Ah but, if the left believe all Leave voters are racist bigots, then why would they want a Muslim prime minister to go up against Farage? (Aside from the fact that Islam/Muslim is not a race).
“Brexit: MPs reject Labour plan for no-deal vote”
“Tory Remain supporter and former Attorney General Dominic Grieve said the motion was the “last sensible opportunity” to stop no deal.”
Question ……………………
Dominic Grieve : Motivation – patriotism or ulterior motive?
Boris doesn’t want no deal.
I found his speech yesterday lack lustre and quite uninspiring.
I genuinely believe his heart is not in it.
The only way to secure Brexit, in my opinion, is to keep voting for Nigel.
David ” Full of Hatred ” Lammy banging his keyboard again..
Big questions must now be asked over whether the Brexit Party accepted or is accepting illegal donations. Once again, our democracy is under threat. The Electoral Commission should now deepen its investigation and we must give regulators the teeth to punish any law-breaking. https://t.co/rUBCtzFhwE
Once again our Democracy is under threat !!!! What actual world does this race baiting idiot live in. Its actually YOU David that is openly thwarting democracy you clown. Oh and fraud …. PETERBOROUGH !!
And also tweets …
Jacob Rees-Mogg defends Boris Johnson insulting Muslim women because "politicians musn't be bland and boring and dull. They must say things that cut through to voters".
Doob
Couldn’t agree more..David Lammy – has he ever done or said anything positive or useful?
And as for the Muslim comment – it is a fact , they do look like postboxes…but on the BBC you can say anything and just say it was a joke – so if I say ‘I would like to murder a female MP – but that is just my fantasy ‘ that would be okay then..of course it wouldn’t
…but to throw acid at politicians is okay? And to physically abuse, throw milkshake and scream at Trump supporter doesn’t gain any traction on BBC, but to shout traitor/nazi at female MP means BBC fury and arrested
Hypocrisy and double standards of left liberals make my blood boil too
I wonder what the reporting would be if the head line, instead of “Brexit Party ‘at high risk’ of accepting illegal donations, says Electoral Commission” was ‘Labour Party ‘at high risk’ of accepting illegal postal votes, says Electoral Commission’.
I complained to the Electoral Commision on Monday about the large amount of postal votes in the Peterborough election. They replied yesterday with a snotty attitude, the sort of reply you get from the BBC . The parting shot from them was if you still have a problem with this issue get in touch with Peterborough.
No surprise, The Labour Party Trough, The QANGO trough, The Public Sector trough (of which the BBC is a part), The Charity trough.
Every few weeks some of them get their snouts out of the trough.
Then they play the trough version of musical chairs.
Two differences from the version normally played a) Everyone gets a huge pay rise with their new chair, b) there are six more chairs than used in the previous game, with new troughers filling them.
Then snouts back in the trough.
“It was JUST A JOKE!!”
I seem to remember Sargon saying something similar when questioned about his gag about not raping Jess Phillips.
The BBC were all over this story at the time. I remember an interview he gave to Victoria Derbyshire who sat there sour faced and dripping with moral outrage. She clearly didn’t find his remarks amusing.
However, an ugly fat lefty can suggest throwing acid in a politicians face and we’re all supposed to fall over laughing.
Double standards at The Beeb?
Surely not…
‘Morrisons and Amazon expand same day deliveries.”
This is churnalism: Beeb staff will have been sent a press release from marketing companies and repackaged it as news. Do we really need our national broadcaster to run adverts for companies?
Do they have no shame? 20,000 staff and an annual income of £5billion yet this is one of their lead stories?
A few days ago someone commenting on here noticed how few BBC employees were sat in their seats as the TV news began.
This morning nearly every seat bar a few were fully occupied.
Playing truant while boss isn’t looking?
Whatever you BBC employees do while the cat is away your boss can check the very good in house CCTV images . I would come in earlier tomorrow if I were you. Oh, except for the high earners..
BBC5Live phone in is talking about Jo Brand’s ‘joke’ yesterday. I managed the first 20 mins and most of the conversation so far has been the usual crap about Nigel Farage. Good old Kevin McGuire has said his piece (although he did think Brand has stepped over the line). Only the beeb could defend Jo Brand and make it about Farage – and just as I turned off, on came that bloke from the stay in the EU campaign! How do they think they can get away with it!
And I also learned the programme was recorded. So an editor and a producer listened to that and thought it was suitable??? I’d say hang your heads in shame, but of course they know no shame.
I don’t listen to much radio, but having seen your list of guests Rob, that included Kevin McGuire (editor of sorts at the d/mirror), I’m wondering when does this guy do any actual work at the offices of the Mirror ? He seems to be a permanent talking head on Sky/ITV/BBC or radio for any debate/press review going.
The BBC presenters thought that the Farage milk shaking was hilarious and Ms Brand thought throwing acid over someone they hated was also hilarious.
So why is the BBC in-house comedian AND just as important why wasn’t those BBC TV news presenters not reprimanded for laughing at Mr Farage being assaulted?
Can you imagine those same BBC idiots laughing today at a real comedian ? e.g. Bernard Manning ? er, no. I cant remember him ever having suggesting throwing battery acid at anyone. No, they would be the first to accuse him of all things ‘unacceptable’ every time he opened his mouth.
Brissles,
Big Bad Bernard on OTT, the late night version of Tiswas. He has a totally un-PC dig at Sir Lenworth Henry. Both Henry and Chris Tarrant deem it necessary to show their disapproval by covering their faces. This is 1982 – early virtue signalling?
(FedUp2 – is it OK to link this? Contains material likely to offend.)
Actually, I feel wracked with guilt. All this fuss and to-do about Jo Brand’s little quip and we appear to have overlooked – callously, I might add – the painful fact that Ms Brand evidently speaks from experience.
The attack must have taken place some time ago and the liquid involved fortunately not too harshly corrosive, but it has nevertheless left its mark. Under the circumstances I feel we can only wish Jo a heartfelt ‘Get well soon!’
This is not unlike what a lady guest said on This Week. They started with and spent 2/3 of their answer attacking Farage before criticising the humiliation by Sky employee.

