The Biggest Story Never Told….The Death of a Civilisation

As Swedish girls are forced to conduct themselves as if in a Muslim country by segregating themselves away from men,‘certain men’ as the sexual attackers are coyly called, such matters rarely, if ever, concern the BBC and many others in the media who wish to sweep such things under the carpet…as Mark Steyn points out…

Timely then that Trump is reminding us that we must defend our civilisation and our borders…

“The West will never, ever be broken. Our values will prevail, our people will thrive, and our civilization will triumph.”

We have to remember that our defense is not just a commitment of money, it is a commitment of will. Because as the Polish experience reminds us, the defense of the West ultimately rests not only on means, but also on the will of its people to prevail and be successful and get what you have to have.

The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive. Do we have the confidence in our values to defend them at any cost? Do we have enough respect for our citizens to protect our borders? Do we have the desire and the courage to preserve our civilization in the face of those who would subvert and destroy it?

We can have the largest economies and the most lethal weapons anywhere on Earth, but if we do not have strong families and strong values, then we will be weak and we will not survive.

Unless those relatively few that recognise the depth of the problem are accepted as sincere by the governments and establishments of Europe and not treated as ‘fascists’ and pariahs then, despite all the noble rhetoric, the West will be broken. Having bold sentiments will not be enough.
Enoch Powell was above all else an historian. His reference to the Tiber was not coincidental, it was based on an in-depth knowledge of the collapse of the Roman Empire and how that once invincible power was corrupted and destroyed from within and without. History does repeat itself and the ignorance of our current ‘leaders’ will, literally, be the death of us.

Yes I’ve seen that nafta type arrangement floated before with a desire for Blighty to be towed a 1000 miles into the North Atlantic to link up with our Common Law cousins and away from European countries who are familiar with being invaded because of their weakness.
I share your fear about Trump. The left conspiracy against him either physically or politically isn’t going away is it?

      Manx,
Unfortunately for us US presidential terms are only 4yrs long. The Donald will have to run again in 2020.
They can’t choose when to call the election like our government does. They have to stick to the set election time frame. November every four years.

I can’t imagine why Trump would want to run again after the way he’s been treated.

If he delivers on half his campaign promises and keeps Americans in jobs I think he might go for it again and then really get on with draining the swamp- except if he loses the two houses or gets disowned by the GOP.

They already talk as if it is a forgone conclusion, in their spite they reveal their thoughts, they all talk about 8yrs of ruinous policy,

I sense they fully expect an 8 year term, because they know his satisfaction rating is much higher than the contrived polls suggest, and the economy can only get better, Obarmy left him an open goal with a bloated federal government to slice and dice literally a trillion dollars a year to be saved there, he should just axe whole departments, instead of buying out staff contracts, amalgamate them and rebuild them in a business structure, or lets the states take care of their own business..

He wont quit Lucy, he went into this to protect his family and their families, he foresore them being gradually asset stripped by the Marxists if they were not beaten, he is quite deep, nothing superficial about him, i read loads of his old statements and opinions before the election, its why they mock him for spelling etc, but watch his eyes when he talks.

Politics is about timing, he will do all he promised i reckon, bit by bit, as the occasions arise.

I listened as should all of us to this superb speech by President Trump. It reminded me in places of the words of Thomas Jefferson and that is surely something.
Let us be clear. To the progressives of the BBC and the liberal media most of it would have been incomprehensible. ideas and concepts that they in their arrogance and contempt for us and our values just could not begin to grasp. Yet to most of us especially in Eastern Europe and those men and women of England not yet corrupted by the decadence of liberalism the ideas are simple. Family, country and faithfulness to those in the past and those to come.
Sneer all they want and there they were on Newsnight sneering away but we have their measure and it is our time coming.
It is right the the President spoke first in the East and in Poland.
The rebuke to Germany and Scandinavia was clear. Their way is the way of death to the European spirit.
As for us I hope President Trump does not abandon us but if he does then we must understand why.

Trump is getting things done; illegal immigration has slowed to a trickle across the southern border, there’s a new sheriff in town and they know it. I expect him to now properly address illegal immigration, he wasted time allowing the GOP in Congress the opportunity to get rid of Obamacare but McConnell and Ryan f****d it up and they will do so again; then Trump will deal with the main issue which got him elected and start getting the budget funding in place to begin building the wall.

