Nothing yet, but ‘Chelsea Manning ‘could face indefinite solitary confinement” http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-33912462. Helpfully heshe is described as a ‘US Army whistleblower’, who knew whistleblowing was a criminal offence in the US eh?

Since when has whistleblowing been illegal in the US?

All government employees take an oath to the constituation. If the government is breaking the constitution doesn’t that indicate that there is every possibility it is breaking the law?

So you’re saying that the government can do whatever it wants to do and you will always, always back it? Ever heard of a guy called Hitler?

Snowden went out of his way, moving from one contractor to another, specifically to hoover up secret information. Rusbridger and his fellow lefties at the Guardian were handling and laundering secret information, information that risked the life of people who would keep us safe

Solitary confinement is considered to be a form of psychological torture when the period of confinement is longer than a few weeks or is continued indefinitely. The International Red Cross has expressed concern of ‘significant problems’ with U.S. confinement techniques, and U.S. prison policies have faced mounting legal challenges. America’s detention system is far below the basic minimum standards for treatment of prisoners under international law. The United States’ increasingly harsh treatment of its civilian prison population in maximum-security prisons (“supermax facilities”) nationwide has caused an international human rights concern. America’s solitary confinement practices contravene international treaty law, violate established international norms, and do not represent sound policy.

Negative psychological effects have been documented, leading one judge in a 2001 suit to rule that “[Solitary confinement] units are virtual incubators of psychoses—seeding illness in otherwise healthy inmates and exacerbating illness in those already suffering from mental infirmities.”

Criminals might deserve to have their liberties taken away, but they do not deserve to be tortured, which is what the maximum sentence is.

There is little doubt the US government under Obama is subjecting Chelsea Manning to at least cruel treatment if not direct torture, being told that she will ‘be disappeared at Guantanamo bay’.

If she was black there would be riots – she’s white and therefore matters very little.

Had a reminder of just how thick Jeremy Vine is today, during his 11.30 chat with Ken Bruce, which touched on the upcoming interview with Andy Burnham on Vine’s show.

Jizz seemed to think that SHE could help the problem by taking some…how many was left to us.
He mentioned something about a gay bull, I baled out at this point.
Boy he`s thick…he never listened to a word the farmer said, until he said the tears were shed over his cow last Saturday night.

I have watched ‘New Tricks’ on the BBC for what must be decade now, it has got steadily worse and more PC and of course the old successful cast have been gradually ‘retired’. The new boss of course being an even younger female than the pretty good Amanda Redman.
Denis Waterman is the last of the old crew to go in Mondays episode, clearly being white male and ‘conservative’ the BBC had to get rid of him.
I wonder who his replacement will be, I reckon the odds for a person of colour are pretty high…possibly female, and quite possibly lesbian….oh, and wheelchair bound?

Anyone want to guess why the main headline in the Times Newspaper had no mention on the Today review of the papers at 7.40.?
Shia and Sunni Muslims reflecting the Isis conflict causing even more division among Muslims in the UK. The Shias are a minority compared with Sunnis and facing violence; one Shia claimed to have fled to the USA because of attacks on him and his family.
Of course for many years Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslims in the UK have not got on and required separate Mosques and public facilities. Totally ignored or denied by the BBC…except about 20 years ago when a programme on Bradford informed us that after building separate youth centres for Pakistani, Bangladeshi and black communities , they had run out of money to refurbish those for the rest of the populations youth.
More recently, the BBC website had an item condemning a planned protest by the EDL about another Mosque in Sunderland.
A quote from a local resident claimed the whole community got on well together and the racist EDL were unwelcome.
The reason for the proposed new Mosque, not of course mentioned in the BBC item? The fairly recently arrived Pakistanis had been using a Bangladeshi Mosque, but felt unwelcome and there was growing tension, thus they wanted one of their very own!

That was a really interesting link, thank you. There’s long been a recognised connection between millenarianism (the ‘second coming’ nonsense) group-based delusional conditions and AGW alarmists, whose cult-like behaviour is plain to see. That blog posts actually shows some quite specific cases.

Ironically, of course, it is those very same warmists who like to pretend that objective scepticism is itself a mental illness.

    • Richard Pinder says:

I bet Britain’s first female Professor of Atmospheric Physics Joanna Haigh is crying buckets. But most loony Warmists seem to be either EnvironMENTALists pretending to be scientific experts, or if they do have some scientific qualification like geneticist, geologist or female Oceanographer, they do not seem to know anything about thermodynamics. Which could be a cure for the mental illness of Warmism.

