Start the Year Open Thread 7th January 2019

The Far Left BBC continues Project Fear in the run up to exiting the EU. The Westminster Bubble will be in full panic mode as we edge nearer to 29 March . In the mean time the BBC continues to very selectively report events according to its political stance as opposed to its duty to inform the people who pay for it.

I was thinking about what approach to Brexit an unbiased broadcaster would take ?

Lies and truths by either side
    Spending by either side
    % representation by either side

Off the top of my head – but has the BBC done any of these ? Is there a media monitor which has done it?

I mean – it’s pretty easy to show pro remain bias in the BBC – just list the Question Time programmes where remainers outnumber brexiters .

It is easier to list the question time programmes where leavers outnumber remainers and I have the answer to that.

The 89 lorry drivers who bothered to turn up for the ‘Brexit Chaos’ parking experiment have branded the farce a waste of time and nine months too late.
Sadly they don’t seem to realise that they have achieved exactly what the government expected of them – a pathetic travesty illustrating the pointlessness of Brexit and another calculated humiliation, created to atone for the Empire, prove the benefits of the multicultural society and show how staying in the EU is the only plausible outcome.
Even the hoped-for 100+ truck total was not achieved, but when the reality runs into thousands per day, that only helped make the whole exercise the success Olly and Anna were looking for.

    BBC News today :

I wasn’t listening closely, but it went something like this : by throwing umpteen billions extra at the NHS and making improvements, 500,000 lives can be saved.

Now, my poor old brain starts to whir and clank because it doesn’t seem to compute the meaning of this. Isn’t this just a case of kicking the can down the road? As far as I know, everyone is going to die at some point…so, no matter how many millions are ‘saved’, ultimately they can’t. Then how will we cope with all the ‘saved’ lives when they finally can’t be ‘saved’?

I’m sure some brilliant minds here will explain the logic to me… 🙂

  8. Payne by name says:

I was talking to two different people today that gave an insight into some of the mindsets about Brexit.

The first stated that the problem was that because the result was such a close call, nothing could be agreed. I contested that it was a difference of over a million people but given that he was in a senior position to me, I couldn’t push the point further.

That point being that it didn’t matter what the margin was, there was a clear cut winner – Brexit – and to the victor should go the spoils. When a Gold medal is decided, they don’t keep banging on about the silver medalist because the result was close and they shouldn’t in this case.

Yes the vote was tight but there was a winner. There was no statement that a close margin would lead to a certain action, it was clear and simple. One decision, one person, one vote and Brexit won the vote.

There should be no ambiguity. An answer was sought from the British people and a clear answer was given.

The other was someone saying that they feared that they would struggle to sell their house in a year if there wasn’t a deal. I had to challenge him and say why would you think that? Your house isn’t in Europe or even close to the coast, you weren’t going to market it in France, so why do you think that all the people that currently need or want to buy a house, won’t need or want to next year?

His response was that he believed (or rather probably that he’d read or had it forced into him by the BBC) that the housing market would crash for no apparent reason because some EU autocrats and a couple of million people didn’t get their way.

This doom and gloom really is moronic boll—s that a worrying amount of people are just lapping up like mindless sheep.

Well I guess it had to happen, I wonder how many readers recognise this childrens entertainer?

    Ali_Bongo.jpg

He called himself the Shriek of Araby and had a song which went “My name is Ali Bongo and I come from Pongo, pong-tiddley-pongo land.”

He made his British TV debut on The Good Old Days in 1965

Some might remember him as a childrens entertainer, and I suspect that he is now on the BBC ‘black list’ if such thing is allowed there these days.

Today though and without a hint of irony radio 4 announces that the President of Gabon has been the subject of a coup attempt. He is quite unbelievably President Ali Bongo !

      From The Sun
Lee and his killer accidentally bumped into each other when they boarded the train travelling through Surrey to London Waterloo on Friday afternoon.
Sources say after the explosive row the suspect pulled out a knife and slashed Lee in the neck and body.
He said: “We know from witnesses the two men were involved in a verbal discussion.

“That lasted three to four minutes. It moved through one carriage from where they first boarded into another carriage, and that argument escalated to the unprovoked violent attack that sadly resulted in the death.”
Det Chief Insp Sam Blackburn from the Met Police said “nothing justified the extraordinary violence”.

Why don’t the police etc reveal what happened. I get that black bloke is a nutter, but those middle class Brits can be agresssive rude and entitled too, even though most haven’t had a fight since primary school.
”nothing justified….” is sloppy statement becuse, while true, it might be interpreted as he wasn’t entirely innocent but..