“The tail wags the dog.”
Dock the tail, cut off its blood supply (c£4.7 billion PA), watch the tail curl up and die.
Video the process, so we can all re-enjoy the death at will.
Killing the, far left, treasonous, BBC must be high on the Brexit Party Swamp Draining legislation.
When completed it will be one the best tasks ever performed in the UK.
The beeb are probably thinking ahead with Jo Brand. They have probably got her booked and paid in advance for all the crap quizzes and topical shows we don’t watch. They would have to find some other SJW wally or revive Ben Elton to take her place and deprive the higher ups of their Champagne budget.
Who will ever forget her expertise on ‘Bake Off’ and the ‘Countryfile Calender’?
(They didn’t even have the excuse of ‘comedy’. The ‘Wandsworth Whine’ rather grates on the ‘beyond the M25’ ear.)
I think someone has been truthful on ‘wiki’: “Josephine Grace Brand (born 23 July 1957)[1] is an obese, unfunny English comedian, writer, presenter and actress”
The ten traiterous Tory MPs who last night voted with the Labour party because they;d rather Jeremy Corbyn was in power, and yet the useless inept cowards at central office doesn’t want them deselected (one is Grieve), nor will they remove the whip from them.

Once a year the coal miners hold the Durham Miners Gala. Long ago proud miners marched with banners behind the brass bands representing each colliery. It was an impressive ocasion.
This year it continues and among the leading speakers to recall the pride and passion of a once great industry includes the following. Hopefully Jon Snow will be looking at the white faces in the crowd.
Mike Graham (Talk Radio) inviting calls to discuss Jo Brand’s so called “joke”.
A caller has just commented that Jo used to be a psychiatric nurse and therefore ought to know full well that some people with mental health issues will be open to suggestion.
Dyst,
I remember the laugh along reaction not to long ago when Farage was ‘shaked’. How the good and righteous laughed at such an innocent wheeze. And how it was such a laugh, others, emboldened, have carried on with the ‘joke’ ever since, ‘shaking’ a plenty. Now stakes have been upped, but it’s still a wheeze and a jolly. Stand well back and prepare to ‘laugh’ Beeb.
Now I understand where I went wrong several years ago when my car broke down. Never having been technically minded when it comes to cars, I phoned the AA and was told that my battery was probably dead – perhaps it had dried out. I walked to a nearby McDonald’s and bought a couple of strawberry milkshakes and poured them into the top of the battery (I thought I’d heard this tip on Top Gear), but it made no difference whatsoever. Perhaps I should have used banana? I couldn’t understand the howls of laughter from the mechanic when I told him what I had done.
Now I understand that battery acid and milkshakes are not the same thing after all. It seems to be a common mistake.
I’m not going to tell you what I’ve been putting in the screenwash.
Helen, next time you are at the supermarket it’s a halved potato wiped over the windscreen when the wipers fail and banana, preferably somewhat aged – and maybe with a banana milkshake as you are fond of milkshakes, I can tell – but in the gearbox when it is low on oil. Old Rally Service Team tricks, so I’m told. 😉
Maybe what you put in the screenwash would have done better in the battery …. well, … it contains some acid …. maybe not the ‘whole sulphuric nine yards’, if you get my opposite lock sort of drift, maybe not SULPHuric unless you had an egg or two for your tea but alkaline it aint. 🙂
Nah – having made a fool of myself I’m leaving such things to my Other Half in future. He has a diesel VW and runs it on chip oil from the deep fat fryer. He’s from Yorkshire so he lives on chips and the economy, not to mention the avoidance of Fuel Excise Duty, appeals to him.
He still has to find a use for mushy peas though. I suggested that they might decorate Jo Brand’s face rather well.
Doob,
As a protem Conservative Party member I can’t wait to have my two-pennyworth final vote. But should I? It appears that the de-selection of our Dominic Grieve voted for by local members is being overruled by central office. So why should I run the risk (or even effort) to vote?
