Start the Week Open Thread 11 June 2018

President Trump meets the Rocket Man today and its possible that the 1950 Korean War will officially end . Britain lost over 1000 dead in that war .So how will al beeb cover this historic meeting ? We can but guess.

This week marks a year since a fire in a tower block. There might be no better week  to abstain from Al Beeb…but for those witnessing the bias here be a new thread .

The Lewisham East hustings, from which the Labour and Conservative candidates had already pulled out, was stopped by Antifa. The police didn’t even let AMW enter the venue.

Will this be on the BBC? Any other msm?
Can somebody explain how shutting down a political rally in a by-election has become an accepted political tactic in the UK.
Are the police now deciding who and who is not allowed to stand and talk to the electorate?
      Crikey Dick!

To be fair, then Home Sec Treezer banned a bloke and lady from coming here to speak about the dangers of nutty folk, because nutty folk she has allowed to remain told her they would kick off if she didn’t.

        Enough is enough. Interesting precedent.

Holy christ. Trump has played a master stroke with Korea. Reminded all these spineless liberals and puppet controlled heads of state that bullish rhetoric, calling people’s bluff and showing some courage actually reaps rewards.

Fighting fire with fire, standing tall, not backing down and putting your people first can actually win.

And after such a historic first step with Kim Jung when all of Trumps people, including the man himself, were saying let’s keep it calm and not get carried away, pull off a great occasion, what do the Beed run with?

Trump claims progress (good usage of words – claims but no real proof) but here’s the kicker in the sub head “but it appears Trump gave significant ground”.

What significant ground Beeb? Did he come back with a piece of paper agreeing a non aggression treaty – no. He just said ‘listen, we’ll dial down on those joint military exercises that you don’t like (and everyone else claims are sabre rattling) but if you dick us around we’ll start them up again’.

How is that giving ground? Do these spoilt, cretinous, utterly moronic fools at the beeb not give any consideration to the idea that he actually gave away nothing.

These fucking people do my head in. How can more people not see that they would literally like to see the whole world blow up or collapse into financial ruin just so that they could have the last word in saying ‘we warned you about Trump’.

Real beauties the lot of them. The BBC and it’s acolytes are the establishment, the ancien regime vainly trying to hold back the new reality and the new people sick and tired of the lugenpresse .
The President is disdainful. The countries of S.E.Asia are indifferent and we know they lie and by their own words condemn themselves to failure. Just a matter of time .
So they think that by not reporting events like last Saturday’s demonstration in London they can hold back reality?
Losing control of events and the narrative is the beginning of the end.
It was the Czech President who some time ago said that the governments and media of the West had declared war on the people and it would not end well. They have the police, the weapons and the power but have bought lies into the world ( Solzhenitsyn) so they have nothing.

The problem for ‘them’ in this country is that the police are on the front line and can see what’s going on. At the same time the badly neglected British military know what’s going on and do not respect modern-day politicians.
Parliament had better be on its guard because it has lost credibility particularly the House of Lords.

I agree. I used to watch Daily Politics, QT, This Week and Sunday Politics but they really are just so tedious with the same old soundbites uttered by the same old people and all through the righteous bias of the BBC.

It annoys me, it frustrates and it depresses me. Farage and JRM can’t really make any headway and every single topic has an apathetic air to it that it won’t change, that it will be watered down or no will have the courage to stand up against the consensus and defend it.

American politics is so much more interesting. The increasing hysteria and all controlling TDS make that scene so much more exciting and invigorating. Granted my filter might not be pure coming through Fox news but now that the right is the underground, the punk, the resistance against the mountain of insanity and virtue signalling nonsense, it adds a delicious frisson of history being made.

Great post, Pug. You have put your finger on something that governs human behaviour more than is generally recognised – our fear of appearing inconsistent.

Salesmen use this fear to their advantage all the time. Imagine you don’t want to buy their product and they ask you why not. You say it is the price. They will trap you by saying something like, “So you like the product but the only thing that stops you buying it is the price?” If you say yes, then they have you. When they then say they’ll knock something off the price, you will feel morally bound to buy it. Why? Because otherwise you will appear inconsistent – in effect, silly, weak-minded, untrustworthy, stupid, a timewaster. Nobody wants to appear inconsistent.

You’re absolutely right, Pug, when you say that Kim Jong Un has been led into such a soft trap. The BBC are trying to suggest that Kim might be running rings around Trump. But it’s the other way round. Trump is one of the smartest operators ever to appear in public life. Everyone, especially his detractors, underestimates him. He continues to astonish me. I suspect that Trump laid some important groundwork when Pompeo met the Chinese foreign minister. We probably won’t learn the full details of this preparatory work for many years. But I think Trump does his homework and knows exactly how power and influence work.

The BBC themselves suffer from this fear of appearing inconsistent. Having despised and ridiculed Trump from day one, they cannot afford to give him the slightest bit of credit, even when he’s saving the world from nuclear war. Why? Because they might then have to admit to being inconsistent, that they seriously underestimated Trump, that they got him completely wrong, that everything they’ve been saying about him for the last three years has been vindictive twaddle, that all their journalists, reporters, experts, pundits, special correspondents and editorial teams have been fools and not worth a single penny of their inflated salaries.

    Propaganda!
Why do I see an idiot waving a European Union Flag every time Al Beeb broadcast an interview outside parliament?
This happens whichever camera angle is broadcast.
Is it a set-up by Al Beeb’s ‘propaganda team’?

I stupidly sat with my wife last night and watched a recording of Who Do You Think You Are featuring ex Coronation Street/current Our Girl actress Michelle Keegan. Something was off that I couldn’t put my finger on and then it clicked, with the exception of an Italian ancestor from the early 1700s iirc, the entire focus was on the females in her ancestral line. She talked of how her grandmother must have been devastated to be evacuated from Gibraltar with her 3 children, no mention of how her grandfather left behind alone without his wife and children on Gibraltar as it became a wartime fortress. Old Pathe style footage was shown off the Gib children and mothers coming to England with the jolly voiceover typical of the time. At which point she said that they were being treated like ( I can’t remember the word she used but it was either immigrants or foreigners). That was absolutely NOT the tone of the piece, these were Spanish speaking, which of course was unusual in 1940, but they were our people and we were happy to help out.
Then she went down her fathers lineage and it turned out that the registrar who recorded her great grandmothers birth was Emeline Pankhurst. “ I know that time , who is it?” She said. The following 3 minute guide to the suffragette movement kindly cleared that up. Predictably no mention of men’s suffrage at this point though, Google it. I genuinely think the bbc must have sent researchers out to see whose birth certificates Emeline Pankhurst signed in her capacity as registrar and then worked forwards until they found one celebrity they could film.
The programme ended with her proudly talking about how she was the woman she was due to all of the strong women in her line. So genetically and spiritually the male lineage of Michelle Keegan isn’t worth a damn eh? BBC diversity in action, don’t you just love it.
