Weekend Thread 17 October 2020

According to the President of France – the horrific beheading of a teacher in Paris was an ‘Islamic terrorist attack’. The BBC has had to report this murder which was motivated by the showing of a cartoon of Mohammed ;but on its track record the BBC will be desperate to close the incident down and pretend threats of terrorism in the UK are from elsewhere . There is a dark side to multiculturalism but for the BBC propaganda machine it is ‘look away now ‘…

(going for the kill here with 3rd, 4th or 5th place)

Not sure if this has been spotted, but in today’s Frederick Forsyth’s column in the Express he mentions that……

“the Australian, Dr Thomas Borody, has made a discovery that could defeat Covid 19.” Its an existing drug called Ivermectin and is used to prevent peptic ulcers. “For years it was thought peptic ulcers resulted from intestinal causes. He found that conventional science was on the wrong track. They were bacterially transmitted. Ivermectin prevented that. It became the standard and successful antidote. You might think that Big Pharma, the pharmaceutical giants that dominate the drug world, would have been delighted. On the contrary. The discovery of this simple and cheaply produced medication cost them billions in profits. Now it seems that Ivermectin, with two other chemical additions WILL KNOCK COVID STONE DEAD.

In field tests on a few thousand sufferers it has so far scored a 100 percent knock out of the virus with no delay.

More to the point Ivermectin is out of patent. It is free to manufacture and costs $2 a shot as opposed to $3,000 a shot for the latest attempt from the US based pharmaceutical giants. So a warning. It could be Big Pharma will do all it can to halt or discredit this possible breakthrough. The profits from the first patented Covid killer are absolutely astronomical.”

Is anyone in our hapless Government aware of this ??????

#1 For mot people Covid i so mild they don’t need anything , maybe a paracetamol.

#2 So magic solutions are of interest to only hospital cases

#3 Whilst already known drugs can mostly be safely repurposed
the idea that a writer knows best and the hospitals are more stupid, sounds like conspiracy theory land.
Like if there is a cheap magic solution why wouldn’t a hospital already be using it ?

Yeh sure if you look on Twitter or Youtube you can find supporters

      Brissles,
I’ve been ‘banging the drum’ for Ivermectin for some while now. You have nicely summarised the position in your contribution above, Pharma included. Just to take a few points further, Ivermectin killed off > 98% of the chinese virus in vitro (test tube) and if that success rate could be duplicated in a human infected, many of the problems Worldwide could be eliminated. Only just recently the American FDA decided to focus research but the crafty WHO/FDA seem to work on seeking failure for these existing drugs when researched so as to leave an open goal eventually for the new and expensive drugs when proven. They do this by research based on ridiculous levels of the drug so it doesn’t work. Like Hydroxychloroquine. In fact, wind the clock back further and look at Vit D and Zinc. The research is in and overwhelmingly confirms that, as a prophylactic, you could not better these two to give you a fighting chance. Do you hear this recommended from your GP, the NHS or indeed, the Government. No you don’t. Why I wonder. Equally cheap so no interest from big Pharma. The big con continues.

I agree, Darcy, but I guess what it does is to take care of a secondary infection in the lungs, a bacterial infection. It needs to be remembered that Covid-19 is a virus, not a bacteria.

I think one of the things that is become clear in care of Covid-19 sufferers is that a portfolio of meds may be needed, separately or in combination, and may need to tailored quite closely to an individual patient.

Zantac aka rinitidine still performs a useful function as an H2 antagonist giving protection to the stomach lining without the long term side effects which can obtain from the…..oprazole proton pump inhibitors.
It does not as you rightly say get rid of the H Pylori which needs an antibiotic cocktail.

Not sure I go with the endless attacks on big pharma.
Sure they have their own interests, name me a company that doesnt.
But along the way they have invented, at their own risk and expense, many life-saving and life-quality raising drugs.

The lifespans of those with high cholesterol and/ or blood pressure issues have been transformed just for starters.

I very much doubt if we really would do better with a nationalised British National Drug Board.

