They are completely unable to relate their internal logic to that of the real world or grasp the concept of making balanced compromise decisions when theory meets the ambiguity of reality. They were all eventually migrated to positions which didn’t actually deliver anything concrete but produced lots of paperwork (like quality control).

China Is National Security Threat No. 1

(Op-Ed Piece in the Wall Street Journal.)

Resisting Beijing’s attempt to reshape and dominate the world is the challenge of our generation.

    By John Ratcliffe
    Dec. 3, 2020 1:20 pm ET

As Director of National Intelligence, I am entrusted with access to more intelligence than any member of the U.S. government other than the President. I oversee the intelligence agencies, and my office produces the President’s Daily Brief detailing the threats facing the country. If I could communicate one thing to the American people from this unique vantage point, it is that the People’s Republic of China poses the greatest threat to America today, and the greatest threat to democracy and freedom world-wide since World War II.

The intelligence is clear: Beijing intends to dominate the U.S. and the rest of the planet economically, militarily and technologically. Many of China’s major public initiatives and prominent companies offer only a layer of camouflage to the activities of the Chinese Communist Party.

I call its approach of economic espionage “rob, replicate and replace.” China robs U.S. companies of their intellectual property, replicates the technology, and then replaces the U.S. firms in the global marketplace.

Take Sinovel. In 2018 a federal jury found the Chinese wind-turbine manufacturer guilty of stealing trade secrets from American Superconductor. Penalties were imposed but the damage was done. The theft resulted in the U.S. company losing more than $1 billion in shareholder value and cutting 700 jobs. Today Sinovel sells wind turbines world-wide as if it built a legitimate business through ingenuity and hard work rather than theft.

The FBI frequently arrests Chinese nationals for stealing research-and-development secrets. Until the head of Harvard’s Chemistry Department was arrested earlier this year, China was allegedly paying him $50,000 a month as part of a plan to attract top scientists and reward them for stealing information. The professor has pleaded not guilty to making false statements to U.S. authorities. Three scientists were ousted in 2019 from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston over concerns about China’s theft of cancer research.

The U.S. government estimates that China’s intellectual-property theft costs America as much as $500 billion a year, or between $4,000 and $6,000 per U.S. household.

China also steals sensitive U.S. defense technology to fuel President Xi Jinping’s aggressive plan to make China the world’s foremost military power. U.S. intelligence shows that China has even conducted human testing on members of the People’s Liberation Army in hope of developing soldiers with biologically enhanced capabilities. There are no ethical boundaries to Beijing’s pursuit of power.

China is also developing world-class capabilities in emerging technologies. Its intelligence services use their access to tech firms such as Huawei to enable malicious activities, including the introduction of vulnerabilities into software and equipment. Huawei and other Chinese firms deny this, but China’s efforts to dominate 5G telecommunications will only increase Beijing’s opportunities to collect intelligence, disrupt communications and threaten user privacy world-wide. I have personally told U.S. allies that using such Chinese-owned technology will severely limit America’s ability to share vital intelligence with them.

China already suppresses U.S. web content that threatens the Communist Party’s ideological control, and it is developing offensive cyber capabilities against the U.S. homeland. This year China engaged in a massive influence campaign that included targeting several dozen members of Congress and congressional aides.

Consider this scenario: A Chinese-owned manufacturing facility in the U.S. employs several thousand Americans. One day, the plant’s union leader is approached by a representative of the Chinese firm. The businessman explains that the local congresswoman is taking a hard-line position on legislation that runs counter to Beijing’s interests—even though it has nothing to do with the industry the company is involved in—and says the union leader must urge her to shift positions or the plant and all its jobs will soon be gone.

The union leader contacts his congresswoman and indicates that his members won’t support her re-election without a change in position. He tells himself he’s protecting his members, but in that moment he’s doing China’s bidding, and the congresswoman is being influenced by China, whether she realizes it or not.

Our intelligence shows that Beijing regularly directs this type of influence operation in the U.S. I briefed the House and Senate Intelligence committees that China is targeting members of Congress with six times the frequency of Russia and 12 times the frequency of Iran.

To address these threats and more, I have shifted resources inside the $85 billion annual intelligence budget to increase the focus on China. This shift must continue to ensure U.S. intelligence has the resources it needs to give policy makers unvarnished insights into China’s intentions and activities.

Within intelligence agencies, a healthy debate and shift in thinking is already under way. For the talented intelligence analysts and operators who came up during the Cold War, the Soviet Union and Russia have always been the focus. For others who rose through the ranks at the turn of this century, counterterrorism has been top of mind. But today we must look with clear eyes at the facts in front of us, which make plain that China should be America’s primary national security focus going forward.