As far as I know Breitbart is still covering it. Though nothing would surprise me. These days the Quisling snakes who currently sit at the House of Commons would certainly do their utmost to prevent us knowing what is happening in France if they thought that there was any chance of us following suit.
I dont think we are at that point yet – it certainly wouldnt take much and probably if people actually realised the true scale of illegal immigration into this country (aided of course by the BBC and Government agencies ) I expect we would be pretty close.
So far they have done a pretty good job at divide and rule but at some point something will have to give – It will either be that or surrender.

Andy supplied the loaded language “CRASH OUT with a no deal”

(No mention it’s dodgy poll by campaigners & has been portrayed as ‘Labour Voters’ when it’s just 1,000 Lab members)

I suspect the beeb aren’t covering the gilets jaunes story for a number of reasons: a) it spoils their preferred narrative of France and the EU being all things chic and desirable, that we should stay in; all dolce vita, dolcelatte and Dolce & Gabbana.
    b) they probably can’t decide if they support it or not. Is it A Good Thing or a horrible Populist movement, like UKIP, Brexit, Visegrad, Trump etc? Are they Left (good) or Right (bad). They seem to be against Macron, whom the beeb idolise, so they’re probably Bad. Mustn’t give them the oxygen of publicity, or our own plebs might go getting ideas.

Anyway not posted on here for a while but I had a good laugh reading through the comments on Britian Ellects over the Yougov poll (That surveyed some 25,000 people) that puts the Tories in the lead with 6 points with a big drop in support for Labour, probably over Corbyn’ backfired ‘tried to please everyone’ Brexit stance.

It is worth to note that Yougov once gave Labour an 8 point lead back in 2017 and I bet the left where over the moon about that. Now they are begging Survation to give them a poll only Survation have actually give recentish polls with a 5 point lead to the Tories.

Shall we keep having polls until people get the score that they want?

Other than that the BBC have annoyed me by showing Ken Loach’s film called ‘I, Daniel Blake’ which is written by an on off Labour member who is mates with Corbyn. Perhaps the BBC though that an election is looming so this would be the last resort?

How about a film on grooming gangs? Oh, that would be too offensive! Just going to read the biased reports from Laura Kassenburg or whatever her name is and Mark D’Arcy but I expect the usual as we got last year. Politics is back in full swing so it will be back to one sided news stories, selected interviewees and interruptions on all who dares have a different view to the biased BBC.

We should feel sorry for the BBC, this will probably be their last year or at least we can hope.

The owner of the garage used for Banksy’s most recent artwork said he has been in “freefall” since it appeared and is struggling to cope with the responsibility.
The mural appeared on steelworker Ian Lewis’ wall in Port Talbot a week before Christmas.

Mr Lewis, 55, told BBC Wales he now needs help to find a long-term solution for it.
“It’s been very, very stressful and very surreal,” he said.

“It’s just all been so much for me. I’m actually managing an arts attraction by myself.
“There’s in excess of one thousand people going there a day, all hours, day and night. I just can’t cope with it now, to be honest with you.”
Mr Lewis said if it hadn’t have been for the intervention of actor Michael Sheen, who offered to help pay for security over Christmas, he would already have lost the art through vandalism or theft.
“I’ve been stressed, it’s dropped a bomb on me. I’d just like a bit of normality back into my life, like it used to be.”

        SG – precisely.

These days, for good or ill, a skill any politician needs is the ability to shrug off and press on in face of endless sniping and incitement from social media and antisocial media, or the MSM as it is often called.

However, there is a curious difference clearly evident. A Rees Mogg, Farage or Trump has to take it, day in and day out, incessantly, and not falter.

However, let a Soubry or Ocasio-Cortez get the nearest whiff of what is being doled out to their ideological opponents, the very same MSM targeting the latter suddenly circle the wagons around them and start firing wildly back on their behalves.

It would be tragically funny were it also not so hypocritically serious.

I think this is important . If people can’t get staff to look after their gardens what is the country coming to ? Next thing they’ll be saying is one won’t be able to get a coffee because barristers have gone away.

If I went to my GP and told them I wanted to be a dolphin, I’m pretty sure they’d (rightly) question my sanity, but what if they were under immense pressure to comply with my (unreasonable) demands? I could end up being injected with dolphin hormones, and undergoing all kinds of expensive, painful, life-threatening surgery, replacing my legs and feet with a tail, hands with flippers, fitting a bottlenose and a blowhole etc…

Some way down the line I could be splashing around in my Dolphinarium, pretending I’m a dolphin, when reality would inevitably sink home – even with all the wonders of modern medicine, man can not become dolphin, just as he can’t really become a woman (or vice versa) it’s just not possible. Then it would dawn on me, all I could ever be would be some kind of surgically deformed, hormonally messed up, constantly in need of medication/care/attention, freak of a man that looked something, vaguely, like a dolphin – never a real, proper dolphin.