I see it happening in my village all the time. Though not black, but numerous lads on their pushbikes stopping by parked cars to pick up the ‘consignment’. Its only in my later years I’ve become aware of this, – never mixed in circles where drugs were taken, purple hearts in the 60’s were talked about, but even then knew no-one that took them.

Ironic, I now have to take ‘drugs’ to stay alive, yet those that are ‘healthy’ take drugs that will kill them.

Readers may have a variety of views on CV lockdowns or not but meanwhile there is BBC bias to record.

When the government announce any given CV measure, it takes nanoseconds for the BBC to dredge up some, any, malcontent who is portrayed as an unfairly treated victim. Any number of pubs and bar owners have been given voice in this way. Undermining the government is the BBC’s reason to exist, hence their wall-to- wall coverage of those brave labour councillors in Manchester.

But over in Wales a lockdown is planned by their Labour administration, you know Labour, the party supported by Andy Burnham who opposes such measures.. The BBC interview a pub owner and……hey presto……as if by magic she is fully understanding and supportive of the lockdown measures !!!!!!!!!

    Truly amazing, isn’t it.

Here is the first sentence of the BBC report on their webshite. I repeat. First sentence.

‘The victim is said to have shown controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad to his students’

So that’s all right then. The BBC priority message seems to be that the guy had it coming to him.

And anyway, exactly for whom are the cartoons controversial? Don’t expect the BBC to come clean on that one.

This is how the BBC are currently headlining the story:
      2020-10-17-0129-World-00.jpg

Note the BBC do NOT condemn the beheading, but they DO condemn Islamophobia. This is the reason why they mention the teacher showed “controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad”.

Also if you look at the linked stories there is one that says “Paris Attacks: I am not Charlie“. Following the terrorist attacks at Charlie Hebdo many people in support of the satirical magazine wore t-shirts saying “Je Suis Charlie” which means I am Charlie. In this article the BBC explain it is okay to say “I am not Charlie” because according to the BBC the magazine published Islamophobic material designed to be offensive to Muslims.

The BBC’s focus is on condemning Islamophobia while remaining neutral to the beheading and the previous terrorist attacks, which the BBC see as an understandable but excessive response to Islamophobia.

Luckily, when the awful BBBC is defunded, the few autocue readers left will have to provide their own ‘channel’ to support these murdering sods who infest our country and now France – again! They can easily get their income from the dreadful shits who murder indiscriminately, because there must be loads of these fanatics around, with lots of foreign cash to pay for the ‘station’!

I subscribe to a normal, friendly gardening website, where politics are condemned as a talking point, and moderated at first sight. Just recently there have been a couple of posts, where someone has stated how bad the BBBC is, and because one of the posts is an ‘internal’, one, some chums have really let rip!

It’s strange to read comments from normal God-fearing chums, with whom I’ve been conversing for many years, displaying the sort of bile and amazement at how bad the BBC has become, especially as all we’ve talked about to date has been leeks, tomatoes and flowers!

The undercurrent of feeling amongst normal people still exists, but in a more defined manner these days – the BBC isn’t a good place to go to any more, they are a corrupt crowd of leftie, nasty people, and their demise is not far off.

It’s not just the BBC, it’s the whole liberal establishment right across the West. They created this problem with their policy of mass migration despite being warned by serious figures like Powell and DeGaulle that it would in the long term be disasterous. Fifty years of liberalism has brought us to a point where Muslims, as is the way of Islam world wide, can terrorise non Muslims into conversion. Things will get worse and worse as the process of Islamification ramps up, more and more non Muslims will be murdered and it won’t be odd ones here and there.
Liberals know that their mass migration policy was disasterous but their conceit and arrogance is such that they are unable to admit it, probably even to themselves. Instead they plough on doubling down on their initial mistake and wrecking western civilisation.