Trump’s biggest problem isn’t the Dem’s, it’s the Republicans in Congress such as Ryan, McCain and Graham and all the other cucks who will try and derail what he was elected to do.

His SCOTUS pick has been very good though and hopefully he’ll get to make a couple more.

Thanks ncbbc, I was taken in too. Living in the USA and I haven’t heard anything about this incident since the day it happened. Coulters article is fab, and I sometimes wonder how I’d feel if it wasn’t for people like her, Douglas Murray, mark steyn, sir Nigel and Katie Hopkins, and of course Fox News. I googled the incident, and it was still difficult to come up with any of the historic information, so clearly much of the media is complicit in this misrepresentation of ‘news’.
Who checks the validity ot the qualifications of these immigrants? Anyone can call themselves dr. Who looks at standardisation of courses/qualifications from around the world, and whether they can be ‘bought’. Of course they won’t be looked at, because that interferes with the multiculti agenda.

Britain is now under a threat, the likes of which it has never been under. If Napoleon or even Hitler had conquered Britain, most British/Western culture – music, literature, art etc would be unscathed. Islam on the other hand will wipe out everything.

In the fullness of time, the very presence of Christianity- cathedrals, minsters, abbeys, will be demolished and razed to the ground (re: Bhumiyan Buddhas). The threat to the existence, nay, the very soul of Britain is so clear and present that most politicians have no clue what to do or say. It takes a Trump to state the obvious.

Spoke too subtly, perhaps, for the Liberal and Left-ish listeners? Maybe not. Perhaps ‘softly, softly’ is just right for now.

  11. NCBBC says:

Merkel, May and other EU leaders are going to try and convince Trump to go along with AGW nonsense.

Why, when it is obvious that there is no AGW.

My conjecture is Africa. Africa was going nowhere. Its population was expanding rapidly. With no economy, and huge expectations, civil strife was predictable. There would be immense pressure for Africans to turn up in the West, Europe in particular. With no education and skills, and huge expectations, the ability of Europe to assimilate and support hundreds millions of unskilled people, was not going to be easy. In fact, impossible. And this would lead to civil strife, even the collapse of the EU

A long term solution had to be found to allow the transfer of large amounts of Western aid, without opposition from Western people. Western voters were already opposed to aid, when there was shortages at home. (Ever wondered why a Tory government ring-fenced foreign aid at such a high level). European leaders knew that if tens of millions of hungry Africans turned up, it would be physically and politically impossible to stop.

They were right. The EU is looking very shaky. Without America, the EU cannot sustain large transfers of money on its own. Harsh measures are on the way.

  12. Doublethinker says:

There is no doubt that the West is in mortal danger from Islam. If nothing changes then Islam will be victorious within a couple of generations or less. But the first step is to convince a sufficient number of the public that , like it or not, the West is locked in a struggle for existence and that the values of the West are worth preserving let alone fighting for.
But the undermining of the West by the liberal left for the past four decades has resulted in people who believe that their country , their civilisation , is thoroughly rotten and does not deserve their support. Additionally they have been brainwashed into believing that Islam is truly a religion of peace. Couple these two bogus ideas together and you have a demoralised people who believe it their duty as human beings to welcome these unfortunate peace loving Muslims into their midst in some sort of atonement for the vile sins of their ancestors.
Almost the entire political class and MSM are perpetrators of this myth that the West was rotten. They attack and seek to marginalise anyone who trie to raise the alarm about Islamification. They collude in the cover up of Muslim crimes, they make concession after concession to Islam and most stupidly of all they continue facilitate mass migration into Europe. Until these people are replaced by a MSM that is honest and so wakes Europeans from their sleep , which is rapidly becoming a nightmare, and by leaders who recognise the threat and are prepared to face up to it, the west will continue down the road to an Islamic future.

For some reason I image him as a French aristocrat about to be guiloteened and looking up and moaning that no body had cleaned the blade.

They skirted around the enemy for a while and then went after an easy target – Saudi – but not for specific reasons but left them comfortably unsaid.

Here is a transcript of US President Donald Trump’s address in Poland ahead of the G20 summit, provided by the White House.

