Euro 2020: England aspire to ‘champagne football’, says manager Gareth Southgate

As they say, comments could be going better.

England won’t be winning anything with such a woke, anodyne, unadventurous yes man.

They had a good ten minute spell against mediocre opposition

The players are not good enough, and ‘star player’ ‘Arry Kane hasn’t turned up yet.

Harry-I must reiterate on what I wrote last night. I only
watch the football on ITV for the adverts . I want to go

      pimples.
The BBC just don’t know what they are missing not
having adverts on their channel. It’s just not the same
as having continuity presenters telling us what’s coming
      on next in patois.

Devastating blow for BBC as Scotland knocked out of Euro 2020 football at hands of Croatia. Experts claim it was down to lack of black players in Scottish squad and institutional racism. Calls for England to withdraw from campaign in solidarity.

Could an independent Scotland within the EU have won the competition? We speak to Nicola Krankie of the Scottish National Socialist Party.

The utter absurdity of it all is that by the Left’s definiton of racism, Asian or black people can do exactly the same to white people and it isn’t.
‘racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.’
WTF has whether or not the target is a minority got to do with it ?.

The government has committed to maintain the licence fee funding model for the duration of this Charter period, until 2027. The licence fee model will be reconsidered ahead of the next Charter Review.

    etc. etc.

The government has ‘committed’ to a lot of things – including reducing immigration. It is now ‘committed’ to enabling and hiding illegal immigration. It follows that the government will be ‘committed’ to the licence fee model well beyond 2027.

UN Afghan envoy Deborah Lyons alarmed at Taliban gains
      https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-57564716
Then Deborah is in the wrong job. Does she think they sit and sing Kumba-Ya every night ?. I wonder how many have been murdered since we pulled out for being colaborators. We won’t get told anything about that until it suits some ‘victim’ agenda where the blame can be twisted and placed on the UK.
While reading this article, I did my usual check to see who got called a terrorist. The answer – as expected – was nobody. So I decided to see if the UK designates the Taliban as a terrorist organisation.
Remember how we are being told the ‘Far-right’ represent one of the biggest risks ?. Just take a look at this list on who is considered to be terrorists. It’s page after page of Muslim groups. Including the Taliban.
      https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/proscribed-terror-groups-or-organisations–2/proscribed-terrorist-groups-or-organisations-accessible-version
Further from what I found the other day, the BBC are refusing to call any Muslims ‘terrorists’ any more because their global reach means they might well be someone’s ‘freedom fighters’.
It’s absolutely wrong. It’s the BBC reporting and one B stands for ‘British’. If the UK classifies anyone as terrorists, the BBC should be forced to include the word every time they describe the group.
Just who do these people think they are ?. I’ve seen the videos of what these terrorist do and the BBC are protecting them. They make me sick.

    Advice Requested

I have received my fourth letter from the TV Licensing Authority, the one warning me that I have only 10 days left before they will send someone round to see me.

Can you please advise me what is likely to happen next and what is the best way to go forward .

I use the letters for shopping lists and the like .

I get a letter roughly every 4 weeks . I miss the ones which said ‘ we know where you live ‘ – which was a bit strange because if they didnt how could they send a letter ?

Anyway – presumably the letter was addressed to ‘ the occupier ‘ . I was thinking of changing my name to ‘ mr occupier ‘ to help TVL out – but then again not.

In summary – do nothing – there is no legal requirement to communicate in any way with TVL . So no coms . Your chances of a visit is infinitely low – but if it happens – not a word – close the door on him / her .

    • Up2snuff says:

Double, “Can you please advise me what is likely to happen next” Not a lot at present. I have been getting threatening letters almost on a monthly basis. I must get around to sending another ‘cease and desist’ warning to the boss of TV Licensing. I think it is because of the Pandemic, the most likely thing is that an ‘enforcement officer’ (note the small e & o) will put a slip or card through your letterbox and run away from fear of Covid. Has happened to me during the Pandemic.

You are under no obligation to let someone from TV Licensing even talk to you, let alone enter your home although in the very distant past – when I was a lot more tolerant about this and before the big horror stories started – I have done both.

If you do open the door to a caller and they show the TV Licensing ID, say nothing to them. Do not answer their questions. Best to shut the door in my view untill you have served at least two notices to ‘Cease and Desist’ upon TV Licensing under the Protection from Harassment Act 1989. If you are wealthy, or choose to spend your Licence Fee savings pot, you can pay a solicitor to do it for you. You can also do it yourself.

