I notice May is bringing in a law that means that if you or your family wish retain ownership of your body once it is deceased you have to actively apply to the state.
This is quite nasty and scary stuff that you don’t actually own your body, it now means you have your body on loan from the state.
Can any leftwinger that visits this site please tell me what is conservative ( small state ) about May?

It’s worth reading, both for Prof Bono’s informed opinions and to remind ourselves that such opinions are never represented on the BBC – however authoritative and well researched they may be.

I know there’s the “Good news is no news” adage but as that old ITV news bloke, the one who liked cats, said – ‘ Just a half hour per week of good news would be nice ‘.
UK news is like US news with all the hope, patriotism and confidence removed.

”BBC. How would one go about making a digital copy of it (other than playing it out aloud and digitally recording the sound)?”

The best way to download and record radio and TV from BBC iplayer and without signing in/registering,
is using get_iplayer ‘’a free non BBC utility for downloading TV and radio programmes from BBC iPlayer.’’

Download and run it from: https://sourceforge.net/projects/get-iplayer/

A pop up window opens, it has a desktop icon, and will take a few mins to index current BBC programmes.

Next go to the BBC iplayer site, and get the episode url address,eg
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p05fzldm/blue-planet-ii-the-prequel

    use this template:

    get_iplayer “abcd” –get –modes=best –subtitles

And copy the tv / radio url tight into where abcd is now, replacing abcd, but leaving the ” ” so it looks like this.

    get_iplayer “http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p05fzldm/blue-planet-ii-the-prequel” –get –modes=best –subtitles

Then copy and paste all that line into the get iplayer window. Maybe Press enter on keyboard, to wake it up, It will find the prog after a min or two and start downloading it as a permanent mp4.

    Read this BBC article and see what you think .. The strangest things to happen at a party conference {bbc.co.uk 05oct2017}

Conservative Party Conference = Controversial statement regards Brexit (BAD)

Labour = 8 People dancing and joy (JOY)

The Monster Raving Loony Party = Fluorescent poo policy (STUPID)

    UKIP = Awkward Kiss (DIVISIONS)

Lib Dem = Dancing and singing ‘Rage Against the Machine’s Killing In The Name’ (EVIL)

… and we end on, note that Conservatives have been mentioned already …

Conservative Party = people stretching and was the a participant breaking the rules? Possibly? (POSSIBLY BAD)

    – ‘was the a participant breaking the rules?’ – BBC, why not use your £3.5bn News Service to find out if he was breaking some rules?

The BBC showing us what they do, do best…

    http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-41502661/100-women-i-transitioned-and-lost-my-male-privilege

(below taken from the BBC webshite)
“Male privilege” is the concept that men have certain advantages within society for no other reason than the fact they are men.
Tech entrepreneur Dr Vivienne Ming, who is transgender, discovered this in her thirties when she transitioned.
In her role as chief scientist at a tech industry recruitment firm she has also calculated the value of this advantage.

So the BBC are clearly believers of, and are champions and full time political activists to bring about the end of ‘male privilege’

Lets have a look at where females are being disproportionately disadvantaged….

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/283475/prison-population-and-capacity-of-united-kingdom-uk-by-gender/

So men make up 95% of the prison population…

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/381373/london-homelessness-rough-sleepers-by-gender/

So men make up 85% of the homeless population…

    https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/lifeexpectancies/bulletins/nationallifetablesunitedkingdom/20132015

So men live 3 years less..

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/11/men-women-prison-sentence-length-gender-gap_n_1874742.html

You couldnt be more left wing than the Huff’….so men are being sentence longer for same offences…

I am struggling to see what Dr ‘Vivienne Ming’ is going to use as evidence to prove his case. I think what he may have discovered is people arent as easily confused and ready to ignore reality than he was

So, Jean-Claude Juncker, as Luxemburg’s Finance Minister and Prime Minister, oversees the illegal, (under EU law), practice of enticing companies into the country by reducing their tax liability. The EU, under Jean-Claude Juncker, is now suing Luxemburg for carrying out the actions he over saw.

The BBC should have this on the front page of their Web Site news, not hidden away.

    ‘Go polygamy’ app stirs controversy in Indonesia {bbc.co.uk 02oct2017}
“An app targeting polygamists is stirring controversy in Indonesia – the world’s largest Muslim majority nation. It’s targeting Muslim men looking for a second, third or fourth wife.”

