson’s sources and make their own minds up as to whether or not the figures support Anderson’s conclusions. IMHO the absence of such exact references plus the use of the BBC’s favourite weasel phrase “some might say” argues against the unequivocal conclusion reached by Anderson.
It’s blatantly biased and coy misrepresentation … ‘some might say’!
To see how wrong this comparison is, look at the net borrowing graph at the bottom of the article. The 2007 figure is taken at the height of a boom when the ‘left’s’ budget should have been in surplus and the 2012 figure taken when the ‘right’ were starting to repay debt that peaked the year before they came into power at over £150bn. As the ‘left’s’ finance minister said when the ‘right’ took over, ‘there’s no money left’ so it’s hardly a surprise that the ‘right’ decided they could not carry on spending / ‘investing’ at previous levels and service the inherited debt.
Breath taking cherry picking of figures and biased interpretation by the BBC!!
This article under a BBC link called ‘Deficit delusions: the truth about the UK’s borrowing and debt’ is beginning to look very silly after the author amended his figure later in the day to increase Conservative spending from £50m to £23.7bn!!
… ‘Conversely, in 2013, the Conservative-led coalition borrowed £91.5bn, with just £23.7bn invested. ‘ ….
Oh well … what’s more than £23bn to a journalist without a grasp of the facts and a biased agenda to peddle. Mr Anderson doesn’t seem up to his job, ‘some might say’.
The Roma would like to thank the BBC for withholding that part of the Judge’s words in the recent Peterborough sex gang case that refered to their community.
Although the BBC selected this quote ‘Judge John Bevan QC said: “Because some of the defendants do not speak good enough English, despite having lived here a long time, three interpreters have worked full time during this case, at a cost of over £30,000.”‘
The BBC carefully omitted to report these words : ‘Judge Bevan told the five gang members: ‘The combination of the crimes you have committed and your attitude to these crimes both in this country and this court bring discredit on all of you in the dock and does a disservice to your fellow Roma…’
The Roma are pleased that the 70-80% of the UK population who received their main news from the BBC will have been shielded from a full report of the Judge’s words in this case.
Indeed the Roma and certain other groups will be pleased that on this subject of censorship-for-the-sake-of-communty-cohesion the BBC are unilaterally enforcing the wishes of certain left-wing commentators expressed in evidence to the inquiry led by Brian Leveson last year.
BBC : The News filtered by the Left, broadcast to the masses, approved by Leveson.
BBC : All the News, well, that is that part of the news that seems to us to be in the interests of Community Cohesion.

Why the change of heart ??

‘Daily Mail’ today, for Beeboids:-
“Inexcusable: Leading abuse charity demands apology from Labour trio with links to vile paedophile group.

Brilliant, by Quentin Letts.
Beeboids should be, (but won’t be) squirming.

Can we trust these people?

(Beeboids won’t have seen this, as it’s in ‘Daily Mail’.)

It’s the same in that socialist paradise Venezuela.
No in depth coverage on the BBC – I wonder why?

Perhaps this has something to do with it.

It’s showing a group of people who want to “run into the arms of the EU” but are being kept back by Russian forces.

The Roma would like to thank the BBC for withholding that part of the Judge’s words in the recent Peterborough sex gang case that refered to their community.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-25679982
Although the BBC selected this quote ‘Judge John Bevan QC said: “Because some of the defendants do not speak good enough English, despite having lived here a long time, three interpreters have worked full time during this case, at a cost of over £30,000.”‘
The BBC carefully omitted to report these words : ‘Judge Bevan told the five gang members: ‘The combination of the crimes you have committed and your attitude to these crimes both in this country and this court bring discredit on all of you in the dock and does a disservice to your fellow Roma…’
As reported here….
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2563966/They-said-theyd-kill-I-told-police-Victims-speak-terror-Roma-child-sex-gang-preyed-girls-young-12-jailed-54-years.html

‘The BBC carefully omitted to report’
Seems the BBC ‘What there’s room for’ Department (or as they like to call it, A. Newsroom) has been, is and likely will remain conflicted for a while to come…

Don’t envy the niche BBC blog editor who draws the short straw on mentioning this so the BBC can say it has been somewhere, and copping the flak for even daring to go near it to this extent. Can just see that dainty ShadCab hand reaching across to nudge a BBC top tier’s arm…
