Mid-Week Open Thread

Apart from John Humphrys noting that Lord Malloch-Brown was ‘subverting democracy’ as he collaborates with a foreign billionaire to sell-out Britain to a foreign power, the EU, the BBC seems to have pretty much ignored Soros’ ‘cash for collaboration’ plot to buy influence over British politicians.  If it was Murdoch?  Did enjoy MB’s assertion that his treachery was ’empowering democracy’ and giving a voice to those whose vote for Brexit was a ‘howl of protest at being ignored’.  He does this by ignoring their historic vote, their ‘howl of protest’, and by subverting that democracy.

The BBC doesn’t ignore Anna Soubry of course, she gets the red-carpet treatment, her every utterance treated, like the EU’s Barnum, as if an eternal and unquestioned truth.  How different to other Tory Back-benchers who support Brexit and are regularly portrayed as mad fascists holding the party to ransom.  Soubry gets a free hand to say what she likes as in the Week at Westminster where she claimed that she put the interests of her constituents before party, she is prepared to compromise, she’s pragmatic.  MP’s must listen to their constituents.  Of course her constituents voted for Brexit which is why Soubry puts their interests first by…er…trying to stop Brexit.  The problem, as she sees it, is that her constituents didn’t know what they were voting for, no idea about the single market or customs union [despite it being made as clear as day by all parties in the referendum].   She moaned that she had been called a ‘traitor’ in the newspapers and says this has definitely led to death threats.  Hmmm…maybe they called her a traitor because she is one…to her own constituents and to the British people who voted ‘OUT’.  Her own actions led to the threats, can’t blame it on the papers who merely reported the truth.

Nice if the BBC spent more time pointing that out to all those Remoaners who demand a recount.

Any other bias out there?  List it all here….

The problem is one for the EU. From what I have read, HMG have no problem with an open border using modern technology to police imports/exports.
This is an EU problem – with an external border .

Perhaps they might like to address the REAL problems they are having with THEIR external borders in Greece, the Balkan States and the Mediterranean before telling us it is our problem.

      Chalky,

Being from NI and having had a quick look at the the names of the authors and everyone interviewed, excepting probably both of the Johnstons, I could almost guarantee that all of their votes go to Sinn Fein/ IRA on each of our many election days, and that their anti-British sentiments are much more strongly and deeply ingrained than any loyalty that they may appear to pledge to the EU.

Sentiments much like those of the broadcaster that passes sixth-form shite like this off as journalism then.

We’ve promised the EU that we won’t create a hard border, but so far we haven’t promised that the EU won’t create a hard border. We’ve said that we think that’s a decision for them to make. This has been reported by the BBC as Britain being unhelpful in the negotiations.

        • Rich says:

          I know RJ.

Barnier, the EU and of course the bBbc are the only ones now insisting upon and promoting the idea of a hard border, often raising as a major threat the inevitability of a return to violence as a direct result of a lorry driver or commuter being inconvenienced, having to fit a chip on a number plate, or a farmer having to fill in an extra form. Nonsense.

The IRA, strangely seldom identified by the bBbc as being the source of this threat, will find a drone a lot harder to dodge than a friendly Garda and they know it. The technology available to the security forces now would ensure that any renewed conflict would be a lot more quickly resolved in their favour.

Corbyns chums in Sinn Fein/ IRA are enjoying the thin, thin veneer of respectability garnered by being gladhanded by the likes of Corbyn and McDonnell and the rewards of being politicians far too much to risk losing the support and influence they now have. They would become political pariahs once more, even in America now that they have been touched by terrorism themselves, should their colleagues begin murdering women and children indiscriminately again.

And what support would there be for a hard border or violence in border communities in the Republic where Irish citizens are able to benefit from enhanced employment prospects across the border in NI as well as free healthcare and free education funded by the British government and the British taxpayer, unbelievably it would seem without restriction and gratis?

It may not be the ideal solution but if the EU want to impose a hard border it seems to me that, much like the border of Gibraltar, those on the EU side of it will be affected much more adversely than those of us on the British side. So be it if needs be then.

      Number 7,

I have never heard of this presenter and hadn’t really thought about the fact that there are hundreds of other “stars” like Christa on bBbc radio and television throughout Britain and the rest of the bBbc empire earning similarly stupid amounts for doing very, very little. “Earning more than the Prime Minister”. Goes without saying.

Of course we’re all aware on here of the extravagant scale of the bBbc, their profligate spending of tax payers monies, their financial unaccountability and wastefulness, but it takes someone like the unfortunate Christa to remind us of the scale of the greed and arrogance of the bBbc, their undeserved entitlement and the underhanded slyness that shapes their culture. We have to remember and more people need to realise that Lineker, Evans, Norton and the like are just the tip of the iceberg.

