Weekend Thread 12 June 2021

GBNews officially launches at 2000 on Sunday 13th June . Expectations are high – as is prejudice . Unlike the far Left Anti UK BBC it deserves a fair shake . The enemies of free speech and diversity of opinion will have the OFCOM complaint line number on ‘speed dial “. Good Luck GBNews – you are really going to need it .

The King of Scotland, Sterling is on GB News. I’ve always rather liked him.

Oh dear, an ad. It’s Kellogs
Seems they’re going to be far more ‘listening’ than beeb, and venture onto territory beeb avoid. And they don’t want to be ‘Londoncentric’. That would be nice.

AFAIK advert placement doesn’t work the way you suggest.
I don’t think it is the case that a firm calls GBNews to place an advert.
Rather they have a contract with advert placing agencies for a package
And those agencies do the bidding for advertising slots and divide them up through their customers’ needs

Yes – the adverts are an interesting indication of who GBNews is aimed at – seems a bit ‘ up market ‘ to me – no KFC or DFS yet.
There hasnt been a ‘supermarket ‘ add yet…

Well they just had a reporter on from HALIFAX ……Reporting from the Piece Hall an amazing place but the Hippy Hebden lot like to put unicorns and “art” everywhere….

    Watching Dan Wooton.

So refreshing to hear him and the panel saying the sort of stuff that we on here have been commenting on.

    Very enjoyable first half hour.

I suppose the ads might take a while to reflect the population but that should come in time. They can’t all make new ads just for GB News.

    So far it’s great.
Bye bye sky, bbbc, 5 and the rest (“your guys will be taking one hell of a beating” as someone said ((something like that)))

    Farage interview
..clip is played of Boris giving a ridiculous Woke-word-soup at the G7
As Farage start to speak a Coop advert comes on.
After the ads Farage had gone and there is a different guest a royal expert.

Now it’s after 10pm and a new segment
    “ask Alan Sugar”
who disappeared as soon as he has appeared
..he’s back now talking about donating to a Covid memorial.

Oh there is no YouTube livefeed, so I can’t rewind.

Thanks for views so far … 250k first vaccines in last 24 hours – 330k second jab – these numbers are delivered without celebration- but i still think its a huge achievement.

    Time for the news thread

Give it a while before celebrating. If something goes wrong, then the fewer vaccinations the better.

Well, so far, I’m really impressed with GB News.
Yes, there’s been a few teething problems, but nothing that can’t be ironed out.
And they’re interviewing people who I actually want to hear from, like Lord Sumption and Nigel Farage. What’s really refreshing is that there are no snidey left wing types, sneering at anyone they disagree with. Breath of fresh air!
I’m afraid they can’t control the commercials and anyway I’m much more interested in the content.

    A really good start.
