Weekend Open Thread

Is Trump the only candidate for the Presidency?  Seems to be as Clinton rarely gets a mention on the BBC in comparison to Trump….Trump who is, according to Jim Naughtie, a joke, an idiot, and ego maniac…or possibly any number of other things which the BBC freely slanders him with such as he’s a crackpot, simplistic, phoney, a tragedy, a bar room blusterer…importantly though, serious, sensible and grown up people must talk to him and guide him onto the right path as he ‘stokes fear and anger’ by suggesting terrible solutions such as bringing law and order to the streets, preventing terrorism and ensuring American interests are put first in world trade and by not indulging in ‘foreign adventures’ that result in much money spent, much blood spilt and those ‘helped’ somewhat less than grateful….would have thought the BBC would be onboard, sounds like their kind of man in many respects.

Just watching the BBc 4 when pop went epic…Oh dear. What a steaming pile of b/s. The BBc manages to turn a “documentary” on the “concept” album into a BBc agenda driven pile of crap didn’t expect the BLM “anthem” turn up here whilst Ian Anderson mentions “climate change”.

Wonder why we expect them to be politically clued-up?…Roger Daltrey alone seems not to be a PC idiot.

Chris, you have to remember that Tull’s album “Thick as a Brick” contained one of the most important pieces of advice ever given by the music industry – “Always leave your underpants with someone you can trust”. Follow that maxim and you can’t go far wrong.

What has the BBC been saying on this lone-wolf (wolves if there were three or more), mentally ill, rapidly radicalised, disenfranchised, lower socio-economic level gunman in Munich?

Best scrub the CCTV footage immediately of the workplace violence lest the grief at the plight of the poor man/men becomes overwhelming. Or anger perhaps.

Oh, and to preserve the dignity of the victims.

“Meanwhile attempted abduction of serviceman story seems to have vanished”

        A dignity thing I’m sure.

Another pretext seems to be to “protect operational security methods”.

One does have to marvel at the technique though I must say. After all, if one opposes in any measure the rationale of information control being force-fed to us currently you can then be immediately condemned on the basis that “you oppose victim dignity”?….”you oppose the interests of the leetle cheeldren”?…..”you oppose the security system being able to operate in greater safety”?……

A rather clever neurolinguistic I think.

Yes indeed, no firm information at all.
After watching a couple of favourite films and sipping some of my favourite whisky, I turned the wireless on to hear Big Ben at midnight as I often do.

I swiftly turned off again at 00:07 when I heard the “theory” that this might have been “right-wing extremists” celebrating the 5th anniversary of Breivik’s massacre in Norway.

I will be the first to apologise to the *Very* Biased BBC if they have that story right, but in the meantime they can go f*ck themselves with a bargepole and continue showing lovely pictures of candles, stuffed toys, flowers, maybe the odd passing piano player, and of course, *all* of the current “trending” social meeja # tags, whatever, which are praying for Munich.

The rooftop video has the supposed attacker shouting “ich bin deutscher” (I am a German). But the people shouting down to him have been calling him “Arschloch”, “Wichser”, “Kanake” ( arsehole, wanker, wog). So this may be a “home grown” terrorist” rather than a blond, Teutonic patriot.
Although the “ich bin deutscher” sounded very native rather than “Kanakendeutsch” or even Munich dialect.
The video seems to start suddenly, no real context for what has been said or seen previously.

Downturn in anti-Trump bias ? Like have we got thru to BBC about their previous outrageous bias ?
R4 10pm news They had an expert fact check 8 large Trump claims as they played excerpts from his speech one by one
and the expert said to each one “yeh that’s pretty much right”
The only one that he pulled up Trump for, was the claim that 1.5 million convicted illegal immigrants are back out on the streets to commit more violence. That one he said was a bit cheeky cos although the actual stat was right the vast majority had been convicted of none violent crime.. so although they are out on the street they are not all likely to commit violence.

    – Then Yesterday I complained about R5’s Up AllNight becoming SneeratTrump all night, but this mornings coverage was different and held back on the sneering commenting on minor compromises Trump had made about respecting gays, helping existing immigrants, something about helping Latinos etc,

*Classified emails on her private server

      “Breath-taking ignorance and denial.”.

Please forgive me if I appear somewhat contrarian but I think this is done with full insight and a private inner awareness that the “system” whatever one takes that to mean has very firmly cornered itself. Any public admission from this point on can only take them and everyone else to a very dark place indeed.