    What’s Wrong with Polygamy? {bbc.co.uk – asian network – dec2011}

“However, on the other side of Birmingham Mo who married his second wife without the consent of his first wife is now struggling to keep his two wives happy, he has to face the consequences of his actions and make a heart wrenching decision. It’s not just men deciding to take second wives – Aisha a divorced mother of three started an affair with a married man. When he wanted to divorce his first wife and marry Aisha, although flattered said she simply didn’t want a full time husband, she wanted to be a second wife.

BBC – You couldn’t make it up Dept.

This morning, hand-wringing over the sixth consecutive month of falling car sales.

At lunchtime, air pollution is failing to meet targets.

Well, if the car fleet is not expanding and in fact shrinking and not becoming as new as everyone expected, then the old cars that did not breach pollution levels over two years ago cannot be responsible for the past two years failures to meet air standards.

What could it be? BBC and Roger Harrabin are not interested in finding out. They blame the car. Which is obviously is not causing the problem. Dim, or what?

One probable culprit will be the increasing roll-out of 20mph speed limits. The BBC, unfortunately, haven’t noticed. Increasing congestion in cities because of more cycling and more cycle lanes? Nope, not spotted that one either.

£3.7bn a year, thousands of journalists who don’t journo out to see what’s going on.

    Sad.

You’re almost as bad as Horrorbin at times! 😉

You are correct as far as the long-term trend is concerned but as we know that’s often largely due to recessions and their effect on road miles.

        • StewGreen says:

I am correct by official government figures.
Recession is not the root of road emissions falling cos miles driven has risen
Most roads lie within in the law, but there are certain hotspot junctions.
It’s important to realise that what counts is what enters your lungs not cumulative total from a road side monitor.

Which one would the criminal migrants choose?

Q3) Now say an adult crime happens in one of the countries.
Which country will know (not with absolute certainty) that the crime was not committed by a child migrant?

Q4) Now say you have 2000 migrants who know that if you are labelled as a child you get 100% care and immediate access no questions asked.
Which country would they go to?

Bannon is a real thinker, and it was a tragedy that he was forced out of the WH due to the machinations of Kelly, MacMaster, Kurshner et al (all opposed to Pres. Trump’s agenda). Getting back to the BBC – scandalously, none of their principal interviewers would ever allow Bannon to speak at such length, explain in detail how he sees Trump and his policies, and develop themes. They would interrupt constantly, go off on tangents, harass their guest with what they would think are ‘killer’ points, and never allow him to complete a sentence. I hope Bannon could cope with that, but I’m not sure that anyone could survive that sort of atrocious treatment by an interviewer.

Personally I would have thought people with R and D experience outside the public sector could be good candidates, with track records of not accepting the obvious at face value but looking to assemble results (aka evidence) to construct a coherent hypothesis.

      It’s all in the CV.

An associate of mine had worked in the aircraft industry but had moved to ‘the public sector’. A candidate from the aircraft industry applied to ‘the public sector’ and my associate was on the interview panel. The candidate was rejected because ‘he lacked project management experience’, as evidenced by his CV. My associate argued that he had personal knowledge of the work that the candidate must have done and ‘project management’ was a key part of it. His objections were overuled as there was ‘no evidence’ to support that on the CV.

The job was given to someone who had never worked in project management but who had woven key words into his CV on the basis that he had ‘designed’, ‘procured’, ‘planned’ and ‘executed’ the fitting out of his kitchen with units from B&Q.

Of course they only had his word for it.

I heard Pre-Owned Jones in a debate with some Tory haggette on Jeremy Swine’s show today about whether we should feel sympathy for TM after all of yesterday’s f**k ups.

O.J. said that no we shouldn’t but we should feel sympathy for all the “gay refugees” who had been refused the right to remain here by TM, even though they could face persecution in their home countries due to their sexual proclivities.

This was apparently particularly egregious behaviour by the PM in Jones’ view, since these gentlemen had gone to the trouble of making a charming little film of themselves having sex with each other, to prove they were homosexual, which they sent to her (WTF?); yet she remained strangley unswayed by such subtle cinematic machinations.

Owen Goal seemed mightily steamed up about this (it was the first reason he gave when attacking her) possibly because he hadn’t managed to get hold of a copy? Jezza Vile attempted to give the (weak) Toryette the last word but Jones managed (was allowed) to butt in at the end and had, in fact, monopolized most of the discussion before then.

