Are the Extinction Rebellion loons aware what will happen to this country if their demands are met and we go to zero carbon? All UK airports will have to close, all non-electric cars and other vehicles will be scrapped, gas boilers in millions of homes will need replacing, over half the country’s rail network (as it is non-electrified and operated by diesel trains) will close, conventional power stations will be shut down, and all building of new homes, schools, hospitals etc will be stopped (because of cement *). Going to zero carbon will destroy this country.
* From Wikipedia: “If the cement industry were a country, it would be the third largest carbon dioxide emitter in the world with up to 2.8bn tonnes, surpassed only by China and the US.”

The BBC’s Nick Beake is leaving after 15 years at the broadcaster to join NBC News as international correspondent. He will be based in London but travel extensively for its global channel that launches in the summer. Nick is currently an Asia correspondent for BBC News, and covered the Coronavirus outbreak, Hong Kong protests and Rohingya crisis.
Maybe he can interview Nick Robbo at home…. ‘in isolation’?
Well, yes, I was charmed by the BBC picture of that little tudor-style cottage surrounded by flood waters – what better pictorial metaphor for little England stuck in the past, friendless, isolated and unprepared for the climate…? Photo journalism prize material if ever I saw it.
But then again, do we smell a rat…? Who in their right mind leaves that line of washing out in the garden as the weather turns so very rainy?
I think the water might be 6 inches above the doorstep
but not much more cos how otherwise did they put the things on the washing line anyway
#PicturesDeceive
digg – I should have thought that ‘Guardian’ and perversion rolls as easily from the tongue as ‘bbc’ and perversion?
‘Liberal’, in some minds, means you are trendy and free and have no boundaries. Stuff what everyone else thinks or feels.
I guess we are witnessing the children of the 60’s free-love and drugs society growing up and thinking this is normal behaviour for humans.
I would have thought that promoting sex ed “games” for children would fall under the category of grooming by the teachers or do I live in a parallel universe?
The Thunderer’s Editor obviously inhabits the same media bubble and earnings level as the BBC Execs & ‘top’ presenters. Helping the highest earners invest their dosh, The Thunderer has probably not chosen the best cover illustration for their property ‘pullout’ at the present time – see top left.
Is it my imagination, or are about 90% of Laurene Laverne’s guests on Desert Island Discs female?
This morning we have Melanie C. (Having had zero interest in the Spice Girls when they were ‘big’, I may have got my spelling wrong.)
Friday at 9.00, the guest is almost inevitably a lady, and when it’s not, I suspect it will be a black male or someone who is ‘Trans’.
I dare say a white male will have popped up somewhere, but I don’t catch all of the DIDs. Then again, I MUST have it wrong, as our public broadcaster is famously impartial about all things, and will have stuck scrupulously to a 50-50 guest list.
And to be fair to our public broadcaster, they’re pretty close to their target of presenting Britain as 50% white, 50% non, so I should have tempered my comment on Desert Island discs!
fakenewswatcher- Perhaps you did not know the BBC has decided to become a media outlet just for women. It will take time but it is
happening. 80% of the news presenters on BBC TV are women
and half of these are of ethnic heritage.
But surely fakenewswatcher we should treasure this positive discrimination and diversity. Haven’t the BBC been successful
in educating you into this train of thought? Do you really want
to hear about men’s football when the women are playing cricket.
I just can’t wait, because I have been educated when the
BBC get rid of Gary Lineker and one of the BBC’S plethora of
women sports reporters is presenting Netball ” Match of the Day”
Foscari – I have noticed all this, but I (being as aged and reactionary as I am) do not treasure the “discrimination and diversity”. I have noticed all the wimmins footie and other “blessings” bestowed on us in sport. But I like my sport the way it used to be, before the PC ‘equality’ brigade got its hands on our sport broadcasts to impose their political prejudices and turn sport into a propaganda vehicle.
Perhaps, at some stage, beeb will be consistent and reduce the licence fee for men, while increasing….er.. I guess not.
And was there, on a TOADY discussion this a.m. a Turkish representative, complaining about lack of support from NATO, who are obliged to step in and help any member state whose TERRITORY is being attacked by a non-member?
As far as I know, Turkey has invaded Syria in the north, under the pretext of creating ‘safe zones’ for fleeing Syrians?
Thus Turkish territory remains untouched. But NATO needs to rein in one of its more aggressive and expansionist members (old enough to remember Cyprus) pronto, before the Turks get NATO embroiled in a war with Russia, which is backing Syria.
Strikes me that, with a foot-hold as deep in Europe as Germany, the Ottomans never rest. I do wonder, occasionally, what Sultan Erdogan’s goals really are? Doubt that the beeb will enlighten us, or even address the relevant geopolitics in an honest fashion.
1. A trans patient having difficulty with his/her chest binders
2. A black woman with hair loss who didn’t go to her GP because alopecia treatments are for “European people”
3. A mixed-race gay man self-harming because of depression and anxiety
Interestingly, a quick internet search of the good doctor shows top results aren’t for the surgery where she works or for any medical creds, but for the W1 talent agency that represents her. There she describes herself as a “queer, black, androgynous intersectional feminist”. She has three TV credits already… all of them for CBBC.
I think the BBC is changing. I listened to 5 minutes of Toady this morning and there was nothing about Climate Change, Islaam or even diversity.
Even the BBC couldn’t shoe horn any wokeness into an item of how a man had made a replica of the Mayflower out of matchsticks. Whilst I admire his commitment, I have to admit I don’t think it was one of the most pressing stories of the day.
“Please. Enough is enough. Your writers or online editors are way below the standard required BBC. Like Amk says, your article is poorly written, you’ve got two shows in this. It’s confusing. If you guys at the BBC can’t write coherently then you have no right or credibility to criticise anyone elses writing. Almost every page I see errors! If you can’t spot and edit grammatical and spelling errors, give me a shout BBC.”
