BBC tv news this morning, a typical morning, where item after item tells us not enough is being done about an issue and the only solution is more Government funding.
Every call for what is often euphemistically but inaccurately termed ‘investment’ in the public sector is met with a sympathetic and often an approving response from BBC presenters and interviewers. Rarely do we hear difficult questions as to what spending areas might be reduced or what additional taxes levied in order to satisfy this seemingly never ending procession of public sector begging bowl bearers.
This morning cramed into just a few minutes of BBC airtime I hear requests for public cash from dementia researchers, NHS A&E departments, Yemen Civil War refugees and a group promoting people with disabilities wanting employment. All, no doubt, cases worthy of consideration. But the overload of examples is overwhelming. The lack of any pushback or searching questioning from the BBC is numbing.
The quote at the top of this piece “You’ve answered your own question” came from one grateful campaigner given a platform to ask for cash this morning in response to a BBC interviewer who had just criticised the tight-fisted Government so effectively that the arguments of the campaigner became almost redundant – the BBC had taken a stance so favourable to his requests that he needn’t even respond to the so-called question. The redundancy of this man as spokesman being ironic since he was the campaigner for the employment of the disabled.
If you take the BBC at face value it really seems that again and again the Government is proved to be incompetant, short-sighted and mean spirited – after all ‘investment’ pays back future dividends, right?
Just one example this morning of a BBC news report delivered in a way approving of public spending plans – BBC London tells me the Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan has some ‘green initiative’. The BBC seemed to like that a lot.
“This morning cramed into just a few minutes of BBC airtime I hear requests for public cash from dementia researchers, NHS A&E departments, Yemen Civil War refugees and a group promoting people with disabilities wanting employment.”
Yes, I thought exactly the same. I switched over to SKY and was confronted by a “thought for the day” type slot in which some doctor from an immigrant background was sanctimoniously telling us that we should not worry about health tourists because she felt an obligation to help everybody.
This is a matter of principle and a doctor’s opinion carries no extra weight as far as I’m concerned. It’s also hard to imagine SKY in its present sorry state allowing a sermon presenting the opposing point of view.
The Sun : BBC bans unaccompanied children from studios in bid to prevent sick child sex attacks from paedo stars like Jimmy Savile The Sun -14 hours ago
Shame Merkel didn’t apply the rule of no unaccompanied children when she threw open the gates to the ‘Syria refugees’. It would have made a lot of difference to a lot of lives. Some would be living that are now dead: http://john-moloney.blogspot.com/2016/12/co-defendant-angela-merkel.html
An amazing piece on Radio 4 Today program just before 9:00am about the anniversary of Pearl Harbour. How on earth this could be politicised must have taken some thinking , but yet the BBC managed to turn the entire piece into yet another swipe at Donald Trump!
This is a solemn day of remembrance for those who lost their lives in war, yet the BBC sees none of that respect, a chance to attack Trump is just too good to miss and they grabbed it with both hands !
You begin to wonder if the bBC is actually revealing itself as the Trade Union for the entire public sector? I think of their presenters as DJ’s………but perhaps wrongly, when in reality they are shop stewards.
‘bBC is actually revealing itself as the Trade Union for the entire public sector’
You’ve hit the nail on the head there. Of course the Labour Party had until recently played rather effectively the role of trades union for public sector workers – with a special emphasis on promoting the pay and employment prospects of the higher ranking public servants. The likes of Mark Thomas and other BBC execs being particularly grateful beneficiaries.
These people know what they are about. This morning a campaigner given his BBC platform to ask for cash had gathered his statistics including this startling fact: “There are 400,000 civil servants and a million employed in the NHS…”
I thank him for that timely reminder of the heavy non-productive weight of the tax-eating burden on the rest of us. The BBC seems to dream of a world where all of us either work in the NHS or for the BBC. Who would then pay the wages?
Well, S.t we are now experiencing in the media, the generation of ‘media studies’ graduates, so your description of DJ’s isn’t so far from the truth. They’ve all got their own agenda, and it isn’t from years of life experience !
Connie St. Louis you may recall, destroyed the career of Sir Tim Hunt, a Nobel prize winning scientist whose discoveries may even save the life of Connie St. Louis one day. Connie lied through her teeth to get the ‘white male’ destroyed, and the BBC quickly signed up to ensure Hunt would be crushed without any discussion. The BBC brought Hunt on air for his soviet style apology and they still continued to stamp on his reputation until he was ruined.
It turned out that Connie St. Louis was a lying, deceitful, man-hating, liar whose C.V. was as accurate as a BBC report on Donald Trump. However, as she was a fat, stupid, black woman the BBC didn’t trouble themselves to point out any of the facts or even challenge the dim woman.
Hunt lost his various posts whilst the long-suffering students at University College London had to put up with St Louis’ vacuous man hating.
Now, at last, a year later the University has finally got shot of the devious trouble maker. Despite her dishonest C.V. she’ll no doubt be quickly employed – by the BBC as Science correspondent perhaps.
Job awaiting her as a regular contributor to BBC investigations into racism in higher education and life in general.
She can be a regular on Question Time, and could stand as a Tory MP for Treezer’s government.
….or be a back up to the Radio 4 continuity announcer giant, Neil Nunnes, who Richard Ingrams once remarked “I am sure he is a delightful person, but I find his heavy Jamaican accent very irritating, especially before The Archers.”
It’s the strangled vowels of Veejay or Veegee (VG?)(who sounds or sounded Welsh when he started at the BBC) that tortures my brain. I enjoy different accents and voices but sometimes if there is something fundamentally askew – Lyse Doucet is a prime example – I find I spend my time ‘lost in translation’ rather than listening to what the person is actually saying, deriving benefit from the information that they are trying to convey.
While we are on difficulties with Beeboids, who is the grinning blonde lady in a red dress who insists on greeting me when I sign in to the BBC web site? I guess that she might be rather good looking in a different light and with a different camera viewpoint.
The photographer and BBC Art Director have done her no favours at all.
A photo of a wrinklie Attenborough is quite a relief after that!
In case anyone thinks I may be being unfair to Connie St Francis please enjoy this excruciating clip from a BBC program where Milo Yiannopoulos tries to explain his views and the intellectual motor mouth Connie St Francis heckles him. Eventually Milo is forced to stop and then when given the mike, Connie St Francis continues her deceit.
Actually the full broadcast shows her at her dopey self, as she wanders away into uninterrupted nonsense for what feels like years at a time.
The comment made by Sir Tim which offended the liberals was made to the World Conference of Science Journalists in June,2015.
“Let me tell you about my trouble with girls,” the 72-year-old told the audience in South Korea. “Three things happen when they are in the lab: you fall in love with them, they fall in love with you, and when you criticise them they cry.”
Two words are suffice to anyone who were offended by these remarks.
If I was ever in a situation where I said something that caused a ‘twitter storm’, I hope I’d have the courage to tell everybody to get stuffed. I’ve always been impressed by the Duke of Wellington’s response when a woman tried to blackmail him over an affair: ‘Publish and be damned!’
What the Sir Tim Hunt affair demonstrates is that if you play the BBC/Left game, you will always be crushed. However if you adopt the Donald Trump, Nigel Farage ‘don’t give a flying buck what you think about me’ view you actually win support.
See Milo at Miami University. Link on another thread. A real tour de force for free speech and great that so many young students agreed with what he was saying .
Quite right, Cranmer. It’s something I’ve said many times. Absolutely the last thing you should do when faced with faux outrage is to apologise. It’s merely seen as weakness. You’d think that much would be apparent by now to anyone who falls foul of it.
A late comment on the Louise Casey report.
Just seen the headlines about the Indonesian earthquake up in Aceh province.
There was a wide shot of a large number of worried looking men and women. As I would be.
Every woman in the shot was wearing a head covering. Lots of different bright colours.
No-one was wearing a black head covering, nor a niqab, nor a burqua. Aceh is 97% Muslim.
I do wish the bBBC would stop its convenient muddying of the waters between religion and culture and behaviours In order to seek to disguise its blatant pro-open door immigration multi-culti narrative.
A trip around the shopping malls in Jakarta would screw up the narrative big time. What with burquas being almost non existent, except for tourists, women with bare legs, no head gear at all they would go mad. To rub it in places like Plaza Indonesia have the bare faced cheek to wish a happy Christmas in big and run risqué fashion events. The poor luvvies would have to go to Saudi Arabia or Iran to find a safe space.
Gaxvil
You’ve reminded me of the time I went into a Mexican themed restaurant in Manama, Bahrain.
After a few days in Saudi and then stopping at the causeway Mosque for my host’s sunset prayers, it was quite a pleasant shock to be welcomed in to the restaurant by an attractive young woman receptionist wearing……….hot pants!
So you are indeed 100% on the money.

