Tho a neighbour who is in management for mental health teams down south
say they see Covid all over the place
so is that where it is ? among drug addict and mental patients etc.
I am very grateful to the BBC and its Prime Minister who inform me that in a short while it will be possible to have coffee with a friend.
Oh thank you so much.
Jo Whiley story just got another mention
“Oh why am I being given a vaccination before my vulnerable sister ”
BTW she said in the original report
that it’s probably that she is registered as her sister’s carer
and the carers are allocated before person being cared for… makes sense.
The BBC and Sky have been the two biggest cheer leaders for lockdown from the beginning. Any of us could write their script. It’s always the same variation of “Why didn’t you lockdown sooner/harder/longer?” With the inevitable follow up “Do you think your inaction has cost lives?” They are truly pathetic…
However, much as I despise these media parasites, the buck stops with Boris. He’s been “led by the science” for so long it’s sometimes difficult to remember that he’s actually the prime minister. He hasn’t had the guts to stand up to either the media or SAGE. He’s been indecisive, cowardly and allowed himself to be bullied.
Just ask yourselves, would Mrs Thatcher have locked down the populace and tanked the economy because she was frightened of a nasty virus or some tough questions?
We all know the answer…
We’d have taken sensible precautions, similar to the way things started prior to the national panic
And she’d have had Laura, Beth and that scruffy little git from ITV on toast.
NASA have done a fantastic job with their Mars mission. ????
But, the NASA broadcast on the day of the landing was a ‘wokefest’, with loads of croaky women crowing but with men in the minority. This was despite the vital Control Room being 90% men.
NASA made a broadcast this evening which I followed. Gone were the croaky snowflake media wimmin. We now had men talking about the realities and demands of the mission. Perhaps the dust had now literally settled?
But, it was all spoiled by a chap called Thomas with a north European accent. He was some sort of Project Leader and wore a dark suit with a tie-less white shirt, the badge of the Left. (He reminded me of Dr Strangelove).
He was in a separate room to the minions. He spoke of women and men, not men and women. He spoke of diversity. A shot was shown of the mission crew gathered together. 20% had taken the knee for no reason other than that a camera was there.
The BBC would have loved this.
There was a real diversity moment which I did appreciate. A visually impaired person was concerned that she could not mentally connect with the Mars mission images. It was decided that a microphone should be fitted to the Mars Lander. The devices were bought from local suppliers, as were the cameras. Capitalism in action, I think!
The sound of Mars was very spooky and worth sending.
Has it sent back data stating it’s the detected life yet? Covid. The Martian variant.
Can’t be far away and SAGE will state the jab is not effective and we need to be locked down until Septmber.
The buffoon masquerading as PM will blindly follow their lead, after of course the BBC shrill for more to have been done earlier about the threat from Mars.
The good old Just A Minute at 6.30pm ( repeats Sunday at midday) is determined to give a slow agonising death .
Tony Hawkes thinks Make America Great Again and Take Back Control are stupid thoughts .
Then , as though his script can’t be updated beyond 2015 , a go at ….. come on you know what’s coming … TRUMP .
Then another panellist , Giles Brandreth , made light about the BBC aren’t always doing left wing comedy .
This is a meme I’ve noticed lately on the BBC comedies . They poke fun of themselves, for once , about their bias . But they’re poking more fun at at the millions of decent people who are forced to pay for their bias but can’t do anything about it .
So it’s yes , ho ho , you say we’re biased , but look , ha ha ,we prove we’re not , hee hee , because we mentioned it , guffaws, so it’s not us , snigger, it’s you .
[ but the in joke amongst themselves is they know they are and think they can hide their bias in plain sight ] .
A bit like the Monty Python centurion in Life Of Brian who gives all those roped to a Cross a chance to say they would prefer not if they raise their arms .
June!
But It’s only February..
What happened to the masks / vaccinations/ social distancing effectiveness etc