Keep copies of those letters in a place near your front door where you can reach them without leaving the door unattended. They can then be shown, while you remain silent, to the TV Licensing person. If you have a phone you could do one of two things: either film and record what happens next or phone the police on 999. It would then help if you can film or get a note of the TVL operative’s car or van Licence number.

    Proud independent island nation

Some time ago the government made an unspoken decision that health passports were the way of the future. Michael Gove headed up the project.

However, they found their plans met considerable public pushback.

So they have employed carrot and stick tactics to threaten and to cajole the public into acceptance of their policy goal.

On the threat side we had a government-sponsored media obsession with the apparently dangerous, so-called, Indian varient – which for PC reasons morphed into the Delta varient.

Cue the sound of the shark theme from the movie Jaws.

How did this affect us? Well, the NHS wasn’t overwhelmed and there weren’t mass deaths but we did get scary TV news reports from India then the supposed 21st June lockdown unlocking was put back by four weeks and all your foreign holidays were cancelled.

Bad Cop has given the prisoner a jolly good working over, bouncing him off the walls of the cell, so now he leaves the room nursing his bruised knuckles. In comes Good Cop, leaving the door tantalisingly ajar and with the offer of a nice cup of tea – if you’ll just do as he says…

Blueprint for holiday lift-off‘ (Daily Mail)

Cue the theme from the movie The Sound of Music.

Or alternatively, in the spirit of diversity, that old spiritual sung by Paul Robeson – Let My People Go

And the deal with the Devil is: ‘Ministers poised to end amber list curbs for fully-jabbed from July 19. Trips to US, France, Spain and Italy could be on‘ (Mail)

So let’s just take a step back and think about what this means. A perfectly healthy individual is to be condemned by the State to a form of internal exile, with all overseas travel privileges indefinitely removed, if they should choose not to submit to certain medical procedures.

Let’s just check what civil rights the Guardian is up in arms about today: ‘Don’t delay applying to stay, EU citizens warned

I’m as fondly Brexiteer as Nigel Farage when he was in full on Leave mode but since I’ve no beef with European people I’m somewhat alarmed by the covid-emboldened authoritarian language used here: ‘…notices will tell them to submit an application or risk consequences, which include losing their rights to healthcare and employment‘ – where to even begin with that?

Sounds like that old much maligned “hostile environment” – right? So where is the Left speaking up to protect us from the hostile environment second-class citizen apartheid status fast developing around the no-jab community?

As for withdrawal of rights to healthcare and employment, that of course won’t happen – there’d be a rush of civil rights lawyers on that one like summer time wasps on a neglected picnic jam sandwich. Anyway economic lockdowns have surely already done quite enough damage to all our rights to healthcare and employment for some form of class action.

Of course there has been collateral damage caused by the government’s policies of arm-twisting toward jab passports. Our massive fuss over the India varient gave Sir Keir Starmer the opening to make just about the only important – dare one say forensic – point he has ever uttered at PM’s question time when he questioned the government allowing in 20,000 people arriving from India. Sadly for Sir Keir that was not widely reported; the corporate media and his Leftist fellow travellers (but I repeat myself) found his argument, as cogent as it might be in this case, inevitably cast a light on immigration, so still tasted to them much like his usual cold gruel.

And our India lurgy fuss which gave all of us the Bombay Squeeky Bum was of course reported abroad – and as any good brief will warn you will be used in evidence against us: ‘Merkel and Draghi voice Wembley fears. The German chancellor and Italian prime minister have raised concerns over holding the final matches of Euro 2020 in London amid fears over the spread of the Delta varient of coronovirus‘ (FT)

But don’t concern yourselves – nobody in the ruling elites actually believes these covid restrictions are really holding back the black death – you all saw the pictures from the G7 Cornwall gig – it’s all just so much posturing for advantage: ‘Boris Johnson is said to be keen to ward off a bid by… Mario Draghi to switch the last game to Italy… and talks are taking place with orgainisers Uefa to have foreign fans and 2,500 VIPs at the matches‘ (Metro)

In further news of failed grandiose globalist cooperation: ‘G7 snubbed. Tax resistance in Bermuda. Bermudian finance minister… has told the Financial Times the island’s taxation regime is a matter of sovereignty‘ – and quite right too.