Your contribution serves again to point out that there is more direct experience of other cultures ( and not necessarily negative btw) across the globe from writers on this website than ever you get from the ‘journalists’ at the bBBC.
Magically, one Randhir Singh Bains writes in the Telegraph today (Thurs)
Quote.. lack of integration afflicts Britain’s other religious minorities, not just Muslims………some Sikh temples in Britain have placed a ban on solemnising marriages between Sikh and non Sikh, although no such ban exists in Sikhism…………….While Britain’s religious minorities remain stuck in cultural black holes, their co-religionists in India and Pakistan have moved on. You see more Burka-clad women in London than in islamabad, while Bollywood hosts more marriages between Sikhs nd non Sikhs than Birmingham does…….
Q.E.D.
Offering them shelter and the rights of the UK citizen to stay here is not enough. It is the ‘White’ man’s fault Again, again, again, and yet again……….. ad infinitum.
Come now, BBC, surely it is newsworthy to explain to the viewer/listener what the Muslim Council’s response is to the Casey Report? https://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/12/uk-muslim-leader-muslims-failure-to-integrate-is-fault-of-uk-non-muslims
If we fervently followed a cult handbook the way the Muslim does, we would have long passed the point where realisation that ‘turning the other cheek’ (as in Bible) will not work and, its safe to say, insurrection would be the order of the day.
On the DP on Monday they had a sanctimonious Labour MP for somewhere in London who proudly announced that he was the first MP ever to be elected by a majority of voters who were not born in the U.K. This is not something to be proud of but something ,that if you are white British ,to be terrified of. Labour have been playing identity politics for years but, in large part because of the help they get from the BBC propaganda unit, have been able to con white voters that they represented them. But the cat is now out of the bag and the sensible white voters are beginning to realise that Labour doesn’t represent them , doesn’t care about them, in fact despises them. UKIP will pick up lots of Disillusioned voters and Labour will become a party which represents urban minorities. But the minorities will soon become large enough to form their own parties based on their colour/religion and Labour will be a relic of a bygone age as will the BBC. Serves them right but the damage that they have done on their journey to oblivion is enormous and may prove terminal to our way of life.