I hope hot spring weather comes nice early to rally the population to test these dictators.
meanwhile David Allan writes yesterday, after many years, I finally switched off “The Archers”.
It has been on increasingly thin ice for years but yesterday’s propaganda on man-made climate change was the last straw.
The Beeb really is losing it.
Yes me too. I’ve been an Archers addict since I was in short trousers. But it’s been getting progressively wokified for over a decade. I’ve had enough. It’s supposed to be an everyday story of countryfolk, not a vehicle for green/gay/identity politics. Give us a break.
Like all BBC products, be they comedy, current affairs or drama, they’ve become little more than lectures rather than entertainment.
Senora O’Blene gave up with the tiresome ‘stories’ several years ago. She’d been an addict for many years, but when the silly woke-fest yarns came in, and the wrong sort of writers got hold of the scripts, it became a waste of space to her, which is a shame, as she was brought up on decent stories from ‘The Bull’, and Dan’s one-egg-or-two!
We still enact two scenes at home (after several tinctures), Grace’s stable bit and John Tregorran becoming a normal person!
The BBC seem to hate their listeners, and class them the same as statues to be demolished.
I listened to The Archers omnibus yesterday evening whilst at work and must admit I did question myself should I carry on being a loyal listener? Eddie Grundy’s granddaughter lecturing him (and us) about veganism,Ruairi coming out as bi and the slavery story line still ongoing.
For those that don’t listen I hear you saying ‘slavery in the Archers? Eastern European fruit pickers and their gangmasters? Gypsies? NO it’s Philip Moss your friendly local white welsh builder! Don’t worry though he’s been caught not before selling them on to some posh lady called Victoria…as if!
What with that and witnessing Ski Sunday the evening before god knows what my blood pressure must be right now!
Our blood pressure is much lowered by avoiding all the dross the awful BBC spout now, Nodding D!
For us, it’s ‘Turtles Progress’ (John Landry and Michael Attwell), soon to be followed by ‘The Paradise Club’ (Don Henderson and Leslie Grantham), and ‘Roger Roger’ (Robert Daws)!
There is no conclusive evidence and proof that the current vaccination roll out across the UK is reducing mortality or admissions. Consider, the facts. Firstly a single vaccination dose is insufficient and does not give protection against Sars-cov-2 nor can it prevent one acquiring an infection or transmitting covid-19. Moreover the UK government’s altering of the vaccination interval form 3 -12 weeks between vaccinations goes against the manufacturer’s user instructions and also compromises the temporary emergency approval as regulatory approval albeit only for a year was under condition vaccination doses were administered as per the trials.
As a previous article in BMJ discussed, the original clinical trials were never designed to show vaccines save lives, reduce hospital admissions, improve health outcomes. For that you need a long term follow up phase IV study/ health economic study.
Consider also over 100,000 have already died during the pandemic due to lack of appropriate public health control measures, PPE, inadequate test track and trace. These comprised the most at risk and vulnerable in the population, many were elderly frail care home residents and hospital patients with underlying conditions. Therefore there are fewer vulnerable at risk people left still alive in the population.
I would argue that any reduction in hospital admissions is mainly due to fewer of these vulnerable at risk people left alive after the devastating epidemic last year, in addition diagnosis and treatment of patients with Covid-19 was in its infancy in 2020, today much has been learnt in diagnosing and treating it with new medication, with improved recovery and hence reduced mortality.
Finally, consider also that hospital readmissions have increased for many of those those patients who have recovered from Covid-19 and have now developed “long Covid” issues or have had their underlying conditions subsequently exacerbated.
Lockdown until mid-summer then people, with the caveat that if more variants appear then there is chance that restrictions will have to be maintained. Meanwhile the economy is clinically dead.
Someone asked earlier what the alternative was to the outgoing PM, Doris the great dictator.
I’d offer anyone. Farage would be a choice, or perhaps a Gerald Batten.
At least with Corbin we knew what we’d get at the last election, if heaven forbid he did get the keys to number 10.
With Boris no one realised we were getting a useless cowardly spineless jellyfish that has more u turns than a NASCAR race track and be incapable of making of making a descison for better or worse and sticking with it.
A 60 page road map to guide us out of lockdown, really. 6 pages would have been plenty with the primary instruction to his Health Secretary to sort the NHS and Public Health Scientists and get a grip in the next 6 weeks and start protecting the population.
BBC London article Racist attacks on police officers nearly doubled in a year, according to new figures.
..Doh such magic stats are almost fakenews
that come out of new counting methods etc.
More than 1,200 attacks on officers were linked to a “racial hate crime” in the 12 months up to November 2020, Met Police statistics show.
Offences ranged from harassment to causing grievous bodily harm and follow 638 attacks in the previous year.
Maybe something like including a tweet as an attack etc.
London mayor Sadiq Khan said: “Attacks of any kind on our hardworking police officers are completely unacceptable.”
The report does say “black officers”
Otherwise I’d wonder if they meant racism from non-whites to white officers
Absolutely typical BBC article.
Their standard trick is to present some facts then interwieve their own agenda with unsubstantiated and vague inferences with no actual evidence hoping you assume it is all fact.
These quotes stood out:
‘Black officers were singled out for abuse during the [BLM] protests,’
Sorry – but everything I saw was black people targeting the police. And they certainly wouldn’t single out the black ones. Perhaps there was the odd isolated incident elsewhere as a result.
‘a series of high-profile events that turned into confrontations had “contributed” to the increase, including protests by Black Lives Matter and far-right groups’
They just can’t mention anything about BLM without trying to tar some white people with the same brush and makes us think they are all as bad as each other. I presume they are referring to the people protecting the statues with this one.
They MUST know how many black and white officers have been assaulted. The fact they won’t tell us makes it VERY clear they were mostly whites attacked by blacks.
At least they showed the uncropped version of the picture of the black guy wielding the wooden club at the police line. But I suspect that was deliberate for the bias-checkers to limit the damage caused when they cropped it in the first place.
Well worth the 21 mins or so.
The latter made a point that he believed people were born with a default ‘leftish’ leaning, only developing a right wing view when they mature / age. Interesting concept. Could account for the progressive increase in BBC’s ‘leftism’ – all youth, no real experience apart from, of course the requirement of a Marxist upbringing at ‘Uni’.