I hope these prove to be very difficult times for the bBbc and that, however fanciful I know it may seem, their finances and funding are now really properly examined, the extent of their lack of morality revealed.

is Tom Daley having a baby and how a ” couple surprise each other”
today. I am very pleased for Tom Daley and his husband and for
the two ladies who are going to get married. BUT headline news?
I suppose this isn’t fake news such as the “top story” on the BBC
recently about the Macedonian tennis player who was going
to boycott the Australian Open if the organisers wouldn’t
change the name of the Margaret Court Arena. This
player by the name of Grncarov was opposed to
Margaret’s Court’s hostility to same -sex marriages.
At the time of his supposed boycott he was treated like royalty
at the BBC. It has subsequently been found out that the next

Lets be honest about this. Is Tom Daley actually having a baby himself? The mind boggles when I consider where it might have to gestate. Or is Tom Daley “buying” a baby in effect renting somebodies womb.

I’ve been wondering why this bothers me so much ( I posted above somewhere). I’m not anti gay. I suppose it’s the cringeworthy language that is used in the media about these events: Having a baby with his ‘husband’…. not known if using surrogate blah blah. Well how else? the Bokanovsky process hasn’t arrived yet in our particular brave new world.

Also puke making is the prominence given to this – as if a royal baby was on the way.

The correct account would be: “Tom Daley or his ‘husband’ has hired a woman to become pregnant using the sperm of one of them and an egg from a second woman. The carrier woman will go through the hell and risks of pregnancy for no reward other than expenses (if in the uk) and the warm glow she will get for allowing the ‘parents’ to think they are just like any other (i.e. heterosexual) couple having a baby.”

The next generation will be produced largely by heterosexual pair bonds, as it always has been. This eagerness of the MSM (not just the BBC I think) to celebrate the outliers is worrying.

The news appears to be compiled by children, to be devoured by those with one brain cell and anyone who reads a red-top. Gravitas news for adults is clearly a thing of the past. Oxfam still the lead story! I said they would get at least a week out of it and they are still goinf strong.

“Oxfam say they cannot guarantee that none of their 10,000 staff are sexually abusing staff.”

Obviously. That level of certainty is pretty much impossible.

Plus one of those convenient ‘BBC investigations’ has looked at the gender of the best paid consultants, begrudgingly admitting that there might be more men there as they do more overtime. They still do not grasp that equal opportunities/equal outcomes issue, or that men and women generally operate as a unit so who earns the money isn’t irrelevant because it is the wife/family who spends it. Let alone that men and women might be different. It is a shame there was no smoking gun of ‘discrimination’ or they couldn’t masturbate over that for weeks.

Plus a white paedophile! Shame it happened decades ago whereas the ‘Asians’ are running amok as we speak but they are doing an excellent job of giving it blanket coverage, therefore every group is definitely just as likely to molest children. Man City’s trillionaire pwners couldn’t possibly be why so many have suddenly come forward, could it?

Perfect news day for the Beeb.

I’ve had it with the BBC’s extreme identity politics obsession. The trouble is I can’t do without live TV because I like my football too much, especially with the World Cup coming up. I’m at the stage though where I’m seriously considering refusing to pay and I’ll take whatever consequences that entails. My latest complaint about their relentless agenda has gone in as reproduced below –

I’ve complained a number of times in the past about the BBC’s news website and its obsession with identity politics and how this is informing its selection of stories. Unbelievably this is actually getting worse, especially since the inclusion of Newsbeat articles on the main page. It’s no longer a quality news site, but instead seems to be repositioning itself as a site for inconsequential show biz stories and especially items pushing identity politics. I could have picked any time but articles I’ve seen over just a few days include – two lesbians proposing to each other (third most prominent story on the BBC homepage); women doctors lose out (second main story); gay diver is having baby (fourth main story); Liverpool supporters’ pro-Muslim chant (eighth main story); in Spain, Spanish woman gets sexist rejection letter (twelfth main story); China’s biggest show has woman in blackface (second main story on world news page). Articles have included two stories about Australian transgender people in a matter of days; NME editor says female acts are being ignored; interracial Youtube gay couple split up; Burberry celebrates LGBTQ flag; eSports league for gamers welcomes its first female player; 91 year old woman is proud to come out; I think I’m a girl in a boy’s body; publisher is only publishing women. Inclusion is important but the prominence and over representation of these stories most of which are simply not news indicates a clear agenda based on liberal identity politics. Meanwhile, speaking as a straight white male (about 42% of the population), I’m finding little of interest and virtually nothing aimed at me. Even stock photos of white males seem to be disappearing. In fact, straight white males as a group appear most regularly in articles in which they’re being vilified. No doubt I will be fobbed off yet again with the template reply stating how impartial the BBC is despite all of this overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The rather pretty Arthur Patel (that’s her name as she pronounces it phonetically, at least) brings us our BBC London news this morning. Apparently a load of statistics make the headline news story in the capital. In reality the BBC seem to be picking up some lefty-minded campaign about housing.

