It almost looks like they are trying to tell us that Sharia has a bright side to it.

If, by “almost looks like”, you mean “looks nothing like, except to someone who’s desperately clutching at straws,”…

But Biased BBC, as has been demonstrated so many times before, doesn’t care about truth. Vance and Alan use lies like other people use oxygen. Quite sad, really, that people who clearly like to think of themselves as thought leaders have to resort to fiction in order to satisfy the appetites of the braindead acolytes whose dull-witted attention they so crave.

What’s wrong with you Scott ? Why do you get off on insulting EVERYONE ?

Is it just juvenile attention-seeking on your part ? Or inability to deal with the issues ? Or both ? What makes you behave in such a pathetic manner ?

I have been thinking that myself. It is funny how sometimes I have had some sympathy for Scott as he has come on here and gets a bit of stick but now it is totally the other way round and he undermines his own arguments by throwing insults.

      Scott,

I bet you don’t get invited to any dinner parties, and you are wondering why.

I will give you a hint.

Go by the maxim “Do not denigrating the host”.
If someone lets you sit at their table, try and have the grace to politely put forward your contrary views. It is not a good idea to tell all the other guests that you hate the host and cite some imagined fact as proof, and then continue in that vein like an insomniac with tourets.

      It pisses people off.

Your rudeness is breathtaking. We all know your aim is to derail threads and disrupt this blog, but you show such venom towards people that I worry for your state of mind.

So, be a good boy and read a few books on etiquette, and you might notice people will treat you with respect, whatever your views.

      Night, night.

Did you read the BBC report, Scott, which was so desperately attempting to exonerate the previous brutal judgement of an Islamic court?
“But some liberal religious scholars have argued apostasy is not even a crime.”
“They back up their beliefs by citing the Koranic verse which states: “There shall be no compulsion in religion.”

How strange that the BBC, once many World Leaders have also decided to jump on the bandwagon after many, many weeks of ignoring this tragic case, can NOW find quotes to justify Muslim “tolerance” and suggest it may all turn out for the best.

A pity they did not “jump on the bandwagon” as many US news sources did some weeks ago.

Can you explain to me, Scott, what took the BBC so long?

I quite often find myself in disagreement with Damian Thompson of Telegraph blog fame and was once banned for suggesting that the socialist scum and filth responsible for the Mid Staffs health authority and their role in the murder of 1200 people should be shipped off in cattle trucks to Auschwitz for extermination.

However, today he is bang on the money with his article here where he points out how grotesque BBC lying has become.
This is what he picked up on:

There are reports that Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman sentenced to death by a Muslim judge for refusing to abandon her Christian faith, is to be freed. The BBC announced it thus:

Mother facing death penalty in Sudan for abandoning religious faith to be freed

No! That is a lie. Meriam was sentenced to death (as the Telegraph correctly reports) “for refusing to recant her Christian beliefs, and on Tuesday she gave birth to a daughter while she was in prison, and with her legs shackled”.

This young mother is – and always has been – a member of the ancient Ethiopian Orthodox Church, an institution centuries older than Islam. The thuggish Sudanese ruled that she was an “apostate” because her father was a Muslim. So what? It was her Christian mother who raised her in her faith. And, anyway, if she chose to leave Islam and become a Christian, then she should have every right to do so”

    http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/damianthompson/100274159/meriam-ibrahim-to-be-freed-but-there-will-be-many-more-like-her-so-lets-stop-funding-islamism/

Just when you thought the BBC could descend no lower!!

Yep, News 24 ran with the same line, claiming that she’d been sentenced to death for ‘abandoning her Islamic faith’ – I have yet to see Christian converts to Islam described as abandoning their Christian faith (and especially not those who were Muslim anyway).

  5. thoughtful says:

“But some liberal religious scholars ”

In other words people who have left or are not of the Islamic faith. Note the vagueness of the description to preserve a whiff of authenticity.

“They back up their beliefs by citing the Koranic verse which states: “There shall be no compulsion in religion.”

Except that this section of the Qur’an is the one referring to Dhimmitude, forcing those who refuse to convert into subjection, and paying of the Jizya. This clearly does not refer to apostacy.

Note also that while the article cites an article against the death penalty from the most senior source, the Qur’an, it cites the other side from the lesser Hadith and not the Qur’anic source, so here it is:

Qur’an (9:11-12) – “But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief – Lo! they have no binding oaths – in order that they may desist.”

Not only is it from the Qur’an, but the most senior of all the Surah’s, Surah 9.

Having said all that it does make a change for the BBC to present two sides when it comes to Islam so even though it’s unsatisfactory, it’s a welcome change!

I’m afraid that’s the modus operandi of the Fascist left nowadays, so reliant on their bully words have they become, and so effective have they been, that they have lost the ability to frame a cogent argument. You can witness the recent elections in which the Fascists fell back on merely using the meaningless bully word ‘racism’ instead of attacking UKIP on policy matters which might well have been more effective.

I’m afraid Scott simply doesn’t know any better.

The BBC has bent over backwards to avoid portraying this in a negative light. The phrasing of their report states that the woman is sentenced to death “for abandoning her religious faith”.casts hervas the offender In reality, all she did was marry a Christian.