Yes, but it’s a ‘circular road’.
All the people at risk have had a “jab”, that’s the ones that want one. They can take their own care and safety. I am afraid that Boris will move the goalposts yet again?
Parliament is full of career politicians, like actors and Al Beeb workers, they have never done a real job or run a business.

Up until Bidens inauguration there had been 400000 deaths from/with/traced in some obscure way involving COVID, yet only 1 month later another 100000 people have died ????
You can imagine if that was The orange man – he would have literally killed 100k in a month but nothing about Biden being in office and overseeing a huge number of deaths in a month.
And of course, typical to the cesspit organisation’s form, a picture of a grieving family over a coffin – BAME… yet 61.4% of deaths were white and only 14.8% were black according to us statistics site statista.com
TOADY Watch #1 – mixed messages normally confuse the BBC, why not now?
A few months ago, when the goalposts were scientifically re-aligned at the behest of SAGE, the BBC were ‘confused’, ostensibly on behalf of the nation, but in reality in opposition to the Government. Not opposition to SAGE but a Conservative Government. “It was all too complicated to understand.” said the BBC.
Yesterday and in the day or two leading up to ‘the road map’ out of Pandemic restrictions for just England, the PM was saying “… guided by the data not dates …”. The data shows Covid infections have gone through the floor but the road to restrictions removal is a long and winding one. It is also “irreversible” but “may need to be changed.”
The PM is in a muddle. Must be something to do with his head having Greek myths and scientific SAGE advice colliding underneath his haircut; then there’s Dilyn yapping in one ear and Carrie and Wilf yapping in the other, when he gets home at night. Tough job but he wanted to do it.
Under Mr Johnson’s plan, international travel will not return until 17 May at the earliest – but that hasn’t put people off booking. Tui reported their best day of bookings in over a month, with strong interest in Greece, Spain and Turkey for the summer. Thomas Cook said traffic to its website was up over 100% on Monday from 15:00 GMT onwards. EasyJet also reported a 337% surge in flight bookings and a 630% jump in holiday bookings. Mr Johnson said a global travel taskforce would put forward a report on how to return to international travel on 12 April.