The update at 11:31 mentions social media users asking about Greta’s carbon footprint to which the BBC add “She arrived by train and was driven to the climate strike in a red Nissan Leaf electric car.” as if they are duty bound to silence her critics.
An then in true BBC style they have a clip of her leaving in the electric car…. lead by a Police motorbike escort…. whilst manoureving between another parked police car and a police van… which then clears the view so we can see another 3 police vehicles parked up.
Yep BBC, she was driven in an electric car – brilliant!
There’s a Rebel Media report, I think by Keean Bexte, filming the interior of the Tesla car that little miss muffet was using during her sojourn in Canada. It was full of all the stuff she gets so upset about the rest of us using. Keean managed to ask her about it and her reply was that she wasn’t the only one using the car.
So, my conclusion is that she allows herself to overlook the wasteful lifestyles of those around her while at the same time, she dares to admonish the rest of us for doing the same things.
Activists jumping on the Heathrow Court Decision and are now going after other infrastructure projects planned by Boris with of course the full backing of the BBC.
This is political activism masquerading as climate activism.
Maybe this should be the new Boris manifesto…
We will not go ahead with road improvement but also we will halt the building of the 40 new hospitals we planned at the same time.
We will also treble the fares on all London underground services to reduce passengers and rail activity.
We will also ban taxis in London.
We will also force all restaurants, night clubs, cinemas etc. to close at 8pm to reduce footfall in cities.
We will also impose a 500% surcharge on the fares for ALL holiday fights as they are not vital services.
We will also ban traffic for a radius of 50 miles around ALL cities with populations more than 1 million.
We will also force all broadcasters to switch off at 10pm every day until 6am next day to save power nationally.
All students will only be allowed to go to the nearest UNI to where they live to save travel and accommodation costs, halting the need for lots more uni living space in our cities.
Hold the front page, stop all the clocks, the BBC is in meltdown, Greta is on British soil!
She wafted in earlier this morning, being transported on a low energy, solar powered ice berg, her only companion a solitary and emaciated polar bear.
I saw a rather telling piece on the Beeb this morning where they interviewed a bunch of her supporters in Bristol. Despite the liberal left’s obsession with diversity each and everyone one of these climate activists was female, white, middle class and almost certainly devout Guardianistas.
You know, I’d have a bit more respect for poor little Greta and her fellow travelers if, instead of preaching to the converted of Bristol, she addressed the Gilets Jaunes in Paris.
There’s no point in telling a whole group of middle class pinko/greenies what they already believe. That’s about as challenging as being a lying Lib-Dem or Labour candidate on Question Time.
No Greta, you be brave. Go to France and stand in front of a bunch of belligerent, hairy arsed, working class farmers who are being taxed to the hilt to support green energy.
I have a 16 yr old Saab that probably does 20 miles a week. Therefore I am a lower CO2 emitter than the finest SUV. The secret is quite simple. Drive less. Don’t commute and support your local economy.
Newsnight is NOT watched by 99.5% of people
Only 0.5% of UK population watch it
BARB stats are difficult to come by but a BBC insider tweeted some stats
(note the tweet in the same thread that says actually the Guardian said in 2015 Victoria only had 39,000 viewers)
Anybody hear Fatty Lardell on Twato earlier interviewing a female “Health Minister” about Covid-19 in the UK. Every, but every sentence uttered by this, “Health Minister” began with, “So,……..”.
To the point of real annoyance. Please, anyone here, elighten me why so many interviewees commence a reply with, “So,…..”.
My own logic and common sense does not extend so far as to even speculate save for, it can only be simply fashionable.
Infuriating, isn’t it? So many programmes now contain people who start every sentence with “so”.
They also use “like” as punctuation, say “fantastic”, “absolutely”, “no worries” and “no problem” a lot, as well as addressing us all as “guys” (which I hate with a passion). What with all the screeching, whooping, and proclamations of “WOW” at every common place, mundane thing they encounter.
I think it’s a good indication of self awareness / nerves . A bit lit the habit of ending a sentence ‘going up ‘ which seems to have died away …
Once upon a time I had a job of interviewing people for a job and more or less transcribing what they said . At the end the panel would look over the transcription . The main thing I’d say is how people have a tendency to hang on to particular words and repeat them … and repeat them…
Fedup2
I think the peculiar habit of turning every statement into a question is a learned alien defect. Even though the folks who use it seem unaware that this speech anomaly has not been around very long and it’s just not English and I have been English for a long, long time.
The other verbal tick is use of the phrase ” you know “.
I find myself shouting at the radio ” no, I don’t know, that’s why you’re on the radio and not me!!!”
It occurs to me that I haven’t seen any media pictures recently of Australia engulfed in flames. What happened? Has the Climate there changed again?
It seems there are two general principles of weather phenomena:-
1) Any occurrence of extreme weather conditions anywhere and at any time is due to Climate Change.
2) Any occurrence of normal weather conditions can be safely ignored.
Therefore because of statements (1) and (2) Climate Change is a FACT.
A group of adventurous (and highly paid by you while they do it BBC luvvies, producers, camera crews, and all the other hangers on who they will need to support them) celebrities have been busy preparing for an epic ice triathlon over the past few weeks, but in light of recent travel concerns, this challenge is taking a new twist as we head from an icy minus 35 degrees to the sweltering 35 degree heat of the Namib desert in Namibia, Africa – one of the hottest, driest and emptiest places on earth.
I predict a lower than expected amount of money raised by Sport Relief. We’re all fed up of it, even people who aren’t as motivated in their dislike of the BBC as we are.
And the stupidity of it, surely CO2 is CO2 so if they believe it then it doesn’t matter wher you’re leaving your footprint.
Against my better judgement I looked at your link, at least 2 of the group have been on Strictly, one was on Celebrity X Factor, that says it all really.

