START THE WEEK OPEN THREAD

Here’s a new Open Thread to start the week. And the BBC Today programme on Radio 4 starts the week with a leftwing vengeance. In just 45 minutes we had the following political memes;

  1. The evil John Wittingdale is out to destroy the BBC. An excitable speech by Peter Kominsky at the BAFTA TV awards is hyped up by the luvvies to suggest apocalypse now for our “National Treasure” which is “the envy of the world” apparently. I was on BBC5 Live discussing this last night and at least told them to stop whingeing.
  2. There is no “weekend effect” in our NHS Hospitals. Researchers from Oxford University have “proven” that its as safe to die in the NHS than during the week. I am sure the Junior Doctors will enjoy this “research”
  3. There will be war across Europe should the UK leave the EU.
  4. It’s time to crack down on tax havens controlled by Britain.

This is sustained unrelenting left wing pro EU propaganda masquerading as public service broadcasting. As I said last night, IF the BBC is as wonderful and popular and loved as it claims to be, let it stand aside from the £3.5 annual tax extortion and compete freely. It won’t because it is too scared.

Whilst we are still on the subject of Manchester, I would like to commend Messrs Cameroon and Osbert, for their truly brilliant ideas of Crime Commissioners and much greater devolution of public spending powers to our large municipal authorities. Giving local people the chance to have a greater say in how their local and national taxes are spent is a really brilliant wheeze, and who better to have that local say than Mr Tony Lloyd, who is now both Mayor and Crime Commissioner. What could go wrong ? Absolutely nothing, but if it did, I’m pretty sure our National Treasure would report it instantly.

What struck me about Today this morning was the contrast in “interviewing” technique between that of Sarah talking woman to woman (so civilised) with Remainder Dame E Manningham-Buller and that of Humphrys abusing Boris. Sarah sat there accepting each one of Dame E’s pathetically weak arguments, more or less without demur. To the contrary, deftly deploying the “some say” procedure (presumably this procedure is taught at the BBC college of “journalism” since it’s deployed so often by BBC hacks), Humphrys smeared Boris with accusations of “racism” (the BBC/SJW and all-points-left nuclear option) in relation to Boris’s comments on Obama and “opportunism” concerning Boris’s decision to support brexit (ie in the Narrative, Boris’s only reason to support brexit is to further his political career). Humphrys refused to listen to or take up any of Boris’s responses: manifestly Humphrys (as with all the other “journalists” at the BBC) has his agenda and pursues it relentlessly.

Gordon Brown says quitting EU would not be British.
Nor is it British to sell our gold reserves at the bottom of the market.

Just got around to watching, Horizon: The End of the Solar System and this being the BBC, they had to ruin a perfectly good programme with this in the 14th minute:-

“As the brighter sun evaporates our oceans the effect is likely to be far more intense than the MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING we see today.”

A beautiful example of women on Women’s Hour this morning from an intellectual giant of feminism regarding dopey guys sending pictures of their tackle to women. No, I don’t know why either. Anyway, she proclaimed from upon high, with all the self-righteousness of a cycling environmentalist, that when a guy sent her a picture of his todger she put it on twitter and her blog to share it around with all and sundry based on the interesting logic that ‘ … If you are exposing yourself then you are fair game for whatever you get.’

Ah I see. So when women send pictures of themselves in various states of undress, to lecherous guys are those women ‘…fair game for whatever (they) get’?

If you have read the Guardian or taken in anything from the BBC on this subject then you will know that guys who spread pictures of semi naked women without their consent are evil, should be castrated and imprisoned for as long as it takes to build a gallows – and actually I am with them on that one.

Ought the interviewer not picked up on this obvious inverted logic?

I didn’t think she actually was a Feminazi. She seemed quite reasonable compared to most of the rabid loons moaners hour have on.

The issue with guys spreading images of naked partners is the ‘revenge porn’ example in which the woman is named and fully identified. The big difference with the men is that there was only a photo of their genitals and no further identification.

There is also the issue that the shots sent to women are mainly unsolicited, and from what I could gather the ones she did request (and I admire her honesty that she did ask for them on occasion) are exhibited with permission.

How would you feel though if you were talking to some guy on the internet, and the next thing, out of the blue he sent you a jpeg, which without warning, you opened and found it was his erect cock? I guess you’d be pretty annoyed !

There was another arsehole on Midweek, Brian Mullen, a man so famous and influential he doesn’t even warrant a Wikipedia entry! who was something to do with the Catholic church who appears to have taken issue because of his left wing Fascism which comes before the church or his religion. If only they could see Islam through the same prism.

Midweek is doing it as well?

        Appalling.
