Good to see it but the typeface they use is very user unfriendly. Why on earth do they do that ? Does anyone agree or is it just me ?

Agree about the typeface. This pretend typewriter font would be OK for headlines, but hopeless to read body text. Reading it is so tiring that I doubt anyone will bother beyond the first line or two. It is a casualty of our ‘style over substance’ mentality, no-one will take you seriously if it doesn’t look good.
There does not seem to be a simple ‘contact us’ button to point this out.

manchesterlad, totally agree. I wanted to contact them to make the same points but can’t. It is so stupid and so unnecessary. As a result, I shall not be following the website. Crazy !

I’m glad it’s not just me then – I think I will cancel that appointment with Specsavers!
No doubt designed by some whizz-kid with a “meeja studies” degree and zero common sense.

I think it’s a preset WordPress blog theme, but I could be wrong.

Yes, the whole website is a confusing mess, the typeface as you have mentioned, too many different colours, snippets of text here & there, it’s basically unclear, & what is the point? We don’t need an arty-looking thing to bash the message across, just plain easy to read text.

Cran, Exactly !

Agreed but I guess that is their style they have chosen. These things are annoyances but don’t destroy the basic reason for websites existence – ie to present text to people that they can read!
If the text were readable, the other annoyances – juvenile though I agree they are, and not to my taste – could be ignored. It could be argued that this modern design will appeal to an audience where a more staid design (like this one) would not. The text still has to be legible though!!
Let’s hope they get the message.

Agreed….will give it a couple of weeks to see if it improves……not looking good at present tho’.

I agree with most here, I only need one BBC biased sight and this one is the clearest by far. I have given up complaining to the BBC now as they clearly don’t give any illusion to non partisan reporting, they believe it is their right to report as they see fit, hence their response to my complaints always had the phrase ‘we believe….’ a sure sign of self righteousness.
Mark Steyn also has a messy site unfortunately.