Radio 4 is in prime form this morning! Wandering into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee I reflexively switched on R4 (a habit I find hard to break) to hear the West Indian continuity announcer who still has trouble with English pronounciation after he was imported to ‘rub our noses in diversity’, chirping away, followed by a trailer for a programme pretending that BMEs are leaving cities to live in the English countryside (like hell they are!) followed by some rubbish about the ‘beauty’ of sport having nothing to do with ‘nationalism’- with a female professional soccer (or was it rugby?) player.
Currently BBC Radio 4 is like playing ‘spot the Leftist meme’ with a moron, it really is.
I heard Kezia Dugdale from the Scottish Labour Party (a rather shrunken entity these days) introduced this morning on Today around 0820… the Beeboid said something about a reordering of the UK as a federal state which might enable Scotland to do its own deals with or even stay a member of the EU whilst remaining part of the federal UK….
Then Kezia herself came on….”It would allow the nations and regions of the UK to have more power and responsibility whilst also enabling the transfer of finances from richer to poorer areas within the framework of the UK”…..why did the phrases “having your cake and eating it” and “keep the Barnett formula” spring immediately to mind?
I thought the Beeb was against a Federalist system. When Trump was elected with Hillary supposedly getting “the popular vote” they were dead set against a system that gave a say to the smaller states. With the EU they were all for a system that centralizes power. One day, maybe, we will get news without opinion.
Kezia is the calibre of politician we have to deal with north of the border. It’s like listening to a fifth form girl wittering on mindlessly in a debate.
Oh integration – I know what that is:-
1) Don’t learn the language
2) Don’t adopt any customs of your new country
3) Dress in your ‘national’ costume
4) Live in a ghetto of similar and teach your kids that the British are sinful, evil and sub-human
5) Shop and trade only with your countrymen
6) Preserve and push your culture and customs
7) Regularly pop back to your homeland to look after your farm, factory etc.
8) Send your kids to the homeland to marry, be punished for straying, undergo ‘training’ or have their genitals mutilated
9) If any in your ‘country of convenience, criticise your behaviour – just call them, racist xenophobes and say it’s all their fault
Sorry, but I disagree. It is the fault of we non-muslims who do not convert and do not integrate with muslims. Well that is the Beeboid view. Except that Beeboids do not convert or integrate. Strange !
Grant – if you put it in the context of a school playground it makes sense. The bbc is the nasty, manipulative kid, encouraging others to fight. Of course, he enjoys the result and walks away ‘blameless’.
Not bbc but it’s us cousin cnn. Started off introducing a piece on merkel and the burka ban so sat back expecting a full on merkel bashing. Not a chance, they done a complete 180 and switched it to trump bashing on the same subject with a white Muslim in a headscarf. Just full on blame everything on trump.
CNN since the election are just full on trump hate and not even hiding their love for the dems. They are currently trying in vain to big up Barry’s final days on the job before his eviction on Jan 20 th. They are lie rally losing and throwing the toys out of the prams every single day. The rally last night where Donald announced the new defence guy is driving them nuts, it one good thing to say about it. Don lemon the guy who had the run in with sheriff ‘take no shit’ Clarke looked so pained today along with michael Moore to continue the whining.
At least 2,000 educators around the country reported racist slurs and other derogatory language leveled against white students in the first days after Donald Trump was elected president. But the group that surveyed the teachers didn’t publish the results in its report on Trump-related “hate crimes.”
Asked last week to provide the data, SPLC initially said it was having a hard time getting the information “from the researchers.” Pressed, SPLC spokeswoman Kirsten Bokenkamp finally revealed that “about 20 percent answered affirmatively to that question.”
Bokenkamp did not provide an explanation for the absence of such a substantial metric — at least 2,000 bias-related incidents against white students — from the report, which focuses instead on “anti-immigrant sentiment,” “anti-Muslim sentiment” and “slurs about students of color” related to the election.
“They left that result out because it would not fit their ideological narrative,” former Education Department civil rights attorney Hans Bader said. “It was deemed an inconvenient truth.”
But the SPLC acknowledges that it has not independently verified any of the claims. It collected most of them on its website, many anonymously.
Bader pointed out that most of the anti-minority “hate crimes” and “hate incidents” cited by SPLC do not legally constitute hate crimes, and many involve constitutionally protected speech.
“It is simply ridiculous that SPLC treats ‘build the wall’ as hate rhetoric,” he said. The center counted people mentioning “build the wall” as 467 incidents of hate.
“Alas, these days the SPLC is mainly a fundraising machine,” said Gail Heriot, a US Commission on Civil Rights member who voted against Friday’s resolution. “The more it can persuade its donors that hate groups have penetrated every nook and cranny of American society, the more money it can raise.
The SPLC has no credibility with anyone — on the left or the right — who is familiar with its methods.”
Thoughtful, I suppose the Southern Poverty Law Centre is yet another one of those anti-British/White ‘Charities’? Where do they get their money from? Interesting.
Here is another paragraph which just about sums up the left:
“The group won’t use its $315 million in assets to investigate the “hate crimes,” or at least help alleged victims file police reports or provide them counseling or other assistance, but it has offered “sympathy.””
Here is another paragraph which just about sums up the left:

