No fun in this but when ever I hear mainstream media talking about the negotiations it is as though we must meet their demands. I definitely believe he who pays the piper…. and we really do pay. No agreements will harm Eu countries as much, if not more , than us as we can source stuff from outside the EU . I can live without a beemer.
Too simple ? I don’t think so. The unelected Eurocrats negotiating will be gone one day but our country will go on.
PM was 15 minutes of doom laden cherry picking soundbite propaganda. They are not interested in highlighting any of the positives and constantly construct their reports as if the end of world is just around the corner. I am definitely seeing a determination in people that I speak to to see this through to the end. Im even a fan of Noel Gallagher now after his comments.
Syn,
When I hear stuff like the PM of Eire making demands on Blighty as though we are equals I really get even more nationalistic than before. Maybe some of these countries should be given a little maths lesson. Eire has about 3 million people with a million others . Blighty has over 60 million. I detect an imbalance there. I might be wrong but l think only one country in Europe has a larger population – The Reich with about 84 million.
It’s a pity May isn’t a bit more Maggie like and put Tusk and their others in their rightful place . This appearance of the EU dictating to us will have long term adverse consequences. They need us more than we need them .
I put the PM programme on my banned list long long ago. Queer liberal super egos like Edward Mail doing the smug act day in day out was more than I could take. Well done if you’re still listening.
Absolutely. When the clips of Mrs May were being played of her answering questions from lightweight journos I found myself craving for Maggie to burst in, chew them up and spit them back from whence theye came. Why this current crop find it so hard to fight back is beyond me. And yes it’s tough listening to it but as the saying goes “no pain no gain”.
I’m still waiting for the Irish Tea Shop to come up with any proposals for a workable border arrangement. The constant demands for us to make concessions is wearing thin.
RJ –
I agree -on my reckoning it’s more in the interest of the EU to have a border than us – after all – haven’t heard of too many people swimming the Irish Sea .
Apparently the celebrities in need thing on al Beeb raised 50 000 000 000 pounds which is what the EU bribe is – so why not give them that and cut the talks by a year – ? 596 days .
A classic 25 minutes of propaganda Humph “ Eu citizens are leaving this country because of Brexit – or so we are told “
He then has a chat with a useless statistician who tries to explain that actually more people are coming than leaving .
Humph turns to the NHS and says the Eu types are leaving that – reply – we don’t know – there’s not enough stats .
He really tried to get some bad news but couldn’t. Bet we won’t hear that statistition again.
This was followed up be the account of a 20 girl who topped herself after being let out of a psych clinic to buy fags. She’d just had a baby and apparently has post natal depression. Not enough support . Not enough psychiatric people – not enough of this not enough of that.
No mention of the father. No mention of grandparents . No mention of why have the baby in the first place. I was waiting for Brexit to be blamed because there aren’t enough psychiatrists. Fortunately it never got that far but wasn’t far away.
Then it was time to hit the’ off ‘button
In EVERY way we hold all the cards with the eu.
Our fishing waters. We can keep the lot.
Our defence. We don’t need the eu Army but they will miss us.
Security and intelligence. Our intelligence gathering is so far ahead of all of Europe’s put together.
Trade. We all know wto rules would benefit us by about £6-£8 billion so we win there. The rest of the world trade would make shopping cheaper.
The money they want from us, we keep it. £20-£60 billion more for the nhs etc. We will pay our mep’s pensions and they can whistle for the rest.
We want our share of assets back from the eu, a good £15 billions worth I hear.
We want to send back all the criminals and spongers collecting benefits and fiddling our system. This would also free up lots of homes for British homeless people and we wouldn’t need to build 250,000 houses every year to house Bulgarians and the like.
I could go on and on but everything is in our favour. I can’t think of any area where we don’t lose out currently and we can’t change anything being inside it. Isn’t it somewhere around 200 plus times we’ve put something up for a vote in the eu and up until now they have all been defeated.
We win in every way when we get out.
The media are trying to portray us as the underdogs in the negotiations but we are not.
Our politicians negotiating are giving in to everything the eu wants.
I could understand it if we were getting lots from the eu (like Poland for example) but they are a huge ball and chain.
OUT NOW.
EG
Hear hear.
There is no good reason why we are still in the EU.
It’s just those with vested interests and civil servants leading the indoctrinated.
Will somebody in government get a grip NOW!!
We’ll be able to give all the blasted remoaners like Blair, Clegg, Clarke, Soubry, Branson, the BBC and the rest of them a bloody nose, and they can then all feck off and do something for themselves, like get a life!
We’re at last getting out ‘despite’ the ramainers, who are still getting paid to decry our democracy.
My ten pennies worth – we will leave the EU without a trade deal. Everything they have said and done since our historic decision has generated no good will on their part whatsoever. They threaten, demean, laugh at and generally criticise constantly – even when attempting conciliatory small talk. They can’t help themselves – because they know they cannot offer a deal as if we are still in the EU (i.e. paying shedloads into their wasteful coffers). All this talk of negotiation is so much guff. Their negotiating position is;
1) Screw the UK for as much up front readies as it can (keeping open the fantasy of a trade deal to up the ante).
2) Offer up the shitiest deal it can possibly put together to teach the populations of those EU countries who may (desperately) wish to emulate our proud resistance what they can expect as punishment and retribution for their defiance.
The end result will be our forging a brave new trading future with both the rest of the world and the remnants of the EU following its swift and messy implosion because as EG puts it so succinctly above – they need us more than we need them.
I’m not sure if the Eu negotiators have any idea about the effect they are having in putting backs up. Maybe it’s dutch – Belgian thing . I know it’s filtered through the al Beeb bias machine but even so when huge bribes to get out ( and get what in return ?) even the most neutral might think “ hang on a minute” .
As JRM says again and again – There is only Brexit – not hard – not soft. There is no “divorce” either – we were never married.

We are going to build a wall, and they are going to pay for it. Now who came up with that perfect solution ?