100% agree Doublethinker, I have been saying all this for the last 10 years as I have endeavoured to research the whole Islamic issue. The actions of Merkel and other nations leaders have through their duplicitous behaviour allowed Islam to enter every corner of every nation in Europe and as per have reeked havoc among the white Christian peoples of Europe. This weakness from the Governments will eventually destroy nations, maybe leading to civil war against this invasion-the Media headed by the BBC will cower into a corner, seeking clemancy from the Muslims, no such luck they will suffer, as will their families. Let alone the China Virus, very challenging times ahead for us all.

BBC elites. I learn today (The Times) p41 that the BBC are considered impartial. This may have been the case 40 years ago, but I am still surprised that someone still thinks that is the case. Journalist Sathnam Sanghera has an article on the BBC enlightenment (which I doubt exists) yet he gives a good example of why the BBC like to butter the toast both sides and scoff the lot.

Rory Keating is a former director of archive content (Librarian to the rest of us) of the BBC, is now the Chief Executive of the British Library. Roger Mosey former head of BBC Television News, is now master of Selwyn College and a deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge. Mark Damazar former controller of BBC radio 4, is a former master of St Peters College, Oxford.

I am sure you are all thrilled to learn that news. Mediocrity has its reward and these placements will ensure these institutions remain as left wing as possible and ensure Universities are a dumb as the BBC or dumber (if that word exists). On their watch we have seen the BBC fall from impartiality from borderline conservative to hard left anarchists with tinges of Bolshevism as ‘balance’

Usually Sanghera in the Times writes good copy, but he goes on to praise how the BBC are able to prop up the ‘establishment’ on the basis of a notion of competence he admits that nobody at the BBC seems to be financially competent but he states that the BBC get these ‘elite jobs’ based entirely on political IMPARTIALITY!

I choke. What? He is able to point out why that is.. he says ( and I agree with this) , ” I cannot entirely discount that there might be some actual management talent at the single worst-managed organisation in Britain (Mark Thompson), the former director-general, admittedly did a great job at the New Your Times”. Well, he was recommended by – the BBC.

Lets talk about Mark Thompson as a management guru is rather suspect for a start. He had to resign as he was the fall-guy when Jimmy Saville died ‘on the job’ so to speak on his watch. The BBC never apologised but stated that Saville (somehow) was not employed by the BBC and his BBC Chauffeur (also paid by the BBC) who was also later charged (and died in Police custody). Previously a former Director of Radio 1 had an international arrest warrant out for sexual activity with young boys going back over 20 years, then Operation Yewtree set up by the Police lead to 800 interviews with very few arrests (Its a Knockout Presenter was singled out along with Rolph Harris) but many other vanished. due to unreliable witnesses and simply VANISHED the age of some of the former BBC staff (not prosecuted due to age as being over 80 for example). Others escaped with a caution and put on the sexual register. Only Ester Rantzen complained at the BBC about Savilles’ antics, and she was totally IGNORED by BBC management at the time.

LBC this week interviewed a Solicitor (Slater & Gordon) was acting on behalf of 169 victims (a tiny portion) of all that Saville had sexually abused during his stay at the BBC. During his long tenancy on many assorted BBC programmes the BBC were happy to promote it all as ‘charitable’ on prime-time TV and TOTP. (remember; Top Of The Pops’ was popular at the time).

Nick Ferrari took umbridge that the BBC were going to white-wash the whole saga as a ‘one wolf’ predator and suspect.

During the BBC CHARTER debate in parliament on the future of the BBC TV license, a cross party committee cross examined the accounts on the impossible high salaries of some of the presenters (over a million pounds) in in others the very high ’expenses’ of BBC management. On of those ‘expenses’ was Mark Thompson who was asked to resign to ‘save the BBC’ and then popped up as the only candidate at the New York Times as Chief Editor and CEO ( a well funded left wing newspaper worse than The Guardian). Lord King was asked why Mark Thompson was paid a million pounds ‘bonus’ (as he left) and the reply was (by Lord King) …”..that was to keep him focussed”. That was in total disbelief to all MP’s sitting on the cross party committee. And yet the BBC still got its BBC Charter to tax us all to death.