Meanwhile, I am still waiting for a convincing explanation of how the SPLC was able to find a photograph of Thomas Mair, the murderer of Jo Cox, within hours of him having been arrested.
How did this far-Left, American, Soros-funded, race-bating pressure group come to have a photograph of an obscure, mentally ill Englishmen who had given no warning of his murderous inclinations, nor been in any sense involved with the media, the police or international political activity?
Tired of the BBC Guardian leftoids ramming it don our throats that the far right are seducing the gullible British and European workers and victims of austerity into anti semitism?
As this Israeli video indicates, the problem is closer to home.
Will our Jewish leftoids in London please accept the truth. Its the Ropers who want you dead, not Brexiters.
Strange though? – Trump is being nothing but positive about America and the World but it makes the Left enraged to the point of needing sedation.
I do try to rationalize and analyse it but I still don’t get it.
And Trump won`t be screwing the taxpayers of the Rust Belt for his grandiose salary as Obama did-and Clintons 1, 2 and all the rest of her coterie would have done.
Salary of Trump will be $1 apparently. How much have the Americans saved themselves by not allowing the Clintons to sponge off them?
And, if we add the end of the Air Force jets that Obama and Clinton would have been saddling with attractive women and Wall St taxi riders?
Then normally the BBC Lefties would have trumpeted this as ” the man of the people, a la Castro”. Would they not?
Not now-populist, patronising, demeaning the office, gestures and no doubt, putting Boeing jobs at risk.
The BBC-no pleasing them, so why does anybody still try?
Did the BBC’s TODAY programme get spoofed again today? Poor mental arithmetic? Deficient knowledge of the big, wide world? Not using a pocket calculator? Transmitting ‘FakeNews’?
What? FakeNews? FalseNews? The BBC? Forfend!
In the 8.30-9.00am segment, near the middle, there was a Justin Webb led item with a female contributor. As she spoke the clamour of alarms, flashing lights, ringing bells and klaxons seemed so loud, so bright in my head and kitchen but not, apparently, for Justin in his BBC studio.
So let’s just see what the UK response is to the German talk of a burka ban.
Someone said, there is no such thing as hypocrisy in politics and self preservation is Merkel’s motive we know.
Merkel is not a fit and proper person to be running the EU, which of course she does . If there is a single reason why the UK is leaving , it is Germany. The rest just posture , Gernany pulls the strings . And what a disastrous puppeteer they are. But we knew that in 1914 and 1939.
And we know some of what East Germany was up to before the wall fell.
I still don’t get – with massive unemployment in the Mediterranean countries, why didn’t Merkel invite them to fill Germany’s needs instead of the ‘refugees’? Too much time spent following, Nobel Obama I guess.
Gaxvil, my guess is that Germany didn’t want to import workers from other EU countries because overall that would not lead to an increase in the pool of labour (and thus taxpayers) in the EU as a whole. Better to import people from Turkey,Syria, north Africa etc to prop up falling European birth rates and guarantee the cushy pensions of EU apparatchiks.
I think the Germans would have made a better job of WW2 if they had properly set their economy on a war footing earlier. They tried to get away with slave labour, while the Allies were far outproducing them for materiel. Then invading Russia wasn’t such a good idea either..
To me that whole stereotype of German efficiency needs revising. The blind adherence to authority still seems to fit though, they seem happy to salute Merkel as she orders them off a cliff.
According to the book ‘Operation Mincemeat’ about Allied psy-ops before the Normandy landings in WW2, the British boffins suggested that hubris was the fatal flaw of the Germans. Excessive pride and an inability to accept that plans might go wrong. I certainly think Merkel’s ‘let them all come’ pronouncement was an example of that.
Policing in the UK is ‘policing by consent’ – fair enough.
But the Police along with too many others have adopted the approach of, “How will this sit with the MSM – WILL THEY APPROVE?
The answer to that is simple, Miller and Soubry are to be lionised used in the
continuous “Jo Cox” industry agenda of political manipulation with all the bells and whistles.
Mr Farage of course is the thorn in the side, thankfully due to his own durition too high profile to ignore.
Whereas Stephen Lennon (Robinson), too be blunt, they would be very happy for him to be removed … permanently. All of our self-serving corrupt political elite, the erm “Media Party” are willing to go to any depths,(they pretty much already have).
They are terrified of his profile growing, they have their rancid stink fingers so deep into the petrodollar pie, they are totally compromised … and of course they are spineless/clueless.
Islamophobia-an irrational fear of Islam that drives Muslims to flee their peaceful counties and come to the hated west.
Islamomonia- what they all do when they get here.
Islamablamia– nothing is ever their fault; or responsibility
BBC continue to bang on about Joseph Roundtree Trust and it’s spurious poverty statistics. Anyone on under 60 percent of national earnings is ‘poor ‘. It’s a statistical Inevitability that the number of people within this crazy definition will go up and down over time . That’s how averages work. The JRT twisted the figures even more to inflate the numbers of poor by looking at earnings after housing costs. The answer to this is to be realistic about the real reasons why some people are poor and the answer is not an expansion of the welfare state as BBC and its fellow socialists want .
The irritating Andy Verity cropped up again this lunchtime to claim that the Government had ‘slashed’ welfare payments . Corbyn couldn’t have done better.
It’s called Socialism.
The way to alleviate ‘poverty’ is to bring down average wages !!!!!
And I suspect that Corbyn and Mcdonnell would be excellent at that, as their anti business high tax policies reduce the cash available in the productive part of the economy.
But, of course, they don’t want to alleviate it; they feed off it. That is why the threshold that defines poverty is regularly revised upwards. Slow broadband? Poverty!
Having enjoyed some more snippets from the Supreme Court, care of the 1 o’clock BBC newsish, how might one go about asking the judges in general and Lord Neuberger in particular a question, viz:
‘Would you agree, my Lord, that the Law in its present form is an extraordinarily expensive job creation scheme, with an exceptional degree of creative time-wasting as an integral part of its structure, function and maintenance? Please discuss among yourselves and publish your conclusions within one calendar year. Many thanks.’
And none of that hideously white public school, Oxbridge stale male stuff from the SJWs who comprise the chattering classes.
Flummery, warm milk and obsequies. We are now in crossed the portal and entered the world of tradition, democratic processes and sovereignty in the Mothers of Parliament.
Not heard any of that guff though since 1963, certainly not since 1973/5 when the EU took all that from us.
And I don`t remember any of these “judges” getting voted in by anybody, interviewed by anybody, but only being Blairs stuffed suits in an EU compliant creature of a “Supreme Court” we`ve been left.