We’ve come to your nation to deliver a very important message: America loves Poland, and America loves the Polish people. Thank you.

The Poles have not only greatly enriched this region, but Polish-Americans have also greatly enriched the United States, and I was truly proud to have their support in the 2016 election.

It is a profound honour to stand in this city, by this monument to the Warsaw Uprising, and to address the Polish nation that so many generations have dreamt of: a Poland that is safe, strong, and free.

President Duda and your wonderful first lady, Agata, have welcomed us with the tremendous warmth and kindness for which Poland is known around the world. Thank you. My sincere — and I mean sincerely, thank both of them. And to Prime Minister Szydlo, a very special thanks also.

We are also pleased that former President Lech Walesa, so famous for leading the Solidarity movement, has joined us today, also. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

On behalf of all Americans, let me also thank the entire Polish people for the generosity you have shown in welcoming our soldiers to your country. These soldiers are not only brave defenders of freedom, but also symbols of America’s commitment to your security and your place in a strong and democratic Europe.

We are proudly joined on stage by American, Polish, British, and Romanian soldiers. Thank you. Thank you. Great job.

President Duda and I have just come from an incredibly successful meeting with the leaders participating in the Three Seas Initiative. To the citizens of this great region, America is eager to expand our partnership with you. We welcome stronger ties of trade and commerce as you grow your economies. And we are committed to securing your access to alternate sources of energy, so Poland and its neighbours are never again held hostage to a single supplier of energy.

Mr. President, I congratulate you, along with the president of Croatia, on your leadership of this historic Three Seas Initiative. Thank you.

This is my first visit to Central Europe as president, and I am thrilled that it could be right here at this magnificent, beautiful piece of land. It is beautiful. Poland is the geographic heart of Europe, but more importantly, in the Polish people, we see the soul of Europe. Your nation is great because your spirit is great and your spirit is strong.

For two centuries, Poland suffered constant and brutal attacks. But while Poland could be invaded and occupied, and its borders even erased from the map, it could never be erased from history or from your hearts. In those dark days, you have lost your land but you never lost your pride.

So it is with true admiration that I can say today, that from the farms and villages of your countryside to the cathedrals and squares of your great cities, Poland lives, Poland prospers, and Poland prevails.

Despite every effort to transform you, oppress you, or destroy you, you endured and overcame. You are the proud nation of Copernicus -think of that — Chopin, Saint John Paul II. Poland is a land of great heroes. And you are a people who know the true value of what you defend.

The triumph of the Polish spirit over centuries of hardship gives us all hope for a future in which good conquers evil, and peace achieves victory over war.

For Americans, Poland has been a symbol of hope since the beginning of our nation. Polish heroes and American patriots fought side-by-side in our War of Independence and in many wars that followed. Our soldiers still serve together today in Afghanistan and Iraq, combating the enemies of all civilisation.

For America’s part, we have never given up on freedom and independence as the right and destiny of the Polish people, and we never, ever will.

Our two countries share a special bond forged by unique histories and national characters. It’s a fellowship that exists only among people who have fought and bled and died for freedom.

The signs of this friendship stand in our nation’s capital. Just steps from the White House, we’ve raised statues of men with names like Pulaski and Kosciuszko. The same is true in Warsaw, where street signs carry the name of George Washington, and a monument stands to one of the world’s greatest heroes, Ronald Reagan.

And so I am here today not just to visit an old ally, but to hold it up as an example for others who seek freedom and who wish to summon the courage and the will to defend our civilisation. The story of Poland is the story of a people who have never lost hope, who have never been broken, and who have never, ever forgotten who they are.

Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you so much. Such a great honour. This is a nation more than one thousand years old. Your borders were erased for more than a century and only restored just one century ago.

In 1920, in the Miracle of Vistula, Poland stopped the Soviet army bent on European conquest. Then, 19 years later in 1939, you were invaded yet again, this time by Nazi Germany from the west and the Soviet Union from the east. That’s trouble. That’s tough.

Under a double occupation the Polish people endured evils beyond description: the Katyn forest massacre, the occupations, the Holocaust, the Warsaw Ghetto and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the destruction of this beautiful capital city, and the deaths of nearly one in five Polish people. A vibrant Jewish population — the largest in Europe — was reduced to almost nothing after the Nazis systematically murdered millions of Poland’s Jewish citizens, along with countless others, during that brutal occupation.

