G – foreigners are good for you. Haven’t you been watching the ‘ABC murders’ on the beeb? If you look closely you will detect the undercurrent of ‘nasty locals’, who are being horrible to foreigners. Good old Hercules Poirot (of whom I am a fan) is subjected to abuse by these nasties as well.
Look closely: there are posters of a fascist(?) lightning ‘Flash symbol’ all over walls and buildings, and lotsa people are wearing little lightening flash lapel badges. Take two of those together and you have the SS symbol.
This being a beeb production, it would not surprise me to find out that these are all followers of Oswald Moseley and associated with the ‘Far Right’. And, hey presto, we have jumped to the present.
Of course, all of this could just be in my imagination. But would you put a little political propaganda, safely tucked in under the narrative of the excellent Agatha Christie, past the producers at the beeb?

It’s certainly not your imagination! I was beginning to enjoy this little mini series, it’s been well made and lavishly produced, but the bloody propaganda keeps bludgeoning me.
I’m sitting there with my glass of Christmas cheer, lapping up a 1930’s piece of Agatha Christie nonsense, when suddenly I’m assaulted by nasty indigenous types hurling abuse and spitting at Hercule Poirot. This never happened to David Suchet!
These ignorant brutes even used the phrase “Why didn’t you stay and fight in your own country” a clear reference to the critisism of the hundreds of thousands of men pouring into Europe these days. It’s about as subtle as a kick in the knackers…and nearly as painful.
There’s also Hercule’s fascist sympathising neighbour who received some of his mail by mistake. What was the point of her wearing a fascist symbol other than another hammer blow of PC propaganda?
Dear God, why can’t they just turn out a well made piece of Yuletide entertainment without always having to wedge in crude political messages?

Is my understanding that the BBC is not allowed to advertise incorrect?

How is this not hate speech? Rather than merely expressing hatred of a certain group this is directly inciting criminality – more serious than nebulous ‘hate speech’ and probably not even protected under the First Amendment.
Why on Earth is May to blame? It was a tragedy. Is the narrative that conservatives should share all their money out so nobody has to live in cheap accommodation? Aired around 5-6pm today, one of a series of cameos about a (non religious) jewish man wondering whether to apply for German citizenship as he has a right to because of his ancestry, some of his antecedants having been killed by the Nazis.
The program follows him as he interviews people in Germany and Poland. One day he had a conversation with an AfD member whose contribution was tut tutted away.
I get that he wants to decide whether to do this before Brexit/Armageddon but I never heard any rationale for why he as a Jew thinks he might be safer in Germany than Britain given the rise in anti-semitism stated in the program.
The BBC bloke following him around seemed to steer the thrust of the arguments was to do with the rise of the ‘far right’.

There has always been something about Alice Roberts that I have disliked – some ruthless pollyanna-ish quality – I’ve never been able to put my finger on it or describe exactly what I’m feeling.