We’re supposed to be going to Port de Pollenca, Majorca in early August. Booked in August 2019 for July 2020, I rearranged it in April 2020 thinking that everything would be pretty much sorted by now.
My wife and daughters are looking forward to it, I am not, I don’t want to go, but as nothing was outlined in anyway clearly by Johnson I think that we’ll lose our money if we don’t go to Spain even though we have no idea what is really going on there either.
I watched Boris’ performance in the HoC on YT. Looked shabby in a partly crumpled suit with unkempt hair reminiscent of a person sleeping on a roll of cardboard in some High Street shop doorway.

Why is Boris Johnson being cautious?
His calculation is that people, after all this time, will prefer certainty over haste.
That’s why the prime minister won’t be persuaded to go faster by some of his own restless backbenches.
That’s why other parts of government – even those eager to pull back restrictions, worried about the costs of all this – concede to hurry would be wrong this time.
And that’s why Mr Johnson, right now at least, is playing the role of a leader for whom caution is number one.
A mantle this long pandemic has lent him – and a political persona that would have been almost impossible to imagine last year.

We’ll leave it to irreverent tabloid the Daily Star to summarise for us the headmaster’s recent announcement of the school timetable for us errant and sickly kids: ‘Bozo Johnson surprised the country last night with a vaguely sensible road map out of lockdown. Crazy times indeed‘
Indeed. The Star, in lockstep with the rest of the press pack, print the dairy notes for us on the front page with all the red letter days highlighted culminating on: ‘June 21: Like it was all a bad dream‘ – well, we’ll see about that.
I’m none too sure there’s any going back after this enormous alteration in the relationship between government public health policy and our democratic – indeed, our human – freedoms.
Now we know a government may postpone elections, control the media, outlaw social gatherings and ban certain unapproved demonstrations – all under the pretext of a health scare, do we imagine failing politicians won’t be tempted to conjure up another virus?
Putting the case less conspiratorially: Can government ever now withstand an opposition or an oppositionally-minded media exciting a fearful population with some new health scare?
We get the politicians we deserve. I guess we’ve made our Heath and Safety first Protect the NHS bed, now we’re going to have to lie in it.
We may all be sick with cancers, heart disease, depression, lack of exercise and Zoom screen fatigue… and grandad popped his cloggs in his mid-eighties… just like we knew he was going to – but at least we’ve still got our pristine neat NHS hospital bed corners to admire – from a distance.
‘UK unemployment rate rises to 5.1%’ – or so we’re told by the BBC.
Our Financial Times however, is more interested in a: ‘Budget to extend support‘ – a notion the FT appears to justify with the vague: ‘Fears of 30,000 more deaths‘
And it wouldn’t be the globalist FT if it didn’t provide us with two minutes of hate as focused for us on a pic of: ‘Vladimir Putin, the Russian President and Alexander Lukashenko, his Belarusian counterpart, ride snowmobiles after talks in the ski resort of Sochi‘
Let’s try to guess what they were chatting about. You know the game, Have I Got News For You, style:
“Hey Vlad, what’s all this decadent western Global Warming bollokovski about then, comrade?” “No idea, Alex tavarish. Do you like my snow mobiles? Bought them with oil pipeline profits paid for by Merkel” “Great foresight comrade, that Trabant we gifted to her old dad back in the DDR days was a really great investment” “Race you once round the gulag and back to the dacha for vodka and caviar. I’ve got the final season of Game of Thrones on dvd – it’s a bit disappointing apparently, but we’ll make a party of it. Better tidy up early tomorrow morning though, and get all the girls out of sight, I’ve got the Iranian mullahs coming over”
AISI “Now we know a government may postpone elections, control the media, outlaw social gatherings and ban certain unapproved demonstrations – all under the pretext of a health scare, do we imagine failing politicians won’t be tempted to conjure up another virus?”
Do we imagine failing politicians and failing Civil Serpents and failing NHS executives and failing SAGE members and failing Teaching Unions leaders won’t be tempted to conjure up another virus?
I think that must be ‘an odds-on favourite’ for next September or October. I think I heard it suggested by the BBC this morning that new Covid infections in the USA were due to the UK virus mutations. I am sure ‘An Inconvenient Mutation’ [ see what I did there? 😉 ] can be conjured up just in time.