No. Adults talking now. Daddy and his Friends have the plums and eggs in the mouth now, and we are not to go all Paul Mason or Russell Brand until they`ve done what the BBC hope they do.
Traitorous BBC making enemies of this country aware that between the scrapping of HMS Illustrious and the deployment of the HMS Queen Elizabeth replacement, there is a two year gap.
Anyone fancy having a go at Gibraltar or Falklands please now go ahead.
The carrier gap is well known. The culprit was that tosser Cameron, who scrapped the Harrier force in 2010. Illustrious was only kept on as a helicopter carrier, and that job is now done by HMS Ocean. We can only hope that the F35B aircraft will not be a disaster, and the two carriers will have a decent air group, some time around 2025.
The termination of the Sea Harrier fleet by Big Gord effectively rendered our carriers ineffective.
The RAF / RN GR9 Harriers had no anti-shipping capability, no air to air capability and could not be used in Libya because their limited range would require them to park the carrier too near the coast – so overall not a lot of use! They may have looked nice with GRs on board, but scared no-one with any aerial capacity themselves.
The demise of the Sea Harrier was indeed a national tragedy. The Harriers then spent most of the 2000s in Afghanistan, so were rarely able to form an airgroup for Illustrious or Ark Royal.
However, they would have been well able to have been used in Libya, the Americans used theirs successfully. The Harriers had been expensively upgraded for several years more service before they were discarded for pennies in the pound to the Americans.
The Royal Navy at the moment has a huge problem with regards to being able to sink enemy shipping. We have only 7 submarines, no aircraft, and the Harpoon missile will be taken out of service in 2018. Luckily we live in such a peaceful world that the Navy will not have to be used against enemy ships in the near future.
Listening to the Remoaner constant refrain that the views of the 48% should be taken into account. I ask them if the result of the referendum had been reversed would the views of those who voted Leave be taken into account? Of course thy wouldn’t , in fact a Remain win would have been taken as a signal for us to increase our integration with the EU. The Remoaners have had their say, in fact several says, their views have been heard and understood , the government should now get on and deliver a Brexit which gives us back full sovereignty and freedom from the ECJ. If those two things are delivered in full , without compromise , the government can make whatever other bargains it believes to be in the best interests of our country.
Has anybody heard anything BUT the 48% since 1979?
The elite have had sole rights to all channels into the houses of the lost, losing and poor since then.
Time for another voice or two.
And time to silence them, they`ve had their time. And wasted ours.
What the 48% appear to have forgotten is that not only were their views “taken into account” they have had 44 years (and counting) of having their own way, and still, the majority when asked, said…. NO, thanks.
In that 44 years we`ve gone from the “common market” to the “EEC” to the “EU” without ever being asked by the Lib-Lab-Con….only the rise of UKIP made it happen.
Should`ve asked after Maastricht or Lisbon. Should also remember that in a democracy, the majority gets to call the shots via the ballot box. The modern left seem to have forgotten that minorities have to form coalitions to win by outvoting the majority, and that being in a minority alone does not confer the right to power.
In around 1980 I worked in Whitehall. I can still remember bumping into my boss in the corridor and being told that in official papers I was to drop the letter ‘E’ in EEC as it was now just the Europen Community. I knew it had huge implications but did not fully understand what it really meant ie plans for full unification.
This morning the BBC-and only the BBC-could turn the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbour into a denunciation of Trump.
Took 167 seconds though to get to that truffle.
Funny though-Webb fears that the US will be less interventionist under Trump.
But when Obama scuttles out of anywhere where he`s left chaos, carnage and a few hotline numbers-then this is redressing the US hegemony and being a good world partner instead.
The BBC decides. But again, Pilger seems to think that Trump will bring us to closer to war with the Chinese. But Webb fears that if he gets out of Asia, then THAT will lead to war.
Oh if only Trump could listen to both pincers of the left, ask the BBC which one needs licking live on telly. While the other pincer gets the snipers rifle ready.
Thank the Lord, he`s his own man. Owes nobody but the people who entrusted him with their votes, and who did NOT buy the media “routes to power” that they said were NOT to be ignored.
How come the BBC are not following up on that awful story yesterday of the BHF and RSPCA trawling the house prices and antiques worth of their old donors to they can sneak in with a bequest before they die?
Quite the worst charity story I`ve heard sine poor Olive Cook.
But the BBC seem to think it`s not worth too much of a fuss.
Wonder why?…Comic Relief, Children In Need?…who`s to say?
But the BBC sure as hell won`t be telling, preferring us to worry over Le Tissiers naked massages.
But-a great excuse to see those goals again-the first player who`s WORTH fussing over re his ability and being filmed doing good stuff( as opposed to hoofing the orange balls through the snow at Crewe or Sandbach!).
BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg named Journalist of the Year … ?????????????
How about the judges! their reasons for selecting her:
‘In a tumultuous year she rose to the challenge and,
wait for it! wait for it!
… made the “story” of Brexit her own.
She presented a Conservative Party united under May in the piece: ‘with the lion’s share of Tory MPs supportive of her” … the Conservatives were deeply divided over Brexit, scrabbling around, panicking, disorganised, fretting over May’s wafer thin parliamentary majority. Thank goodness they got the “Red Tories” to take the heat off by launching their chicken coup.
Apologies if I have missed it previously, but have the BBC commented on Niall Ferguson’s damascene moment and transformation into a Brexiteer, having previosly “persecuted” them!
P.S. If you have not read his book “Empire” I think many on here would find it a refreshing view contrary to the BBC / Guardian view of its all whitey’s fault because of how 2we” treated our subjects.
Yep, great book…as was his “Civilisation”.
Married to Ayaan Hirsi Ali too, so he really ought to have known better.
Ah well-at least he`s finally learned something to show for all those years of advising the rest of us but being a pompous hypocrite from NYC.
His books will find their way out of the charity bags now.
More than a billion solar panels have been installed around the world but they may so far have failed to reduce overall emissions, a study has found.
Panel production is so energy intensive that the global solar industry could still be paying off its “carbon debt”.
Researchers looked at the full lifecycle of solar panels, including the emissions resulting from their production and the renewable electricity they produce.
They found that the panels installed since the mid-1970s were likely to be producing a net reduction in emissions by 2011 — but that in the worst-case scenario, they might not do so until 2018.
The solar industry has been “a temporary net emitter of greenhouse gas emissions”, the study by Utrecht University concluded. In Nature but needs interpretation.