In the summer of 1944, the Nazi and Soviet armies were preparing for a terrible and bloody battle right here in Warsaw. Amid that hell on earth, the citizens of Poland rose up to defend their homeland. I am deeply honoured to be joined on stage today by veterans and heroes of the Warsaw Uprising.

What great spirit. We salute your noble sacrifice and we pledge to always remember your fight for Poland and for freedom. Thank you. Thank you.

This monument reminds us that more than 150,000 Poles died during that desperate struggle to overthrow oppression.

From the other side of the river, the Soviet armed forces stopped and waited. They watched as the Nazis ruthlessly destroyed the city, viciously murdering men, women, and children. They tried to destroy this nation forever by shattering its will to survive.

But there is a courage and a strength deep in the Polish character that no one could destroy. The Polish martyr, Bishop Michael Kozal, said it well: “More horrifying than a defeat of arms is a collapse of the human spirit.”

Through four decades of communist rule, Poland and the other captive nations of Europe endured a brutal campaign to demolish freedom, your faith, your laws, your history, your identity — indeed the very essence of your culture and your humanity. Yet, through it all, you never lost that spirit. Your oppressors tried to break you, but Poland could not be broken.

And when the day came on June 2, 1979, and one million Poles gathered around Victory Square for their very first mass with their Polish Pope, that day, every communist in Warsaw must have known that their oppressive system would soon come crashing down. They must have known it at the exact moment during Pope John Paul II’s sermon when a million Polish men, women, and children suddenly raised their voices in a single prayer. A million Polish people did not ask for wealth. They did not ask for privilege. Instead, one million Poles sang three simple words: “We want God.”

In those words, the Polish people recalled the promise of a better future. They found new courage to face down their oppressors, and they found the words to declare that Poland would be Poland once again.

As I stand here today before this incredible crowd, this faithful nation, we can still hear those voices that echo through history. Their message is as true today as ever. The people of Poland, the people of America, and the people of Europe still cry out, “We want God.”

Together, with Pope John Paul II, the Poles reasserted their identity as a nation devoted to God. And with that powerful declaration of who you are, you came to understand what to do and how to live. You stood in solidarity against oppression, against a lawless secret police, against a cruel and wicked system that impoverished your cities and your souls. And you won. Poland prevailed. Poland will always prevail.

Thank you. You were supported in that victory over communism by a strong alliance of free nations in the West that defied tyranny. Now, among the most committed members of the NATO Alliance, Poland has resumed its place as a leading nation of a Europe that is strong, whole, and free.

A strong Poland is a blessing to the nations of Europe, and they know that. A strong Europe is a blessing to the West and to the world. One hundred years after the entry of American forces into World War I, the transatlantic bond between the United States and Europe is as strong as ever and maybe, in many ways, even stronger.

This continent no longer confronts the spectre of communism. But today we’re in the West, and we have to say there are dire threats to our security and to our way of life. You see what’s happening out there. They are threats. We will confront them. We will win. But they are threats.

We are confronted by another oppressive ideology — one that seeks to export terrorism and extremism all around the globe. America and Europe have suffered one terror attack after another. We’re going to get it to stop.

During a historic gathering in Saudi Arabia, I called on the leaders of more than 50 Muslim nations to join together to drive out this menace which threatens all of humanity. We must stand united against these shared enemies to strip them of their territory and their funding, and their networks, and any form of ideological support that they may have. While we will always welcome new citizens who share our values and love our people, our borders will always be closed to terrorism and extremism of any kind.

We are fighting hard against radical Islamic terrorism, and we will prevail. We cannot accept those who reject our values and who use hatred to justify violence against the innocent.

Today, the West is also confronted by the powers that seek to test our will, undermine our confidence, and challenge our interests. To meet new forms of aggression, including propaganda, financial crimes, and cyberwarfare, we must adapt our alliance to compete effectively in new ways and on all new battlefields.

We urge Russia to cease its destabilising activities in Ukraine and elsewhere, and its support for hostile regimes — including Syria and Iran — and to instead join the community of responsible nations in our fight against common enemies and in defence of civilisation itself.

