A B-BBC reader gives us a historical update by the BBC…
“I watched a program on BBC2 on the 14 march, “1066: A year to conquer England.” I was surprised to see that Robert de Beaumont (second in command to William the conquerer) was played by one Jotham Annan, who is a BLACK actor. Robert de Beaumont later became 1st Earl of Leicester, he was not black.’
Can’t say I am in the least surprised. The BBC is revising history to suit its own anti-White narrative.
This is common with the BBC. A year or so ago they produced a very good series of Shakespeare’s Historical plays. They were very well produced except that in each play, one of the characters had to be black. It spoilt the play, and I stopped watching. The BBC would never portray a black character as white, but will always try and portray a white character as black. It used to be called “inverse Racism”, but in the BBC, it is called “progressive thinking.”

I think it used to be the case that only series like Robin Hood got rewritten on the pretext that new “inclisive” national myths had to be created to further “community cohesion”. Channel 4 used to do programmes where various ethnics were shown round the stately homes of England and were taken back and hurt by the whiteness of the portraits on the walls. “Where are all the black faces?”. As Britain has always been a country of immigrants, the lack of vibrancy in the portraiture can only be due to racism. As of course in reality people of colour were a rarity, the BBC solution is to create them to provide a politically correct national narrative. The BBC now seems intent on creating “fake history” as well as “fake news”. Even using the word “history” is also suspect, surely it should be “herstory”. Beebblurbs have recently been extolling a new historical drama “Last Kingdom”- an excellent opportunity to play “spot the anachronistic ethnic”. Maybe a wise, female Saracen doctor will be able to use her advanced Islamic science to save a black king Alfred pierced by an arrow fired by Danes, dressed up to look like neonazi heavy-metal band members.

Isn’t this a case as of cultural appropriation . I thought that it was very un PC for people to dress up in the clothing of another ethnic group. I’m sure that I have heard this on the BBC no less so it must be correct. Oh hang on my missus says it only applies when white folks dress up. She cites Abbots Law as taking precedent , which states, ‘ People of Colour cannot be guilty of racist type behaviour under any and all circumstances, racism in any form is a crime unique to white people’.

It’s not just cultural appropriation, but LITERALLY FASCISM!!!
It’s the same when a Sub-Saharan uses a written language, medicine, any type of engineering etc. etc.

I don’t have a problem with black actors in Shakespeare, as long as they are good. They can play any part: Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Cordelia, even Desdemona (all those last three women being explicitly white, in the text), but the counterpart to that is that there may also be white actors playing Othello. Of course, we can have a black, Lithuanian, or Italian Ophelia; the Italians love Shakespeare.
What I believe is that, where theatrical productions, or recorded productions derived from the theatre, should be colour-neutral, the more “realistic” the production purports to be, the harder it is to justify non-white actors as Henry V, Hamlet, Juliet etc.. If you tried to make a film about Martin Luther King Jr and put up a white actor as the star (or how about a “transgendered”, formerly female actress?), how far would that get?

That grated on me. I thought the three programmes good in the historical information, but why oh why did they have to ruin them with the unwelcome & unnecessary introduction of political correctness? I felt taken for a fool.

You were taken for a fool. That is the BBc way now. Lie and distort our past to control our future.
Now who did that before ?

I suppose they have to keep pulling this kind of stunt to deflect attention from the “hideous whiteness” of BBC management.

Exactly, their quotas have nothing to do with helping minorities. It’s posturing.

I remember the Shakespeare History plays last year & found the black characters ridiculous, they also spoiled a good series of plays – high culture is sadly lacking on the BBC so why ruin the rare appearance with such nonsense.
Are we likely to see a white Othello?
.. I know, how about a biopic movie of Shaka Zulu played by a white actor?…..you know, it might just be allowed if Shaka was played by a white actress?…the world has gone mad!