If the events over the last few years is not enough to demonstrate that so-called, “democracy” is an absolute fiction, I really don’t knwo what is.
I’m surprised Sir Lenny didn’t refuse the honour on the grounds of tokenism . The racial tribe thing he expounds shows his own racism .
Metrocracy and colour or gender don’t really go together
At the moment the BBC is lamenting that a woman is no longer in the Tory election thing – we’ve just suffered 3 years of having a trail tour in charge of the country – did it matter that she was a white female ? No .
apropos nothing – John major thinks closing parliament until the 32nd of October is unconstitutional – when it isn’t .
I think it would be great – all those MPs – living in tents on college green outside the Palace of Westminster – accompanied by the freaks shouting ‘no brexit ‘ around the clock .
And lastly
I dearly hope Alex Boris Johnsonivich does not talk to the Press , no interviews , nothing . There is nothing to gain . And it’s only about getting away from the ReichEU on 32 October . Nothing else matters …
On BBC TV news this-aff, was a Tory MP (can’t remember his name) talking to some female BBC reporter and just as they begin to talk in the background one could clearly hear some loud mouth chanting: Stop Brexit, Stop Brexit.
Call me stupid, but I thought – funny?
Its as if the BBC team deliberately waited for this gentleman to get closer to the Mic then as the Tory MP opened his mouth – Stop Brexit, stop Brexit …Really loud.
It sounded like the voice of that remain saint who we see every day outside parliament.
Clearly, BBC HQ head quarters HQ gave this guy a ring telling him to get round to such and such a place… there you will find one of our reporters waiting for you; don’t worry though, we will ask the reporter to wait until you arrive before we ask the questions.
Then: Stop Brexit, stop Brexit very loud.
We’ve missed these BBC tricks afore but not any longer.
This guy was just over the left hand side of the Tory MP. Just feet away.
“”Theresa May calls on BBC to explain why Jo Brand battery acid joke was broadcast””
“”Now the prime minister has stepped into the row, with her spokesman saying: “The prime minister has consistently said politicians should be able to campaign without harassment, intimidation and abuse.””
“”It is for the BBC to explain why it was appropriate content to broadcast.””
Not BBC but from Oxford Union Debating Society a month ago — “This House Believes That Justice Has Been Done: Shamima Begum Head-to-Head” with Begum’s greasy apologist lawyer Mohammed Akunjee arguing against the propostion.
According to EU counter-terror figures from 2017, up to 25,000 Islamist extremists who could pose a threat are in the UK. Sadiq Khan was forced to admit the same year that hundreds of jihadists were not being tracked upon their return from Syria.
But here’s Akunjee being given a platform at Oxford University to laugh at the reality of the situation:
“The argument about her being a threat to the UK is interesting. We have an MI5, an MI6 & we have one of the most secure security apparatus there is. The idea that our mature security service cannot deal with a 19yr old girl is laughable” says @mohammedakunjee for the Opposition.
If the Brexiteers in parliament actually want to leave, then why aren’t they talking about the ongoing Robin Tilbrook case and backing the view that we have already left?
If Nigel Farage’s ultimate goal is to get out of the EU, why isn’t he shouting about it?
If Julia Hartley Brewer (Talk Radio) is a true Brexiteer, why isn’t she shouting about it?
Dystopian, there can be times when it is wise to go quiet on something because to do otherwise might stir up some really clever opposition. It is why I’m sort of comforted every time the Beeb roll Al Campbell and Andyosinuous (before his sudden Damascene conversion to Brexit) and Blair and Cable onto Radio4 to say a ‘Horrocks’ to Brexit, because Brexiteers can imagine a digital counter racking up more and more decent, fair-minded Brits converted from Remain to their Brexit cause.
Good question indeed. Something is starting to make sense. For these people, leaving is something to happen in the future. And with UKIP out of the way they are controlling the Brexit train.
G.W.F., I was late to TWatO, turning on the radio @1.15pm approx but someone was talking about Brexit and the Tory leadership race. It sounded a bit like Steve Baker MP but don’t think it was. Didn’t catch the name. Think the Montacutie was quite keen to get him off air.