Finally, on both sides of the Atlantic, our citizens are confronted by yet another danger — one firmly within our control. This danger is invisible to some but familiar to the Poles: the steady creep of government bureaucracy that drains the vitality and wealth of the people. The West became great not because of paperwork and regulations but because people were allowed to chase their dreams and pursue their destinies.

Americans, Poles, and the nations of Europe value individual freedom and sovereignty. We must work together to confront forces, whether they come from inside or out, from the South or the East, that threaten over time to undermine these values and to erase the bonds of culture, faith and tradition that make us who we are. If left unchecked, these forces will undermine our courage, sap our spirit, and weaken our will to defend ourselves and our societies.

But just as our adversaries and enemies of the past learned here in Poland, we know that these forces, too, are doomed to fail if we want them to fail. And we do, indeed, want them to fail. They are doomed not only because our alliance is strong, our countries are resilient, and our power is unmatched. Through all of that, you have to say everything is true. Our adversaries, however, are doomed because we will never forget who we are. And if we don’t forget who are, we just can’t be beaten. Americans will never forget. The nations of Europe will never forget. We are the fastest and the greatest community. There is nothing like our community of nations. The world has never known anything like our community of nations.

We write symphonies. We pursue innovation. We celebrate our ancient heroes, embrace our timeless traditions and customs, and always seek to explore and discover brand-new frontiers.

We reward brilliance. We strive for excellence, and cherish inspiring works of art that honour God. We treasure the rule of law and protect the right to free speech and free expression.

We empower women as pillars of our society and of our success. We put faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, at the centre of our lives. And we debate everything. We challenge everything. We seek to know everything so that we can better know ourselves.

And above all, we value the dignity of every human life, protect the rights of every person, and share the hope of every soul to live in freedom. That is who we are. Those are the priceless ties that bind us together as nations, as allies, and as a civilisation.

What we have, what we inherited from our — and you know this better than anybody, and you see it today with this incredible group of people — what we’ve inherited from our ancestors has never existed to this extent before. And if we fail to preserve it, it will never, ever exist again. So we cannot fail.

This great community of nations has something else in common: In every one of them, it is the people, not the powerful, who have always formed the foundation of freedom and the cornerstone of our defence. The people have been that foundation here in Poland — as they were right here in Warsaw — and they were the foundation from the very, very beginning in America.

Our citizens did not win freedom together, did not survive horrors together, did not face down evil together, only to lose our freedom to a lack of pride and confidence in our values. We did not and we will not. We will never back down.

As long as we know our history, we will know how to build our future. Americans know that a strong alliance of free, sovereign and independent nations is the best defence for our freedoms and for our interests. That is why my administration has demanded that all members of NATO finally meet their full and fair financial obligation.

As a result of this insistence, billions of dollars more have begun to pour into NATO. In fact, people are shocked. But billions and billions of dollars more are coming in from countries that, in my opinion, would not have been paying so quickly.

To those who would criticise our tough stance, I would point out that the United States has demonstrated not merely with words but with its actions that we stand firmly behind Article 5, the mutual defence commitment.

Words are easy, but actions are what matters. And for its own protection — and you know this, everybody knows this, everybody has to know this — Europe must do more. Europe must demonstrate that it believes in its future by investing its money to secure that future.

That is why we applaud Poland for its decision to move forward this week on acquiring from the United States the battle-tested Patriot air and missile defence system — the best anywhere in the world. That is also why we salute the Polish people for being one of the NATO countries that has actually achieved the benchmark for investment in our common defence. Thank you. Thank you, Poland. I must tell you, the example you set is truly magnificent, and we applaud Poland. Thank you.

We have to remember that our defence is not just a commitment of money, it is a commitment of will. Because as the Polish experience reminds us, the defence of the West ultimately rests not only on means but also on the will of its people to prevail and be successful and get what you have to have. The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive. Do we have the confidence in our values to defend them at any cost? Do we have enough respect for our citizens to protect our borders? Do we have the desire and the courage to preserve our civilisation in the face of those who would subvert and destroy it?

We can have the largest economies and the most lethal weapons anywhere on Earth, but if we do not have strong families and strong values, then we will be weak and we will not survive. If anyone forgets the critical importance of these things, let them come to one country that never has. Let them come to Poland. And let them come here, to Warsaw, and learn the story of the Warsaw Uprising.

