I don’t mean this to be over-critical, just making a dispassionate observation, but scrolling back through the day’s input, I think we should be wary of falling into the same level of intolerance as those we most frequently criticise.
I have no knowledge of pollyanna, but the imediate response of affront by some was not particularly noble. We should be above such scratchiness and perhaps accept that some site aspects could do with a spring clean?
No reflection on you Fed, in any way, and Maxi’s contributions – for example – deserve all the stick they earn, but an occasional alternative suggestion can do no harm, surely?
On the other hand if the Polly in question is in any way connected with our own Guardian favourite of the same name, ignore all of the above.

We always welcome criticism and diverse points of views..and there is no reason to be snarly like we see on libmob sites.
However Pollyanna’s post might have come across as incendiary,
.. cos from the start it misrepresented, by claiming we are dull and don’t break new stories.
.. When actually we break new stories throughout the day all the time.
The difference is we used to have new pages begin on a specific topic, and now we don’t, but tend to have many topics going on at the same time.
Sister site ITBB does split by topic , so it’s always worth checking them as well as us.
Beltane – if you read what I wrote – it’s all very well turning up on a ‘campaigning ‘ site like this and saying it is irrelevant – but I asked the question of the poster – “so suggest another way of running it “ and so far have had no reply from that poster or -indeed – anyone .
I think that people are entitled to be affronted too – pop on – sneer – don’t engage – run away – that is the behaviour of a troll . And in this case it looks like you are defending one .
I put out 3 threads a week – I see it as offering the opportunity to record actual BBC conduct and the reaction to it . And if people stray off the BBC – there will not be a Fixed Penalty Notice – unless views turn nasty – which happens rarely .
I want ‘diversity of thought ‘ and ‘diversity of opinion ‘ . People can come here and defend their BBC – proving it is ‘objective ‘ and ‘fair ‘ and ‘ unbiased ‘ ….. Ot maybe they just can’t .
For instance – for a long time call sign ‘Taffman’ has regularly asked for evidence of one pro brexit piece of BBC output . No one – no one – has put one up . The nearest the BBC came to it was one QT where there was a balance of remainers to brexiters – if you exclude the remainer chair .

All comments entirely accepted – well, almost all – but I hope the point I was trying to make was that it’s far better to ignore obvious trolls. Responding simply tickles an already overstretched ego and doesn’t really achieve anything – again with the repressed and self-indulgent Maxi as a classic example..
Certainly In pollyanna’s case I thought the umbrage taken in some responses was unnecessary, but that’s only my opinion which, I’m sure, is within accepted bBBC boundaries?

As far as I am concerned Fedup you are doing a grand job. Just keep doing what you’re doing. I think the best response to folks who you consider are not voicing valid criticism of this site is -well- no response. After all what would be the point of reading the Guardian to a brick wall? I think the reader would soon grow bored and retire.

It’s a slow slog to get the changes we want – the review of the charter doesn’t come until after the next election so perhaps in the coming years it will become even more unpopular amongst the general licence payers who still stomach it . – there are over 20 million of the poor devils .

Just trying to see which ‘we’ falls under what, without wishing to be critical, albeit dispassionately.
I switched on early for the 6.30 weather forecast. I was just in time to see a piece about the effect lockdown had on disabled people. It may have been interesting but the time that can be given to it during a half hour news programme is very limited so it was superficial and is scarcely news. Then we had a warning that Blackburn (I think I have remembered the town) had a high number of covid infections and at risk of local lockdown. They touched on overcrowding and we saw people handing out leaflets. A few minutes later we were told that a man who had been doing on line keep fit classes was stopping doing them. I think he was called Bradley Walsh but I have no idea who he is. So of all the things happening at this time none of it informed me of what is happening in the world.
May I add that the 6.30 forecast informed me of rain on Saturday and Sunday. The local weather at 6.45 tells me it is going to be dry. I suppose one of them is correct.
I won’t bother watching again for some time.