It’s much like the analogy of the “mad old aunt” in the cupboard with a strange sort of conspiracy of silence while she shrieks and wails for all to hear.

ANY consensual acknowledgement of the problem then DEMANDS action.

Our Lords and Masters are in grave trouble with those they are nominally appointed to serve and they very well know it.

They will also know that history has an annoying habit of throwing up a Robespierre or a Lenin or ilk despite the most ferocious barriers in their way to their destiny.

The intensifying of the control mechanisms are symptomatic (Facebook and Twitter are merely the more visible manifestations).

They are very worried of a most primal accounting for all this , of that I am certain.

All so predictable and predicted and avoidable yet now too late for an amicable solution.

If I may quote (sort of) the great man Winston Churchill of Stalin “I would give the Devil himself a kind word if he were to help in destroying Hitler”. I’m very much afraid I am of the same view at this point.

They seem to be incapable of seeing that it is their refusal to take sensible, practical steps to deal with these problems, that is causing the people to turn to more ‘extreme’ politicians. They think it is the economy, globalisation, etc, that is leading to the ‘rise of the far right’. It isn’t. It is the refusal of the political elite to take the obvious necessary steps to protect their people. If Le Pen gets elected in France, it won’t be because of her amazing political skills, it will be a reaction against their defeatist arrogant attitudes – i.e. ‘You (the little people) must get used to dying. We don’t give a shit about you dying. We care more for our naive world view than we care about your security and way of life.’

A prescient Saturday morning poem from Thomas Babington Macauley…if you believe, as Daniel Pipes does, that we shall not so willingly surrender European society to Islam.

      Heap heavier still the fetters; bar closer still the grate;
Patient as sheep we yield us up unto your cruel hate.
But by the shades beneath us, and by the gods above,
Add not unto your cruel hate your still more cruel love.
Then leave the poor plebian his single tie to life –
The sweet, sweet love of daughter, of sister, and of wife,
The gentle speech, the balm for all that his vext soul endures,
The kiss in which he half forgets even such a yoke as yours.
      Still let the maiden’s beauty swell the father’s breast with pride;
Still let the bridegroom’s arms enfold an unpolluted bride.
Spare us the inexpiable wrong, the unutterable shame,
      That turns the coward’s heart to steel, the sluggard’s blood to flame;
Lest when our latest hope is fled ye taste of our despair,
And learn by proof in some wild hour, how much the wretched dare.”

Which is pretty obvious if you read the post Mr Cookie-get-to-the-back-of-the-Queue. Not that bright, are you.

Any chance you might address the substantive question of BBC news left liberal bias and their inflexible refusal to acknowledge that bias?

Frank Gardener this morning on the Today programme suggests that the Munich shooting is more akin to the schoolboy massacres that happen in the US. I could buy that Frank, if a) the gunman (where did the BBC suddenly yesterday get the word shooter?) wasn’t of Middle Eastern origin and b) where did the gunman get his weapon (I am assuming that they are not as readily available in Germany as the US.)

I’ve just listened to Gardner. Seems that Today gets its episodes up really promptly for those wanting to listen again. So it’s technically good. Pity about the content, of course.

Even though Gardner acknowledged it is early days, he still managed that absurd speculation likening the attack to those in US schools. Anything to divert attention from the Religion of Peace. It really is pathetic, especially since Gardner himself was a victim of an Islamic terrorist attack that left him paralysed.

BBC standard response to all Islamic terror will be applied to Munich.
    1. Blame far right if possible
    2. Blame the police
    3. Blame the West or his time in the West as forcing him to make a protest no matter how ghastly it was
4.Claim the perpetrator was not really a Muslim . He might have drunk a beer somewhere or had a sausage. Wasn’t a regular attender of the local Mosque. Anything that can be claimed to dilute his adherence to the RoP will do.
    5. Claim he was mentally disturbed and who was easily influenced on the internet.
6 Helpfully point out he acted alone. (Why this is seen as somehow making it less frightening to the people of Europe I don’t get as it seems to me much worse than if he were part of planned attack by a gang which is easier to stop.)
7 Claim that this is nothing to do with Islam and have an endless parade of Muslims and the great and the good telling us so.
8.Remind us that the terrorists want us to respond with hatred towards Islam and that we should not do so.
    9. Claim there has been a 10000% increase in hate crimes against Muslims and draw our attention to the moral equivalence of throwing a bacon butty at a Mosque to running over 84 men ,women and children or shooting people in a city centre.
    10. If all else fails blame Brexit or the rise of Pegida or AFD, or the FN in France or anybody but Muslims.

