Local newspaper : Body Found in Humber
..It takes them most of a column to say “fears of another *tragic fall* from the Humber Bridge”

… They mean the Humber Bridge which was closed to walkers, all last April after 6 people committed suicide in March.
They are supposed to now have a team monitoring the anti-jumper cameras.

    =====

Meanwhile NHS failed to save a 28 yo woman
after 8 months she went into premature labour. Still birth and then she had a stroke.
2 months later while shopping she had another stroke.
When they turned off life support, she never came around.

    =====
Two local care homes put in in special measures.

And the time between decision and act?

Would not a fence be cheaper… and more effective?

I recall the Empire State had one, but I did wonder about folk dropping stuff like coins.

      • StewGreen says:

People tend to walk the 1 mile to the middle of the bridge and then loiter as the pick a spot to jump
So yes there is time for the camera team to spot them and get to them most of the time.

The bridge is very vulnerable to side winds, that’s why the fence is only 4 foot high.

Sometimes you can drive across the bridge to go to hospital, but then 2 hours later , the bridge is closed due to high winds.

Covid: I just looked at the deaths by actual day graph
and there is a chance that Tue/Wed/Thu eventual tallies may not reach the 230 of previous days
So we may reached peak deaths already.

It should be big news that neither cases, nor deaths went exponential this year
    unlike last year.

“The Ministry of Truth” or how the BBC globally co-ordinates propaganda and censorship using the Orwellian “Trusted News Initiative”: https://odysee.com/@Robert-Self:a0/What-is-the-Trusted-News-Initiative:4

Americans are very angry about the BBC. The BBC’s trusted news initiative has functionally morphed into Orwell’s predicted “Ministry of Truth”: https://wentworthreport.com/2021/12/27/the-trusted-news-initiative-is-the-bureaucracys-orwellian-response-to-the-fake-news-meme/

This BBC initiative is the most intrinsically anti-science global organisation ever implemented in the history of modern man. The closest historical approximation to this monstrosity is the Catholic Church during the Spanish inquisition.

Effectively, the BBC is guilty of mass murder, by suppressing mention of early treatments like Ivermectin and the steroids that asthmatics use to avoid needing a ventilator. Suppressing any mention of the tens of thousands of people throughout the world who have died from Vaccine injuries, mostly from myocarditis. Suppressing any mention of the future problems that could be caused by accumulations of spike protein from each booster, when it takes over a year for spike proteins from the vaccine to dissipate from the body.

The government admitted to actively using fear https://peopleslockdowninquiry.co.uk/articles/the-governments-lockdown-campaign-of-fear/ and ‘Mass Formation Hypnosis’ https://rwmalonemd.substack.com/p/mass-formation-deployed-on-you-after to brainwash the public using the BBC and other mainstream media outlets.

As we see more and more scores settled at face to face family to family level in the Asian community including murder, a practice imported from and accepted in their Countries of origin, it is obvious that this Country and the US is becoming infected with this tendency to have another “honour” level of law and punishment outside the proscribed National one with various brothers and cousins acting as judge, jury and executioner.

No doubt our legal and police officials and betters will decide that it is not something they can interfere with for reasons of cohesion and diversity.

Is Joe Public meant to believe that ‘counter-terrorism officers’ from the Home Office and other government departments are actually investigating people who question the wisdom of Whitty et al. rather than monitoring the thousands of individuals of alien persuasion who are on the terror watch lists?
      Unfortunately, it rings true.

“It’s a growing concern and it is being monitored at the highest level,” said the Whitehall source. “No 10 is among those getting the reports direct: the PM is seeing them in his inbox. The consensus is that we didn’t win [the disinformation war] as cleanly as we need to do next time.”

But surely decriminalising non-payment of the TV tax should be included in all this!

And five years before anything happens is quite a long time, especially if Labour take over and want the BBC back, as they probably will!

    But, it’s a start…

    • Right Angle says:

[Oh Scroblene, how could you? You beat me to it!]

The Mail on Sunday claims an exclusive:

      https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10406491/Nadine-Dorries-hits-BBC-2bn-funding-cut-freezes-annual-licence-fee-charge-2024.html

Sadly, the licence fee isn’t disappearing overnight. However:

“The BBC was last night on the brink of a war with the Government after Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries hit the Corporation with a two-year licence fee freeze – as her allies warned that ‘the days of state-run television are over’.
Tense negotiations between the Government and the BBC over the cost of the annual fee until the end of 2027 have concluded, with Ms Dorries deciding to hold the licence at £159 for the next two years.
Officials calculate that – due to inflation currently running at 5.1 per cent – the Corporation will have to find savings of more than £2 billion over the next six years.”