And with the added advantage that those off-shore globalist billionaire fortunes secreted away in Bermuda will remain safe. Anyway, time for an grandstanding sloganistic platitudinous statement – How dare the globalists threaten the sovereignty of that proud independent island nation.

TOADY Watch #1 – The BBC really hate England.

It is strange when you consider that England provides the bulk of the BBC’s revenues. The BBC really ought to love England and be a little cooler to Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland because those other home nations have all cost the BBC extra money that they cannot spend on themselves making their already vast salaries ever more hugemungusly big.

On the web-site last night, Scotland first item, England second. 8 a.m. News during TOADY this morning was the same. Mishal was having a day off from the ISCBC (Indian sub-Continent Broadcasting Corporation) but after Amol Rajan did a good job on the 8.10 Big Interview Slot, what was the next item?

The Bee Lady talking about Scottish footie before the sports segment, too! And Martha is Irish. Auughhhh! Off switch activated, temporarily.

I have to own up to something here. I’m a wee bit conflicted as some longer-term folk here may have guessed from posts of the past: my ancestors have migrated. From all over, including within the UK.

    • Seppers says:

Why should we worry about where your ancestors are from and why should it make you conflicted?
I have also thought the bbc is anti-English in that – certainly in recent years though perhaps a bit less now – it has seemed to want to negate the notion of England or of identifying as English, whilst simultaneously highlighting and pressing home the distinctiveness and nationhood of the other home nations, the football being pretty much the only exception. And England is somehow the rest of Britain. Eg in history documentaries scientists may be Scottish (Jenner) or British (Newton), etc. And I have wondered why this is.
My partner is Scottish and has also noticed this though he isn’t too bothered about it.
It doesn’t even particularly make sense as a pro-indy strategy.
I just think it would be unbiased to either say everyone is British or to use all nationalities. Consistent and therefore not open to speculation.
(Yes, I do continue to dream that the bbc could become impartial and transparent again, but not holding out much hope.)

I think the bbc embues things with its agendas but I don’t think it or the government or anything would be that clever and organised re what you’re saying.
Just because some voices link this with solutions to climate etc it doesn’t mean this was all cooked up on false pretences -because just look at Brazil etc.

Lockdowns are coming and forever. It will be to stop Climate Change – the reason for the coup against Pres Trump.

Many cities are painting wide bike lanes in addition to bus lanes. The result is traffic chaos all round. Car only lanes are jammed at ine place while empty at another, as one cannot use an empty lane bus lane to go around a stoppage.

Meanwhile buses are empty as no one wishes to travel in a covid infected bus. And you are lucky if you ever see a cyclist.

This is just a manifestation of the realisation by the Masters that they can boss us around, and we will obey.

Our masters have to be stopped before they destroy the nation. The only way left is to vote for The Monster Raving Loony Party – the only sane party left.

While he’s not to everybody’d taste and the advertorial for guns, pillows and VPNs grates a lot on occasion – Dan Bongino has a real handle on the central themes of US politics in a practical hands-on sense.

The serious Democrats and the serious swamp behind the procession of ghastly boobs that are out front of house are playing hardball and it’s past time that the opposition took that on board and returned a few hard volleys.

I see that “sue and settle” is making a comeback with the EPA and environmental groups and the corruption is absolutely epic

A Doctor’s lecture about her campaign to get more Green POLITICS into the NHS

An item that begins with a Trojan horse of talking about a sick little boy Ahmed and helping him get fit by leaving his flat more.

    It had the normal problems
: overstatement eg that the asthma that killed Kissigani was CAUSED by traffic pollution ..no it was probably made worse by pollution
: mixing up Climate Change and plastic pollution…they are two different things
If plastic is used properly it doesn’t create CO2
: The idea that green measure are Win/Win … Britains big electric prices due to green measures do a lot of harm
    .. Veganism was pushed too

Welcoming us into her consulting room to meet her patients,
Tamsin describes her journey to climate activism,
and why she’s convinced that looking for ‘double wins’ is the way forward.
From giving a lecture about the environment to a sea of faces all sipping coffee from plastic cups,
to the challenges of winning over already hard-pressed colleagues,
in this witty talk Tamsin describes the realities of climate activism on the NHS frontline.
As she prescribes health interventions with positive side-effects for the planet,
she offers a new way to talk about climate change.