But still, some in the ‘establishment’ see (somehow) that the BBC is IMPARTIAL and give them ‘top jobs’ ‘because forty years ago, the BBC was seen as (incorrectly) as impartial. The trouble is, that was a long, long time ago and then the BBC was under MI5 surveillance.

This lot are anti-establishment flunkies, left whingers and borderline TROTSKY acolytes. They deserve nothing but ridicule, nor should they expect public office as they are public leeches. and despite this ‘burden’. They fly into ‘top jobs’ based on previous employment at the BBC. (which also provides massive pensions that nobody else gets anywhere on the planet).

How any journalist can see the BBC as being IMPARTIAL, is beyond words. Its a swamp that needs draining. We’ve all had enough of the BBC.

Excellent resume, Philip – thank you!

It’s some sort of disease that these people get once they realise that, as public servants, they have a job for life.

Here, in Kent, our poll tax has gone to pay hundreds of professional layabouts, posing as local government employees, who regularly change ‘jobs’, and start their laziness elsewhere, often in the same places of work. I’m sure it is the same just about everywhere, but the BBC is one of the worst culprits, (after the House of Lords that is), who are stealing hard-earned cash from citizens who can least afford the outlay.

A week’s worth of an old-age pension goes to pay for the likes of the gurning idiot, Lineker, and the stupid Zoe Ball, but of course, they have jobs for life, and couldn’t give a hoot.

      The BBBC hates Great Britain.

I`m sure most of you refuseniks have had that latest epistle from the TV Licensing (a bit arms length from the BBC ) enjoining you to give your name , rank , number and £157 to the coffers of the troughers at wherever they exist .

I wonder if I can wander around town and do the same ?

Basically I give a random stranger a number , if it was TV Licensing it would be 102 numbers and 13 letters on the basis of their threatograms which any normal organisation would feel excessive but I digress .

Having given innocent stranger a number I then

    1) accuse him/her of an offence
    2) tell him /her that they are under investigation
3)that they must pay the organisation or suffer

There is a little get out here and there , if you`re the brightest barrister in the land but most normal folk pay up before the threats are sent because they dont know better .

They dont know better because the organisation , purporting to be a media that dispenses full information , doesn`t tell them all their rights and the limitations of the organisation and its mob in its enforcement .

Now who would want that organisation to prosper ?

Do the BBC and MI5 believe that Security from foreign invasion is racist?

The Government has used the Covid-19 scare as an excuse to expand state bureaucracy by insanely spending £9 Billion setting up an organisation with a vested interest in perpetuating the “New Normal”. A secret authoritarian organisation called the Joint Biosecurity Centre, headed by Clare Gardiner, who worked at the National Cyber Security Centre. Its remit includes protecting the liberal establishment by collecting and storing data about members of the public, including those who voted for Brexit. Its remit is also to work with the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) to analyse future threats to the liberal elite from free speech on the internet, Brexit voters, right-wing terrorism, climate change and patriotic white British people in the countryside. As well as producing dossiers blaming Russia, it will also use people picked up from the English Channel, to fill empty hotels for use in Government adverts and to spread new flue viruses throughout the nation. They will then use this “New Normal” as an excuse to close down the British economy and control the white British indigenous enemy within. The “New Normal” means “Security from foreign invasion is racist, but the security of the members of the security establishment, from the white British enemy, is not racist”

Also the new upper-class twit at the head of MI5 warns us about Climate Change. I think he said that Russia is providing bursts of bad weather, but China is using coal to fundamentally change the climate. He also warns of a foreign virus attack on Britain. We already know that an enemy wont worry about a blowback, because they will obviously now attack Britain with a mild flue virus. But they now know that their friends in MI5 will destroy the British economy with a very heavy overreaction to the attack.