Today this morning asked some “single mother” called Amelia Graham to blame the Tories for her tax credit woes as she did her 30 hours with a Scouse charity ,helping vulnerable people up there.
1. Is the fact that she`s a single mum in any way related to her poverty-and the chances that her kids will cost us in later years?
2. Is her job needed, or a Liverpool 8 job scheme to reward the public sector and keep the charity sector going a few more years?
It`s not as if I don`t have sympathy for her-the Tories are as useless and unthinking as were Labour in making work pay-but there`s always a lack of any effort by the BBC lefties to give us SOME narrative or context apart from their endless pity, condescension and LibLab puff ups.
‘…lack of any effort by the BBC lefties to give us SOME narrative or context apart from their endless pity…’
Toward all supposed victims of benefits cuts the BBC opperate a strict ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy.
Financial circumstances and household budgeting are never questioned. Moreover dependant children of single mothers are treated as having arrived by immaculate conception.
The BBC regards such leftist-biased broadcasting as ‘letting people tell their own stories’
I think she said her wages are £1600 per month, with additional state benefits on top. People can make up their own mind whether the £20000+ pa equates to ‘poverty’.
You will note the 9% of Guardian readers who voted Leave. If they gave a figure for BBC news and current affairs staff it would would probably have been 0%
I’m afraid I will have to disavow you of that latter view. I work at an upper end university and it seems quite popular there too, you may be surprised to hear.
I’ve failed to find mention of this news item anywhere on the BBC website. Also, AFAIAA, the final push of Castro’s ashes has not been disclosed to BBC viewers/listeners. Obviously, the BBC has created a safe space for mourners here and abroad.
Castros truck packs up?
Quelle surprise…but absolutely NO chance that the BBC would tell us this.
Any more that they laughed at the fake sign language piss artist at Mandelas funeral.
The Left will NOT laugh at the comedy Gold that Jo Cox, Bob Crow or Tony Benn give us-as with Lord Harris being buried in his crushed disability scooter smelling like an old sardine in his tin.
I jest…because the BBC don`t, preferring instead to trash and mock the only ex PM who gave her OWN money to build a hospital wing…as opposed to Deeds Of Variation scams that the likes of Miliband and Benn do.