I know someone who will be staying at the Jury Inn Hotel in Southampton. I checked Google maps for shopping around the area – and the nearest things to it were all mosques – three of them – all within a few minutes walk:
    The Shah Jalal Mosque
    The Masjid Abu Bakr
    The Southampton Central Mosque
There was also various Islamic bookstores and charity shops.

I suppose there must be a large Islamic community in Southampton? Things are rapidly being Islamified.

In Islam you must give at least 2.5% of your wealth each year to charity (called zakat) – but that charity is ring fenced for the Islamic community, or for defending the Islamic community or for expanding the Islamic community. It can’t go into helping starving Africans for example, unless it is part of a process of converting them to Islam.

It seems that Theresa May’s cough was self-inflicted. The day before her important speech she apparently went on numerous speeches to rally different conservative groups and had about 25 interviews. David Cameron would ensure before a big speech that he would protect his voice, by resting it beforehand.

So it seems another example of Theresa May doing her own thing, without taking advice from those with experience.

It reinforces the growing evidence that she is not a natural leader, and perhaps a disaster of a leader. The result is that the Labour Party are being given a free ride and that insufficient scrutiny is being given to their credentials. Jeremy Corbyn with his “positive” messages is running rings around her as leader.

It seems clear that Theresa is a weak leader, possibly a disastrous leader. The question now is who can replace her. Who is strong enough to come through the wave of media discrediting all the potential replacements in their desire to ensure a Jeremy Corbyn – Dianne Abbott government following the next general election.

Surely all that is needed is a strong – robust Tory leader to redirect the spotlight back on the inadequacies of the current Labour Party. In my view Jacob Rees-Mogg is not prepared to be the leader, he is someone more interested in supporting a leader and in developing policy. So who do you think, if anyone, would be better than Theresa May, in steering Britain through the Brexit process AND ensuring Corbyn – Abbott don’t form the next government?

Ps I would be prepared for the Government to propose an extension to the Brexit process if that means giving time for the Tories to reorganise (post Cameron) to get a strong-robust leader and leadership team into place – that will route the Corbyn – Abbott Labour Party at the next General Election and create a strong vision of a post Brexit Britain.

10pm BBC1 news reports about the number of children in temporary accommodation. There was a man in work with his student wife (non British born) who had been evicted though ‘no fault of their own’. I am lucky, I have never been evicted. I would have appreciated an explanation. We also had a black woman, in tears, because her daughter has to go to school on an empty stomach because school is too far away. Now most schools I know offer a breakfast club, some giving a free breakfast, some at a nominal cost. The other alternative would be for her daughter to get up 5 minutes earlier, or even a banana on the run (cost about 10pence). Of course the reason why there is a shortage of temporary accommodation for these children is the vicious cuts. Perhaps the number of recently arrived people may have had an effect, but the BBC never mentioned that.

Deborah. Yes once again the effects of mass immigration are not even hinted about. If the evil private land lords are evicting who are they filling their properties with to pay their mortgages. Mrs Dave & I had a conversation on the other point you noted about breakfast clubs. Are we supposed to believe there are not “free” meals being handed out in schools in that area? I also liked the caps mean rents can no longer be afforded ( cap with children £500 per week. £26K p.a.) Why should these people have their wages boosted tax free up to that figure and beyond by Mr Taxpayer.

StewGreen: How did BBC “diversity” get to mean that the presenters of the R4 Media Show, R4 Lunchtime news and the One Show are the SAME PERSON : Amol Rajan

Because diversity has been reduced to a box ticking exercise. It doesn’t contain the name of the individual. It doesn’t contain the competence of the individual nor the education of the individual. Diversity means “non-white”, “non-straight”, “non-male”, “non-English heritage”, “non – Christian”, “non-Catholic” et cetera. So we end up with Amol Rajan, Nadiya Hussain and the like multiple times.

Diversity in practice means take over, a take over and replacement of traditional English and British culture. A revolution has been occurring in plain view but it has not been recognised – because it is disguised under the name of “diversity”.

Don’t threaten to kill anyone who has different opinions to you, thereby forcing the host government to pass Draconian thought crime laws.

Take responsibility when members of your faith have murdered 460 people over the last 3 years in Europe; show that you are doing everything humanly possibly to eradicate such evil, rather than playing the victim and claiming someone looking at you harshly is worse than murdering children with a nail bomb.