Like now. Either those who made the decision, Bliar included, were conscious of the likely effects of introducing savages into a generally stable and law abiding population or, they decided it would be a ‘rough ride’ for 3 or 4 decades until it naturally settled down and the older element of the population, those who objected the most, had died off. Could it be that those 3/4 decades started looking more bleak than the Davos/UN could have predicted and being the more elderly of the population as more vociferous in their resentment and rejection of the elites migration policy that Covid ‘conveniently’ came along to speed up and eliminate the older, belligerent element of the population………….

Our papers are clearly gearing up for another lockdown. It just so happens the Guardian front page this morning offers: ‘Free delivery for six weeks’ and wouldn’t you know it, The Times likewise has: ‘Free delivery for 6 weeks. The Times on your doorstep’ – of course our broadsheet elite class are depending on the nation’s snot-nosed young newspaper delivery boys not to be confined to home, in a rerun of the March lockdown “you work so I can stay at home on full pay” hypocrisy.
Naturally those people Shakespeare would have described as the “rude mechanicals” are desperately hanging onto their jobs and working as best they can whilst the actors who strut the national stage compete to win the hearts of those in the comfy seats who prefer to stay at home.
The Telegraph tells us: ‘Teachers call for two-week half-term. Union demands schools are closed as part of national “circuit breaker” lockdown’ – anyone getting déjà vu? My imagination, or do our teacher unions now only seem to exist to blow chalk dust up the Labour Party leader’s derrière?
The ‘i’ explains why: ‘UK closer to new lockdown’ and the answer, folks, is: ‘Ministers and advisors believe Johnson will be bounced into tougher restrictions’ – but can the nation afford the cost of another lockdown? ‘Sunak is pressured by Tory MPs to offer new financial support for worst-hit areas’ – so there you have it, any sense of conservative fiscal responsibility has been thrown out of the widow.
‘I was stoned, naked and under arrest’ – there was a time when one might have disapproved of this cocky tale of dissipation from: ‘Hollywood’s wildest A-lister Matthew McConaughey’ but when put in contrast on the front page of the Times with the pic of the smug-looking young woman well wrapped up for winter and clutching her comforting mug of hot (cocoa?) and advising us: ‘How to stay happy in lockdown (the Danish way)’ – in my present fevered (not covidic, hopefully) imagination I’m increasingly inclined to forsake the sensible Nordic lovely and party with the crazy Texan. He was fantastic in the first True Detective series. Admittedly a bit schmaltzy in Interstellar. But I digress.
The Guardian temps us to stay at home with: ‘Nigella’s comfort food. Exclusive recipes’ – now that is a tempting prospect. However, the Times blunt demand: ‘Eat! Nadiya’s bake of the month’ is rather off putting.
The Telegraph’s revelation that: ‘Osborne being lined up as BBC chairman’ has completely put me off my lunch. Did anyone ever read the Evening Standard when he edited that London giveaway? Let me tell you – wall-to-wall diversity-stuffed lefty-liberal pandering 364 days a year. Then when there happened to be an election it advised we vote Tory.
Our press front pages are none too keen on overseas news. The Telegraph mentions in passing: ‘Teacher beheaded in Paris terror attack’ – no wonder our teachers are getting a little workshy.
But if you want French opinion dictated to us British read the FT, it’s full of it: ‘Johnson breaks off trade talks… Barnier still hopeful’ and then we also have in the FT: ‘Arsène Wenger on managing Arsenal’ as I recall that went somewhat like our EU membership. All well for a while but when his managerial achievements waned and his club wanted a change it was one hell of a job to be rid of him. ‘I was not completely normal’ he tells us.

As someone who’s politics probably are more centre left than many of you, I don’t have a problem with the Sikh community and have a lot of friends who are black, and thoroughly dislike racism on either side of our community, I have to agree with the above comment.

I wonder how any Government would’ve coped under the current situation, the Chancellor has made billions available to companies and yet they still want more. Teachers are moaning about having to work in schools under the current rules, saying there is little ventilation, which, unless things have changed since my 70’s and very early 80’s school days is rubbish. My secondary school used to have two sets of Windows that could be opened, one with a long pole and a lower set that was a screw type system (my school was built in the 20’s), our classrooms were well ventilated, and we learned to keep our jumpers or cardigans on during lessons.
They also, if people disagree with them, trot out the well supermarket workers have PPE. So? They have had to work through the pandemic, as have bus drivers and taxi drivers often with little protection, yet no one stood outside on Thursday nights applauding them, I’m incredibly proud of my husband who has worked since March, taking people to where they need to be with very little protection and very little thanks.