This contributor was very blunt. IIRC but paraphrasing, he said the bulk of Parliament is pro-Remain. Probably most of the Tory leadership candidates are either inclined that way or are committed to bodging Brexit into remaining in the EU, both in order to keep Party colleagues on-side. (may have got that bit wrong but listen again if you want to check.) They think by constantly delaying the departure date remaining in the EU may sort of just happen, that we (the public) will become more comfortable with the idea in time.
Another thought hit me – these Brexiteers have all dropped discussion of immigration, which was widely supported when UKIP, led by Farage, was engaged in the referendum debate.
G.W.F., you are right and Conservative Woman has a writer, Kathy Gyngell, who has also picked up on that. The BBC post-Referendum on R4 were keen to aid any Remainer who would come on and state that Brexit voters were racist (Vince, for example) xenophobic (Vince, again, for example) and against immigration. (Yet more Vince, again, oh joy.)
Conservative Party policy is to have quite widespread immigration (can’t think why with our UK graduates unable to find suitable jobs, 1.3 million unemployed and attempts to reduce the Benefits part of the UK Budget foundering somewhat) but I think the leadership candidates are wise as to how the MSM will now pick up on any reference to it.
It does, of course, also link any candidate back to Theresa May’s famous words of the past. Another good reason to stay off the subject?
“”Stars including Jeremy Paxman and Michael Palin join Ben Fogle in blasting the decision to axe BBC-funded free TV licences for 3.7m over-75s as charity’s petition tops 410,000″”
Uptostuff and theleftwilleatitsself I just want to say thank you for the useful information you posted on start the week. Just read your reply to my post about giving up my TV licence. Thank you both.
cromwell, you are very welcome. Congratulations on taking that step. This year I’m £2000+ better off (even at the rate in force in 2005) and I wish you similar in time.
Perhaps we ought to have a side bar on the BiasedBBC Home Page with a quick clicky to reach advice on going Legally Licence Free? (Un)stuffing the BBC 😉 you could say, coffers-wise.
Given a BBC ‘explanation’ on anything ends up as ‘we got it about right’, and she has the backbone of a jellyfish, I am guessing about as much as usual.
Apparently it must be the first time in a car for her as she’s kinda feeling for the handle on car door a yard or so in mid air? And she’s going in the wrong direction?
What a C**tservative, I thought.
Then I saw in the comments below, a suggestion which might give Grieve, Starmer (especially), Cable and Co, Coronary Infarctions.
So I am sharing it with my friends on BBBC.
“From John Andrews
Proroguing Parliament until 31st October will mean months of inactivity and lots of possible pitfalls.
It would be quicker and more certain for the new PM to instruct the Government’s lawyers to cease defending
the Robin Tilbrook case.
They are likely to lose it anyway, as the wording of Article 50.3 does not allow for multiple contingent exit dates
or repeated postponements. May and the EU Council exceeded the authority that Article 50.3 gives them to extend the two year period.
Then we will have been out since 29th March. We can even ask the EU for the money we’ve paid them since then.”
DV said problem is BBC’s double standard
of taking £3.8bn and then pushing agenda like banning It Ain’t Half Hot Mum cos it says that popular historical comedy was racist
but then saying Jo Brand can be offensive cos its all about context.
Tom Walker (Jonathan Pye) was more like
‘ ..Jo Brand was just doing free speech, its silly that PM is commenting’
He didn’t push back against BBC
First’ thing he said was ..”this is the first time I have heard the Jo Brand clip”
..so to me he shouldn’t have been on.
He was not able to put his last point ..got cut off
Carole Thatcher – who got banned for a private conversation with….Jo Brand (who didn’t respect Carole’s right to free speech), Andy Gray, Danny Baker. And many more that I can’t bring to mind who were banned for exercising free speech and mostly in private.