Regarding this achingly pc virtue signalling woke headmaster who changed the house names so that he looked good to other people after receiving ONE complaint because the house names were named after British heroes that somebody didn’t approve of.
What if he now got a couple of hundred complaints from normal people who want the houses changed back to the original names.
Actually, we know the answer. Nothing will happen.
I remember when pc was starting. Mother in law jokes were banned about 40 years ago and true to lefty form, they got their victory and then demanded more and more until we’ve reached this surreal state.
As for the bbbc. On bbbc radio newcastle yesterday before Boris’ roadmap they had a series of vox pops on. Strangely, all of them coincided with the bbbc’s political stance on very slowly coming out of the lockdown they love so much.
I wonder how many Vox pops they had to take to be able to pick out the half dozen to broadcast, the ones which they approved of.
When I was at primary school our house names were those of the national saints. I don’t remember being taught anything about any of those saints at the time so in a sense they were just names.
However they were to the children, as they say now problematical, because many of us were immigrants of the old sort, having Scots, Irish and Welsh parents who had moved to England for war, love or work. I was a bit upset that I was in the ‘wrong’ house but my mum said it was OK because my grandmother had been of that nationality.
In our secondary school our house names were those of ‘famous’ men. Again no-one bothered to tell us why they were famous so we weren’t bothered either. To this day I have no idea who two of those men were. (Of the two that I did know I knew of them before going to that school. One had been a chemist, the other a manufacturer).
I was going to say that in both schools we sometimes showed our house by wearing a plain coloured round badge so we might just as well have used the colour as our house name, but that would be problematic now as one was (shoosh) white!.
Just read the difference in tone about the number of COVID deaths in the USA now Biden is President:
Covid: Biden calls 500,000 death toll a ‘heartbreaking milestone’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56159756
It’s absolutely disgusting compared to what they said when Trump was in charge. The phrase ‘highest number of deaths in the world’ has been completely dropped now. And they are actually trying to say that the success of the vaccination program is down to Joe !!.
And of course no BBC COVID report is complete without telling us how black people are suffering the most without going near the subject of why.
The accompanying picture of a COVID funeral is – of course – a black family.
I really am sick to the back teeth of their double standards and hypocrisy.
Radio 5 Live interviewing another ‘expert’ at about 8:20am this morning.
He was saying we shouldn’t go back to the way we lived before and it is time we changed our behaviour.
He didn’t go into detail but I’m hearing more like this from the BBC in the last few days. Chip, chip away and use any excuse for more control, less freedom with the end goal of socialism.
Between 1791-1917 Jews were allowed to live in , under
duress in the ” Pale of Settlement ” by their Russian masters.
It consisted of modern day Belarus, Lithuania, Moldova much
of Ukraine and Poland and a part of Latvia.
It was a very hard life and what with Pogroms happening
regularly . One of the only thing they had going for them was
their belief in their God and their Yiddish language. A mixture
of around 70% German, with a mixture of other eastern european languages mixed in. BUT it was, and is a humerus
language with double meanings and some of those words
have even continued into the vernacular of today. We even
see them used in broadsheet editorials .” Chutzpah” is an
example. It means cheek, often by politicians.
One word I like is ” Kvale” Its means to take pleasure in something.
For example the BBC seems to kvale in reporting the death
rates from the Chinese virus. And each time a new milestone
of death is reached it kvales even more.
When the death rate in the UK reached 100, 000 the kvalling
was there for all to see. The 500,000 in the USA has has
reached a proportion of orgasmic kvalling!! Don’t we
all want to see what 500,00 dead souls look like !!!
I expect the next bout of kvalling will be when the figure
reaches 125,000 in the UK. And the 150,000 total will be
met by kvalling at the BBC like you have never seen!!!1
Foscari, I had a wonderful education, being taught some Yiddish informally by classmates (mostly the rude words!) and others, including Peter Sellers via the Goon Show.
Doesn’t kvale have two meanings, the other being close to the English phonym for weeping – ‘wail’?
I used to hear it used and paired with kvetch. “Oi you, coming in ‘ere kvaling and kvetching again. Push off!”
It’s a bit like Chinese whispers UP2. These words have been
passed down through generations. I have had a ” broigas” –
arguement, with my wife on how to spell Kvale I must of
written Kwell a half a dozen times before she read it andwe had
a ” misha gus” a minor argument, before it becomes a broigas.
I know a lot of these words “schlapp” is another favourite of
mine. It comes from the German schlappen-to carry. But
in Yiddish it means it means a bit more. Most husbands
think that they are the schlappers in their relationship with their
wives. It’s quite a funny in a way . Because in me you couldn’t
find a more Jewish atheist !
The BBC is kuk sh-t. And I would like to tell Emily Maitlis,
Jo Coburn and ,Laura Kuensberg amongst others to ” Gey
kuken auf der jum ” Go and sh-t on the grass.
TOADY Watch #3 – H hh hancocks H half – h half hour
Matt Hancock was offered up by the Cabinet to be the 8.10 a.m. sacrificial beast on the BBC’s Altar of Account to explain away the contradictions in the PM’s ‘thinking’ and to dispel the dangers of re-opening schools while creating h hhope for the h holidays.
He was accused by Nick Robinson of ‘handing contracts for PPE equipment to his mates’ which is a smear that Labour like to spread. Funny that. Labour Party = BBC; BBC = Labour Party. H hancock hhad this to say, dropping in a neat little fact: The NAO (that’s National Audit Office, Fed) were asked to check whether that had been a shortage of PPE in the NHS a year ago. The NAO found that there was not.
No apology from Nick Robinson and the BBC for spreading all those lies about PPE, then?