“high culture …… ”
But that’s the problem as they see it. No black Shakespeare, Chaucer, Verdi, therefore no roles for black people.
Othello illustrates the one-sidedness of their position. Othello was not white, therefore no white actors, but he wasn’t sub-Saharan black either. They get into all sorts of verbal gymnastics to justify colour blind casting such as “the author doesn’t mention a specific race” (eg: James Bond) or “there’s no evidence that the Saxon king was white” etc.
A visual medium where appearance doesn’t matter is absurd, IMO.

If Shylock had been black the Beeb would play it for us every day; a double whammy !

The BBC have been rewriting history since at least the mid-1960s. For example representing traditional English Culture in the form of Alf Garnett in Till Death Us Do Part, during a period of time the UK Government and certain elites were hard selling multi-culturalism (= mass immigration of cheap labour from the former colonies).
From Wikipedia
“Till Death Us Do Part is a British television sitcom that aired on BBC1 from 1965 to 1975. First airing as a Comedy Playhouse pilot, the show aired in seven series until 1975. Six years later in 1981, ITV continued the sitcom for 6 episodes, calling it Till Death…. From 1985 to 1992, the BBC produced a sequel In Sickness and in Health.
Created by Johnny Speight, Till Death Us Do Part centred on the East End Garnett family, led by patriarch Alf Garnett (Warren Mitchell), a reactionary white working class man who holds racist and anti-socialist views. His long-suffering wife Else was played by Dandy Nichols, and his daughter Rita by Una Stubbs. Rita’s husband Mike Rawlins (Anthony Booth) is a socialist layabout. The character Alf Garnett became a well known character in British culture, and Mitchell played him on stage and television up until Speight’s death in 1998.”

What will they be portraying next?
A turbaned Jesus raping little girls and slitting peoples throats shouting Allahu Ahkbar.

On the Bayeux Tapestry, all the companions of William are depicted as white men. But if you look how the black man tagging along with William is dressed, he does not look like a fighting man. But then he was used as an envoy of William. I was told by an expert that according to sources, the envoy used by William of Normandy was a monk from Fecamp Abbey called Hugh Margot, who was used because he could speak English. He is actually depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry as a white man next to Harold. This was the only defining incident in the BBC documentary that identified the black actor as the envoy Hugh Margot.

I hope there wasn’t a gender bias in this programme? Are we sure William 1 was a chap ? Perhaps he could be played by a”girl”. ?

This all reminds me of one of the Louis Theroux weird weekends a few years ago. On this particular episode he concentrated on some black rights groups, the leader of one was totally barking. I remember being convulsed with laughter at the end when this particular “leader” claimed pretty much every major historical figure including Churchill was black because I think he claimed that somewhere in their genealogy was some black blood and of course this was far more powerful than any whiteness.
I dont think what the BBC is doing here is any different. Years ago the people who run the BBC would have been locked up in Bedlam and we could have paid money to come and laugh at them. Now these same individuals are given multi million pound budgets via the licence and are called artistic. Maybe now they are just getting their revenge on the rest of us – Funny old world!

Saw it!
That guys body guards looked more comforted by their 9M handguns rather than their Holy Bibles! Great programme though – and very funny!

I suppose casting someone of African or Asian origin could be just an actor in a role, but we know for certain that a European actor would never be cast out of his/her race.

I seem to remember a few weeks back I saw reference to a website that published complaints to the BBC, and their standardised rubbish responses. I have tried in vain to find it again- could someone point me to it?

It is all counterproductive. The reality is that at all and I mean all what might be called traditional English/Welsh/Scottish activities – County shows, most sports events, National Trust properties, the countryside pursuits like racing, game shows, preserved rail and traction engine shows and fairs etc etc close to 100% are indigenous and those that are not are often tourists .
The BBC and the progressives know this and they lie first to themselves and then to us.