Beth Rigby. Sky News had her doing adverts for them a year or so ago. It featured her picking up a cup of coffee, fresh from the ‘ Barista’, in a claw like manner over the top of the cup. The cup had a handle, but she ignored that. How she proposed to drink through her hand, I had no idea. Part of the Armed Forces Officer selection procedure involved being observed during dinner, such as the correct use of a knife and fork, not slurping the soup, etc, etc. Beth Rigby would have not lasted the pre dinner drinks.
As an aside, just seen Rory Stewart, demanding, demanding I say, that Boris does what he tells him to do. Scruffy Urchin, went to Eton, and spent a few months on a SSLC in the Black Watch. Looks like a soup slurper to me, who rests his elbows on the table.
Taffman
I think I read that this strange looking bloke has admitted to opium use. I don’t remember if he claimed it was a one-off like Bill Clinton’s spliff that he never inhaled.
Anyway back to Rory. Many years ago (for my sins) I used to interview people for the dole. Many a time I’d hear a sorry tale from the local smackheads as to why they’d made no appreciable effort to find a job in the previous fortnight.
You can tell these poor souls by their dead eyes, twitchy manner and the fact they have aged well beyond their years. Their faces are deeply lined and have a deathly pallor.
If odd-bod Rory was in front of me now, signing-on, I’d have to advise him it was a bit beyond his capabilities to lead a political party, and should perhaps start out with some voluntary work in a charity shop, and then work his way up from there.
What a terrible week it has been for our beloved state broadcaster. ????
First off the over 75’s license fee row, then Jo Brand and the acid ‘joke’ and now I see the Stacey Snowflake comic relief debacle still hasn’t gone away.
My local shop is running out of popcorn ???? and there are still a few days left.
Oh and could someone please tell me how in God’s name Al beeb could put a positive spin on a women’s world cup game that ended 13-0? ???? Ten goals in one half ????
Theleft,
You can add some more dismal MSM news to that
9%yoy fall in c4 news viewing figures ( because of Brexit ) ; C4 staff moaning about having to move out of London to Leeds ….. getting better …
And
The independent and the London evening news losing a defamation case in the House of Lords – which if the damages are substantial enough might kill both off . Drain it .
As Trump at last gives BBC N. America a lifeline to ‘report’ upon via twitter as they dare not mention ‘trouble at t’mill’, the rest of the BBC excels elsewhere as only the BBC knows how…
Wonderful moment on R2 Jeremy whine show today.
Some bloke hijacked a question to mention the Jo. Brand incident.
You could feel Jeremy cringing about the fact this guy brought up the subject and he cut him off almost straight away, but the damage was done… brilliant.
Vine said something like
‘we are getting a lot of of people saying we are doing a *conspiracy* not to cover Jo Brand
.. but we have to do this Boris Johnson coverage today cos its in the news, perhaps we will cover it another time’
Having looked at S1 1 of the malicious Communications Act – now that the PM has asked the BBC for an explanation – it looks like there is a case to answer by both Ms Brand and the NBC with regard to using acid instead of milkshake .
I can’t find a satire defence or humour defence so it appears that the police , CPS and judge have a job on their hands .
Meanwhile other former BBC employees remain asked for putting a picture of 2 people with a monkey chimp ape or whatever on the inter web .
Jo Brand’s 2010 caustic joke
‘They say the quickest way to MAN’s heart is through his stomach,
….. I say it’s through his ribs with a bread knife.’
… is that mysandrist ?
It’s free speech its satire, just like he sneer at Farage
I think neither break the law.
However if a fragile mind keeps hearing the one sided Radio4 shows laughing at milkshaking , that person might be led to milkshaking a righty themselves.
Multiple people went to punch Tommy in the street
.. they were driven to by the febrile atmosphere that libmob land have created against him.
These lefty twats started all this crap by reporting people to the police for saying something they didn’t like – so I say let’s play them at their own game. Let’s see how they like that, eh :0)