Other nations must understand this is true for them as well. The world is being presented a choice between two wholly incompatible ideologies. China’s leaders seek to subordinate the rights of the individual to the will of the Communist Party. They exert government control over companies and subvert the privacy and freedom of their citizens with an authoritarian surveillance state.

We shouldn’t assume that Beijing’s efforts to drag the world back into the dark will fail just because the forces of good have triumphed before in modern times. China believes that a global order without it at the top is a historical aberration. It aims to change that and reverse the spread of liberty around the world.

Beijing is preparing for an open-ended period of confrontation with the U.S. Washington should also be prepared. Leaders must work across partisan divides to understand the threat, speak about it openly, and take action to address it.

This is our once-in-a-generation challenge. Americans have always risen to the moment, from defeating the scourge of fascism to bringing down the Iron Curtain. This generation will be judged by its response to China’s effort to reshape the world in its own image and replace America as the dominant superpower. The intelligence is clear. Our response must be as well.

Mr. Ratcliffe is U.S. Director of National Intelligence.

Great article. Why are more countries not taking this threat seriously?
Well, partly because the Chinese know they can buy most Western politicians and organisations. Look at the Universities..Cambridge best example
And China has a long term strategy – the West doesn’t apart from destroying its own culture..

Stop buying cheap Chinese crap is a good start, start investing in more local industries – make them world class.

I have been trying to buy British tools and almost without exception it is impossible..and what do the manufacturers say…there is no market…WTF. The Chinese are making and selling them – so there is a market..it just you haven’t invested but shipped manufacture all overseas to make a short term buck…

Just reading the BBC report on the nutter behind the Christchurch shootings.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-55211468
What strikes me the most of all about this is that I have NEVER seen such an in-depth analysis into motivation and background for such an attack in a single one of the dozens of Islamic terrorist massacres. And this is from nearly 2 years ago. The word ‘Muslim’ appears 8 times. It has not been used one single time in any report I have seen (and I check them all) of an Islamic terrorist attack – where it is absolutely relevant as it is their entire motivation.
In fact, it wouldn’t even qualify as a terrorist attack by the standards applied to them. It is only ‘terror related’ when it is confirmed to be on behalf of a larger terrorist organisation.
It’s the cold-blooded and deliberate hypocrisy which bothers me the most about the Left. Just what is their motivation to be so lop-sided ?.
Is it simply to spite and bait their political enemies ?. Or is it a kind of self-loathing and guilt for being white ?.

      Manchester Arena attack ‘unpreventable’

A public inquiry into the Manchester Arena child slaughter has found that the media-obsessed security services of the U.K. were too focused on not being accused of Islamaphobia and ignored the far greater threat to actual life and limb. Faith supremacists conspired to and killed scores of people, and various inquiries have come and gone, skirted real issues and been given cursory cover by MSM with highly diverse staff proportions and many cousins. Maintaining those failures should make such continued attacks likely and indeed more frequent, it determined. In fact as ME Faith leaders ask what on Earth is going on here in mosques, and the extent of the lone wolf pack vs. solo undetectable nutters is actually admitted currently, the national broadcasters will point anywhere else they can find and cite any daft distraction possible.

Kids will be kids. Imams will be imams. Pols will be cowards. Media will drive divisiveness. As ever.

A bloke the BBC knows but won’t talk to, might think the report confirmed the establishment has been overly deferential to the radical Muslim community instead of shining a light on it and offering it every platform opportunity to propagandise.

I can paste what was actually posted by the national broadcaster if anyone would like to see it.

          Mosque attack ‘unpreventable’

A public inquiry into the Christchurch massacre* has found that New Zealand’s security services were too focused on the threat from Islamist extremism and ignored the far right. White supremacist Brenton Tarrant killed 51 people at two mosques in March 2019, and the inquiry criticised authorities for failing to enforce proper checks on firearms licences, which allowed him to accumulate a massive arsenal of weapons. However, correcting those failures wouldn’t have made it possible to prevent the attack, it determined.

The imam of the Al Noor Mosque, one of the two targeted, said the report confirmed authorities had been overly suspicious of the Muslim community instead of protecting it.

It’s just unannounced (secret ) government policy to encourage the MSM to non – or under report of the problems the Muslims they invited into the UK rather than confront them –
So pages of comments land up on sites like this one -of non reporting – under reporting – treating them as ‘victims ‘ instead of doing what is right – meanwhile their victim numbers rise along with their political control. Simple .