If the BBC can help bloat the perception that lots of “significant” groups are opposing the status quo, they will. It’s part of a plan to convince us all that we must be wrong-headed by pretending numerous splinter groups are actually the mainstream opinion.

Setting people against each other is an age-old tactic in an attempt to bring down mainstream society so the BBC will use it wherever possible be it by gender, race, immigrants, the regions etc. etc.

Interesting how there seem to be no obvious “Muslim” faces in the photo but then again, they are in a different BBC “tool box” I guess.

The joyous moment… (although not for the BBC)
After many hours of somewhat inconclusive results, the position was finally becoming clear by around 4am. It was about 40 minutes later when the BBC finally had no option but to call the result for Leave. A visibly-shocked David Dimbleby gave the news to the nation.

      Relive the moment here

Now we are in our sixth year and still it seems we can’t return to our normal jobs and normal lives. Not only does Brexit have to be completed, but there are also the battles to be won on freedom of speech, the woke ‘cancel’ agenda, the return to normal policing and the proper application of the law, and ‘climate change’.

    Eco novels

Two novels – one published tomorrow and one just out in paperback explore the human impact of environmental disaster through the lives of girls and women.
They both ask – what is really important to us?
What lasts when everything we think we need is stripped away?

#1 Diane Cook : ‘The New Wilderness’
All nature has been destroyed except for one bit where a few humans live as hunter gatherers

#2 Kate Sawyer, author of ‘The Stranding’, her first novel
    Ends up an an eco-apocalypse
main character lives in the carcass of a whale
    Appears to an eco-lecture.

The preceding item was about Ugandan squatter women
with : Sostine Namanya of NAPE (National Association of Professional Environmentalists committed to sustainable solutions to Uganda )
The item was a way of saying “see this is what the Tory aid cuts do !

Lovelock makes the point in his recent book that in hunter-gatherer societies, every individual needed up to 10 square kilometres of space to sustain themselves, which was completely manageable with the world population at those levels. I hope Cook’s storyline decimates almost the entire human population of the planet, otherwise she’s barking up the wrong (extinct) tree.

Earlier complaints on BBC pro-Scotch coverage of the football were of course quite legitimate, but perhaps we should be more aware of just how much spite, and juvenile spite at that, is involved in such bias.

If the BBC are covering the game, relative equality is used but if it’s ITV then the subsequent coverage is designed to annoy and diminish. That is petty enough in its own right, but things get really childish on the text page reports.

Click on Football Results and you’ll find last night’s matches have Scotland’s loss first and England’s win relegated to also-ran status. Worse still are F1 reports. After Sunday’s French GP in which Hamilton was outdriven by Verstappen, checking F1 text on Monday showed that Verstappen crashed out and Perez won – as he did, the week before at Baku.

If the BBC don’t cover an event, or have lost the franchise through prioritising absurd salaries it’s not news and doesn’t merit an update. Pathetic.

@FedUp2 you asked about deletion of posts
What you get at the Guardian so often, is that when someone replies disagreeing with the author
the comment is often just deleted.
That of course is not free and fair debate; it’s an echo chamber
BBC kind of leans towards that, eg moderators deleting some anti-wokist replies etc.
We shouldn’t be like that ..but rather the home of free and fair debate.
    If I post a pic of Whoopi wearing a Kill-Trump T-shirt

    – What we have here on this blog is sometimes people getting annoyed by replies to their posts
#1 say when the repliers don’t see it the way they do
But exchange of opinion is good and misunderstanding and misreading what someone has said is part of open debate
I don’t mind being corrected by someone saying it’s a photoshop

The other thing is some troll posts, which are not in a Good Faith way
but rather to deliberately SPOIL the debate, often turning up late
Firstly trying to get a “gotcha” but then doing seemingly to deliberately spoil debate eg throw out insults and accusations which provoke people to reply to them.
Often the false allegation/point can be answered but the troll doesn’t apologise, they just move on to attempt more disruption
eg When I posted about Wetherspoons and Kooparberg
He posted ‘Gotcha, this newspaper says Wetherspoons don’t sell Kooparberg’
That’s BS cos as soons as you walk in, you can see Kooparberg

One thing is that troll posts often expose how weak the lefty/lib worldview is.

eg2 when I made the point that a 1Km cubed iceberg melts it doesn’t raise the sea by 1Km cubed, like the same cube melting on land would
The trolls rushed in to say ‘Gotcha here’s an article saying an iceberg does raises sea level’
That’s a fake gotcha cos the raise is not a 1Km cubed rise, but rather a tiny tiny rise due to dilution of salt.