ITV Calendar local news had a 5 minute for their Jo-Cox Corporation prog at 7:30pm
That’s why her sister Kim Leadbetter is all over the place
She also did Loose Women earlier.
..If it wasn’t for Jo Brand it would be full on against Brexit people like F/T/S Farage, Tommy Sargon
‘The way we talk to each other seems so vicious and toxic’
: Jo Cox’s sister on UK becoming angrier since MP’s murder.
is Britain even angrier and more divided than three years ago?
'We have more in common than that which divides us.'
Three years since MP Jo Cox was murdered, her sister Kim Leadbeater joins us on #LooseWomen to discuss if we are angrier & more divided as a country than ever. pic.twitter.com/jnNZme1EmX
The lefty twats have brought all this present anger/toxicity/hatred about by their refusal to accept a democratic decision. So don’t go on television bleating on about blah, blah, blah ????
Kim & ITV asks “‘The way we talk to each other seems so vicious and toxic’ : Jo Cox’s sister on UK becoming angrier since MP’s murder. Is Britain even angrier and more divided than three years ago? ”
I think the answer is no, if anything I think the opposite is true. I think the country is becoming more quietly determined and is coalescing around the decision and desire to be out of and away from the EU as soon as possible. Of course that doesn’t suit the MSM so they persist with this sort of propaganda.
The danger is that the 18-35y.o.s who voted Remain in 2016 are now 21-38y.o.s and have moved on in career and apathy or political maturity or realistic view of the world and might not be such enthusiastic Remainers, if at all.
It came up a couple of times on Countdown, just like with Barry on Eggheads. If she’s Jewish and well known in the current atmosphere she will almost definitely have been subject to anti-semitism.
I wholeheartedly agree that she is easy on the eye though.
“The danger is that the 18-35y.o.s who voted Remain in 2016 are now 21-38y.o.s and have moved on in career and apathy or political maturity”
Fully agree with you.
One of my Nephews used to be a foaming at the mouth radical lefty some 3 yrs ago but over the last 3 years his views and also his dads views have completely changed especially after noticing how Bias the BBC lie machine has/is now behaving. Today both are staunch conservatives and treat with suspicion everything coming out of The EU and the namby-pambies in the UK MSM/House of commons.
Jo Brand is a foul individual and has been for a long long time, however she did what people on the right appear incapable of doing – refusing to apologise.
We all know the Tories are spineless cockroaches, and even when the remarks Brand made are open season they’re still far too cowardly to condemn her, they are utterly useless.
We need far more people on the right to stand up to the Fascist left as cowardly Johnson should have been about his mildly critical coments about extremist Islam.
The laughter is not canned, it is curated
..they don’t play is straight
eg multiple takes, ridiculous warmups etc.
that’s why the audience sound hysterical.
I think you will find that all MPs claim their multiple TV licence fees back from the taxpayer – home – second home – office – Second Office . Why pay for anything when you can get the taxpayer to pick up the tab?
All those hard working supporters of democracy will be claiming expenses for the alt parliament with Rory Stewart as the new Bercow
It’s the Mirror
when is it dated ?
… December 2018
So it’s being used now as #WhatAboutery
AFAIK you get a job as the culture minister,
and your accountant says “you need to watch TV, so I’ll add it to expenses to claim off tax”
..Lots of business people are doing the same e.g. journos, and TV reviewers etc.
An MP who didn’t claim this expense would have £150 less to donate back to his political party etc.
I have found evidence of a couple of past Labour MPs doing it , I suspect more do.
From the link ‘A citizen’s assembly would bring together people from all walks of life, helping them to bridge divides and find common ground to develop recommendations that can command public support.’
Recommendation isn’t quite control. Even Labour aren’t so stupid as to vote themselves out of power.
NG, so they are suggesting an alternative Parliament.
Something that some of us are recommending as an alternative to the present over-bloated House of Lords. A Citizens (more correctly, Subjects) Assembly would not then threaten the standing of the HoC. The only power it would have would be to say of anything passed in the HoC ‘We think this unwise or unacceptable, please re-visit it.’
It could suggest things for legislation or action but that would be taken in the Commons, maintaining that Chamber’s superiority.
How would the subjects (needed to populate an assembly) be chosen? Whilst the power to slow the HoC is not at the same level as the current revising legislature; it is still power. The wider population would be entitled to a Benn test and ask ‘how can I get rid of you’?
Tap, I could care less about what Brand said but it is the BBC trying to defend her that is the real crime. Bit like Deryshire’s excuse that ‘only men usually say that’ or Nixon where it was the cover up that got him!
“Tonight” now on ITV. “Angry Britain. Beyond repair?”
Saint Jo Cox tribute.
“The rise of extremism” blah blah blah.
They’re all as bad. BBC, ITV, SKY.
All the same agenda.
I wonder if they will be talking about leftist extremism, milk shaking and incitement to throw battery acid at politicians?
Unbelievably they are referring to Carl Benjamin and his refusal to apologise for saying he WOULDNT rape someone.
All this is, is propaganda designed to vilify the so called “far right”, show Muslims as victims and make out that anyone who wants Brexit is a waycist.
Dyst
If only politicians of whom the MSM disapprove would adopt this approach more often and go for full controlled hostility instead of standing there and taking it .
Or – do a Boris and not talk directly to them at all – or bi pass them onto twitter like the master – President Donald Trump
This woman is a joke who is after a ‘gotcha’ moment in nearly every political interview. Maybe C4 should look closer to home as to why, as Fedup informs me, their ratings are dropping 9.9% year on year ????