#2 If I care I immediately look for the debunk
.. which will be in the top comments or top tweets
#3 If the debunks consist of Ad Hom abuse at the writer, instead of actual deconstructions of what he said
Then that means it’s a solid argument and worth reading the actual article.
So this time the NYT writer is right and the Lotus guys wrong
What I don’t want to do
is get sucked in by a headline and end up down a rabbit hole investing massive time in reading an article that might be weak.

It was her youth and sex which Ms Mohammed sought to emphasise when interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour by Emma Barnett earlier this month. But Ms Barnett was not satisfied. She asked Ms Mohammed how many women imams there were in Britain. “I wouldn’t have a clue about these numbers,” replied the new secretary-general – strange, if true. “Do you have female imams?” pressed Ms Barnett. “Are you referring to chaplains?” answered Ms Mohammed, evasively. It was not her role to “adjudicate”, she added. “Do we have female imams?” the interviewer came back, a little exasperated that she could not get this simple fact from the nation’s top Muslim spokesman. The MCB, said Ms Mohammed, was “not about defining” these sort of questions or dealing with “spirituality”.
She was almost equally guarded in her answers about whether her organisation silences moderates and why the Government refuses to meet it. She sounded as if she was not permitted to express views of her own.
To any normal listener, it was clear that Emma Barnett’s questions were reasonable ones. They were particularly relevant, too, on a programme for women. It was even clearer that Zara Mohammed’s answers sought to escape scrutiny rather than providing enlightenment.
Yet now it is Emma Barnett who is being pursued. Robust interviews which, of a government minister, would be praised, are, apparently, out of bounds with Muslims. A hundred public figures, including usual suspects such as Diane Abbott and Lady Warsi, have written an open letter to the BBC complaining that the tone of the interview had been “strikingly hostile”.
Nice to read a bit of common sense for a change. He also talks about Harry and Meghan. As is usual for the DT these days for anything even remotely sensitive and even though it is an opinion piece, comments are not allowed.
‘Miqdaad Versi is director for media monitoring at the Muslim Council of Britain.’
No surpise there then. Paid to look for things to complain about.
An occupation which is destroying our country because the silent majority are too busy earning a living with no representation at all. A role the BBC would be filling if it were fit for purpose.