Then what? Depression? Suicide? Desperate, but impossible, cravings to go back to ‘normal’? Strangely, all the things post-op transsexuals are supposed to undergo as a matter of course, and, rather depressingly, the end of a great many of them.

So, to come to the point… well, that’s it really, what is the point? All the campaigning, the anguish, the hassle, those much needed elsewhere NHS resources, none of it’s really for transsexuals is it? Is it healthy, to give unhealthy minds what they obsess about and crave, beyond all rational reason? To their own detriment and harm? And for what, so some spoilt, middle class, kidult progressives can feel they’ve ‘achieved’ ?

Would be transgender people need to be given psychiatric treatment, not told lies and fairy tales about how they can all be turned into princesses and unicorns with a wave of some magic wand that doesn’t exist. Our, taxpayer funded NHS, doesn’t need it either. Of all the lies spewed by the immoral BBC I think this has to be one of the most inhumane and exploitative, and when they gloat about inflicting it on teenage kids it really makes me angry.

      Big
Fair point . My sick sense of irony / humour makes me smile when I hear some BBC suppprted survey about kids and kidults being more screwed up than ever – self abuse – self harm – bulimia , substance abuse – depression – self – hate …. and look for an explanation?

‘Me’ ‘I want ‘ ‘I need ‘ ‘I deserve ‘ good old entitlement . And the social media world which I, thankfully , know little about – with the exception of this site .

Big – I think if you feel that you want to be a dolphin – good luck – but now way should the taxpayer pick up the tab. The NHS should concentrate on illnesses and making people well – and sorry – but that includes areas like fertility treatment and liver transplants for boozers – and obesity .

Exactly Fed! NHS ‘free’ for every (British) citizen, but only for treating vital, and non self-inflicted diseases and injuries – okay, not always easy to define what is ‘sefl-inflicted’, but I’m pretty sure sex changes are entirely optional, entirely non-vital, and entirely what the NHS definitely wasn’t set up to provide.

….and I don’t really want to be a dolphin, honest… my point is there needs to be a clear divide between reality ‘you are what you are, make the most of it’ and fantasy/day dreams ‘anyone who wants to can be a princess/unicorn/footballer/dolphin etc…’. Kids (in particular) can easily be led to believe something they want to be true is possible, when it really, honestly isn’t, we seem to live in a world of ‘kidults’ who still think like 5 year olds when they’re 35, and our national broadcaster shouldn’t be peddling these kinds of dangerous lies (and shouting ‘transphobe’ at anyone who dares to disagree!).

        Sorry, ranting a bit there…

“Men have been getting jobs because they were men for centuries”, says Fiona Bruce in that article. That’s a pretty stupid remark. There was a clear division of labour between the sexes for most of human history. Men did not secure jobs as soldiers, miners, farm labourers, etc. – you know, all the unglamorous but essential jobs that are a million times dirtier, harder and more dangerous than TV presenting work – simply because they were men. It’s only in recent decades that men and women have generally been competing for the same jobs. And I would guess that in recent years there have been more cases of women getting a job purely because they were women than men landing a job over a woman just because they were men. Idiot. I thought she was smarter than this. But she’s clearly a Beeboid through and through. Full of hot air about fair and equal pay. This QT gig is only one of four BBC jobs that she does, apparently. So she’s getting paid £180,000 for a part-time job!

    3) More BME lady’s commentating on sport.
    4) Programmes mocking the UK and it’s democracy.

Could the jumping pages of Biasedbbcorg be caused by using Google fonts?

I have seen similar effects elsewhere. I suspect the browser interprets the requested page using its best-fit ‘local’ font while putting in a request to Google for font data. When that eventually arrives the page is re-written but is now a different size so it ‘jumps’. Because the browser now ‘knows’ the font any ‘on page’ navigation or scrolling works as expected and the page no longer ‘jumps’.

Toady this morning had Ed Milliband on demanding more houses to be built for social housing. Up until 1997 the population of the UK was falling. After the election of the Labour government in that year we have had uncontrolled Muslim mass immigration from africa and Asia. Besides destroying the social cohesion in the areas that they live, these ‘new Britons’ are responsible for the strain on the NHS and school places; a huge rise in murder, violent crime and sexual assualt resulting in the enormous rise in the prison population. As a result of their primitive cultural and religious beliefs, the immigrants also produce large families which results in the demand for more housing.
But you already know that Milliband, don’t you and the Labour Party has been aided and abetted by successive governments (not to mention the BBC) since 1997. Why it’s almost as if it is a deliberate policy by the French, UK and German governments to encourage this situation to destabilize european societies in order for the political elites to have more power and control.