I can’t stand it when Western politicians suck up to foreign religions be wearing their ethnic clothes (Justin Trudeau, I mean you, you silly vacuous ponce).
Unless one is a Muslim, Sikh or Hindu, why should one wear their clothing to visit one of their religious sites? If a Western person is not welcome unless he or she kowtows and wears their foreign clothing, then the person should just give it a miss. I know politicians would do almost anything for a vote, but just once I would like to see one refuse to perform this pathetic cultural cringe. We certainly never see it in return do we?

The bbC, blacks lives don’t matter and the death of a young rapper: Three teenagers guilty of killing rapper Mdot over a bicycle Three teenagers have been found guilty of the manslaughter of a young rapper who was stabbed to death in a fight over a stolen bicycle. Myron Yarde, 17, aka Mdot, was stabbed five times in the leg in New Cross, south-east London, on 3 April. Fauz Richards, 19, known as Mags or Maggie, and two youths aged 15 and 16, were found guilty following an Old Bailey trial. Judge Nicholas Cooke said “the evil” of knife crime had “to stop”. “Too many young men lose their lives in this way,” he said. The court heard Myron had leant his bike to 16-year-old Leoandro Osemeke, another promising rapper who was known as Showkey.
So 3 teenagers stabbed to death a young rapper in a fight over a stolen push bike. Here is a picture of the poor victim:
Now lets follow the story a little further as reported by the bBC: The court heard he had ridden the bike to buy pizza in the rival Monson neighbourhood where it was snatched. When Myron – who was said to have been armed with a machete – went to get it back, he was attacked in Camplin Street after being cornered.
IS the bBC sure that the victim was a rapper, as I would have presumed that anybody walking around New Cross late at night with a machete
(A machete is a broad blade used either as an implement like an axe, or in combat like a short sword. The blade is typically 32.5 to 45 centimetres long and usually under 3 millimetres thick.)
wasn’t known to help little old ladies cross the road.
Anybody have any ideas on what the bBC headline should have been? Meanwhile on the streets of London the black version of the fat slags (Sharontell and tracylicous) protest against police violence in America against black people.