Just been watching a ‘NASA’ live broadcast.

Still think it’s about a virus?

Is BBC radio comedy dead ?

Yes me too. I’ve been an Archers addict since I was in short trousers. But it’s been getting progressively wokified for over a decade. I’ve had enough. It’s supposed to be an everyday story of countryfolk, not a vehicle for green/gay/identity politics. Give us a break.

Interesting opinion about vaccinations here:
“Re: Covid-19: Is vaccination roll out reducing cases and deaths in the UK?
https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n506/rapid-responses
Dear Editor

Weak weak ‘leadership’. Dog help us.

BBC London article
Racist attacks on police officers nearly doubled in a year, according to new figures.
..Doh such magic stats are almost fakenews
that come out of new counting methods etc.

I watched a Mark Levin interview with Dave Rubin:
Well worth the 21 mins or so.
The latter made a point that he believed people were born with a default ‘leftish’ leaning, only developing a right wing view when they mature / age. Interesting concept. Could account for the progressive increase in BBC’s ‘leftism’ – all youth, no real experience apart from, of course the requirement of a Marxist upbringing at ‘Uni’.

PM’s plan leads to surge in travel bookings
Under Mr Johnson’s plan, international travel will not return until 17 May at the earliest – but that hasn’t put people off booking. Tui reported their best day of bookings in over a month, with strong interest in Greece, Spain and Turkey for the summer. Thomas Cook said traffic to its website was up over 100% on Monday from 15:00 GMT onwards. EasyJet also reported a 337% surge in flight bookings and a 630% jump in holiday bookings. Mr Johnson said a global travel taskforce would put forward a report on how to return to international travel on 12 April.

Casual bias . No doubt day after day of negative stuff – country mental health in tatters … as others write here

I like the written answer – because all the negative stuff has frightened us to death ….

Just read the difference in tone about the number of COVID deaths in the USA now Biden is President:
Covid: Biden calls 500,000 death toll a ‘heartbreaking milestone’
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56159756

I see that over at IsTheBBCBiased? they have been looking at a complaint made about Jeremy Vine and Andrew Marr.
Turns out that these two made an error that the BBC has made before.
No doubt ‘lessons will be learned’ until the next time they make the same mistake!
(They repeat allegations that an official enquiry dismissed. I wonder if they were ‘baseless’?).

Sarah Tor : recent Turkish Oxford graduate (presumably Muslim) telling the BBC that THEY are the ignorant ones. It must be a blue moon because I’m on the BBC’s side here.
Sarah is the arrogant bigot here. Religious oppression by Islam is the worst kind of all because they actually believe Allah tells them it is right to do it.

Actually I read a headline
#1 Decide even care
.. mostly you can just wait for facts to come out
#2 If I care I immediately look for the debunk
.. which will be in the top comments or top tweets

“It snowed in the Middle East on Wednesday, covering parts of Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, and Israel in rare white blanket.
The region is known more for being dry and hot than snowstorms. But a huge dip in the jet stream similar to what’s happening in Texas allowed polar air to plunge from the Arctic into the Middle East where it interacted with a storm to create surreal scenes….”

Interesting piece by Charles Moore in the Telegraph today.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/02/23/recognising-islamists-will-sideline-moderates/