I don’t know this as a provable fact – but by deduction based on their behaviour …

I’m sure there is some part of Christchurch NZ twinned with Rotherham – and they’ll really be looking the other way …

What that shameless BBC fail to mention about the imam from Finsbury park who was ‘praised for his response to an attack outside a mosque in London’ is that he stood guard over the nutter who did it to stop the rest of the stone-age barbarians from murdering the guy on the spot. Not one angry man : all of them. They are the real face of Islam. This man was just clever enough to realise the repercussions if they beat him to death and 20 of them went to court for murder.
Same as the ‘hero’ who carried the white protester away from the BLM thugs.

How many Muslim terrorists killers in New Zealand would one expect compared to general nutter killers from the background non-Muslim population ?

Bottomline there are probably 4 million of them vs 50,000 Muslims

So of course the vast majority of measures should be devoted to non-Muslims.

The claim to be first UK patient to receive a covid jab is a purely notional prize – afterall, there have already been extensive trials of the vaccine on human guinea pigs, right?

However, our press are exicted because, I guess, it is emblematic of something or other?

The BBC’s on-line news celebrates Margaret Keenan being given the vaccine by May Parsons, a nurse at University Hospital in Coventry. The BBC’s 90-year-old old dear we are told was given the injection at 06:31 GMT – pretty precise. And good luck to her.

Confusingly, The Times, The Telegraph, the ‘i’ and the freebie Metro would have us celebrate: ‘Ranjan and Hari Shukla’ as pioneering prioritised covid jab pin cushions.

    Britain’s future is ethnic.

Read carefully and we find this elderly couple may not, in fact, be the very first among equals today offering up their arms to the needle but are: ‘among the first patients to receive the jab today’ – I guess they were the only ones who forgot to tick the box marked “no publicity”?

So what’s so special about these people? The Telegraph explains of Dr Hari Shukla: ‘The 87-year-old, a former director of the Tyne and Wear Racial Equality Council…’

So, seems it’s not me that’s making some racial point here.

‘We’re delighted to do duty today say history makers’ (Metro)

I picked up a Metro the other day. I was intrigued by the source of the advertising which is the life blood of this giveaway paper. Afterall, he who pays the piper calls the tune. Most quarterpage ads were from various supermarkets then in the sports pages the betting companies predominated. Two full colour full page advertisements were taken by HM Government. NHS-themed, these adverts extolled us to either do something or refrain from doing something about this supposed pandemic. One would hope the civil servants bargained for some favourable mate’s rates for these ads – but one doubts it. I reckon tax payers stumped up the full whack.

Our press do love to put an ethnic face on the frontpage – especially if it fronts some campaign or other. An absolute classic of the genre appears in the Guardian today: ‘Toxic air inquest. Mother tells court of Ella’s final hours’ – were you wondering how on earth the government might justify robbing you of your petrol motorcar? Meet Ella, she’s black, cute, and she may not be alive and prone to growing up and making bonkers outbursts like our Greta – but all the better for that.

In other news… as the Daily Mail points out: ‘1,629 days after Brexit vote, with talks still STILL deadlocked, Boris set for Brussels showdown in… Last call for a deal’

What lesson do we draw from this?

I’m convinced politicians of all stripes will be telling themselves never again will we ever offer the public an option we don’t approve – just in case they vote for it.

Bob Dylan makes the frontpage of the Financial Times. Seems the former archetypal 60s counter culture tamborine man has sold out big time, to the man.

The Telegraph also features: ‘Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan sells 60 years’ worth of songs’

How much bread are we talking here? ‘Bob Dylan’s £225m Christmas bonus’ – according to the ‘i’

There’s no more heroes anymore – as British punk rockers the Stranglers warned us back in ’77.

So where are the counter cultural voices these days? Who are the heroes not yet co-opted into governmental Green Tax or multicultural compliance campaigns?

The prize for today’s one, rather quiet, exceedingly polite complaint goes to Julia Donaldson in the Telegraph: ‘Masks are very unfair to the hard of hearing like me’

    A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall

Herefordhire Poll – Was farmer John Price right to take action and dredge the River Lugg?
    51% to 49% from 9,000 That’s in the Farmer’s Weekly

Basically it’s the villagers vs the GuardianMob
The parish council said it had a dialogue with the Environment Agency
“A site meeting with the Environment Agency in September 2020 identified issues near the bridge and the Environment Agency subsequently wrote that ‘the left-hand bank directly upstream of the bridge could do with some reprofiling due to bank slumping… to ease conveyance as it is currently partially obstructing the third arch of the bridge and will look to the landowner to carry out these works’.
“Another issue highlighted by the Environment Agency was ‘a build-up of silt and growth, mostly Himalayan balsam, on both the upstream and downstream sides’.
“The parish council supports work to improve the River Lugg that is undertaken at the direction and instigation of the Environment Agency and is in line with the appropriate guidelines, regulations and processes that may be applicable,” it added.