I know some scientists are receiving more and more loony emails about the need to recruit more and more Climate Reality Leaders. But I heard a rumour that Phil Jones was travelling around Lincolnshire, and that he was feeling a bit better than he was when he was last on the BBC, talking to that cancer expert and left-wing loony Paul Nurse. The suspicion was that he had recovered and has become a closet Climate sceptic.

But the BBC has done a “Thinking Allowed” about mental illness in Climate Science. But they did not invite any Climate Scientists to talk about their mental problems. Instead, the BBC invited a couple of “on message” Psychiatrists who seemed to be suggesting that an “off message” Climate Scientist who disagreed with the opinion of a psychiatrist, about the core basics of calibrating carbon dioxide warming in a planetary atmosphere, was or is a loony, even if the scientist hasn’t talked to a psychiatrist about the issue.

More and more people are noticing that the gate is firmly shut at the BBC, so are looking else where to break through the induced closed gate culture of journalistic ignorance.

The best place for Climate science is Google Scholar. Sometimes there is a pay wall. But I find that if you then go back to an advanced meta search engine with the title of the scientific paper concerned. You can always find the Paper in PDF form, on the internet, free.

With temperatures on the west side of the U.K. falling like stones, and stations at 22.30 already showing single figures of 6 degrees, I would say that a frost is very likely tonight/tomorrow morning should the skies remain clear. We have already had several “frost days” around the U.K. in August so tonight might add more to that count. With the Jetstream running south of the U.K. for about 6 days, a cold air will sit over us and without cloud cover in the night, we might well see more “Frost days” over that period. I’ll be looking at my weather data records to see what the record is for August for “Frost Days” as we must already be getting close to that even though it is only the 14th. I have no doubt that the Met Office and/or the BBC will not tell us if it is a record or even if it gets close as it does not suit their agenda to tell us does it?

Couldn’t agree more. When I worked night shift in Israel without access to the Internet more than a decade ago, the World Service was the only English-language station I could access on medium wave on that old thing called a radio.

This bad habit persisted unabated when I changed to the day shift, until it was moderated a few years ago when the BBC reduced broadcasts to Israel and ceased in April this year when broadcasts were abruptly cut altogether.

Since then my working days have been totally free of BBC bias. These days I grit my teeth and access the bias on the Internet from home.

The cessation of broadcasts to Israel naturally aroused my curiosity as to whether the Palestinians could pick up the World Service in their areas on radio on medium wave. I couldn’t find anything but came across a fascinating snippet of info on Wiki:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_World_Service

Scroll down to the table to find the startling disclosure that the World Service operated a Hebrew language service from October 1949 to October 1968.

The time span is really interesting. I imagine in the first two decades after the establishment of the State the BBC thought Israelis would be receptive to its propaganda – what with the socialist idealism of the kibbutz movement and the return to the land. There might also have been a touch of sympathy for the survivors of the Holocaust. But by 1968 the left had begun to fall out of love with Israel, especially since Israel’s comprehensive thrashing of its Arab enemies and occupation of Arab territory in 1967 had made the country appear to be a rogue state when viewed through typical leftie tunnel vision.

In stark contrast, the World Service has had an Arabic Service since 1938 and a Persian Service since 1940 and launched an Arabic and Persian language TV news channel in 2007.

      Speaks volumes.

No such contribution after this morning’s interview with the Prime Minister. The “surge” initiated by George Bush got the Sunni tribes in Anwar province etc on side again. Obama was being asked by the military to keep 20,000 troops in Iraq, and the politicians there would have accepted this. But Obama wanted a virtually complete withdrawal, and lost the chance to beef up the new Iraqi army and keep pressure on the Shia government to play nice with the Sunnis – and the Kurds –

Reconciliation! WW2 American fighter pilot who hated the Japanese after WW2 now loves them and is reconciled. Shots of him at temples in Japan and sad music.
No mention by the BBC of Japans vast and brutal war crimes resulting in the deaths of millions. Why did he hate them, I wonder? Not asked of course by the BBC.
This would spoil their narrative. America bad v good Japan.

Moves on to Trafalgar Square to speak to a British veteran. Not once were Japanese atrocities mentioned or referred to. The veteran I think went off script and mentioned something about remembering the PoWs.

Once again Today demonstrated its lack of journalistic competence mixed with bias: the questions in the interview with the PM this morning were entirely from a left-wing stance. Not just left but a party political position not 1/10th of an inch from Labour. Of course, until Corbyn is crowned, the BBC sees itself as the offcial opposition so no real surprise there.