When they do, they should learn about Jerusalem Avenue. In August of 1944, Jerusalem Avenue was one of the main roads running east and west through this city, just as it is today.

Control of that road was crucially important to both sides in the battle for Warsaw. The German military wanted it as their most direct route to move troops and to form a very strong front. And for the Polish Home Army, the ability to pass north and south across that street was critical to keep the centre of the city, and the uprising itself, from being split apart and destroyed.

Every night, the Poles put up sandbags amid machine gun fire — and it was horrendous fire — to protect a narrow passage across Jerusalem Avenue. Every day, the enemy forces knocked them down again and again and again. Then the Poles dug a trench. Finally, they built a barricade. And the brave Polish fighters began to flow across Jerusalem Avenue. That narrow passageway, just a few feet wide, was the fragile link that kept the Uprising alive.

Between its walls, a constant stream of citizens and freedom fighters made their perilous, just perilous, sprints. They ran across that street, they ran through that street, they ran under that street — all to defend this city. “The far side was several yards away,” recalled one young Polish woman named Greta. That mortality and that life was so important to her. In fact, she said, “The mortally dangerous sector of the street was soaked in the blood. It was the blood of messengers, liaison girls, and couriers.”

Nazi snipers shot at anybody who crossed. Anybody who crossed, they were being shot at. Their soldiers burned every building on the street, and they used the Poles as human shields for their tanks in their effort to capture Jerusalem Avenue. The enemy never ceased its relentless assault on that small outpost of civilisation. And the Poles never ceased its defence.

The Jerusalem Avenue passage required constant protection, repair, and reinforcement, but the will of its defenders did not waver, even in the face of death. And to the last days of the uprising, the fragile crossing never, ever failed. It was never, ever forgotten. It was kept open by the Polish people.

The memories of those who perished in the Warsaw Uprising cry out across the decades, and few are clearer than the memories of those who died to build and defend the Jerusalem Avenue crossing. Those heroes remind us that the West was saved with the blood of patriots; that each generation must rise up and play their part in its defence — and that every foot of ground, and every last inch of civilisation, is worth defending with your life.

Our own fight for the West does not begin on the battlefield — it begins with our minds, our wills, and our souls. Today, the ties that unite our civilisation are no less vital, and demand no less defence, than that bare shred of land on which the hope of Poland once totally rested. Our freedom, our civilisation, and our survival depend on these bonds of history, culture, and memory.

And today as ever, Poland is in our heart, and its people are in that fight. Just as Poland could not be broken, I declare today for the world to hear that the West will never, ever be broken. Our values will prevail. Our people will thrive. And our civilisation will triumph.

Thank you. So, together, let us all fight like the Poles — for family, for freedom, for country, and for God.

Thank you. God Bless You. God bless the Polish people. God bless our allies. And God bless the United States of America.

Thank you. God bless you. Thank you very much.

        Monsieur Martel,
There is only one way to post a whole speech. And that’s to post the whole speech.
It’s simple & honest reporting. No edits, thank you, I haven’e seen that in a long time.

        What’s the BBC website for?

Yes thank you, i listened to it, but reading it really brings forth his message, god and country, national pride, and strong cultural identity, raising the hairs all over my body.

I know i gob of alot about ”My” island, but truthfully we still have that pride and cohesion, it is part of the reason i find it so difficult to reconcile todays uk with the uk of 20/30/40 years ago, i mean truly what happened to you ?.

That massive show of open air muslim intimidation last week where a million or more males blocked streets and squares parks etc around the UK, was literally horrifying to witness for me, a celebration of eid my ass, it was a million man army saying what ya gonna do whitey,.

I could only find this on the BBC website in relation to eid 2017 –
          http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-40396344
Seems rather strange that the BBC did not ram numerous shots of the hundreds-of-thousands of mozzies celebrating eid on the 25th in the UK. I wonder why. Could it be that they realise that shows of numerical strength will scare the natives and that things are pretty tense right now?

We will see which people on both sides of the political divide truly think about western values, culture, liberty and democracy based on their response to this speech. There is no rational basis for disagreeing with anything Trump said here, outside perhaps of the religious rhetoric which as long as it’s used for good is fine. Trump’s biggest haters in the MSM and social media either had to begrudgingly accept that the speech was good, or scramble for desperate excuses to criticise it, but in reality if you have a problem with the message then you are an enemy to decency.