I know that the BBC runs a lot of repeats but this is getting so predictable.

Last nights coverage of the attack in Munich was the worst I’ve ever seen of one of these increasingly frequent events.

The constant references to “the Breivik anniversary”across all channels and today in the print media suggest journalistic group think or something far, far, more sinister.

No, I’ll correct that….the non coverage of the arrempted kidnap of a serving RAF airman at Marham is even worse, especially as it is strongly rumoured that this was not the first attempt to kidnap British armed forces personnel.

In Britain there is more of a media sh1t storm about criticism of a Muslim in a hijab reading the news than that service personnel are being advised not to go about their business wearing the Queens uniform. What is going on?

“German Iranian” just makes it worse.

If all terrorists originated in a single country, say Iraq, it might just be possible to argue that their motivation was the second Iraq war or some such. In this case, however, the terrorist isn’t even from an Arab country.

The single common factor is the one that the BBC doesn’t want to talk about – Islam.

Fortunately the story is well and truly out, in spite of all the MSM’s obfuscation.

While the media reaction sets the scene it’s often mere froth. There’s a much bigger political problem….the global reach and power of Sunni oil money from Qatar and Saudi….both wahabbite, Shia states. This is rarely mentioned, rarely even hinted at. But it can be assumed to buy a lot of influence at the global top tables.

While yesterday’s Munich atrocity was under way, I found myself not even bothering to switch on the radio or TV, the news from both of which was confused, outdated and, for the most part, dominated by talking heads speculating pointlessly. Far more interesting was using the Going Postal blog as a news aggregator, drawing feeds in from all over the Internet. I assume Twitter must have been similar but I won’t use Twitter so can’t say for sure.

What goes through the mind of a man/animal who takes a knife to women and children for any reason? But when the reason given is “offended by the father scratching his thigh in the presence of the man’s wife” then we are on the way to a nightmare society. Interestingly the local prosecutor is quoted as saying
” it was “hard to comprehend that such a gesture could have sparked such a serious attack from a person in full mental health or devoid of any ideological intent”.”
Well the mental health part will probably have to wait, as for the ideological bit,

Thanks to the BBC, I now understand that the Munich Islamic terrorist was not associated with Islamic State. Not sure anyone said he was, Islamic terrorism was going long before the establishment of ISIS. But good to know, they do get blamed for rather a lot.

Moreover, he is clearly linked to Anders Behring Breivik. Erm, why you ask? Because he carried out his murders on the same day as Breivik. Oh ok. So the 7/7 bombers in Britain, who were also NOT linked to Islamic State, could be linked to Joan of Arc, as on the 7th of July 1456 she was acquitted of heresy.

Come on BBC and the German police, you have to do better than this!

How about, and I am just floating this, he was only accidentally an Islamist, perhaps on his mother’s side? He was a man who was protesting at the racist Brexit voters and Tory scum, whilst seeking to save the NHS by providing the German health service with more patients.

That makes more sense than the gobbledygook the BBC/German Authorities are peddling at the moment.

Perhaps Angela Merkle should invite another million young Muslim males into Germany to police the ones who already there?

It’s possible, but I don’t like coincidences – particularly at a time like this. If his family originated in Greenland, Laos, or Nepal, I might just buy it, but they didn’t. Apparently he has dual German/Iranian nationality. Why dual?

Perhaps, technically, he wasn’t directly inspired by ISIS, but I can’t help feeling from his choice of target that there’s a deep anti-Western sentiment in there somewhere, and a lot of that has its origins in Islam.

I won’t be surprised if, in due course, other connections are reported. Like, for instance, the source of his Glock and numerous rounds of ammunition.

Another mentally disturbed, lonely, angry, internet using, persecuted, lone-wolf misfit from a poor background, whose school friends were not nice to him? I don’t believe anything we’re being told at the moment unless it comes from the lips of Nigel Farage, or perhaps Paul Joseph Watson.

