TWatO Watch #1 – More waves of negativity from the Knaves of Wegativity, the BBC.
TWatO started with a negative VoxPop before even the 1 p.m. News had been read! Is that a record? Cannot believe I managed to listen to the whole programme.
Up2,
Last Sunday, just after the ‘news’ at 2200, a female voice said, “The news was read by ‘V Jay’ (?) and I’m Ritula Shah”. Personally, I would vote to clear out all white workers at the BBC and have done with it. Better in one fell swoop rather than the trickle down plan. After all, that’s where our own “Worlds Most Trusted Broadcaster” is headed.
Should I draw a graph of disappearing licence fee payers v proportionate increases in foreign employees? I fancy that would be as simple straight line decay graph and it could yield an idea of when the BBC is coming to an end. Bit like the theoretical absolute zero. After all, they love the experts and ‘science’ don’t they?
My favourite MP -Ian ‘the people of Scotland blackford – has taken to the Twitter because he thinks the £500 free taxpayers money NHS give away is going to be taxed . I’d tax it at 110% but I bet a fair number are going to be on 40% _____
The finances are bust . This is borrowed money – yet the SNP treats it like it is ‘earned’..
I remember employing someone who was on low hours and low pay . I wanted to give him some money as a performance bonus . He had to explain to me that he’d lose a shed load of benefits if I threw him a thousand pounds . Felt bad afterwards – and even worse that the benefits system did this . – he got the money – just off the books …..
An expression that has puzzled me since it first appeared in the 1990s.
Does it make a comparison with what may (or not) be stuffed in a man-cave or what may (or not) fall off a lorry?
The OED suggests it is derived from the BBC comedians’ favourite word plus ‘load’. As the S-word can be a noun, adjective or verb with meanings ranging from good to bad, that doesn’t help. But I do know what you mean, so I guess it doesn’t matter.
While on the subject of words Huffington Post irritates me this morning by telling us that we are ‘braced’ for bad weather. No we are only braced if we have made preparartions for something that we are expecting, so they are wrong on both counts.
Checking The Guardian this morning to see what Peppa Pig did wrong two years ago I note that President Trump is being baselessly reported as making ‘baseless’ claims of electoral fraud. Putting aside all those people lining up with sworn affadavits in hand for the moment, shouldn’t it be of concern that our ‘free and independent media’ are using exactly the same terminology – almost as if the are just quoting a press release from a ‘higher power’?
This morning I mocked the Daily Mirror and their clumsy phrase:
“International Day of People with Disabilities”
Later today the Southbank Centre emails to tell me it’s: “International Day of Persons with Disabilities”
I know the correct Politically Correct language moves fast but who has this right?
Wokipedia reckons: “International Day of Disabled Persons”
Google likewise says: “International Day of Disabled Persons”
My head is in a spin. Let’s check the BBC’s Ouch! Surely they have the definitive style guidence on this: “UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities”
The UN I guess is the horse’s mouth, they appear to go with: “International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD)” – so that’s “People” a definite “with” (it’s in the acronym) and just the one “Disability”
But another of their agency sites says: “International Day of People with Disabilies” – using the plural disabilities.
“Persons” would appear to be a local British PC embellishment by middle class institutions such as the BBC and the Southbank that hasn’t as yet filtered down to the tabloid Mirror. Although the internet is pushing “Persons”
Perhaps “People” is too old Labour and socialistic sounding?
The second UN site illustrates the day with a picture of a young boy who is best described as… Bla… ? Colo… ? Afri… ? Ne… ?
To quote an old BBC radio comedy show… I’m sorry, I haven’t a clue.
Persons with disabilities. Years ago people spoke of cripples. And the word ‘cripple’ carried a moral message that such people were entitled to care and sympathy.
Years ago my aunt who lived with us and was partially paralysed after a stroke had to be carried from room to room. My mum fell down the stairs when carrying her, losing her pregnancy and very close to losing her life. When warned against carrying her sister she replied ‘But she is a cripple’.
Perhaps that was my first introduction to the way morality is woven into language.
Persons with disabilities, my arse.
To be pedantic. The word “idiot” comes from the Greek noun ἰδιώτης idiōtēs which referrred to a private person, someone who played no part in politics. Later it shifted its meaning. But I think that somehow the original meaning was captured in Lenin’s expression ‘useful idiots’.
Each night in news programmes they are seen as members of the public usefully expressing their support for the experts who are guiding us through the pandemic.
The lying BBC systematically ignores the numerous cases of abduction, forced conversion and forced ‘marriage’ (aka rape) of often underaged girls by muslims.
But they’re very quick to report this kind of story, where they can portray muslims as victims: “India Muslim man arrested under ‘love jihad’ law”.
Complete with sob-story about ‘lovers’ separated by nasty Hindus, gleefully illustrated with meaningless sentimental slogans like below.
You can read the nauseating article below, but note the abundant use of speech marks, as if to say: this is not a real thing.
“Love jihad”… “forced” or “fraudulent” religious conversions.
Vlad,
“……cases of abduction, forced conversion and forced ‘marriage’ (aka rape) of often underaged girls by muslims.” Don’t forget the chopping and cutting that goes on during FGM……..
Savages, the lot of em!
TWatO Watch #2 – Have school exams changed substantially in the past 50 years?
I listened to various people from the education sector on TOADY and TWatO, including SoS for Education, Gavin Williamson, pupils and teachers and teachers Union Representatives and couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
Are the subject syllabi kept secret?
Is there no access allowed to question papers from prior years with model answers?
Are there no mock examinations, taken about six or seven months before the real thing?
That is what I seemed to be hearing today. All of those things were being talked about as though they were new things, to be introduced in response to the Pandemic and the loss of schooling through illness with Covid-19.

