I see the BBC is out to punish those who post views it does not like.
The BBC is threatening to report users to their bosses if they leave ‘offensive’ comments on one of the corporation’s websites, it has been revealed. Its privacy policy has sparked a furious backlash online with the broadcaster branded ‘Orwellian’ and accused of ‘blackmail’.
The draconian document warns that if the corporation deems a comment to be ‘offensive, inappropriate or objectionable’ then a user could have their ‘personal information’ used against them. The policy – which a spokesman said is ‘standard’ – also applies to those who ‘engage in any disruptive behaviour on any BBC service’ – although the definition of what constitutes such a sanction is not clearly defined. It further states that a ‘defamatory’ post could result in a user’s ’employer, school email/internet provider or law enforcement agency’ being informed directly.
What business is it of the BBC’s as to what is “offensive”? I consider the BBC offensive but I don’t seek to bully those who work for it with threats of legal action or reports to the Police. Thoughts?
Yet another reason the BBC has long outlived its usefulness and is operating way beyond its remit, I take it that the BBC thinks it is above the UK’s data protection laws. Keep going auntie one day we might get a government which sees no place for the BBC in the UK society and sticks the “For Sale” signs on the BBC, Though many of us now would prefer to see the “closing Down” signs on the BBC. I for one wont miss the BBC.

The BBC is on shaky legal ground here. They are threatening to use data ‘not for the purpose intended’ which goes against the principles of the Data Protection Act and then to engage it what might turn out to be libel.
No doubt they will resort to ‘the court of “public” opinion’, beloved of ‘social media activists’ – “Mega Corporation Employs Racists”, “Controversial Small Baker Refuses To Bake Cake” – sort of stuff, the ‘some people say’, ‘we are just the messenger’ one degree of separation bullying opinion that they use daily. The BBC is well used to bullying government, they are hardly likely to be concerned about bullying the individual, plebs all, because, as any listener to Feedback or News Watch will tell you, “We Got It About Right”.

The Beeb has decades of form in ‘sending the boys round’. I can’t imagine why they don’t just draw on that experience to put together their own little Sturm Abteilung to visit those recalcitrant complainers and posters of ‘offensive’ material and simply beat them up in the comfort of their own homes.

The Ministry of Truth has a public duty to inform on anyone expressing wrong thoughts.
A public service broadcaster would take a different view, but the BBC abandoned that role a long time ago.

Exactly – I often find BBC programmes deeply offensive, in which case I just change the channel. Others are free to enjoy them and I would not dream of trying to shut the programme down or punish anyone else who listened to it.
Free speech, and thereby the right to offend, is the bedrock of any free society; what is ‘offensive’ is subjective and open to abuse by tyrants.
It shows how the Left is losing the argument. They demonetise right wing channels on YouTube; they pass every more draconian ‘hate speech’ laws. Instead of tying to win the argument, they just run to the teacher to silence their opponents, like the petulant brats they are.

The bBBC, as usual, try to have people believe that such Totalitarian State type behaviour is an normal activity by people and organisations running sites on the web which involve the opportunity for people to make comments. That is blatantly untrue and is an outright lie.
Most sites will tell you that you will be blocked from the site for persistent abuse of their rules. Most sites will warn you that if what you post amounts to a criminal act your details may/will be reported to the appropriate authorities. Most sites warn that libel, defamation of character and similar behaviour will not be tolerated. And yes, there are many other activities which might lead to you being blocked from using a particular site.
The one thing which is definitely not normal behaviour on such sites and which the bBBC is threatening is to threaten to pass the details they hold about you to all kinds of third parties with the expressed intention of having them act on the bBBC’s behalf to enforce sanctions on you which is intended to cause problems for an individual in their private lives.
The bBBC’s obvious intention is to instil fear in people that anything they post on a bBBC website which the bBBC considers not to comply with their propaganda output or their PC Doctrine will be reported by the Stalinist Big Brother Commissariat to people and organisations they consider might cause you pain and suffering on their behalf.
I know of no site on the internet in Britain, or any other Western country which does what the bBBC is threatening that they will do their best to put your employment in jeopardy or, and even more disgracefully, to try to terrorise children into submission to the bBBC’s whims by threatening them with getting them into trouble with their place of education.
The bBBC’s whole behaviour in this matter only goes to prove how, in it’s arrogance and intolerance, dictatorial and beyond control it has become and that it is entitled to behave exactly as it wants without fear of being censured or halted for it’s activities. It has become to large and powerful not only for it’s own good but also for the good of the public in general. It is time the whole outdated dinosaur was dumped in the dustbin of history.