BBC Web-site Watch #1 – Are the BBC rattled?
If the Home Page is anything to go by, they are. They seem to be pandering to young people. And they seem to be going very ‘light’ content-wise to the point of unreality. See here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/ and scroll down toward the foot of page and look on right hand side. The section is entitled ‘Society’.
Yes, honestly.
If you do not have an up to £3.5 billion guaranteed income then the reason why Britons are ‘missing out on daily dose of nature’ is because Britons have to go to work to earn a living.

Who in their right mind leaves that line of washing out in the garden as the weather turns so very rainy?

but not much more cos how otherwise did they put the things on the washing line anyway

I guess we are witnessing the children of the 60’s free-love and drugs society growing up and thinking this is normal behaviour for humans.
I would have thought that promoting sex ed “games” for children would fall under the category of grooming by the teachers or do I live in a parallel universe?

On the home page: “GP appointments: The doctor seeing patients in chicken shops.” Dr Ronx Ikharia is a GP from Hackney and miraculously her patients are tick box heaven for the BBC:
The bubble feeds on itself.

Yippee – live updates on St Greta

There must be LOADS more we can do!

I loved the clip on the BBC of our dear Greta speaking in Bristol with a huge solar panel in the background designed to show how climate savvy she is.
….this despite the fact the sky was dark grey and rain was pouring down, probably not even generating enough power to charge her iPhone!

Now that’d be interesting…

This time it’s about some nets Cambridge University put over some trees to deter birds while building work goes on.

XR got involved overnight with some of their “brave” warriors cutting down the nets so there’s definite collusion re. Packam and XR.
The nets were on private property and the cutting down is pure vandalism of private property so why do the authorities not act?
The more they get away with this stuff the more they will do it and it will get more brazen, time for some court cases!

So what you’re saying is ….

What did you say? How dare you!

Sport Relief: The Heat is On

A group of adventurous (and highly paid by you while they do it BBC luvvies, producers, camera crews, and all the other hangers on who they will need to support them) celebrities have been busy preparing for an epic ice triathlon over the past few weeks, but in light of recent travel concerns, this challenge is taking a new twist as we head from an icy minus 35 degrees to the sweltering 35 degree heat of the Namib desert in Namibia, Africa – one of the hottest, driest and emptiest places on earth.
I have no F******g words!