It’s a quite obvious fake. Apart from using the wrong typeface (which, however implausibly, could be a result of a person weirdly overriding the BBC’s style sheets in their own browser to impose their own font in the headline of BBC articles and body text, while leaving the navigation and photo caption alone), the use of capitals on every word runs against every – genuine – headline on their site.

The capitalisation of every word is a style that you tend to see more on American sites, while in Britain the prevailing style is to only capitalise the first word and proper nouns. There are exceptions on both sides, of course, but every site tends to capitalise its headlines the same way every time.

There’s also a grammatical error in the first line of body text, which again is not impossible, but unlikely.

              ‘using the wrong typeface . . .’

Talking of visual presence in its several forms, the BBC’s owes a great deal to the sculptor and typeface designer Eric Gill (1882 – 1940). In 1932, for example, he produced ‘Prospero and Ariel’, a frieze that adorns the entrance to Broadcasting House in London. And much more recently, the BBC adopted the fount Gill Sans for its graphic identity and for many of its on-screen graphics.

The latter was some time after the publication of Fiona MacCarthy’s biography, ‘Eric Gill’ (1989). Drawing on his private papers, she demonstrates that Gill exercised his purported ‘droit de seigneur’ with domestic staff, and committed incest with his two eldest—underage—daughters, Betty and Petra (one of whom he sodomised). He did the same with his sisters Angela (almost certainly), Cicely and Gladys. The same source also reveals that he performed sexual acts on his dog.

It would be grossly unfair, of course, to make any link between Gill’s historical proclivities and the present-day broadcasting institution. To the best of my knowledge, the only person in British television to have been convicted of a sexual crime is Fred Talbot, the ITV weather forecaster. Who worked for ITV. But I do sometimes find myself wondering what first attracted the BBC to the bestial and incestuous paedophile Eric Gill.

What a short memory you have. How about the one where you whined on about how a BBC news report about the hot weather was all to do with their supposed obsession with climate change, even though the article mentioned nothing about that topic and was an accurate report of the weather of the day?

It was only a few days ago. Surely you can’t have forgotten already?

And you understood nothing of my reply, which was to demonstrate that once the BBC have brainwashed people into believing ‘climate change’ will bring more ‘extreme weather’ (they have, but it hasn’t), all they have to do is report out of the ordinary (but not unprecedented) temperatures, rainfall etc. and those same people will automatically make the connection (though it has to be said on most occasions the BBC reporter will make that erroneous connection just in case). Job done.

                That was my point.

I also added that the BBC are nothing more than a mouthpiece for the eco-socialist global warming alarmist movement, citing their fateful 28gate meeting as the point at which they committed – hook, line and sinker.

                So where’s the conspiracy theory?

You claim that there has been no change in severe weather events. Unfortunately you failed to cite a reliable source to justify your claim. You may say that there has been no change but the science says otherwise. The science also provides evidence to support its claim.
                  https://www3.epa.gov/climatechange/science/extreme-weather.html

You accuse the BBC of ‘brainwashing’.
Have people been brainwashed into accepting heliocentrism?
Have people been brainwashed into accepting Germ Theory?
Have people been brainwashed into accepting the Theory of Evolution.

There are people who don’t accept those theories. Some of them even claim to be scientists. Should every natural history programme include a creationist to provide balance? Should every physics programme include a geocentrist to provide balance? Should every medical programme include a homeopath to provide balance?

The scientific consensus says that they shouldn’t. It’s exactly the same with climate change.

Ali David Sonboly, 18, is described as a shy loner who had psychiatric problems (possibly depression) and acted alone…Ok.

Where does an 18year old boy get hold of a gun in a country with strict gun controls such as Germany?

Not only that, how does he manage to also stockpile 300 rounds of ammunition too?

He has mental health problems and in his bedroom they find literature related to mass shootings yet his parents (as far we know at this time) knew nothing of this and never sought extra help for their son?

I wonder if this going to be a case of a “shocked” family who have no idea why their son would do this?

The last time I looked at the BBC News page half of it was about Munich and half was about Breivik, they seem determined to link the two, yet there is very little info about his motives. The ISIS link is also a bit tenuous as well as he’s described as of Iranian origin so that doesn’t add up in my mind either.

The thing that interests me is that had this happened in America then it would’ve been all about gun control, yet that’s strangely absent here. As far as I know no one in the media is asking the obvious question of how an 18yr old boy managed to get hold of a gun and 300 rounds of ammunition.

