What better platform for the new puritans to deliver their revised warning ‘there is no safe level of alcohol’ than BBC Breakfast – the show apparently sponsored by ‘the perils of sugar’?

It’s a bitter (and lager) unsweated pill to swallow folks, but never mind, we’re treating public-sector-financed-spaceman major Tim with enormous gravity. The atmosphere is building as school kids win the lottery to have a radio link-up with our tax-payrolled hero.

Male safe drinking levels (otherwise stated to be none-at-all) are being reduced to match those of females. Another win-win for equality over science methinks! But what about the transgenders? All quiet on the Danish Girl front? Course not, the BAFTAs are up and running… luvvie luvvie luvvie!

AISI, I wonder if the tax implications of this ‘No alcohol’ thing have been fully considered?

One of the many reasons the NHS is in a spot of financial bother is that their income has been drastically reduced at their own hands. Cannot remember the latest smoking statistics but I think the 20 year fall in the numbers smoking in the UK is quite substantial. From the late 1990s, the NHS was spending several hundred pounds per smoker to help them stop smoking and to help them stop paying, on average, £1000+ to the Treasury each and every year, a large portion of which was hypothecated to the NHS.

So that was a Lose & Lose on smoking for the NHS.

IIRC, the duties on alcohol are not hypothecated to the NHS but there is going to an uncomfortable collision at Treasury between the tax take on the spending from the affluence of incohol – er, I mean alcohol – from the 1990s & Noughties with the ‘New Puritanism’ of the 21st century, second decade nanny state.

        other imoplications:

It instantly increases the amount of people who can now be classed as having “drinking problems” thus ensuring that the various government agencies/NGOs/charities have a much more urgent need to increased tax-payers money to tackle an instantly created problem.

It also allows the state to have a reason to push to decrease this nation’s alcohol intake, thus making the slow transition to Sharia law less truamatic for drinkers.

Mum they’re doing it again. I’ve lost count how many times they’ve done alcohol and this morning it’s the same. Yes new alcohol guidelines and it’s got more coverage than the floods . All alcohol is poison which is worse I wonder? Sugar or alcohol? Apparently the new guideline is you should only be drinking one pint a day, but you shouldn’t bank them. Now to be honest I really don’t care I probably have 2 or 3 drinks in a year but the ferocity the BBc takes on any anti alcohol story is breath taking.
And so back to the migrant hoards “Here are some appalling pictures” Naga informs us. so it’s over to Serbia. There is a spike is migrants falling ill ,due to the cold well no one asked them to invade Europe. The cameras focus on the kids as usual. Out of interest the temperature in Damascus is a not exactly warm 9c I assume the BBc thinks we will believe as it’s in the middle east it’s warm all the time and doesn’t get cold in the winter. The usual complete sob sob story on the invaders.

Not only are they doing it again but they left a significant part of the story out.

Today is the start of a public consultation on proposed new alcohol guidance.
see https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/health-risks-from-alcohol-new-guidelines for more info and how you can participate. Though I sense the dead hand of political correctness and blind “equalities” promotion has been at work already.

I`m interested to know how they have come to the conclusion that the “safer” limit is the same for females as males since there is a well documented physiological difference in alcohol metabolism between men and women.
“Very little alcohol enters fat because of fats poor solubility. Blood and tissue concentrations are therefore higher in women, who have more subcutaneous fat and a smaller blood volume than men, even when the amount of alcohol consumed is adjusted for body weight. Women may also have lower levels of alcohol dehydrogenases in the stomach than men, so that less alcohol is metabolised before absorption.”

I can’t help it, I could go all Godwin’s Law on this : It’s like the Wehrmacht blaming the Soviets for the cold weather.

But let’s be BBC-War-and-Peace-friendly and say it’s like Napoleon blaming the Tsar for his country’s winter

Funny but I can’t find this highly relevant story anywhere on the BBC:

    http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/salford-man-arrested-people-smuggling-10703160

A Salford man – one of two accused of being part of a smuggling network responsible for trafficking up to 20 migrants a NIGHT into the UK – has been arrested.

Shamel Omer Zorab, 33, from Eccles, is one of two Iraqi nationals detained by police following a major operation co-ordinated by the National Crime Agency (NCA).

Sleman Basak Ahmed, 37, from Birmingham, was also arrested after being hunted on a European arrest warrant.