It’s just take, take, take and the Mayors of London and Manchester are just out to cause as much problems as possible.

In other news, I see Kirstie Alley is getting thoroughly abused in Twitter for coming out in support of President Trump. The kinder politics of the car left, what a bloody joke, excuse my language.

Halifax, hope you are feeling much better, keep warm and take paracetamol, it seems to help with the fever, aches and pains etc.

He had nothing to say when the Bataclan massacre took place, nor did he express anger, upset or concern over the Manchester bombing that counted a number of children amongst its victims. Likewise, the murder of Lee Rigby and the various attacks on people in London have failed to elicit anything from him.

However, when a convicted armed robber who’s drugged to the hilt dies whilst being apprehended by the police several thousand miles away, said teacher is apoplectic.

In the US there is a huge double scandal around Joe and Hunter Biden and their shenanigans in Russia, Ukraine and China. One is the story itself, the other is the response of Big Tech (Facebook and Twitter) which showed themselves to be shamelessly partisan in their treatment of the story in the New York Post, amounting to blatant censorship.

So how does the BBC react? It plays down the serious and well-documented allegations themselves, and squirrels away the story of social media censorship under ‘Tech’, where hopefully only a few nerds will see it.

    Fack checking. Fake news?

I take a little solace from the humour in the remarks of John Podhoretz editor of the conservative Commentary Magazine concerning the recent televised Town Hall performance of the Democrat candidate Joe Biden.

“He did one of those ‘my dad told me a story’ last night. They just happened to be out walking the streets of Scranton Pennsylvania one day in 1950 and they saw two men kissing, romantically. His dad said ‘Joey, they love each other’.”

“I will bet you a million dollars that never happened. Two men on a street corner in Scranton Pennsylvania, making out, in 1950. And his dad, the daily communicant at church, did not say ‘they just love each other, Joey’.”

“Anytime Biden says ‘my dad said, Joey…’ what follows is a cock and bull story”.

There must be a total repudiation of the Withdrawal Treaty, on the basis that the EU entered into it in bad faith and has failed to observe its basic premise of the requirement to put in place a normal trade agreement with the UK.

The case for this is very clear and we have published the evidence. (For readers wanting a quick summary, please see the last piece we did on 10 Sept 2020.) here.

If the Prime Minister is serious about trade talks being over, what better time than to announce that the Withdrawal Treaty is null and void?

Once again we urge the Prime Minister most strongly to announce this essential move.

Today in the Daily Mail he writes about superspreaders of Covid and asks what one looks like. Trump of course! It shouldn’t matter what a UK newspaper writes about a US President but apparently the DM on line has a huge American readership. And a BBC regular predictably puts Trump in a negative light.

But for now I have a means of recording BBC news videos that I think might be worth saving.

Question: How can you spot fake news on the BBC?

Answer: Fake news on the BBC is constructed by the none use of censored information. So look elsewhere for the missing information.

Example: The BBC sides with environmental activists like Greta by censoring the Atmospheric Physics. But Tallbloke’s Talkshop and the Mensa Forum side with Donald Trump by showing how Venus proves that is a Dogma or Hoax.

If the test for ‘false news’ is somebody’s emotional response to it they they are lost . For instance – was the beheading of a teacher in Paris by an Islamic terrorist animal false news because I had a severe emotional reaction to it . The upside being that he was shot dead .

As for the example used – the BBC seems to think “ US intelligence “ is reliable when referring to President Trump – when we know that the intelligence agencies were infested with Democrat appointees ….D minus – must do better – see me …

I noticed that the Newsround video contains two young white females indoctrinated by the modern day university system.