LOL…the big smoking gun, the ISC report on Russian interference….damp squib….nothing to report here….BBC had to resort to whatifery….as did the Remain ISC.
Question….why did hardcore Remainer Dominic Grieve, chair of the ISC when it drew up the report, take to the airwaves during the 2019 election, making lots of sound and fury claiming the government was hiding something by not releasing the report, when he knew exactly what was in it, as he wrote it, and that it essentially contained nothing new?
Wasn’t this pure [anti-Boris/Brexit] politics by him?…he was trying to jerrymander the election by spreading black propaganda…and of course the BBC gave him a free platform again and again to do so.
Here’s the thing…the report said nothing new and completely failed to find any incriminating evidence that Brexit was stolen by Putin so they’ve had to go down the line of saying we just don’t know what effect Russian intereference had [we do really…zilch]…but we could have been absolutely sure of a secure electoral process if only the government had taken more measures….which is just whatifery.
Not only that but it’s old whatifery…..the DCMS report on fake news and disinformation in 2018 said exactly the same thing….the government hadn’t taken enough measures to prevent Russian interference…but then it was chaired by Damian Collins…another hardccore remainer.
One thing of interest from that report…what is ‘fake news’? For the BBC it’s anything they disagree with….the BBC bandies it about quite freely and happily labels things as fake news when they patently aren’t…..

If you were listening to WATO today you’d have heard an astonishing admission….a ‘game changer’ bombshell in current parlance.
Discussing Russia interference the presenter’s analysis was that Russian didn’t care who won, its sole intent was to cause as much disruption, distrust, division and instability in the US political system as possible….and they succeeded.
Here’s where WATO failed…it didn’t take it any further…not asking who was it that became Putin’s useful idiots? Who was it that has spent 4 years sowing that discontent, distrust and division across America? Who ran interference for the Russians?
We know the answer…the Democrats, the US Media and certain Media in this country who have spent the last 4 years trying to discredit and unseat Trump and his administration.
These organisations have essentially worked hand-in-hand with Putin doing his work for him…he must have sat back and laughed as America [and Britain over Brexit] tore itself apart and it cost him almost nothing to do it…no massive tank armies, no fleets of ships, no armadas of bombers…just a few words in the right place, such as a British ex-spy, and the job was done….helped by a compliant and complicit media and a corrupt Democratic party [ if ever something was so inappropriately named]
We’re told by the BBC that the Russians were trying to help Trump….funny way of doing it. Take that dodgy dossier of Christopher Steele’s…where did he get the information? Er…he got it from serving and past members of the Russian intelligence service….as the BBC’s Paul Wood tells us…

So now we know the truth…the Russians weren’t bothered who won, they just wanted to throw the US political system into chaos…but then this isn’t new news…the CIA’s assessement at the time stated that….just that everybody chose to ignore it as they tore into Trump…..and the facts show, should you care to examine them, that Clinton was literally in the pay of the Russians and had close ties to Russians involved in trying to entrap Trump….but you won’t ever hear the BBC say that….however you will hear the BBC’s finest, Sopel, say, as he did this morning, that Trump told people to go out and inject themselves with disinfectant…..now that’s a complete lie by Sopel…Trump said no such thing…he said it was something the scientists might look at…in no way telling anyone to do it….

BBC fake news and lies….outright interference in US politics….why is this any different to the Russians doing it?
The BBC et al’s sudden interest in Russia interference in elections is remarkable….the Russians have been interfering in our politics at least since the 1930’s….however possibly their greatest success was in 2019 when they nearly got, not a compromised candidate blackmailed into cooperating, but someone fully on-board with the programme, into No10….but again you’d never know listening to the BBC who fully supported that candidate.
I’m sure if Comrade Corbyn had got his feet under the desk at No10 [or Brexit had been lost] there’d hardly have been a peep about Russian interference…witness the BBC’s reluctance to say anything about the proven Russian fingerprints all over the hacked and leaked documents given to Corbyn during the election. Why the sudden reluctance to make a song and dance about that?
Where you might ask is the concern about pro-Remain interference from outside…say from the likes of Soros…the BBC concern about Russian [British citizens] donors to the Tories but not about a US citizen [Soros] using his billions to try and sway elections here…or from foreign politicians like Obama or Merkel trying to sway the Brexit vote or EU panjandrums similarly, or the BBC iself ‘interfering’ in the referendum and elections by very definitely taking sides and promoting Remain and Corbyn.