The Manchester Evening news is part of the Mirror group and Labour supporting Left wing. It’s journalism and standards of English leave a lot to be desired !

Firstly he is not ‘A Salford man’ he is a man who happens to live in Salford, if anything he is an Iraqi man, nor is he ‘From Eccles’ he is living in Eccles. This might be a subtle difference, but it completely changes the context.

‘The arrests follow a joint operation involving the NCA and Belgian Federal Police, looking into a Kurdish criminal network suspected of smuggling hundreds of people – up to 20 a night – into the UK in lorries.’

‘It is thought migrants, including Iraqis, Iranians, Afghans, Indians, Pakistanis and Albanians, are loaded into trucks at motorway service stations in Belgium before attempting to cross the Channel.’

‘Police say ten people have already been arrested in Belgium and await trial there.’

This should be a major news story given the problems at Calais, and the fact it’s a cross border operation, but yet the BBC has nothing on it at all.

Given how slow BBC news is, there might be a story late in the day, or tomorrow, but then no doubt it will have been spun to reduce the impact as much as possible.

‘This should be a major news story given the problems at Calais’ Agreed
BBC Breakfast mentioned it once (as they say – but, I think they got away with it) putting emphasis on the extradition to Belgium procedures.

Meanwhile rather more interesting to the BBC is the apparent murders of a former East Enders actress and her children. Although the interest there seems rather to err away from the missing man in the case’s flight to Ghana and focus more on what the police might have done wrong. Same old, same old, BBC.

“Almost all of them are suffering with respiratory illnesses brought on by the cold.”

No it’s not, you lying bastards! it’s brought on by this:

    http://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/advice/disease-prevention-advice/middle-east-respiratory-syndrome.aspx

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_East_respiratory_syndrome_coronavirus

MERS, along with TB are two of the most common conditions now treated (at our expense let me remind you) amongst our culturally enriching ‘communities’.

“We are on a journey of death,” said Mohammad’s uncle, Iyad Al-Maari. We can endure. But I am worried about the children – the cold, disease and hunger.”

You should have all stayed in Turkey then. What sort of parents put their kids lives in danger like that? Turkey is a safe country (if you’re a fellow muslim at least), but no, you wanted to come to Europe where you expected to be given, at the expense of the natives, a free home and free food and free medical care and all the other trappings that come with a civilised society. Go back to Syria and do what we did after our country and continent got torn apart by war. Did we run? No, we fought and rebuilt the continent to what it was 20 years ago. I was going to say to what it is now, but I don’t think any explanation is necessary.

The BBC don’t do joined up thinking, as far as they are concerned its our ageing population who are to blame for the ‘NHS IN CRISIS’ headlines.

I also often wonder how much of a burden 2nd hand illnesses passed on from new arrivals to the more susceptible indigenous. I say this after visiting an Aldi store yesterday (for my weeks supply of vino rosso) there was a group of ‘foreigners’ wandering around (with kids) one was hacking away badly, coughing over food and without covering his mouth, Christ knows what germs he was spreading around and what unfortunates may succumb. Whatever we will foot the bill….

An amazing piece with an oddly ‘gender neutral’ Damien McGuiness summing up in the final seconds. Either he is completely naïve or lying when he slips in about Germany’s migrant crisis which has no real relevance to the piece, but that also Mein Kampf is a best seller across most of the Muslim world especially Turkey and Palestine. Recent remarks from Turkeys President all seem to have passed him by also.
It’s all the fault of the whitey’s again – but not the white lefties of course, it’s the shadowy ‘right wing groups’ which simply don’t actually exist.

They will do anything in this pathetic attempt to divert the public’s attention from the all too real problems in Germany, Scandinavia, France and…well… who knows where else?

First they denied it happened by staying silent. Then they played it down and fabricated excuses. Now they are laying down a smokescreen and creating a diversion.

    1. Everyone dies exactly once. Nothing ‘prevents’ deaths, it only postpones them.
    2. Most of most people’s total lifetime cost of treatment by the NHS is in the immediate weeks and months before death, its as simple as reflecting that most people die in hospital and we know how expensive hospitals are to run.
Therefore, any activity which prolongs life increases long-term NHS expenditure, no matter what gobbledegook mickey-mouse financial arguments are made.
Therefore any public body recommending lifestyle changes, should also tell us how they are to be paid for long term.
I doubt if our state public body broadcaster has the wit, imagination, or motivation to pursue this logic sequence.