Yes, but the bBBC and those progressives unfortunately deem, what you accurately describe, as problematic and demand huge sums of taxpayers money are spent encouraging the various ethnic minorities to participate more, as they are ‘currently underrepresented’

I remember about ten years ago the BBC did a dramatisation of that good old English legend ‘Robin Hood’. It had a black Friar Tuck & at one point a female Sheriff of Nottingham. No attempt at historical accuracy, just ramming diversity down our throats.

The 1066 thing is crazy. I saw a production of “The School for Scandal” recently in which Lady Sneerwell was played by a black actress. That was also just so wrong. To be fair, I don’t mind seeing a totally black cast playing in a classic play – it can sometimes be interesting – but an historically preposterous token black is an attempt to propagate some political lie. If David Irving can spend a year in prison for questioning the holocaust, shouldn’t 1066’s producer at least be thrashed across his bum for suggesting William the Conqueror’s best mate was black?

Its getting just as bad in many UK TV Adds!
There’s a new set of adds about the insurance company “Admiral Insurance”. The male admiral as been consigned to the skip in order to make way for a “Female” admiral! Just surprised she isn’t black!

A local building site recently had a banner along its fence featuring safety advice. The banner showed two regular builders with a middle aged black woman to the fore all bedecked in their hard hats.
A nearby school has less than a handful of ethnic pupils. On its website home page it has a row of children running across the playground. Right in the middle and in front of all the others is possibly their only black child. The drip, drip of propaganda is inescapable (lead by you know who).

The BBC are busily rewriting history so that younger folks watching their bias productions will know little different. The first black actor in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, 1991, I remember was Morgan Freeman, who is a very good actor, however he was incorrectly cast in this film.
Although history is vague in this area, it is written that a few Crusader Knights brought back some Saracen slaves. They would have been darker skinned than the average Saxon or Norman, but not black and when you consider that during the Napoleonic wars a live monkey was washed up on the beach at Hartlepool, the local magistrates hanged it because they were convinced it was a Frenchmen. So what would they have done to a colourer man in the 12th century, I ask you.
You cannot change history, but the liberal media, film industry and in particular the BBC will continue trying.

Yep Grant just found your comment – I noticed she did not look 100% about 3 days ago – may have been the Jackie Baird interview.
On another subject I happened on the BBC 2 prog on the Imperial War Museum 100 year anniversary this evening.
It was a very inclusive program with input from the likes of a celeb cook and a comedian (why does every program like this have to have celebs?) but as a seafarer most of my working life I was some what disappointed with no mention of the merchant navy sailors and the RN sailors sacrifices made, in most cases horrible and lonely deaths. The BBC could have done a lot more for such a fantastic museum. – 3/10 must try harder.

BBC keeping up the attack today, this time giving space to the actress Thandie Newton (it’s also an advert for BBC1’s series ‘Line of Duty’, which just happens to feature one… Thandie Newton). Poor Ms Newton has said she “can’t work” in the UK because there are no roles for black and minority ethnic actors in historical dramas. She also said “there are no roles for black actors in shows like Downton Abbey”. What, this Downton Abbey or another one:
http://downtonabbey.wikia.com/wiki/Jack_Ross
P.S. She’s actually a fine actress e.g. the TV version of ‘Westworld’.

Ian,
She could always try working in Russia, China or Japan and see what happens. Also Nigeria has a thriving film industry. Really these thick, Leftie, race-hustling luvvies are a joke.

I don’t blame the actors as I suspect it’s thei PR playing game to get attention.
What about white actors born in Hong Kong ?
Does the HK gov have a special duty to create work for them or something ?
Almost all drama in HK is geared to the Chinese market, with the few roles for while people often being typecasts as “the baddies”. (I did film extra there).
There is a strange cultural bias, we kinda expect all Chinese to e good at maths, Asi people mostly think that ALL white people are “lookers” …but it doesn’t work the other way we don’t think they are all “lookers”.
So modelling jobs are easier to find for white skinned people.
My Indian friend knows nothing about yoga ..but the Koreans just assumed he was a guru.
