I am fearful about the impact the latest round of cuts at the BBC will have on programming and on our media output in this country. I firmly believe in the principle of public service broadcast and am fearful of following the path tread in the United States, where PBS has been hollowed out, unable to deliver the breadth of content to compete with the private broadcasters, and where Fox News has as a result been effectively allowed to dominate and set the news agenda.
I want to see the Labour Party at the heart of campaigns to protect the BBC and its license fee. When we return to power we must fully fund public service broadcasting in all its forms, recognising the crucial role the BBC has played in establishing and supporting world class domestic arts, drama, and entertainment.
Dare I even look at Twitter to see the reaction from the Beeboids?

Naivety upon naivety-the millions already residing in Britain & Europe and the many millions more clammering to enter Europe, mostly followers of the teachings of Islam, will crush any policies that Mr Corbyn might pretend to throw at his gullible supporters, unless they follow their Sharia Law, that will unless stopped now,, like Germany be accepted into the law of the land. He like many before him, is a traitor to the Freedoms we enjoy for now, so hard won by our ancestors. The game is up for our Politicians, the power of imminent invasion is knocking at our door, the BBC may run but it can’t hide.
Doesn’t really matter what Corbyn says really does it? You can’t believe a word he says anyway…
As I recall Ed Miliband made this pledge and the BBc promptly lost what little reason it had to ensure he won.

You may notice that Corbyn does not mention the news and current affairs output of the BBC.
Perhaps he just takes it for granted that it will be cheering Labour on down to its last penny of public funding!