Also it would seem strange, though certainly not impossible, that the German authorities would lie about something that could be so easily disproved. If it were true that he was Syrian it would seem more likely that they’d announce it but then downplay the significance or just try to ignore it all together.

But all those lies are ones that have to be debated and argued endlessly, even if the answer is obvious!

The problem I have is that in this case this would a very specific lie, either he’s Iranian or Syrian , it wouldn’t be a hard thing to find out for any reasonable journalist .so why lie about it.

Way too much focus on crappy American black acts (Marvin Gaye/Parliament excepted), rappers and some blonde woman who was on all the way through who I’d never heard of. Wakeman was alright but this had the feel of something that had been written by a BBC committee to include ‘minorities’ and ‘socialism’ (Woody Guthrie). Trouble is, all the crap I mentioned. I don’t profess to be an expert on concept albums but having watched that, I didn’t learn any more than already knew. That’s the problem with the BBC these days – you learn nothing except their agenda. I have CD’s in the thousands but those were the only two I could think of; I suppose it’s possible I might have more. A pity, Operation Mindcrime wasn’t included because for a very short period (prior to Nevermind) it looked like Queensryche were the future of metal.

And which side would they have blamed then ? Thankfully in those precarious times we had ‘sensible’ and measured reporting from both the Beeb and ITV. I often think about that tragedy at Aberfen and how the nation was in total shock, with news reporters in tears as they reported the disaster from on the spot. Would today’s glamourjournos with their sleek hair, lip gloss, trendy haircuts and beards report in a similar manner, er no, none of them have an ounce of compassion when tragedy strikes………. and now its over to the sports news.

The World Service seems to operate completely below the radar of traditional, patriotic MPs, who should be demanding an enquiry into this now wholly biased and dysfunctional service. It is now extremely left-wing, man-man-made climate-change fanatical, islam-friendly and, yes, largely anti-West in its outlook. It is quite appalling. Up to a decade or two ago, its remit was to broadcast from a stance of promoting British and western democratic values, but ever since it decided it would become “The World’s Radio”, it wants to act as the voice for all nations. This is wrong in principal, and in fact impossible to carry out, since it no longer operates from a stable foundation of truth or morality. Others can express it much better than I, and perhaps they will on this forum.

Anyone who works shifts and has the opportunity to listen to Al Beeb World Service will soon realise that it is not fit for purpose. Why hasn’t our Tory Government taken action ? what on earth do the so-called Trustees do ? and what are they there for ?

Picture of cop/model would not be out of place on the cover of 1984, the state propagandist slips ever further into the role of thought crime enforcer, stifling independent thought and free speech under the guise of the nonsensical catchall term, ‘hate crime’. The term itself is beginning to be used in such a way that it blurs the boundary between thought and deed, in BBCspeak a ‘hate crime’ is rapidly becoming anything that does not fit it’s increasingly authoritarian ‘liberal’ narrative.
The word ‘hate’ is becoming one of the most overused of our time, with Obama being a particularly heavy but also very selective user. The word hasn’t been bandied about so much regarding the recent shooting of US Police officers for instance, or the vicious stabbing of a mother and her three children in France. Or indeed the crushing carnage , mutilation and death delivered by Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel on the streets of Nice, but of course, hate is in the eye of the beholder.

Please do watch the film “Equilibrium”…….

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equilibrium_(film)

It will unquestionably be the case that the machinery of the state will become much more punitive before any progression to the bright, sunlit, uplands.

The reactive nature of most systems simply cannot help be otherwise.

The flip-point transitioning to a new “equilibrium” however can be abnormally rapid so just watch the next 5 yrs with keen interest.

The issue he raises at about 1min30 is one that passed me by and I’m grateful he raised it, highlights both the agenda and staggering hypocrisy of most of our media. If only the BBC would give this an airing, though I fear it would have to be a very cold day indeed.

“Mr Smith said his wife, Liz, had been a victim of online abuse and claimed there was now a level of abuse, anti-Semitism and misogyny in Labour that was not there before Mr Corbyn became leader.”

In a BBC world which was not topsy-turvy, this would warrant a headline eg “Abuse levels soar under Corbyn – Smith”.

Instead we have the limp-wristed “Corbyn aide accused over office entry”, while Smith’s quote is buried at the foot of the article, fifth para from the end.