Yes the BBC is like a slow acting poison, slowly changing our own perception of reality – what is good and what isn’t. I ditched Aunty years ago and quickly found it quite uplifting spiritually to no longer have to constantly listen to being told that all the worlds problems are my own personal fault.
I was listening to snatches this week on a R4 rerun of their serial “Girl Gone”it followed an idiot lorry driver who tried to smuggle an Afgahanistan kiddy to the UK and got caught by the French authorities. The whole pitch seemed to me that it had been his “moral duty to do this not the fact that he had broken the law and was actually being manipulated by the father of the small girl to gain access to Europe.
This “documentary” had me shouting at the radio in frustration – and made me remember why I so seldom listen to the BBC anymore.
No doubt they will all live “happily ever after” in the UK at our expense and at the expense of the original communities in whatever areas they are moved to.
The only good thing to come out of this programme was that the wife of the lorry driver realised what a virtue signalling, emotionally incontinent moron she was married to and left him. At least his kids now stand a chance to be bought up with some sensible values.
I suppose every cloud has a silver lining.
Apparently BBC ‘news’ now includes segments of mini type documentaries , I didn’t know because I haven’t watched the BBC version of news for years, and recently they tried a hatchet job on Churchill and the 1943 Bengal famine making out he was culpable and therefore a racist of the first order.
This has caused some historians and retired Beeboids to issue stern rebukes and for calls in the Times to defund the BBC. They might , hopefully, have gone too far this time.
The BBC seems to be making a pretty good job of steadily increasing the alienation of those who are currently forced to pay for it. I can only assume that those in charge of the foul corporation think that by giving one last heave of outlandish propaganda they can help the Wokist revolution to seize full power. But if the Wokist coup fails and the grown ups hold the line, the BBC is digging its own grave .

Here in black and white (I am aware of the potential micro-aggression of my pun there) we see the BBC spell out the methods – if not the ultimate goal – of a supposedly anti-racist diversity campaign.

It’s news to me that businesses are meant to represent anything in particular but in short this says we’re in a revolutionary moment and we need to act to enforce the revolutionary dogmas.
Tip number one says if you are white you must walk on egg shells and if you are black you must twist every casual comment made by a white person as horribly racist – sorry, it actually says watch out for micro-aggressions.
Tip two says look at your phone. Hardly an unusual task for our millenial generation but what it requires is weird in the extreme: ‘tell me the four people in your phone that you contact most often from a work perspective. Now look at the next four people. Look at the eight people and now start telling me what these people are like. And if they’re similar to you in terms of background, in terms of social class, in terms of race, none of us are doing enough’
And so it goes on. Tip six is about the law and regulations. ‘We’ve seen how legislation can just help businesses focus. I don’t believe in overloading businesses with lots of paperwork and reporting, but when it can make a huge economic difference to the UK and for society as well, I think it’s something that we should do’
There’s no justification of the assertion that this diversity thing is of any economic benefit. The cost and complexity of more compliance with government regulation will of course favour the big corporations over the small fry.
Tip eight is about who to give jobs to – whites or blacks? Hmmmm… I bet you can guess by now, so how will this be explained nicely?
But didn’t I already tell you this stuff isn’t subtle anymore. There’s no beating about the bush now: ‘Don’t just level the recruitment playing field… Because if you level the playing field, you still might not allow somebody to get through the door’
I don’t think there was ever a conscious conspiracy hatched to replace the indigenous population of the British Isles. But now that by complacency or accident it is certainly well on the way to the tipping point of no return, there does seem to be a concerted effort from our white liberal cultural, media, political, acedemic, and now even corporate elites, to smooth the potentially bumpy transition by sapping white morale and cowering any hint of opposition.
Like the BBC the white, liberal self hating “woke” class arrogantly think that once things have been “re-balanced and us Oiks who voted for brexit have been broken , that they will be left in charge – I think they might get a shock – and by then it will be too late to enroll in a Brazilian Ju_Jitsu class to protect their daughters.
It’s almost as if the BBC is trying to start a race war. And no one dare call them out on it, because, like medieval witchcraft, there is no defence against the charge. Protesting merely shows your guilt.
I am increasingly unable to avoid the conclusion that we are watching the dying days of Western democracy and are entering an age of unreason. It is going to need some rather unpleasant medicine from rather unpleasant people to stop it, because pleasant people cannot withstand the onslaught.

i agree. If wokism isnt rooted out and destroyed it will destroy us within ten to twenty years. The first step in any fight back is smashing the BBC and granting broadcasting rights to something like Fox news and other networks so allowing the full range of political views to be displayed and discussed. Closely followed by forcing universities to allow free speech on campus and then freeing the internet from any censorship and allowing the people to hear and see the truth.
But the abolition and obliteration of the BBC must be the first vital step. A lot of good things will spring from that one act.

