Missiles Rain Down As Cameron Visits Israel….er…Didn’t They?

From the Telegraph at 18:42:

David Cameron condemns ‘barbaric’ missile attack on Israel

Prime Minister David Cameron condemns “indiscriminate” attack as 50 missiles from Gaza Strip fired into southern Israel during official visit

David Cameron tonight condemned a “barbaric” missile attack on Israel that struck on the first day of his visit to the country.

Militants fired as many as 50 missiles from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, in the biggest single attack in two years.

Israeli tanks responded by firing shells at a suspected launch site within Palestinian territory.

Mr Cameron said: “These attacks are completely indiscriminate, aimed at civilian populations and people indiscriminately, and that is a demonstration of how barbaric they are.

“We must be absolutely clear in the international community – and all friends of Israel and of the Palestinian people as well – that there is no violent route to statehood.”

“They are a reminder once again of the importance of maintaining and securing Israel’s future and the security threats that you face, and you have Britain’s support in facing those security threats.”

From the BBC at 18:56, their Frontpage report:

Prime minister’s belief in Israel ‘unbreakable’

Way, way down at the bottom the BBC manages to refer to the barrage:

In front of the assembled members of the press Mr Cameron condemned rocket attacks from Gaza which Mr Netanyahu had referred to in his opening remarks of the news conference.

And that was that….no quotes about barbaric indiscriminate targeting of civilians and children.

The BBC does deign to give us a further report, at 22:15…tucked away in the world news as a small headline….this is what they tell us Cameron said:

British Prime Minister David Cameron, on a visit to Israel, condemned the rocket attack.

“They are a reminder once again of the importance of maintaining and securing Israel’s future and the security threats that you face, and you have Britain’s support in facing those security threats,” he said.

And that was that….no quotes about barbaric indiscriminate targeting of civilians and children.

Bit quicker off the ball reporting an Israeli air response….as I type at 23:32:

Israeli planes hit Gaza in response to rocket strikes

Funnily enough that makes it to the Frontpage unlike the rocket barrage.

This though does feature on the Frontpage in a large box of its own:

Still from video appearing to show Abdul Waheed Majid

Suburbia to Syria

The Briton who drove a truck bomb into a prison

On 6 February, Abdul Waheed Majeed, from Crawley in West Sussex, drove a truck bomb into the gates of a prison in Syria. Does his death represent everything that the government fears about radicalisation on a foreign battlefield?

But was he a violent jihadist, just waiting for his chance – either at home or abroad?

“My brother was not a terrorist. My brother was a hero,” says Hafeez Majeed.

“If I could put it like this, if my brother had been a British soldier and there were British people in that prison, I know he would have been awarded the posthumous Victoria Cross.

“My brother paid the full price with his life for what he did. He was not a threat to the British public and never has been a threat to the British public.”

The BBC…you can rely on it to glorify and excuse the Jihadists.

If Mr Hafeez Majeed so hates us, what is he waiting for? There are many flights to all the hell-holes of which he no doubt approves.

Oh dear. Cameron off message with the liberal junta. And he seemed to be doing so well. I never could understand why the junta dislike him. All is clear now. Very flaky on Israel.
Cue for much wailing and rending of garments in liberal central aka BBC.

More on this story, the number of missiles fired at Israel,is 60 plus, yet the bBC still says more than 30. Subtle but typical of how the bBC lies for Islamic terrorists . But even more disturbing is how the bBC is pushing the view that this missile attack was actually Israelis fault as they killed 3 pals the other day. A quick look on pal news site Ma’an tells me that the 3 men died after they fired a mortar across the border into Israel and were caught in the act seconds later by a counter strike by the IDF watching for such an act of terrorism.
But then what else do you expect from a news agency which airs the views of terrorists acts before they are carried out by Islamic terrorists.

From what I’ve read and seen so far, Sky is also ignoring the muslim rocket attack on Israel. Only RT have reported it as a news item.

    Here is how the times of Israel is reporting this story;

Despite the dramatic rhetoric Wednesday evening from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who vowed that “if there is no quiet in our south, no quiet for the residents of Israel, there will be noise, lots of noise in Gaza… and that’s putting it mildly,” the decision on how to respond to the day’s massive rocket fire from Gaza was not a simple one
A response of some kind was a given after more than 50 rockets and mortar shells were fired into Israel late on Wednesday afternoon, but the government faced tough choices, nonetheless. First of all, it had to decide at whom to fire back.
Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the barrage, the worst since November 2012, and boasted that more was to come. It is apparent that this organization, which lost three operatives Tuesday near Khan Younis whom the IDF said were about to carry out an attack, is making a great effort to drag Israel, and Hamas along with it, into a fresh round of conflict.

For Islamic Jihad, the rockets fired Wednesday were an excellent means to embarrass Hamas, in order to prove that it sets the agenda in Gaza, while Hamas has neglected jihad and resistance in favor of power.

Islamic Jihad had immediately recognized the public unrest across the territories following the killing this week of five Palestinians (the Gaza trio, as well as two in the West Bank — a Jordanian-Palestinian judge at the Allenby Bridge crossing, and a teen who was shot while throwing stones). The organization, apparently backed by Iran, wishes to establish itself as the new face of the resistance. Statements it issued hours after the rocket onslaught indicate that it is now focused on fashioning itself as the Palestinians’ new protectors.

If Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah and Hamas remain silent in the face of Palestinian deaths, runs the message, Islamic Jihad will respond in their place. Moreover, the organization’s military wing spokesman explained that Islamic Jihad’s intention is to re-frame the terms of the ceasefire with Israel. From now on, for every Palestinian killed by the IDF, he pledged, the organization will respond with heavy fire. That way, Islamic Jihad can kill two birds with one rocket: embarrass Hamas and escalate the situation.

This brings us back to the problem of Israel’s response. Islamic Jihad does not possess many straightforward, easy-to-attack targets in Gaza. Its leaders are in hiding and it does not have large command centers.

Hamas is a different story. This is the organization that controls the Gaza Strip. It has no shortage of buildings for a showcase IDF attack. Israel considers Hamas a sovereign entity in Gaza and hence holds it accountable for any unrest in the area.

Still, a response that was not seriously calculated ran the risk of dragging Hamas into another round of escalation, paralyzing Israel’s south. In fact, given Hamas’s ever-improving rocket capabilities, not only the south would be under fire, but also central Israel.

A round of fighting on the eve of Purim, furthermore, is not a simple measure for the citizens of Israel. A strike that misses its target, an escalation, and the prospect of an IDF ground operation might loom — a scenario both Hamas and Israel would prefer to avoid. Islamic Jihad, on the other hand, would welcome such a development.

As of this writing, as Wednesday turned into Thursday, the IAF had struck nearly 30 targets, most of them belonging to Islamic Jihad and some to Hamas. There were no immediate reports of casualties in these attacks, since the targets were apparently empty. Israel seemed to be choosing to convey a threatening message to Hamas and Islamic Jihad, but Israeli officials also indicated that the flare-up could stop here and now — if there was no further rocket fire from Gaza.

Finally, one cannot help but tie the Islamic Jihad attack Wednesday to the Iranian weapons shipment seized on the high seas off Sudan by the Israeli Navy last week. The missiles on the Klos-C were intended for Islamic Jihad. The organization already has some missiles that can reach Tel Aviv, but another 40 that can reach Hadera in the north — part of the Klos-C cargo — would have been quite an asset.

It was noted after the Klos-C was intercepted that Iran had been seeking the capacity to target all of Israel not only from Lebanon via Hezbollah, but also from Gaza via Islamic Jihad. Thwarting that goal, for now, by stopping the Klos-C was a major success for Israel. Wednesday’s rocket barrage was both evidence of the Islamists’ displeasure at the setback, and a further warning of the escalating danger posed by the relentless arming and strengthening of Hamas and its emboldened rival Islamic Jihad.

Twitter on BBC was also interesting this morning.
Seems they again felt a major, topical, Daily Mail story wasn’t really dealing with areas they felt were newsworthy, but did seem keen on a minor ongoing administrative tweak to the crucial issue of same-sex marriage and teachers wearing casual clothes.
The workings of An. Edit Suite, at least a BBC one, still a mystery. And likely to remain one thanks to blanket FoI exclusions ‘for the purposes of enhancing the narrative’.

If Palestine stopped all rocket attacks the Gaza situation would be over tomorrow and both sides could live in peace, but if Israel stopped defending itself it would be wiped off the face of the earth in months.

Strangely, BBC reports on the conflict never give this impression.

Where Israel is concerned the liberal/BBC junta do not do the obvious.
Blinded by irrational dislike and a pathetic need to identify with what they see as the oppressed to fill a void in their own lives.
Come to think of it liberalism is exactly that- a need to fill a void.
I have met them and they are insane.

And what about boycotts by nasty little companies like the Co op, which is getting its karma now, and thoroughly hateful trade unions like Unison, et al? The PM said in his remarks that boycotts are unacceptable…. So where is the balance and completeness of al beeb?

Got to love the bBC’s reporting of the current situation between Gaza and Israel:
Gaza militants Islamic Jihad say truce renewed
The Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad says a truce with Israel has been restored, after a day of multiple cross-border rocket and air strikes….Islamic Jihad’s leader in Gaza, Khaled al-Batch, said the renewed truce would last as long as Israel abided by it.”

In the mythical ethereal world of peaceful Muslims and racist bigoted Christians and the genocidal Jew which the bBC inhabit, it is Islamic Jihad who are peaceful and the Jews who wage senseless wars.

Meanwhile in the realworld here is how the Pals themselves are reporting the situation on the ground:
Rocket fired from Gaza hits Israel despite ceasefire
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — A rocket from Gaza struck the Ashkelon region of southern Israel on Thursday around 5:30 p.m. according to an Israeli military spokesman, causing no damage but putting into danger an already tenuous cessation of hostilities. Israeli military sources also denied that a new ceasefire had been put in place but said that “calm will be answered with calm” according to an Israeli media report, echoing statements from top officials in Islamic Jihad earlier Thursday. Israeli news website Ynet reported that an unnamed Israeli security source said that no new ceasefire agreement had been reached, but that Israeli forces would not launch any unprovoked attacks, in keeping with the terms of the 2012 ceasefire.