“We will see which people on both sides of the political divide truly think about western values, culture, liberty and democracy based on their response to this speech……..There is no rational basis for disagreeing with anything Trump said here”

But surely it’s not about what they believe he said, it’s about what they want others to believe he said.

Most people will not read the speech or listen to it carefully, or more than once. They will be fed a brief, dismissive summary based on a distorted version of the speech, reading into it things which are not supported by the text.

That will it, mission accomplished. Powell, Farage, Thatcher – comments twisted and massaged into things they never actually said. The truth is neither here nor there.

I get the feeling from Mr Trump’s speech that he clearly supports the Visegrad Treaty states. I hope this means they will have the courage to tell the EU to get stuffed when it tries to bully them over refugee quotas.

Thank you Alan for posting Trumps speech-and thanks to Charlie above so you can read along.
36 minutes of brilliance, world history and civilisational battlegrounds laid out, clear as a bell.
Poland truly knows the nature of the battles ahead, given where it is and what has happened to it. No wonder the EU want them to take Muslim migrants and bring back their version of the BBC . The very people festering like maggots all over the liberal press and media that seek to “destroy and subvert” the West.
Would recomment Norman Stone for the whole sweep of Poland its history, would suggest Timothy Snyders “The Bloodlands” to see how the Soviets and Nazis removed the nation itself, and the barbarity of the war that Poland faced…and, now I can add this speech by Mr President Trump by way of just about the best primer of Polands unique role in New Europe.
Truly wonderful stuff-how the hell can CNN put this out and NOT understand what and why Trump is here?
Of course the BBC will pick THEIR soundbites like rancid cherries. But Trumps whole speech is magnificent, said to the TRUE heroes of Europe like Walesa and those who fought for Poland in the 44 Uprising-and small wonder that the fake news crews in Hamburg can only wonder about petty bear fights and empty circus rituals with Occupy and fellow scum.
People like Trump and Palin may NOT be the smartest smootie chops types-but Jesus said plenty about who was TRULY wise, and who were the fools.
I detect the fine hand of Sebastian Gorka in this speech, and like to think that Steve Bannon splashed some holy water onto it alsol… thanks again for posting lads, FAR better than any amount of Shamburgers seeking piercings and wifi for Eddie Mair later.
When are WE going to get our streets back like the Poles?
Are we ALWAYS going to clear them for Len McClusky and John McDonnell?
    NO!!!
Off to Tolpuddle next weekend, should be fun.
    PS-All Lives Matter and Beltane.
Would argue that Powell was “above all” a prophet, more than a historian.
    Mary Whitehouse was as well.
The Catholic roots of the speech will be Bannons I`m sure, being a good Catholic lad…and 100% correct in that JP2 was -along with Ronnie and Maggie-PIVOTAL in seeing out the Coomunists.
Was round Poland myself a few years back-wonderful place, sadly not Warsaw though,
but was delighted to see Thatcher , Reagans and John Pauls names all OVER the place in roads, roundabouts and the like.
Compare and contrast the wankers WE name our crap estates after…Ellen Wilkinson, Nelson Mandela and Trevor Huddleston…and all the other liberal lefty nomarks.

He is long gone now but I once knew a British officer who was attached to the Polish division at Monte Cassino. The night before the final assault he said his fellow Polish officers knew that casualties would be horrendous but every man was prepared to do what he could to restore the honour of his country.
We know what then occurred and that the Polish flag was placed on the summit. I hope the people have not changed.

I think Blighty will suffer a lot of hardship before we finally get the EU off our back and then hopefully move our country to the proper Right with a proper Tory party. Privatise al Beeb .

The EU will attempt to split the Tory party by pushing for a Hard Brexit ( hopefully ) or a Brexit so soft we won’t notice the change – apart from increased payments for their single market access. Revolution to follow

The BBC and the elite clearly play their strong suit of “economic stability”. They`ve done this before, they`ll do it again.