It should make a hell of a lot of difference if the other guys in your work team have immunity.
Likewise it would be intelligent to look for people who have natural immunity.
You’d be looking to see if Covid has managed to sweep through some households twice.
There seem to be lots of case where the wife sharing a bed with her husband never got Covid when their husbands did etc.
If there are occasions where such partners themselves later got Covid that would disprove that they had natural immunity.
but if such close contact people never got Covid, you could put them on a list of the probably-immune.
Likewise when it comes to shutting businesses, it seems to close businesses wholesale, without considering more case by case thinking.
The first Pfizer vaccine is basically a micro dose of Covid, small enough to be defeated, but enough to teach the body to recognise it as the enemy and not be tricked into replicating it if it’s ever encountered again.
In other words it gives immunity.
All well and good except a central plank of the government’s project fear is you can’t gain immunity to Covid….eg to emphasise this the PM, despite having had Covid, recently self isolated.

Suspected people smuggling gang arrested so the Beeb tells us.
A 36 year old British Syrian man has been arrested. Not quite sure if he is British or Syrian. Never mind, he obviously is in a gang, all one of him, the others arrested earlier in the year. Meanwhile £28 million is being given to our French friends to stop the dinghy crossings -as winter approaches – doh !
Ongoing and increasing is the number of illegals hiding in or under freight lorries via ferry.
What the public might be unaware of is that if a person or persons are found in an HGV it will invariably result in the container being ‘contaminated’ and therefore its contents destroyed (this does happen). If you fail to get a nice satsuma in your Christmas stocking this year, don’t worry it was wasted in a good cause.
A Syrian crime gang that has helped smuggle more than 600 migrants across the Channel has been exposed, as immigration investigators say they are close to taking out its top ranks.
Immigration enforcement officers mounted a dawn raid on the north-west London home of a man, said to be one of the gang’s most senior bankers.
He has allegedly been responsible for laundering hundreds of thousands of pounds from migrants to help finance the crossings from a small ground-floor flat that he shares with his wife and children.