Difficult to believe I know, but the government has its critics on the right too although you’d never think that based on Webb’s fatuous and ineffective “interrogation”. It might have been salutary, even interesting to pose a question, say, about the maximum number of immigrants (legal or otherwise) that Cameron considers this country can or should take. But no, Webb wasted everybody’s time getting angry about Cameron’s use of the word “swarm”. As it was, Webb’s questions were swatted off by Cameron with embarrassing ease and, as usual, I was no wiser after the interview than before it. The only result of the 10/15 minute item was to confirm Webb’s (and the BBC’s) unfailing uselessness and partiality – again!

A)The E.U-I mean if they can`t create a seamless repellent to this invasion from Africa…then what the hell are they for?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/labour/11804199/How-to-speak-like-a-Corbynite-a-helpful-guide.html?x

Here’s a tip or two on how to speak BBC

Struggling to understand what the BBC is on about?

Controversial – any policy or institution of which the BBC disapproves eg ‘The controversial migrant detention centre’

Divisive – conviction politicians on the right of the political spectrum. eg Nigel Farage, Margaret Thatcher. Note : their left of centre equilvalents eg Tony Benn, Jeremy Corbyn, are never described as divisive

    Austerity – ie capitalism

Anti-Austerity – ie marxist eg ‘Look at all these anti-austerity protesters’ (in fact the protesters will be supporting marxism)

Asian – hardly need to tell you this, but it means Muslim in cases involving groups of men arested for particular crimes in certain towns and cities. Often Pakistani is an accurate enough description

Of North African and Middle Eastern descent – sometimes used as above when the word Asian would be factually incorrect. Remember the term Muslim is to be avoided at all costs

British – term used, often for for Asians (see above), when they get into trouble abroad ie outside of the UK

    Migrant – illegal immigrant

The only thing missing from her prospective BBC CV would appear to be that she hasn t been gang raped by Islamic adherents as a child, and when finding the courage to speak out, getting the intimidating indignity and insult of an Islamic Al BBC reporter to interview her … or an Islamic police officer to call her a “known Prostitute” at 11 … or Islamic local councillor to repeatedly ignore her plight.
      That could be the clincher.

Check this out from Professor Noel Ignatiev, ”Treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity. The white race is a historically constructed social formation. It consists of all those who partake of the privileges of the white skin in this society. Its most wretched members share a status higher, in certain respects, than that of the most exalted persons excluded from it, in return for which they give their support to a system that degrades them.

The key to solving the social problems of our age is to abolish the white race — in other words, to abolish the privileges of the white skin. Until that task is accomplished, even partial reform will prove elusive, because white influence permeates every issue, domestic and foreign, in U.S. society.

The way to abolish the white race is to challenge, disrupt and eventually overturn the institutions and behavior patterns that reproduce the privileges of whiteness, including the schools, job and housing markets, and the criminal justice system. The abolitionists do not limit themselves to socially acceptable means of protest, but reject in advance no means of attaining their goal.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noel_Ignatiev

I don’t think so – Dr Alinsky created a systematic, pragmatic and comprehensive framework for the ignition and utilisation of community conflict for progressive purposes. Many of the principles and methods he describes in Rules for Radicals could just as easily be used by those whose political persuasions are poles apart from his own.

I would recommend anyone who is at all interested in patterns of influence and activism as practised by community workers, to read this book carefully and learn from it.

Prof Ignatiev is, by comparison, a blow-hard of limited imagination and an inability to construct anything more than a string of slogans.

But a quick scan of Google/facebook will reveal a large collection of white hating white material, some of it may be faked, other perhaps not. Listening to reports from the student’s unions here in the UK, the views expressed in the picture -apart from the curious ‘black men of color – would not be out of place. The Black Lives Matter movement has had a powerful impact on many of our mindless students.

I’d be interested to know how you found out that she was in fact holding a poster with text that she had been raped.

Apparently several centuries ago someone made this astute observation:

A lie is halfway around the world before the truth gets its boots on

This is a really disturbing aspect of social media and of course other media. So often it is the lie that prevails and is accepted while the truth is bypassed.

You should hold back on judging David Brims. His was probably just a knee-jerk reaction. Also, it could be somebody impersonating him. It’s happened before a lot on this site.

As we all know, the BBC just love to tell us when there is a “record” (?) high temperature for a month (July) even when that temperature is a questionable one from Heathrow airport. But I wonder if the same people at the BBC who droned on for days about that “record” temperature will be just as keen to tell us that a new low temperature record might be set tonight in the U.K. for the month of August. The current record low was set last year in N.Ireland with a low of minus 1.9 degrees. Many parts of the U.K. are once again seeing temperatures tumble and with no wind and clear skies, many reporting stations are already showing (at the time of writing this) below 4 degrees. With 6 hours available for falling temperatures, there is a very good chance that the record might go. Oh, and by the way, Dartmoor had a frost last night on the west side, but tonight just about anywhere on the moor, and even around Exeter.
Isn’t it interesting that the Met Office and the BBC have never yet mentioned the lack of sunspot and sun radiation activity might be a cause for the cooling of our climate? In fact, the lack of sun spot activity never gets a mention by anybody much and most definitely not by Mr Harrabin. I wonder why?