Totally barbaric justice of a hideous system, yet the BBC tries to portray the victim as somehow responsible or even deserving of her punishment. ‘Abandoning her faith’… Written as if she had abandoned a child.

To add… Yup, stealth edited by the Beeb.

I’m afraid it’s even more trivial and tenuous than that.

The states case is that her fathers faith which was Muslim, over rides the faith of her Christian mother, despite the fact that she never really knew her father and was brought up in the Christian faith.

She never really was a Muslim, never practiced the faith or said the Shahada. We come back to the medieval Sharia law so beloved of the fascist left (when it suits them)

Simply because her father was a Muslim automatically makes her one too !

      • Flexdream says:

On R4 news headlines they said she was to be executed for ‘refusing to convert back to Islam’. This is deliberately misleading. She was never a believing Muslim. Her absent father claims to be a Muslim and apparently that claims her body and soul for Allah.
Many Muslims don’t see what all the fuss is about. It’s simply sharia.

        • Thoughtful says:

To be honest that’s is what the court found. She was originally a Muslim by dint of her fathers faith and became a Christian. She then refused to convert back to something most rational people would say she never belonged to in the first place.

The guilty verdict and the death penalty are for her refusal to convert back. I was under the impression that she was supposed to be given three chances before the death penalty, but this doesn’t seem to have happened.

The really sick thing is a whispered excuse now coming out of the biased BBC that this is nothing to do with Islam, but a tribal dispute which has used Islam as a means to an end.

Easier for the Fascists to compromise their ‘principles’ over race and blame the ‘thick blacks’ rather than their precious Muslim religion.

I remember a few years ago, the BBC could documentary on Scientology. Scientologist were likely criticised for that intolerant attitude towards people left that church. But it came nowhere close to murder.

If you want to know what sharia is really like the BBC has a guide
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/islam/beliefs/sharia_1.shtml
    Inter alia
“Many people, including Muslims, misunderstand Sharia. It’s often associated with the amputation of limbs, death by stoning, lashes and other medieval punishments. Because of this, it is sometimes thought of as draconian.”
“In the Islamic tradition Sharia is seen as something that nurtures humanity. They see the Sharia not in the light of something primitive but as something divinely revealed. In a society where social problems are endemic, Sharia frees humanity to realise its individual potential.”
“In some Muslim societies, judges and populaces might stone out of mistaken belief that this was what Islam required. In fact, Islam made it virtually impossible – to be sentenced to death for adultery”
The article has nothing to say about apostasy so the Sudan case clearly should not be used to criticise sharia should it?
    Oh, there’s more ..
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7234870.stm
“Apostasy, or leaving the faith, is a very controversial issue in the Muslim world and the majority of scholars believe it is punishable by death.
But a minority of Muslim thinkers, particularly those engaged with Western societies, argue that the reality of the modern world means the “punishment” should be left to God – and that Islam itself is not threatened by apostasy.”
So it is an issue, but it’s “very controversial” (got that?) and really is just a debating point between Muslims who take a range of views. It’s clearly not something being acted upon in the name of sharia is it? Certainly nothing to compare with the unspeakable oppression of homosexuals in Putin’s Russia.

And for that reason I hope he stays as an example of the left’s approach to the serious matters of today. You will see, on the left wing blogs, how quickly they despatch and censor out those who question the central line. By staying in here Scott exposes the left, and indeed the BBC’s disdain for informed discussion.

That’s precisely why Islam has death for apostasy. To scare people into following it. Hopefully there is a seething mass of victims waiting the chance to throw off their sharia chains and embrace freedom in the form of any or no religion they want. God bless them.
It’s also why anyone, like the NI pastor, who dared to preach against Islam is targetted.
Islam is afraid, very afraid, of dissent, debate and dispute. It feeds on the fear of the unfortunate and the hopes of the oppressed. It binds and blinds good people and condemns them to bondage. It gives evil people a mask for their deeds and desires just as communism did and does.

I might not have the words correct, hence the brackets, and I have not yet looked for authentification. It rings true, however, and the truth of his assertion is surely undeniable.

Jesus Christ, did he really say that. How utterly obscene .

So according to the BBC death threats are now a legitimate means of imposing your ideology on unwilling people, and they should just take the easy way out and ‘obey orders’?

Only islam could get such an easy ride from the BBC, no other area of human life will be treated with such cowardice. Or perhaps the BBC thinks that victims of rape should “take the easy way out” and simply lie back and enjoy it?

Stourton is excusing murder, or at the very least the threat of it. If he had sought to excuse such barbarity perpetrated by anyone other than Muslims he would have been quite rightly sacked by the BBC.

The problem at the heart of Islam in a western society is that to cherry pick good from it requires scholarly knowledge. Unfortunately, rancorous nutcases rarely spend time seeking advice on the real or subtler meaning of religious texts from religious scholars; it is enough for them to have a grievance and cease any interpretation of the text once it appears to justify, at face value, whatever prejudices they have or extremist action they want to take. All we need do is look at our own history to see how our religions have been misused or taken literally to justify any outrage perpetrated in their names. Happily, they have become relatively benign since they lost any actual power over us. Having arrived a little late to the party, it may be that Islam still hasn’t made this adjustment.