Watched News Night a couple of nights ago. One of the BBC’s towering intellectuals Evan Davies hosted the show. Evan (peace be upon him) introduced an item about a young Kurdish woman, Maryam. He asked the viewers (we plebs) who are accustomed in the west to watching insignificant trivia such as Strictly etc. to take time off from such bread and circuses bullshit to give 10 to 15 minutes to watch a truly remarkable story on Kurdish TV. Evan, did say it was ok for us to watch our daily diet of shit, bless him for his condescension.

What followed was the most appalling Silla Black Surprise, Surprise. Maryam had been adopted by an Iranian family. When her Iranian father died she was berated by locals for grieving for him. She was told that she should not cry at his grave because he was not her real father. This lead to Maryam seeking out her roots. A Kurdish doctor seeking out the lost children of the victims of Saddam Husain’s chemical assault on the Kurd’s. He used DNA sampling to match these children with their possible Kurdish family. All good stuff so far.

Maryam adoptive mother was introduced. Maryam had been adopted following the death of her female child also called Maryam. The adoptive father had heard n Iranian media that there a umber of children from Iraq up for adoption. He went and choose a girl whom he named Maryam after his dead daughter. At one point Maryam asks her adoptive mother if she was a pretty child. The mother replies NO, you were too DARK to be pretty. Having been born and lived in the West Indies where people are not just colour conscious but SHADE conscious, this struck home as racist.

I have long been an admirer of the Kurds, but what followed was truly appalling. The good doctor made 3 possible matches of Maryam’s DNA to Kurdish families . Maryam visited each of these families. They all thought that she was the lost child/sister etc. Then on live TV the doctor announced which family’s DNA matched Maryam’s 100%. It turned that it was a different family. So we had the tears of the disappointed family’s who were left with a new lost, the child/sister they thought they had found, but was not.

I have just become a fan of Strictly. Oh shit it on the BBC. Can’t win

Tonight on the 6.00pm Radio 4 news, a section of it told of how the Flying Scotsman (4472) was rebuilt at a cost of £4 million as this was the first steam loco to achieve 100 mph. Pardon? Er.. excuse me? I don’t think so young lady reporter, someone has been telling you porkies. Records confirm that it was a GWR Class 3700, (City class) “3440 City of Truro” that completed a milepost timed run of at or above 100 mph on my patch down here in the South West, and it is most probable given the running road that 102 mph was achieved. It is the 4472 that was “officially” timed at 100 mph, but well after the run of City of Truro.

Yes, down Wellington Bank, I believe.

In my youth, at school in Tiverton, I remember the ‘City of Truro’ hauling the Westward Television exhibition train to Tiverton town station (now long gone), when that TV station first began broadcasting.

Merkel has said that refugees who commit crimes in Germany will be sent back.

Under her EU laws, this cannot happen. She knows this.

Is she playing for time to pacify the non-existent right-wing back-lash?

I’m waiting for the BBC to clarify this.

I’m also waiting for confirmation that Sir Bob ‘I’m worth £30m’ Geldof has taken Syrian refugees into his homes as he so very vocally promised the nation back in September. Perhaps he’s teaching them English at home as I type?

It’s under the Asylum treaty, and nothing to do with the EU.

The asylum act has always allowed for the return of people who have committed certain crimes.

The asylum act does not cover those fleeing war, but Merkel has made an exception, she would however have to reach agreement with Turkey for them to be returned there, and the EU could always impose sanctions if he failed to agree.

Is she playing for time to pacify the non-existent right-wing back-lash?

Bob Geldof’s English? That’ll involve f*ck and f*cking with a few other words from time to time.

I think they already know those words. The words they need to learn include ‘self-restraint’, ‘law-abiding’, ‘respect’, ‘civilised’, ‘decency’, ‘work’, ‘self-reliance’, ‘gratitude’… feel free to add others.

Let’s not be hasty and jump to the conclusion that this was an Islamic inpired attack. After all, Egypt has a minority population of about 88% Muslims only. For all we know it was the work of the People’s Front of Judea, or was it the Judean People’s Front???