Potato and cattle farmer John Price said homes in Kingsland, near Leominster, were damaged in last year’s floods and he decided to act because the Environment Agency had not carried out dredging work on the blocked river for years.

Mr Price, 66, said he has the support of the parish council and local residents whose homes were devastated by Storm Dennis last February.

The Guardianmob argued that the river was the prettiest river in the whole world.

Just to add to the mix – the chairman of a club called ‘Colchester united ‘ is threatening to banish those booing as the idiots on the field kneel down . So all those months of clubs pleading for money and getting the paying plebs back in meant nothing ….you kind of home a club like that would be bought it it’s knees and go bust …..

Yes it’s dire, predictable but dire. The way forward of course is for fans to boycott the matches until football comes to its senses. But they won’t , at least not in large enough numbers to hurt the club’s finances shaky as they are. Like so many assaults on our culture this will be absorbed and people will shrug and tell themselves its only a little thing that doesn’t really do any harm.
People in the UK remind me of the metaphorical frog in pan of initially cold water on a stove only realising far too late that it needs to get out as the temperature rises. Folks will eventually wake up and realise that they live in a non white country with values very different to those which they grew up with and with a secret police who will suppress any form of protest. But they will have only themselves to blame , they will have let it happen to themselves over a period of several decades.

Add to the above a young man says that young people now don’t believe in the concept of patriotism and respect for this Nations history and the dead of such irritating things as WW1 and WW2. It just gets in the way of progress and diversity.

He claims organisations like BLM will kill off these outdated attitudes.

Made me wonder what would happen if for instance Russia decided to surge across Europe and he found himself with a gun in a trench, like it or not… Like those hundreds of thousands of men around his age in 1940.

Once more I find myself in the position of apologising to to the memory all those brave men and women many of whom had no choice unlike this specimen..

I realise that if this concept was put to him it would be rejected with a sneer of blasé contempt.

Our BBC haven’t mentioned Burley’s behaviour. Of course not. She and Sky are anti-Brexit and part of the BBC clan.

What on earth has ‘an apology’ got to do with it?

The damage has been done, she’s possibly spread the Covid around already, putting older folk like me at risk, so Sky should do the right thing and get rid of her; she’s a menace.

Of course, they won’t and yet another poor sleb-style autocue-reader gets away with it!

O/T Pensioner neighbours mobile phones have got switched off.
They keep 3 PAYG mobiles for when they go out, and never use them otherwise.
Cos they haven’t been out properly since lockdown the 6 month date has passed
and EE/Vodafone say their numbers have gone
and they have to get new sims and register them at the shop.

Now Vodafone say that from Jan 1st the minimum charge will be £1 each day you make a call,
but all calls in that day will be included in that £1
So for them calling to say
    “I’m back at the car”
will cost them £1 each time they go to the big shops etc.

I fear Boros has given in on everything.

He will try to spin it as a good deal but in reality will have got nothing (as usual) from the eu.

We have (or had) all the cards. We on here all know this (trade imbalance in their favour, our fish, our huge payments and so much more)

If he has capitulated, taken the knee for the eu, I hope there’s mass protests, seriously extreme ones.
They’ve spent all the time since the Brexit vote trying to cheat us out of our decision.

If they somehow get another vote I expect they will use the dominion machines to make sure it goes the way they want it to.

“In view of these mutually agreed solutions, the UK will withdraw clauses 44, 45 and 47 of the UK Internal Market Bill, and not introduce any similar provisions in the Taxation Bill.”

A few historical feeble illustrations, Ancient Rome etc. etc.

    Then
:This happened a lot during the 2016 US presidential election, where fake news about the candidates spread and could have influenced the public on how they voted.

As fake news became more widespread, the term itself began to change. Politicians began to use the phrase to attack news organisations they disagreed with, accusing them of being the ones who spread fake news. By calling real news ‘fake news’, it allowed real ‘fake news’ to get more attention as people didn’t know who to trust – very confusing!”

But which modern day character could they possibly use to illustrate this?

ermmm…… now let me think, oh yes I know…

Ofcom are a bit worried that this might put pressure on the likes of the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, STV, SC4 and Channel 5

    Bloody hope so!

They mention that programs like The Great British Bake Off might suffer which is one of their least offensive and biased productions, and this simply for the reason I believe to throw a frightener to fans of the show.

They don’t mention any threat to partisan political slots or the main news slots that the BBC use relentlessly to push their left, diverse and woke agenda of course which ought to be the main reason the outfit exists all.