There is also a related article:
      https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10406653/Tory-fury-BBC-accused-breaching-impartiality-Boris-Johnson-partygate-coverage.html

“The BBC is at the centre of a new impartiality row after Newsnight aired a video detailing Partygate allegations.
Friday’s flagship political programme started with a video containing clips of breaking news stories spliced with angry quotes from opposition politicians and repeated calls for Boris Johnson to resign as Prime Minister.
It was accompanied by a soundtrack akin to a horror film trailer. (Congratulate me — this is the first time I have done “bolding” in a Biased BBC post!)
The clip lasted one minute and 54 seconds, but no more than 20 seconds were afforded to the Government and Prime Minister’s position.”

And this is Peter Bone, writing about his bill in The Express:
      https://www.express.co.uk/comment/expresscomment/1549752/Abolish-the-BBC-licence-fee-cancel-boycott-gb-news-licence-fee-over-75s

      The actual headline reads:
BBC was 5-1 in favour of Remain – how is that impartial broadcasting? PETER BONE

      He says:
“It is time to abolish the TV License [that should have been “Licence” – probably left the auto-correct on] fee.”

“The reality is that a state broadcaster is a relic of the past, more suited to the policies of communist Russia and China than modern Britain.”

“Under Part 4 of the Communications Act, a licence is needed to watch or record live TV on any channel as well as to watch or stream programmes live on an online TV service. Why should someone who already pays monthly for their BT, Sky, Amazon and Netflix subscriptions have to fork out a further £157.50 a year, or face criminal prosecution, to fund a broadcaster whose services they never intend to use?

To add insult to injury, many people switching to streaming or commercial services are doing so because they have fundamental misgivings about the impartiality and integrity of the BBC.

Despite the majority voting for Brexit in 2016, a 2018 Civitas report on BBC output the following year revealed speaker ratios on the BBC, as high as 5:1, in favour of Remain. The first public purpose of the BBC Charter is “to provide impartial news”. When the corporation is manifestly failing in this task, viewers should have the option to switch off and to take their financial contributions with them.”

Could the telly tax end this decade? It looks like there is hope!

It is long past the time when a Tory government should have axed the Licence Fee. Even Lady Thatcher baulked at that particular jump .Boris ought to have made non payment a civil offence only and I’m sure a few million folk would have become refuseniks overnight and the BBC would be finished.
Given the timidity of this and all other Tory government when trying to deal with the BBC I think that the time has come for civil disobedience, everyone who resents paying the corporation to be allowed to watch any linear tv should simply refuse to pay.
One of my friends has not paid for the past five years and receives quarterly threatening letters and has had two visits from the enforcement squad, the last one being two years ago but so far no court action. I haven’t paid the LF for close on two years , plenty of letters but no visit.
In these times when the strength of your feelings and conviction matters more than what the law actually says , eg the Colson Four , I believe that our cause is just and we should figuratively man the barricades.

The spin being put on this so called’ TVL freeze ‘ is interesting –
It says the government is starting a war with the BBC – when in fact the BBC has been at war with the government and its policies ( eg brexit ) for years and years

It says a freeze in TVL fees imposes a budget cut on the BBC because of inflation – upto £2 billion. Well where does that come from ? If the BBC gets £3.5 billion from taxpayers via the TVL how does that £2 billion compute ?

On the upside the cost of producing programmes is rapidly increasing ( I understand ) because with Netflix – Amazon – apple and Disney in the market production costs are increasing – which with a bit of luck will damage the BBC even more .

    What will happen now ?

Well maybe Peter Bones ‘ bill might get a bit of attention – or just killed off

The BBC will pretend to be cuddly ‘auntie’ and claim that it will cut programming and stations as usual …. And That This Can’t Happen .

But then again – the BBC bitches loudly about the ‘cost of living increases ‘ so how can it complain about having to tighten its ‘belt ?

I still find it unsettling that much of BBC income is shrouded in secrecy – Namely the commercial arm which hides behind contract confidentiality . This is wrong .

Lastly I think the BBC should welcome a global subscription service. After all – hundreds of millions of potential customers – fully enthused for all that BBC stuff which they cannot currently get – will be able to subscribe and make the BBC a super rich global player …. Right ?

( or maybe we’d find out that it produces so much crap people won’t bother )…

    • Thoughtful says:

The only way they can get to a realistic 2 billion figure is if they use inflation at 5% over two years, which comes to £23.85 compounded and then also factor in the figure they wanted for an increase, which probably tells you that these BBC execs are living on a different planet to the rest of us.