If it was upto me I would move Bad Faith comments to a sin bin thread or something so that they don’t spoil the main thread.

I went to a history talk last week
suddenly the speaker threw in a line
“The ancient Africans had great civilsation and great walls”
..so I later I asked him about the Simon Webb view
that although North Africa had pyramids like in Sudan and Egypt
there isn’t much in Sub-Saharan Africa just a couple of things like Great Zimbabwe, which aren’t as big or as old as media make out. (that’s the one I’ve been too. I lived in West Africa and South Africa and didn’t see things like Stonehenge or Roman forts etc.)
The speaker then confided that he used that line cos it went down well with school teachers, and that they’d be taught it by a wokist staff member.
He then went on to speak out at length about how his own specialist topic was misrepresented by woke warriors. That of course people 300 years ago weren’t 100% angels, but neither were the 100% monsters they are now made out to be.

Stew, there’s an African kingdom (that may be part of South Africa or adjacent to it) that is the world’s oldest ‘democracy’ of a sort. Cannot remember the name.

      Anyone help out?

Side issue: I wonder how Grant, late of this parish, is doing?

Not wishing to be unpopular but….
Covid case rates today are 16.000 and the trend is upwards.
Hospitalisations are low but rising slowly and deaths ditto,

Question – what is the government’s actual policy on this?

    Ignore?
    Pretend it’s not happening?
    Hoping for herd immunity?

My problem is that hope is not a strategy. If rates are going up, and R is above 1, what is going to make them come down? Or are we happy to let them rip?

Its good to see that the numbers of hospital admissions are not feeding through directly to the total numbers in hospital – in other words some are staying in but just for a short time and not transitioning into serious illness. And some death rate is clearly a price worth paying for the greater good of a free society.

But I just have this nagging feeling that we are kicking the can down the road and may have to have another lockdown rather than opening up in about 3 weeks time, when, unless something changes, rates will in the 30,000 range. Which would be bad news for many, especially those who play by the rules and have to pay the price for those who don’t.

That’s the problem with exponentials, one minute its nothing and the next its a crisis, and the space between the two is thin, and by the time you’ve stopped and thought about it, it’s too late.

As we have found twice. Big time.

That 16k figure fits better with some context. Which demographics are most affected? Locations? Shouldn’t be a problem to lock-down individual areas and let the rest of us get back to enjoying overpriced restaurants and cinema tickets. I’m assuming the 20k Indian visitors who pitched up here and spiked us recently didn’t all head to Devon and Cornwall….

        Deaths are not rising fast.
The 7 day trend is not that steep.

This morning’s More or Less pointed out something like
the case to death rate is 1/40th of what it used to be.

        Great responses from people.
But doesn’t fill all the gaps.

Yes, it shouldn’t be a problem to lock down individual area.
But it is, check out Leicester last year. And Blackburn now.

The 7 day trend is not steep. OK but it’s still up. What’s the plan to get it down? If there isn’t one, could the government admit to it?

Taff. Totally agree. So why are we at 16000?

Maybe the strategy is indeed ‘we’re gonna let cases rip and rely on the vaccine to keep deaths low while we get on with the rest of our lives’

Wouldn’t it be great if someone had the bottle to admit it.

PS BBC news admitting BAME areas are vastly under-vaccinated. In Newham only 50% have had even one jab. Must be those racist whiteys again, and maybe the whole spike is due to our modern levels of vibrancy.

Sluff, someone needs to explain how the ‘Delta Plus variant’, a.k.a. ‘Nepal variant’ got into the UK. How many Nepalese visit the UK each year? I realise we have a home population of Nepalese, mostly Gurkhas, and their dependents but are they likely to have travelled to Nepal and then returned with the virus and not self-isolated/quarantined as required?

Sluff – the strategy is to hold off on lifting restrictions until a bigger chunks of the 20 somethings get their 1st jab plus the 2 weeks for it to kick in .

I don’t pay as much attention to the vax numbers but I think daily numbers have been falling . I understand that those with covid bad enough to be in hospital are in the 20 – 30 range . …

…. The others affected are those who have chosen not to have the jab which Darwin would understand …

“Cases” don’t matter. They are just used to scare us. What matters is the number of people who are ill.