Islamic State leader Baghdadi ‘raped Kayla Mueller’

The BBC skips over Mueller’s involvement with the International Solidarity Movement against Israel with a brief worked with humanitarian aid groups in northern India, Israel and the Palestinian territories..

At the beginning of this decade there were a number of stories about the rape/‘seduction’ of international volunteers in the Palestinian Territories and Gaza. Still going on? Did Mueller know about this?

The MSM never picked up the story although there is at least some evidence that Rachel Corrie endangered her life in response to hostility from the local Gazan women who believed their husbands were sleeping with the internationals.

I don’t celebrate her death but I do wonder that while being repeatedly raped by the self-proclaimed ‘Caliph of the Islamic State’ she might have finally wondered if she had picked the right side.

Beeboid scribblers just love quotation marks. They love them not only for their intended purpose i.e. quoting what somebody actually said, but also to use around a single word as a subtle (or not so subtle ) nudge to the reader that the saintly beeboid scribbler in question does not agree with, or simply does not believe the person or the source of information he/she is writing about. The following headline is an example from today’s website : Calais migrant crisis: Breaches of Eurotunnel ‘down’. Why the need for quotation marks around the word ‘down’? This is a fact or it is not; either the numbers of ‘migrants’ trying to to ‘break-in’ are down or they are not down and it would seem self-evident with the extra fencing, dogs, and guards that many of the unfortunate ‘migrants’ and people smugglers have buggered off to pastures new in recent days. Is the intention to signify that the writer somehow feels a little saddened, or even guilty at this news and that we should share in this ? Or maybe that the statistics are somehow being manipulated ? Who can say. No doubt today’s Songs of Praise will enlighten us all.

    “Urghhhhh!”

Paddy O’Connell just after 9am this morning on BBC Radio 4 was virtue signalling like a crazy man with his reaction to an archive recording of novelist Laurence Durrell (1912-1990) in conversation with Malcolm Muggeridge.

What could have been the offending sound bite (employing an anachronistic moniker such as sound bite seems absurd but appropriate perhaps for a single line drawn from an interview recorded at least three – perhaps four or five or possibly as far as six decades ago) which elicited that audible – almost visceral – reaction from our Paddy?

Durrell : (in the cut glass tones and languid – indeed – knowing acedemic wit of a bygone age in reply to Muggeridge’s challenge about his literary and personal relations with women)

“I’m like a Turk, I don’t believe they have souls”

    Paddy O’Connell : “Urghhhhh!”

Personnally, I was left unsure whether O’Connell’s rather desperate virtue signalling was flagging up his loudly assumed offense for and on behalf of women, Turks or both.

Perhaps readers here who heard Paddy’s gasp could share their opinion?

Perhaps, thinking of current BBC concerns, it was about Paddy’s disapproval of Durrell’s take on Islamic ideology – of which the BBC seems to be something of an arbiter. eg ‘Islam is the religion of peace’ (TM BBC)?

There is a BBC radio house-style at work in O’Connell’s gutteral exclaimations. C/f Victoria Derbyshire on Radio 5 Live. In interview with the internet/Guardian annoymous personality ‘The Secret Footballer’ Derbyshire was anxious to hone in on an example of ‘racism’. Pressing her interviewee for an example she extracted an annecdote concerning the placing of a banana on the dressing room seat of a black player. Derbyshire’s gasp and Lady Bracknell-like exclaimation “A Banana!” might have made Oscar Wilde proud – although I doubt he would have tuned his wireless to 5 Live. The playright might, however, have followed Radio 4 – if he had been fortunate enough to have lived to be 160. You see some attitudes change over lengthy periods of time. Less so religious attitudes.

Thre’s your though for the day.

If the joke had occurred – which, given the wider context of the interview, it may well have done – this would not have fitted Paddy or his employer’s intention – which was to contrast their own PC attitudes with that of Durrell (a nasty old white man) and by extention to signal to the listener : this is a writer of whom we do not approve.

“TB was virtually eradicated in the UK and reared it’s ugly head in the late 80’s with the influx of immigrants from Asia. I worked at the time in the NHS Dept of Community Medicine, TB was rife, but was kept under wraps so as not to incite racial comment, abuse etc. You could be sat on a bus next to someone with it and easily catch it !”

This is what the authorities under the BLiar regime were forcing the public sector to do. The BBC were enthusiastic supporters and have actively sought to suppress the truth about TB in the UK.