All I care about is sovereignty-the right to have our own laws, kick out other nations criminals and subverters and be able to boot out my useless councillors and MPS as needed.
Why the hell would I listen to the CBI,BBC and all the ther moaning minnies? These people create no wealth, unlike Tim Martin?
Just read Yanis Varoufakis book, reading Mervyn King now. We`ve nothing to fear financially-but we`ve a lot to fear from Merkels rape squads and Hollandes human chop shoppers.
Only we can put Islam back in its box for this country-and we`ll surely get a new political class that do NOT cringe before Brussels and can finally make their own laws for this country…and then get a decent set of politicians and leaders. As opposed to Nick Clegg-Heseltines and their tiddle rag BBC, that will be dead and buried by then.

Fascinating to compare the warts’n’all sincerity of President Trump who patently speaks from the heart, with the lengthy staged pauses and hubris of Obama. Who will history see as the greater President? No contest.

I admire optimists but remember that you can never disappoint a pessimist. To fail to carry through a full so called hard – Brexit will be a disaster on all fronts for Blighty. We cannot have free movement of goods or people and that’s that. Pay the EU the minimum required by law and leave them to the hordes arriving in Italy curtesy of well intentioned fools who should pick up the illegals and take them back from whence they came. It would be bad tele for al Beeb and channel 4 news .

I like Mark Steyn and remember watching the whole Munk Debate video when it first came out. But, I must take exception to one thing – he says he “was up against.” He was no such thing – Madam Arbor struggled to keep her head above water for the whole time and it is worth watching the whole thing again just to remind yourself (if it is needed) what an absolute prick Schama is. Steyn and Farage just told the truth and gave facts while Arbor and Schama got destroyed and reminded us all why we should be scared of their Utopian vision of the future.

obc, I also watched that extraordinary Munk debate on the refugee crisis but I disagree with your conclusion.

Here’s the brilliant summing up by Farage, at 1:16:30 in:

The pro-immigrant resolution (GIve us your tired, etc, etc, yearning to breathe free) was originally supported by 77% of the predominantly liberal-left audience and opposed by 23%. By the time the debate was over, 22% had swung towards Steyn and Farage, giving a 55% – 45% result. That was a remarkable change and a testimony to their debating power. According to the rules, it also means that they won the debate.

Still, in spite of all the evidence presented, and the shaming of Arbor and Schama over their trivialising of mass rape by immigrants, the majority of the audience remained in favour of mass immigration.

I also noted Farage’s powerful defence of Christians as they face slaughter in the Middle East and his observation that his opponents showed no interest in a debate on the issue. Arbor then brushed that aside by decaring that she had seen no evidence of Syrian Christians (or Druze or allawites, she felt compelled to add) being blocked from leaving Syria.

      There are none so blind….

Just feel that the European Union is going to collapse under its own ludicrous contradictions. Seventeen countries in the Euro, Italys banks in crisis and nobody willing or able to help them with their migration problems( and we hear little about all this).
A European Army being attempted, Turkey taking the EU for fools. And these are only things that we get to hear of. Heaven knows what else is happening.
The BBC sure as heck won`t be telling us.
Only wish we`d begin to know that its war with the BBC and Junckers chums.
These are NOT our friends-Poland and New Europe are, but Germany, France and ireland are not
Let it collapse, as long as we`re out then I`ll be happy.
March 2019, deal or no deal as we said last June.
And if the usual suspects are NOT howling and raging at what May has got for us-then she`s gone.
Only howls of pain and demonstrations will show that we`ve got off the Titanic at Queenstown.

Back in the days of the waning Roman Empire they thought they could use the Gothic refugees as cheap cannon fodder troops. The western half was finished a hundred years later. Doesn’t the bit about ferrying them over sound familiar? (from Ammianus Marcellinus)

In this expectation various officials were sent with vehicles to transport the savage horde, and diligent care was taken that no future destroyer of the Roman state should be left behind, even if he were smitten by a fatal disease.

Accordingly, having by the emperor’s permission obtained the privilege of crossing the Danube and settling in parts of Thrace, they were ferried over for some nights and days embarked by companies in boats, on rafts, and in hollowed tree-trunks; and because the river is by far the most dangerous of all and was then swollen by frequent rains, some who, because of the great crowd, struggled against the force of the waves and tried to swim were drowned; and they were a good many.

With such stormy eagerness on the part of insistent men was the ruin of the Roman world brought in.