“I think you’ve answered your own question”

BBC and SKY – sick of them both.

Good news for once.

I love Neil Nunnes’ voice and accent.

You see more Burka-clad women in London than in islamabad, while Bollywood hosts more marriages between Sikhs nd non Sikhs than Birmingham does…….

Yeah – that’s integration.

(Save for the BBC of course!)

Frankly, it stinks.

And, if we add the end of the Air Force jets that Obama and Clinton would have been saddling with attractive women and Wall St taxi riders?
Then normally the BBC Lefties would have trumpeted this as ” the man of the people, a la Castro”. Would they not?

Could someone please explain to me why some internet threats are taken seriously by the police while others are not?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38237517
Both Gina Miller and Anna Soubry have received death threats and are rightly investigated.
Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage and Sir Tim Hunt have received death threats and no investigation takes place.
At what point does a death threat become more important to investigate for one person over another?

Poverty!

Cannot wholly agree with you.

Solar panels less green than you think, say experts
Ben Webster, Environment Editor
December 7 2016, 12:01am, The Times

Now lets follow the story a little further as reported by the bBC:
The court heard he had ridden the bike to buy pizza in the rival Monson neighbourhood where it was snatched.

Alan Cartwright was killed for his bike in Caledonian Road, Islington, last year.
Now more or less forgotten.
Add his name to the already lengthy list of white lives that don’t matter.

Thank you for the link.
She is a real extremist she added likes to posts “exhorting support for the British armed forces and the wearing of the commemorative poppy. She also ‘liked’ a page called “British Patriotic Front”.”
What an extremist! God damned poppy wearers!
I guess she feels very lonely at the BBC at times.

She couldn’t be accused of bias in relation to her job of audience balance at Question Time. That’s for sure. (Until last week in Wakefield.)