Mosques raided in French crackdown against ‘political Islam’
Charles Bremner
Thursday December 03 2020, 5.00pm,
The Times
Mosques and prayer halls across France have been raided by police as part of what the government has called a crackdown on political Islam.
All 2,600 places of Muslim worship nationwide are due to be inspected with plans to close dozens of them.
Gerald Darmanin, the interior minister, called the raids today in Paris, Lyons, Marseilles and other cities as “a massive and unprecedented action against separatism”.
The right-wing minister, appointed by President Macron in July, is leading an offensive against what Mr Macron calls the separatist doctrines that incite terrorism and hostility towards the French nation and its values.
The drive, started in September and run by the police intelligence service, accelerated after the deaths of four people in two terrorist attacks, including the beheading of Samuel Paty, a school teacher, in the outskirts of Paris.
“Seventy-six mosques suspected of separatism are going to be inspected in the coming days and those that should be closed will be closed,” Mr Darmanin said.
In October the influential Pantin Great Mosque in a poor northern suburb of Paris was closed after it shared a video on its Facebook page before Mr Paty’s attack that vented hatred against him for showing pupils caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
The video, posted by the parent of a pupil, was seen by a Chechen-born 18-year-old in Normandy who went to the school and murdered Mr Paty as he left the premises.
The government has drawn criticism from rights activists and some left-wing campaigners for also closing the Muslim charity BarakaCity and a civil rights group that monitors hate crimes, the Collective Against Islamophobia in France.
Mr Darmanin, whose zeal for law and order has upset many MPs in Mr Macron’s centrist party, La République en Marche, said he had no quarrel with most of France’s six million Muslims. He was aiming at what he called “the enemy within”. These were “concentrated areas, places of worship which are clearly anti-Republican, where imams are followed by the intelligence services and where the discourse runs counter to our values,” he told RTL Radio.
The interior ministry is also responsible for carrying out Mr Macron’s drive to promote a French Islam that would sever links with foreign states that finance many of the country’s mosques, provide their imams and pay for charities and faith teaching. The police crackdown is to spread from places of worship to “the whole ecosystem” of Islam in France, officials said.
Among the measures to enforce compliance with the principles of French citizenship, Mr Macron is creating a “charter of republican values” that all imams will be required to sign in return for state recognition.
The French Muslim Council, which represents nine Muslim associations, is due to meet Mr Macron this week to confirm the text. It will include recognition of France’s strict secularism and gender equality among other so-called republican values as well as rejection of Islam as a political movement and acceptance of a ban on foreign influence.
Despite misgivings, the Muslim council has accepted the principle of the charter. “We do not all agree on what this charter of values is, and what it will contain,” Chems-Eddine Hafiz, the council vice-president and rector of the Paris Grand Mosque, said. But the context of radical Islam and terrorism meant that “we are at a historic turning point for Islam in France, we Muslims are facing our responsibilities”.
Mr Macron has proposed more Arabic-language teaching in state schools and emphasised that he is targeting Islamists who reject France’s laws and values, not Muslims as a whole, but his reassurances have done little to calm an outcry in Pakistan, Turkey and other Muslim countries, where he is being depicted as waging an anti-Muslim crusade.
Paris has brushed off personal attacks on Mr Macron from President Erdogan of Turkey. Mr Macron has also been waging a counter-offensive in western media complaining in interviews and letters to editors that false information is being reported about his anti-radical drive and that France’s tradition of secularism is badly misunderstood, especially by media from English-speaking countries.
Yarden Mariuma, sociologist at Columbia University, writes: “Taqiyya is an Islamic juridical term whose shifting meaning relates to when a Muslim is allowed, under Sharia law, to lie. A concept whose meaning has varied significantly among Islamic sects, scholars, countries, and political regimes, it nevertheless is one of the key terms used by recent anti-Muslim polemicists.

You really want to watch Ms Biteitoffer (and she does look like she bites off a lot of chocolate) from about 1.50 onwards.
If anyone suggested they thought I was in the ‘bottom 50%’ (of what?! intelligence? wealth? social status? right to exist? human genepool?) I don’t think I’d be too keen to ‘engage’ with them either.
Apparently the ‘political right’ has ‘found value in getting people to distrust government’ (does she mean the media? think they’re doing a good job of that themselves), and have therefore been ‘persuaded’ to ‘divest themselves from civic participation’…
I return to my point about describing people as ‘bottom 50%’, really if you want people to: talk to you, agree with you, support you, vote for you, etc… I’d suggest calling them: the ‘bottom 50%’, ‘deplorable’, ‘stupid’, ‘old’, ‘racist’, ‘uneducated’ etc…. is perhaps not the best approach?
“Hey, dad, you stupid, racist, old git, could I ask for an advance on my pocket money this week? I just thought you wouldn’t mind as you’re such an uneducated, ignorant, old cretin? I take it, that’s a ‘no’ then, dad? Dad? I was asking nicely…”
That is right.
Something that really shocked and worried me during the EU referendum campaign was something circulating on social media that suggested that, if you were still undecided about how to vote, you could check out their list of people’s voting intentions (for Remain/Leave) by… age, south/north, educational attainment, social status, etc etc
Eg just basically saying ‘vote Remain and don’t associate yourself with the thickos etc’.
The psychology had the reverse effect on me. I was wavering, but the arrogance of this assisted in pushing me to vote for Leave.
Similarly as I watched the clip of Clinton calling those people deplorable I knew she had lost.