This is the greatest deception of all. Including the BBC, all the broadcasters and media/advertisers are working assiduously and relentlessly, to convince their “….customers and workforce….” including ‘Joe Public’ that the tiny percentage of foreigners is considerably more that is actually the case.

Hi Jeff, it doesn’t fit the BBC narrative so the BBC don’t cover it. Some stories they actively suppress and create deflection stories. I also see a lot of twisting and distortion to shift a story into the BBC narrative. To me it is obvious and childish but somehow the BBC are allowed to do it. It is simply propaganda.

Brandon really should have known that looking at Covid-19 deaths is wrong because of the varied and inconsistent ways that deaths across the UK are recorded. He really, really, should have known that. Firstly, it is basic general knowledge. Secondly, the Secretary of State for Health had only just last week called for an inquiry into how deaths are recorded in England.
In the good old days, pre-Pandemic, interview candidates for various media shows would be briefed and prepared by aides and possibly by Departmental or Party or Cabinet Press Officers. Somebody had done a poor job for Brandon Lewis.

My ‘blocking’ happened just after I added ‘uBlock’ because YouTube all of a sudden was pushing ‘trailer’ adverts at me, which I assume ‘Adblock’ had previously been stopping.
As an aside I don’t understand those online newspapers, supposedly in the communication business, that swamp their sites with ‘pop ups’ and videos that must need a Tb/s link to function properly. Less is more guys!

The Daily Mail online is the worst. Between the ruddy great advert filling at least the top of third of the screen and the large video box bottom right, I can hardly see the articles. However apart from Richard Littlejohn they are probably not worth reading. But usually I like to go straight to the comments for light entertainment and the whole thing crashes and I give up.
I was surprised (and shouldn’t have been) when all those gossip columnists who think they are parliamentary journalists were in the rose garden for the Dominic Cummings statement, the Daily Mail representative was as equally vile as Beth, Laura and the rest. You could feel the hate pouring off him.
I have been told the DM on-line is different from the paper version and the paid for on-line. But reading on-line and the hate it has shown the government and the British people during covid had not made me want to pay towards its upkeep.
Ironically I clicked the link to the Fail story on BBC history and entered a world of hurt unable to read anything for ads. Clicked a few x’s to get to actual text and ended up with google demanding I tell them why. Er… no.
To be fair to Guido, what other source of revenue does his site have to fund their activities?

Here is IMO an important BBC-related clip. Is anyone left wondering why the CONservatives have been so slow & reluctant to reign in the obvious & worsening bias pumping out daily from the BBC? Why have the CONservatives failed to even make the small move to decriminalise non-payment of the tax? Why haven’t they tried to ban BLM rioters from our streets?
Perhaps it is because the CONservatives share the same discriminatory views as the BBC against ethnic Britons. Or “whites”

Priti Patel frequently finds herself as the only non-white in the room not because Britain is a racist society but because it is a meritocracy. She has got where she is today because of her intelligence. Why is she intelligent? If there were more intelligent blacks and browns in this country than there actually are, there is no doubt that Priti Patel would be bumping into more of them in the corridors of power.
Neither the Home Office nor any other body or business in this country needs diversity and inclusion courses or training. All they need is what they have always had – an ability to identify intelligence and the best candidate for the job.

How is the BBC going to handle the Nick Buckley case ?until 5 minutes ago I didn’t know anything about it . My Buckley set up a charity to help the homeless . But he was sacked by its board of trustees after commenting on the real agenda of the current race fad which I will never name .
It seems – today – the board of trustees have resigned and he has got his charity back .
My details could be inaccurate – others here will know more – but the story lifts the stone a bit on who are the victims of this race madness – so I wonder if the BBC will notice and report it at all…. ?

This morning the trustees of the charity, which helps young people in Manchester avoid a life of crime, say they have “confirmed a mutually acceptable statement to avoid litigation”.
The current trustees have resigned and a new board has asked Nick Buckley to return to his former role.
They tweeted
the sacking was not because of his social media posts or because of the online petition to have him removed.
rather he was removed to “protect the charity’s reputation following legal advice and Charity Commission guidance”.
Basically it was a bit stupid to shout “white privelege” at someone who spends his life helping largely white homeless people.