I have also looked at the wider BBC website at how they have handled the Hunter Biden story and they are using every trick to downplay it, to misdirect and to deny. These are all skills that are taught as standard in as part of a modern day university degree in English or a related artsy or social sciences subject.

‘Ammonite: Who was the real Mary Anning?’

Mary Anning is something of a local celebrity where I live. Honestly, what is not to like, a true underdog story – a self-educated woman, born into a poor family in a small, West Country fishing town, who discovered many of the most famous, and impressive fossils ever found, and took on the smug, self satisfied ‘authorities’ on the subject (in her day) and won.

Therefore, you’d think a film about her life would be something to celebrate… except, it seems the director (and writer of the screenplay), one Francis Lee (no, me neither), decided they needed to ‘spice up’ the story a little.

‘Francis Lee, who wrote and directed the film starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, readily admits this is not a biopic – and stands by the decision to depict a same-sex love story, despite the fact that Anning’s romantic inclinations are lost to history.’

    What?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-54510746

‘Lesbian storyline defended by film director Francis Lee’

‘But director Francis Lee tweeted he thought it was appropriate “after seeing queer history be routinely ‘straightened’ throughout culture”.

“Given a historical figure where there is no evidence whatsoever of a heterosexual relationship, is it not permissible to view that person within another context…?”‘

Maybe, but what are the odds? Estimates of the percentage of women identifying as lesbian in the UK seem to vary between around 0.5 and 3%, depending who you believe. Let’s say 1 in a 100 to keep it simple. How many people were living in Lyme Regis in 1800? Around 1500 apparently, if we assume half were men, that means 750 women, of whom around 8 may have been lesbian… assuming, of course that the percentage of lesbians in the population was similar to today… now how many of those would have been actively participating lesbians in 1800, and what are the odds of two of them having a homosexual relationship? Hmm…

‘The Telegraph quoted a member of Anning’s family, Barbara Anning, who said: “I believe if Mary Anning was gay she should be portrayed as gay and this should also be by a gay actress.

“But I do not believe there is any evidence to back up portraying her as a gay woman… I believe Mary Anning was abused because she was poor, uneducated and a woman. Is that not enough?”‘

    Indeed.

Isn’t a more reasonable explanation that Miss Anning simply wanted to be her own boss in an era whan a woman (especially one without the wealth and leisure to pursue her ‘hobbies’) was expected to run a household for her husband and produce children? Or, is it now reasonable to assume anyone who chose not to marry is homosexual? Elizabeth I?

Don’t worry, Mr Lee has a perfectly reasonable answer to that.

“As a working class, queer film maker, I continually explore the themes of class, gender, sexuality within my work, treating my truthful characters with utter respect and I hope giving them authentic respectful lives and relationships they deserve.”

Yes, but… actually, no, isn’t that ‘sexual orientation appropriation’?

I don’t like films about Churchill, Cromwell, Nelson and Victoria with heterosexual sex scenes. I presume the sex scenes are for the ladies, so make a cup of tea if it happens.

I think this proves that sex scenes are for left-wing Gays and Women, while the intellectual stuff is for heterosexual Men.

Richard, if I wanted to see sex scenes I’d watch porn.

If I want to sit down and watch a film with my family and friends, we’d all prefer if it skipped the sex scenes and weird same sex relatiionships guff, and just concentrated on the plot.

There’s more than enough to the life of Mary Anning, the era she lived in, and the stunning, changeable South Dorset coastal scenery, to make an incredible, fascinating film, suitable for anyone to watch, why try to cram anything else in?

Sounds as if Mr Lee has a personal agenda he’s trying to shoehorn in where it’s not needed, or wanted.

I notice that ‘Kill the Boer, kill the Farmer’ was sung again yesterday by the EFF in SA, at Senekal, where a confrontation was avoided by farmers meeting elsewhere.
Must be the only country in the world where it is legal to stir up racial hatred and incitement to murder by singing such songs, tacitly approved of by the government?
No consequences and little media comment elsewhere in the world.