Just seen the news coverage of this ‘random’ attack by three angry men, one a student, maybe they were just angry at the cost of student fees in Egypt and thought that attacking a few foreign tourists would highlight their plight? I think we all really know that they are followers of the RoP but the BkgbC would never admit to that.

Either way the only concern for the warped fuckwits at the beeb, including the spineless (literally thanks to his RoP mates) Frank Gardiner, was the negative effect it would have on tourism?

Then the story of the ISIS nut job who shot a poodle officer in his patrol car in the U.S. the beeb scum made sure the main point was the U.S. spokesman who, robot like, stated the mantra…”itt wasss nothinggg tooo dooo withh the RoPPPPP” zzz, zzz. Does this prick not realize that we all know he is a lying piece of shit.

Then came the Cologne attacks, the beeb just had to have a muzzer on who was scared shitless of the reprisals, you know, the attacks that simply haven’t happened….anywhere! Then came the thick German twat who actually said, in the interests of social cohesion of course, that “we just have to look at the attack as a one off incident”??? 170+ women were attacked (as well as the rest of the kraut rape epidemic) and this thick bitch thinks it’s a one off?? Just like Paris was, eh!

Just what the fuck do these people have to go through to see the light? I am of the thinking that many of these ‘victims’ are getting exactly what they deserve, I’m guessing that the lefty brigade in Cologne are at this very moment coaching the 170 to explain that ‘it wasn’t the immigrant’s fault, they are the victims, we must be tolerant and educate these people’.

And all this coming after the main story of…we all drink too much…BOOOM! There it is, the main danger to most people’s health!! Did the scum at the beeb ever think that for many people drink is the weapon of choice to escape the constant liberal socialist shite that we are bombarded with every day, it’s better that than an AK47.

I hope Merkel gets better success in deporting her ‘undesirables’ than ‘Theresa the appeaser’ got in deporting our terrorists. I am sure the ECHR will have something to say about it ? Is Al Beeb guilty of censorship? Why am I forced to pay an annual tax for this ? Does not our Mr Car Moron see all this ?
One thing is certain, there are ‘lessons to be learned’ – Yes, we should get out of the EU .

The problem with the ECHR was not the law, but the fact that the greedy bastards realised the Jordanian courts were outwith the EU and their greedy mates weren’t going to be able to make any money there!

The law in Europe is very much akin to a protection racket, with whoever is able to pay the most money winning the cases. In the case of governments it’s a bottomless purse which pays for both sides so countless opportunities to dip into the public purse.

Forget Dole scroungers, these are the real parasites, producing absolutely nothing of value what so ever, and adding nothing to the advancement of humanity.

Getting out of the EU is not getting out of the ECtHR which is completely separate, although it might well follow, will lazy Davey be the one to actually get around to doing it ?

I agree with what you write but our PM is doing nothing about Al Beeb .
He is also behaving like the shady car salesman that he is. He is just ‘negotiating’ some sort of ‘pretend deal’ with the EU which is just a charade.
I have a feeling that Essexman is not going to like this .

I reckon the word CONTEMPLATE signifies a long period of thinking, followed by inaction (doing sweetFA). If she meant business she’d have said:

      “must deport”

Given that no promise has been made other than to ‘contemplate’ such an act, I very much doubt she intends doing anything more than just that – sounds like poltician talk to me, playing to the gallery only.

Of topic, but being forced fed Big Brother on Channel 5, Winston McKenzie (ex UKIP) is getting a good kicking for his (correct?) view on gay couples adopting, looks like he’s going tonight, his housemates are aghast….

He’s been set up for a fall and the UKIP brand is still being touted as far as he’s concerned, UKIP guilty by association.

As he’s the only ethnic in there, if the voting public vote him out are they racist? I wonder how they would square it if he were also a member of a peaceful religion?

Yesterday I posted a link to the EU Referendum site, where there was an excellent deconstruction of a biased BBC programme on Brexit. The post prompted some comments about Richard North, so this news of him might be of interest:

“Following a meeting with Arron Banks and Andy Wigmore in Bristol last Tuesday, I have agreed to work with Leave.eu as a consultant for the duration of the EU Referendum campaign – unless, of course, we fall out and slaughter each other.”

I look forward to the BBC’s coverage of this development in the Leave campaign.
