I try not to watch BBC News but I am drawn like a moth to a flame. Everything has an ‘agenda’. There was an obscure discussion this morning about sheep tics and the biting of humans.
A ‘doctor/professor’ was wheeled on who linked it to Climate Change.
And the TV sofa is always draped with a smiling yet assertive plain woman with next to her a dull and neutered sycophantic man who tries not to cause offence to anyone. And he’s always seated to the Left.

    • OldBloke says:

But of course there is an agenda. Everything the BBC does now has and agenda to it. The trouble is, the BBC are not very good with facts concerning there agenda. So, we have more sheep ticks do we? I wonder why?

[Zoonotic tick-borne diseases are an increasing health burden in Europe and there is speculation that this is partly due to climate change affecting vector biology and disease transmission. Data on the vector tick Ixodes ricinus suggest that an extension of its northern and altitude range has been accompanied by an increased prevalence of tick-borne encephalitis. Climate change may also be partly responsible for the change in distribution of Dermacentor reticulatus. Increased winter activity of  I. ricinus is probably due to warmer winters and a retrospective study suggests that hotter summers will change the dynamics and pattern of seasonal activity, resulting in the bulk of the tick population becoming active in the latter part of the year. Climate suitability models predict that eight important tick species are likely to establish more northern permanent populations in a climate-warming scenario. However, the complex ecology and epidemiology of such tick-borne diseases as Lyme borreliosis and tick-borne encephalitis make it difficult to implicate climate change as the main cause of their increasing prevalence. Climate change models are required that take account of the dynamic biological processes involved in vector abundance and pathogen transmission in order to predict future tick-borne disease scenarios.]

Just how many ifs’ buts’ mays’ possiblys’ mights’ coulds’ were there in that abstract?

Maybe the BBC should have contacted their friends in Europe?

[The EU is a major world player in the production of, and trade in, sheep and goat
meat. Statistics published by the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) show that for
many years the EU was the largest producer of sheep and goat meat in the world.
Average production in the EU – 10 increased by some 17% in the decade since the
introduction of the sheep and goat meat CMO in 1980, mainly as a result of increased
production in Ireland and the United Kingdom (UK).]

More sheep more ticks anyone? Nah, not according to the BBC, it has to be Climate Change, after all what else could it be?

      Pathetic.

I succumbed to Lyme disease two years ago, having been bitten by a tick here in France. They are very common, especially in areas such as this where deer are present. The doctors here are aware of the symptoms, and a blood test is very quick – you (and the doctor) get the result, by post, the next day. The NHS pales into significance, by comparison – most GPs have probably never heard of ticks, believing that they only affect cats and dogs.

I think if anyone here suggested that tick prevalence was anything to do with climate change, they’d be laughed out of court. What a load of bollox.

Climate change is the convenient target of all blame, for everything, and ultimately us, for daring to exist and “cause” it.

So we learn tonight on Sara Cox’s ‘Sounds Of The 80’s’ that her usual producer is ‘away at Eurovision’ Ffs thats a week away yet!

A bit more research reveals that the BBC is also chucking a load more of our telly tax at this Euro Fairy Fest by giving us an extra Eurovision DAB radio station for four days. How much is this costing? Hotels for christ knows how many for 7 days or more + an extra radio station.

The BBC also seems to be acting like the government by not giving us a choice in Europe, they think they know best who to represent us and what song to perform.

We’ll never f*cking win again anyway, everybody in Europe hates us, and unlike the indigenous here, a large part of our population can vote for their own country, one big waste of money! Eurovision, so many euphemisms and similarities for the EU, out now! Vote UKIP 😉

Listening to BBC Radio Wales ‘Sunday Supplement’ this morning, and the discussion drifts over to the ‘shortage of housing for sale’ and the ‘rise in rented property’, problems with ‘building on green field sites’ and the low take up on ‘brown field sites’ – ‘Thatcher selling off council houses ‘under the right to buy’ etc etc.
No mention of the elephant in the room, the invasion of 4 Million people (can we use the word ‘people’ now?) to these islands under the last government?

One of the reasons it used to be said that the USA was a resilient economy was that they had a mobile population. Trailer homes could easily be resited, and moving home was reasonably affordable.

In the UK it has always been more difficult to move house and people were fined for doing so at 1% of the value of their purchased property.
Now however the fine has been increased to 3% when the value is £250K and 5% when the value is £500 K. This means the fine on anyone living in London is a minimum of £25K ! up from £5K which was bad enough.

To preserve the greedy bastards inheritances the fine is placed on the buyer – not the seller! Normally with tax it is sensible to levy it on the person realising the capital gains of their asset, not the person paying for it.

So now because Osbourne has increased the fine so much people are not moving up the property ladder, they are adding extensions instead rather than selling, and until Osbourne is removed from power, there’s no chance of the fine coming down again.

Yet again it’s a barrier to social mobility, a complete anathema to the Thatcherite vision, and proof that Camerons government has abandoned the normal Conservative vision in favour of a move towards Socialism.

        • Oldbob says:

“To preserve the greedy bastards inheritances the fine is levied on the buyer not the seller”

The “greedy bastards” are taxed at 40% on anything left to their inheritors over 325k after they have spent their lives paying income tax, vat, council tax, insurance tax, APD, etc etc etc.

          • Thoughtful says:

NO the greedy bastards will be taxed nothing at all on their unearned and largely untaxed inheritances, if Dhimmi Dave is elected next time, and it isn’t £325K it’s £650K between Husband & Wife.
Next election it will be taken to over £1 Million, which in conjunction with inheritance tax planning will mean that effectively the UK will have no death duties at all.

So what if they have ‘spent their lives paying income tax’? big deal!

This is an anti Thatcherite anti social mobility measure, designed to keep the idle rich, rich and the poor, poor.

Most of these inheritances like Camerons father in law have not been earned, but given out centuries ago. No tax has ever been paid on the capital gain of the assets, and as they are owned by trust funds the earnings aren’t subject to income tax either!

Under Thatcherism the people who worked, invested, enterprised, kept a greater percentage of what they earned, and those who deserved it were able to get on and become wealthy. This is the opposite of Camerons policies. We need higher inheritance taxes – 60 or 80% and lower taxes for those who are working hard.

So the BBC tells us that no one should be ‘offended’ that people who ‘hate’ are ‘vile’, and that they will have no truck with anything which isn’t politically correct.

So when hate mongering Muslims anti Semitic ‘commedian’ Dieudonne has another gig cancelled, as part of a huge anti semitic festival in Belgium, it might be expected that the BBC would have splashed it all over their news leaders.

If it was a case of an anti Muslim hate festival, they would have gone nuts, probably calling for the deaths of those involved, but seeing as todays Fascism involves turning a blind eye to the slaughter of Jews & Gays there’s very little on the BBC, and what little there is, is hidden away in an obscure section of the webpage.

Ending a report on the kidnap of hundreds of schoolgirls by so called islamist militants, with words that blame the Nigerian Govt for not doing enough to secure their release.
Sweet FA about the barbaric savages who have kidnapped and abused them, but focus on the bloody government.

Interesting piece on Today about the French far left economist who claims that inequality is a major problem. They wheel out an English economist to put the other point of view, and it quickly becomes obvious that the interviewer doesn’t want to hear what he has to say, and is able to raise all kinds of point to challenge him with. On the other hand when they are interviewing someone with whom they agree, they are unable to find the opposing points, because they cannot think or accept the other point of view.

Same thing happened with an interviewee from Russia today, who made mincemeat of the interviewer. Just an inability to accept what they are told so they keep asking the same question again & again until they hear what they want to.
