One of the best things about the clocks going back, is that you get to start the day in fine fettle, indulge in some serious gardening, talk with lots of chums over the hedge or in the lanes, and look forward to a special few tinctures at lunchtime.
Then you can do the same the next day…
Yesterday, not one chum I spoke to had heard or watched anything on the BBC, they all poo poo the dreadful stuff churned out these days!
A very special lady friend always votes labour, and we have endless banter about the vagaries of ‘politics’, and the crap attached to the subject. But nobody even tries to defend the BBC, they just say it is crap – just that!
And another bonus of the clocks going back is that you can go to sleep in front of the fire an hour earlier too…
One thing I found fascinating this weekend is that – once again – a little bit of information slips out via the BBC that contradicts the BBC’s own narrative over Brexit.
We hear regularly via the BBC that after we have left the EU, our agricultural sector will suffer because we will be unable to attract poor East Europeans from EU member States to work as slaves for a pittance picking our UK grown fruit and veg.
On Farming Today (or its weekend equivalent) on Sunday morning Radio 4 (6.30 – 7.00am) two little facts were let slip:
1. The rules on casual working for EU temporary migrants were changed in 2013, three years prior to the Referendum, let alone our leaving the EU, and,
2. These inward migrant workers are not paid a pittance by those businesses who operate within UK Law (and no doubt face various supervisions from Trade Bodies to inspection by Government Departments), they are paid – at least – the UK Minimum Wage in the same way that any indigenous UK worker would be.
I do not have a dog in the Catalonia/Spain fight but I’m a little taken aback by the Sky News reporter referring to the Catalan president & co as “ringleaders”
Interesting view on statistics from EuroPol on terrorist attacks, when you count dead bodies it’s harder to hide the facts. Shows how to redefine success with words.
If you superimpose the two preceding charts, there is, obviously, zero correlation between the number of attacks and the number of dead. Even if there are fewer attacks, more people are being killed. In 2007, there were 583 attacks but zero people killed. In 2016, there were 142 attacks with 142 killed.” {gatestoneinstitute 29oct2017}
– You can’t hide the increase in dead bodies, though EuroPol wants to. Applies to BBC view of stats as well.
5 mins ago they were telling us that women footballers are equivalent to men
Yet their question shows the BBCLackOsSelfAwareness, cos of course many many female football stars are out as gay.

10am R4 News : “Record CO2 leads
highest for 800,000 years”
Matt McGrath etc
“combination of man an El Nino ”
..No F-ing mention that it changed to La Nina now
nor that Sept 2017 was coldest for 12 years (even by their fiddled standards)
Google tells me that un had an official launch time of 10am
so BBC was ready with a prepared package.
“Last year’s increase was 50% higher than the average of the past 10 years.”
OMG
“2016 saw average concentrations of CO2 hit 403.3 parts per million, up from 400ppm in 2015.”
… hangon that increase is 0.75%
(CO2 in a submarine is 100% higher than that and sailors live fine)
“The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be.” – Douglas Adams
So hangon on this “sex toy shopping incident happened” in 2010
7 years ago !
And the BBC think this trumps the story of one of their own staff having 3-4 grope allegations against him and being suspended TODAY
So it’s established, ‘a disgruntled’ Ms Edmonson stopped working for MP Mark Garnier shortly after the ‘incident’ in 2010, but she now works for ‘another MP’. Would it not be relevant to find out who this is, and perhaps more significantly, of which party?

Have Halloween costume bans gone too far? {US/Canada}
“Canadian schools are wrestling with how to guide students and parents towards Halloween costumes that aren’t considered offensive or culturally insensitive.” – thought and behaviour control
Bar offers discount for women on their period {Middle East}
“In an initiative to show solidarity with menstruating women, a bar in Israel has decided to give them a 25% discount on drinks.” – female privilege, excludes all men and women not on period

“Experts and campaigners say black dogs and cats are harder to rehome due to people’s superstitions.” – superstitions or cuteness?” – how many are not homed due to religious beliefs?
Stephen Nolan last night on R5 shouted down all the callers who didn’t toe the libmob line
This regular phone-in has The Shouty Left wing bishop and the American conservative Charlie Wolf
but it was Nolan and the Bishop both shouting down Charlie last night.
Then when Nolan asked what women could do to prevent abuse, Charlie mentioned clothing
and Nolan went crazy
but callers came in to support Charlie, Nolan took the attitude ‘You’re not going say that on my prog’
It wasn’t like he let them speak and disagreed, no as soon as they got one word out ..he’d shout them down.
– So if Nolan saw a flasher in the park and punched him
by Nolan’s logic the guy should be able to say “The way I was undressed doesn’t make any difference ”
That's about six months now that you've been shouted down at every opportunity by the " impartial " host…
Coming Home: Bowe Bergdahl vs the United States
BBC4 9pm
The story of the US Army sergeant’s return to America in 2014 after being held in captivity by the Taliban for five years, when he was vilified in sections of the media as a traitor and faced a court-martial on charges of desertion and endangering the lives of fellow soldiers. Film-maker Sean Langan gained access to Bergdahl and his parents Bob and Jani to present a tale of a soldier who made a mistake and paid a terrible price, and about a family caught in a storm of false allegations and fake news.

The problem with Start The Week is that is presented by a white person.
.. hang on Amol Rajan is presenting.
Funny kind of diversity at the BBC when every prog is presented by the same person.

Interesting view on statistics from EuroPol on terrorist attacks, when you count dead bodies it’s harder to hide the facts. Shows how to redefine success with words.
“This second chart looks much more in line with the feelings of the common man, don’t you think? Approximately 150 dead in the EU from terror attacks in 2015 and 2016, compared to zero in 2007, or 4 in 2014. (That is what is so endearing about statistics: you can manipulate many things, such as the psychological and emotional damage or the consequences of a “foiled attack” — but not the number of dead bodies).
If you superimpose the two preceding charts, there is, obviously, zero correlation between the number of attacks and the number of dead. Even if there are fewer attacks, more people are being killed. In 2007, there were 583 attacks but zero people killed. In 2016, there were 142 attacks with 142 killed.” {gatestoneinstitute 29oct2017}

When you restrict it to the “deserving” it ceases to exist.
