WSJ Reporter in Gaza Wonders How Patients in Shifa Hospital Feel About Hamas Using it as Base

Posting a photo to Twitter of a Hamas spokesman being interviewed on camera, Nick Casey, The Wall Street Journal‘s Middle East Correspondent, wondered how patients there might feel about Hamas using the hospital as a “de facto headquarters for Hamas leaders, who can be seen in the hallways and offices,” as reported by The Washington Post last week.

On Monday, Casey wrote: “You have to wonder [with] the shelling how patients at Shifa hospital feel as Hamas uses it as a safe place to see media.”

Journalist Describes Interrogation at Hamas Headquarters Next to Emergency Room at Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital

Radjaa Abu Dagga, Gaza correspondent for France’s Libération, told the newspaper‘s readers on Tuesday how Hamas refused his requests to leave Gaza and how he was interrogated by Hamas members from their headquarters inside Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital, a violation of international rules of war.

A few meters from the emergency room where the injured from bombings are constantly flowing, in the outpatient department, he was received in ‘a small section of the hospital used as administration’ by a band of young fighters. They were all well dressed, which surprised Radjaa, ‘in civilian clothing with a gun under one’s shirt and some had walkie-talkies.’  He was ordered to empty his pockets, removing his shoes and his belt then was taken to a hospital room ‘which served that day as the command office of three people.’

Remarkable how no one at the BBC, least of all Jeremy Bowen, saw any of this Hamas activity whilst they reported day in day out from Al-Shifa hospital.

Can the BBC and other international news networks really provide ‘war reporting of the highest standards’ from Gaza when their staff are threatened by Hamas enforcers?

When reporters are subject to coercion over what they report it’s a point of profesional integrity that they pull out.

Hamas is a terrrorist organisation that will only allow journalists into their controlled territory if they’re going to play their propaganda game for them. If we had our moral bearings straight they’d be facing charges of aiding and abetting a terrorist organisation.

You really can’t buy what the BBC is giving them for free.

The famous precursor to all those scandal-breaking exclusives – “the BBC has learnt” – is always curiously absent from the BBC’s broadcasts from Gaza (unless the BBC has “learnt” something deleterious to the Israelis). I can (sort of) understand why, given the fate of Alan Johnson. However as hippiepooter comments, it behoves an organisation working under such pressure to either withdraw or, at least, state that reports from Gaza are either censored or subject to effective censorship. To be fair to the BBC, AFAIAA the Times and Telegraph don’t do this either (but, there again, they are not legally obliged to be impartial).

Call me cynical but I wonder just how many BBC reporters are in Gaza, and how much footage is lifted from other wars, and whether BBC studios are serving as mock ups of bombing scenes in Gaza. Far fetched? Probably, but the lying bastards in the BBC invite this kind of cynicism

The BBC is not fit for purpose as a news and current affairs broadcaster, especially one that is publicly-funded and therefore bound to impartiality through its charter. It is because of them – and to be honest I found the one-sidedness of last night’s ITV News coverage equally as disturbing – that the current overwhelming pro-‘Palestinian’ bias persists in this country.

Orwell would have a field day. Or maybe not, as he would struggle in modern Britain to find a broadcaster to give him a voice.

There are at least 20 gangs in Gaza. Any one of them would kill its own people to reinforce the rejectionist, violent Arab mindset in force now since even before the British Mandate. That’s over 100 years of not getting the state they claim to crave. So what has this foolish tactic got them? Zilch! You’d think they might at least consider negotiation and peaceful co-existence . Israel even accepted a bad Partition imposed by the UN in 1948. The Arabs could have made a state out of that, but chose rejection and war instead.
Does al-beeb go back into history for more then two days? If they did they would have to face their shallow, superficial, sensationialist bias. Then the great brainwashed British masses might see the reality of the state broadcaster.

Another insight I have been spared by the mainstream emoters and propagandists.
Interesting what mystery process coverts vicious, murdering thugs into blocs necessary to do business with.
They must be astounded at their luck.
Kick off with a nice bit of extortion and other dark deeds simply to make a fast buck, and just when the locals are getting fed up some daft pol or media monopoly confers upon you community leader or people’s representative status.
Best part… all the dirty deeds can continue, the money can flow, but now it has a ’cause’ attached so legitimate challenge is seriously undermined.
I recall that was pretty much how it was with the troubles in NI.

Annie Lennox will no doubt be there at the million man march in London, along with Cherie Blair (I understand why people become suicide bombers”) and the other screwed up daughter of the alcoholic actor Tony Booth, Lauren ( 2010 converted to Islam), Gorgeous George Galloway, lover of Muslim pussy. A cast of thousands, with the bBC reporting in hushed tones.

Here is a measure of BBC influence in the UK. As a main source of news the BBC has relentlessly presented stories of civilian deaths in Gaza, interviews with wailing parents designed to touch the heartstrings of most people. This weekend a coalition of Stop the War activists, assorted Jew haters, Trotskiests, Socialists, Kenneth Loach’s Left Unity bunch, and others with their respective agendas are planning a million man march in London. The BBC must bear some responsibility for any violence – and I predict there will be. And we can add responsibility to this government and its predecessors in allowing this kind of Jew hating environment to fester here.

As I yesterday – ‘The BBC is institutionally anti Israel and the rise in anti Semitism in the UK is in large part their fault. When a British Jew is injured or worse, it would be in order for the BBC to be prosecuted for incitement. ‘

I wonder, would Jeremy Al-Bowen, Lyse Doucet and the rest of the BBC ‘journalists’ moderate their bias if they thought they could be prosecuted?

Dear members of the Mainstream Media,

You’ve been awesome! Everyone knows that we start unwinnable wars with Israel because the real victory happens when you predictably side with us each time. And you’ve been so supportive of our strategy that we really want to acknowledge your helpfulness. In particular, we thank you for:

      From the linked article:
During the three weeks since air strikes against Hamas in Gaza began, more than 800 people have been killed on both sides. The BBC relates this as a fact and not one side’s claim. It is in Hamas’s interest to boost the number of casualties.
The UN says the vast majority of Palestinian deaths are civilian. The UN (the same UNRWA that didn’t notice Hamas was storing weapons in their schools, using their ambulances for military purposes and firing from or very close to UNRWA facilities) has no way to independently collect these figures. Saying the UN says adds credibility that isn’t there. The claimed figure of 73% is actually low for modern urban warfare.

The overwhelming majority of those killed are Palestinians – at least 798 have died since 8 July, including about 185 children and 93 women, 798 minus 185 minus 93 equals 520 adult males who are most likely to be combatants. How else does the UN/Hamas/BBC explain that the number of dead women is so much less than their proportion in the regular Gaza population?

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say they have killed more than 200 “terrorists” during their assault on Gaza. Did the IDF use the word terrorists? If the BBC was simply quoting the quotation marks should be killed more than 200 terrorists

Israel launched Operation Protective Edge on 8 July, with air strikes targeting militants, weaponry and militant facilities. How convenient not to mention 150 missiles shot at Israel in the week before July 8.

The loss of 37 Israeli soldiers since 8 July suggests strongly a tough battle is taking place. One would never guess from this BBC article.

It is truly bizarre, like the movie ‘Assault on Precinct 13’.
As far as the Western, indeed any media seem concerned, there appear to be no Hamas combatants; just counter(or friendly)-fire victims.
Yet somehow prodigious amounts or ordnance is being expended, often with deadly effect.