Edith Cavell (1865-1915) was a British nurse, working in German-occupied Belgium during the First World War. She helped hundreds of British, French and Belgian soldiers escape the Germans and was arrested, tried and executed in 1915.
Edith was born in the village of Swardeston, Norfolk. She was the daughter of a rector and worked as a governess in Belgium, before training to be a nurse in London. She worked in hospitals in Shoreditch, Kings Cross and Manchester and then accepted a position in Brussels as Matron in Belgium’s first training hospital and school for nurses. There was no established nursing profession in Belgium at the time of Edith’s appointment, and her pioneering work led her to be considered the founder of modern nursing education in that country. She was in Norfolk visiting her mother when the First World War broke out in 1914. On hearing of the threat to Belgium, from the advancing German troops, she felt it was her duty to return to Brussels immediately.
The dog on the left, “Jack” was rescued after her execution.
By 20 August, Brussels was occupied by the Germans. The nursing school became a Red Cross hospital, treating casualties from both sides, as well as continuing to treat civilians. In September 1914, Edith was asked to help two wounded British soldiers trapped behind German lines following the Battle of Mons. She treated the men in her hospital and then arranged to have them smuggled out of Belgium into the neutral Netherlands. She became part of a network of people who sheltered Allied soldiers and Belgians eligible for military service, arranging their escape. Over the next 11 months she helped around 200 British, French and Belgian soldiers, sheltering them in the hospital and arranging for guides to take them to the border. On 5 August 1915, she was arrested for this activity and placed in solitary confinement in St Gilles Prison in Brussels.
Edith was tried at court martial on 7 October 1915, along with 34 other people involved in or connected to the network. She was found guilty and sentenced to death. She was shot by a firing squad at the Tir National, the Brussels firing range, on 12 October 1915.
Although her execution was legal under international law, it caused outrage in Britain and in many neutral countries, such as the United States. She became a symbol of the Allied cause, and her memory was invoked in recruitment posters and messages in Britain and around the world.
After the war, her body was exhumed and escorted to Britain. A memorial service was held at Westminster Abbey, and she was reburied in Norwich Cathedral.

” he’d lose a shed load of benefits”

Press review addendum…

Moron, Imbecile and Idiot used to be technical terms for different degrees of mental deficiency.
I might be wrong but my impression is that nowadays they are used as insults but in reverse order, i.e. an idiot isn’t as bad as a moron.

Bizarre.

The UK government’s illogical attitude towards Covid safety
In South Africa people would tell stories of coming home in a rain storm
and finding the garden boy in a raincoat and hat watering the plants.
“It’s 4pm, maam I always water the plants at 4pm”
We have Garden Boy Boris failing to acknowledge that we have had 5 million people who’ve survived Covid
and treating them as if they have zero immunity.

Today that beacon of British values, John Grace of the Guardian takes up the baton to pour scorn on anyone feeling remotely proud of their Country….
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/dec/03/manchild-gavin-williamson-plumbs-new-depths-of-stupidity-with-vaccine-drivel
Grace says…
“Much to everyone’s surprise, we have learned that Boris Johnson can – just occasionally – engage his brain before speaking.”
“Just imagine. A prime minister known for being a lying, opportunistic chancer actually decided to tell the truth for once.”
Of Williamson he says
“You’d have thought that Williamson might want to cut his losses at that point and try to steer the conversation back to his department’s plans to make exams easier next year. Or failing that, plans to admit girls to Eton: something that may have led to some unwanted pregnancies in Boris’s time.”
Bordering on libel I would have though?
And all this because Gavin Williamson welcomed the speed the UK are getting the vaccine up and running in this Country and thereby leading other Counties, (The EU especially!).
Grace is less than nice about Williamson, almost resorting to playground bullying and chanting in his spitting hatred.
Just another sulking Remainer spewing bile like a child who can’t have some sweets….
As Pike who Grace compares to Williamson, would have said “They don’t like it up ’em!”
Complete Tossers and what a rag the Guardian has become!

Why Donald Trump keeps outperforming the polls

And it’s when I stopped identifying as left-wing after 30 years.

Who Was Edith Cavell?

Here’s another huge story for the BBC to ignore: the CIA, FBI, MSM and various institutions were complicit in propagating the anti-Trump ‘RussiaGate’ hoax that they knew to be a lie originating from Clinton, with Obama’s knowledge.
Has there ever been a time in history when the BBC has wilfully ignored so many huge scandals out of partisanship?
Defund the BBC, now!