OK let’s consider the figures the BBC wants to give us. In the last 20 years the proportion of younger (up to 34 years of age) home owners has dropped from 47% to 20%.

Firstly, that 20 year point (1997) marked the beginning of the long period of Labour government which in lefty outlook was basically antithetical to private homeownership and so no wonder the post-Thatcher peak high in private ownership was in ’97.

It’s a rather cheeky method to measure a trend from a peak but ok we’ll allow that.

Now tell us about the population growth in London since 1997. Tell us about the percentage of under 34 year olds born abroad?

A far, far greater problem in the NHS is the number of part time doctors who are ‘working mothers’. This is exacerbated by the policy of training more female than male applicants at medical schools.

With the BBC currently occupied territory under the control of the Left there is zero chance of this even being reported, let alone investigated.

It’s a particular problem among GPs and being compounded by other factors, including the high number of premature (male) retirements, caused by the way modern ‘tick box’ medicine is being enforced by the NHS. Having an enormous pension pot tucked away, demoralised the way the NHS has dehumanised their profession, it’s no wonder that older GPs give up in disgust.

The BBC isn’t interested as it doesn’t serve its ‘Tory Coots!’ agenda.

The diversity and positive discrimination department must of
been asking Beethoven, Bruckner, Brahms,Bartok,Bellini, Bernstein. Where are the women? Where are the African and Asian composers? And Bruckner should be banned . He liked young women!
I have finally given up on the Londonistan programme after the 6PM National news. And in the morning. It’s not so much the
presenters, Patel, Ahmed and Lateef. The BBC can employ every
single Indian sub continent presenters and reporters in the
    world if they like.
It’s just what the Trotskyist and fifth columnist editors and sub

to relish in saying ” The TORREEES and BOSSES in a vindictive
way . When referring to the Conservatives or administrators of
the NHS or London Transport. Then there is the Metropolitan police bashing.

“The diversity and positive discrimination department must of been asking Beethoven, Bruckner, Brahms,Bartok,Bellini, Bernstein. Where are the women? Where are the African and Asian composers?”

That’s a problem which extends well beyond the BBC and Londonistan. (I’m not sure why there is no “Bradfordistan”, as the city was well ahead of its time.)

We have contemptible idiots like Ivan Hewett (formerly R3):

Opera has a race problem, but we can’t let bullies censor artists

It’s hard to believe, but classical music is finally getting somewhere with its race problem

Race problem? Blacks don’t even turn up to free open air concerts because they’re not bloody interested. When will that fact sink in? SE Asians, on the other hand, don’t seem to have a problem – as usual.

Why is it only white stuff that has to be “representative”?

Using this clown’s logic, the following also have “race problems”:

      Brass bands
      Victoria and Albert Museum
      National Railway Museum
      The Yorkshire Dales
Anything owned by the National Trust (in spite of the image its brochure likes to give), or English Heritage
      etc etc

If there is a problem, it’s a class problem, but nobody cares about the absence of white, working class people because they don’t tick any boxes and have an irritating habit of voting incorrectly. This is in spite of the fact that several surveys, including one quite recently, show that white working class boys are seriously under performing.

If you’re not interested in classical music, opera, or any of the above, don’t get complacent. Unless your preferred leisure activity is popular with blacks, they’ll be coming after you.

I’ve been listening to an al Beeb 3 parter about Cameron .
I laughted when it was stated that the positive outcome of the 2008 bust – public sector cuts – led to an increase in unemployed EU citizens coming to Blighty for work – thus putting pressure on public services and wages thus pushing people toward Brexit.

When the voting age was reduced from 21 to 18 in 1970, the age of majority was similarly reduced. It therefore follows that if the voting age is reduced to 16, then the age of majority will be 16. Sixteen year olds will be able to marry without parental permission, will be able to sign legal contracts, and will have to fight in combat if they join the armed forces (again without parental consent).

Our ancestors thought that 21 was the age which marked maturity. Current research seems to show that the human brain is not fully formed until around the age of 25, so it seems they knew better than us what constitutes adulthood.

The desire by leftists to impose the rigours of adulthood on 16 year olds is naked political opportunism, and should rightly be seen as a form of child abuse.

Marky -you’re not nice – however much I love watching the video you should never make fun of a man when he is mullared – Except when on taxpayers liquor . Shame he didn’t break his neck getting out of the beemer .

Ah there is comedy not aired by the BBC
BFBS have a Monty Python type team : Damn the Torpedoes
“The show takes you into action around the world, refuelling at exotic locations like the Kabul inter-services golf classic and the worst nightclub in Portsmouth.
We’ve joined an improbable cast of Dad’s Army, been pinned down under enemy fire alongside the Services’ new Feng Shui advisor and listened in to the saucy antics of kinky military partners. And we’ve heard the England Manager’s post-match report on the Battle of Hastings.”