And as for the Muslim comment – it is a fact , they do look like postboxes…but on the BBC you can say anything and just say it was a joke – so if I say ‘I would like to murder a female MP – but that is just my fantasy ‘ that would be okay then..of course it wouldn’t
…but to throw acid at politicians is okay? And to physically abuse, throw milkshake and scream at Trump supporter doesn’t gain any traction on BBC, but to shout traitor/nazi at female MP means BBC fury and arrested

I complained to the Electoral Commision on Monday about the large amount of postal votes in the Peterborough election. They replied yesterday with a snotty attitude, the sort of reply you get from the BBC . The parting shot from them was if you still have a problem with this issue get in touch with Peterborough.

IIRC “the Electoral Commision” seem to care more about turnout than voter integrity?
No wonder they ‘do an OFCOM’ in response to any queries about inflated postal votes for one party etc.
Peterborough should be investigated by someone more interested in drilling down to the truth.

I agree.

The attack must have taken place some time ago and the liquid involved fortunately not too harshly corrosive, but it has nevertheless left its mark. Under the circumstances I feel we can only wish Jo a heartfelt ‘Get well soon!’

Drain it .

With boosters like Sean blowing BS up their orifices, the BBC should stay nicely complacent.

I’d thought State Broadcaster was the news? BJ has another couple of rounds to go with MPs before the membership gets a go.
Presumably even Brand isn’t stupid enough to dream acid another politician? Even Loose Women found time to discuss this ‘burning’ issue.

Baker’s monkey tweet didn’t break any law yet he was sacked on the spot.

That’s the whole point the double standard
plus one sided media creates people who are prepared to punch at Tommy and milkshake the right.

Al Beeb don’t do comedy, therefore all the laughter is canned.

..they don’t play is straight
eg multiple takes, ridiculous warmups etc.
that’s why the audience sound hysterical.

Up2snuff imo the House of Lords should be closed.
How would the subjects (needed to populate an assembly) be chosen? Whilst the power to slow the HoC is not at the same level as the current revising legislature; it is still power. The wider population would be entitled to a Benn test and ask ‘how can I get rid of you’?

If I could add my opinion on the Jo Brand acid debate.
I have no problem with what she said.
What I have a problem with is the double standards.
Make a JOKE about grenfell and you’re in front of the court.
Make a JOKE about teaching a dog to do a nazi salute and you’re in front of the court.
Carl Benjamin had trial by the bbc and Victoria Derbyshire because he made a JOKE.
As someone once said ‘you’ve sown the wind now reap the whirlwind’.
My message to the bbc is this;
Please carry on, we’ve got your number and our numbers are growing.

Tap, I could care less about what Brand said but it is the BBC trying to defend her that is the real crime. Bit like Deryshire’s excuse that ‘only men usually say that’ or Nixon where it was the cover up that got him!