Probably far-right nazi militias….or a person who was the victim of far-right conspiracies and reacted as a result in the way he/she/it did….much as we’re told by the BBC, the Cologne sex attackers only did so because they were led to believe, by the Far-Right, that it was a tradition in Germany to do that….presumably the same in Italy recently or in Rochdale and Rotherham and any other town you care to mention it seems.

‘‘There are conspiracy theories in the air that the New Year’s Eve attackers were encouraged to make sexual approaches to German women, told that it was the normal thing to do on New Year’s Eve. If true, they may have fallen into a well-laid trap.’’ The BBC’s Hugh Sykes.

Just for a bit of light relief let’s kick off with a Sunday football report – of course there was a time, not so very long ago, when the term Sunday football evoked notions of ordinary chaps playing at keeping fit by kicking a ball, to the best of their doubtful ability, around a muddy pitch probably marked out on a slope, for the dubious honour of their local pub team in some obscure regional Sunday league – you know the joke – jumpers for goalposts… that was before the advent of the likes of sedentary Playstations and the wholesale asset-stripping cultural buyout represented by our international-oriented corporate Premier League.

Where were we? Ah yes, Sunday football report – or rather there’s no need to look away now – here’s a report telling us the big game has been called off: ‘Tottenham vs Arsenal: North London derby postponed after Gunners’ request, leaving Spurs ‘extremely surprised’… Gunners have a host of players missing with Covid, injury, suspension and AFCON‘ (Sky News) – gosh, a major covid outbreak – a veritable host – among the fit young athletes in the Arsenal squad? Quick, sound the alarm, turn the Emirates stadium into a temporary Nightingale!

The devil is always in the detail… ‘Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu had been ruled out through injury… with Bukayo Saka also taking a knock, while Granit Xhaka’s… red card would have ruled him out of the Tottenham game. Meanwhile, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are all away at the Africa Cup of Nations… Folarin Balogun and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have gone on loan‘ – so… are they not missing anyone at all, due to the covid then?

midfielder Martin Odegaard missed Thursday’s goalless Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg draw at Liverpool due to Covid‘ – “due” to the covid or “with” covid, we speculate – just the one named player with the koof, apparently. Even though the covid tops the list of casualties in the media reports.

The commonest single excuse for non-attendence at the North London derby would tend to be due to the Africaness of no less than four named Gunners.

But not so much the team’s overall covidity? I’m perplexed – perhaps Arsenal just didn’t fancy the game?

Seems the TV broadcasters – via their paid pundits – are a bit miffed.

Speaking on Friday Night Football, [Gary] Neville said: “I honestly believe that all teams, not just in the Premier League but the EFL now, must be made to play their fixtures.

Just a little bit of politics is inserted here by me: ‘Gary Neville joins Labour and considers move into politics. Some have speculated he may run to succeed Andy Burnham as mayor of Greater Manchester.‘ (Guardian) – I like the sense implied here that the move to join Labour is put prior to and separate from a considered move into politics – how very media a notion of balance that you can be a paid up member and supporter of a political party without being in politics as such.

We return to the football with Sky

Gary Neville has said the Premier League must force teams to fulfil their fixtures after Arsenal requested to postpone the derby, while Jamie Carragher believes clubs are taking advantage of the coronavirus pandemic.’ – we’ve noted hereabouts that tendency to be rife in many institutions and organisations.

Carragher said: “No other league in Europe is doing this, certainly not in those big leagues. Bayern Munich played a 16-year-old in their last game. Why can’t the young players be given an opportunity in these circumstances?‘ Quite.

Or how about some of those top Arsenal ladies team we hear so much about, who seem to reckon their games is on a par with the chaps? Give the girls a first team start. Just for a bit of light relief.

I did hear a discussion a while back….very low key, no pointed accusations of immorality or selfishness and irresponsibility….a quick explanation that players see their bodies as their temples needed for work and so are very careful what they put in them….close discussion and move on.

The BBC also very coy about the ethnicity of so many of the unvaccinated putting us all in ‘mortal danger’…..how different when the claim was Bames were disproportionately dying….killed by institutionally racist system that just didn’t care.

“die with Covid rather than from it.”
Something we knew all along without the need of an analyst?

Indeed we did know this taffman. To put ONS numbers to it for 2020 – the height of the plague:
      72,000 died WITH Covid
9,400 died WITH it without a report of underlying causes, of whom
7,800 were over 65 years of age.
And that’s with the financial encouragement of the Coronavirus Act to report deaths as Covid, especially in hospitals and “care” homes.

I heard them say that on Today yesterday…deaths ‘rising sharply’….looking at the covid dashboard deaths have been going down for days now so wonder where the BBC gets its figures from.

Today also tried to play down the ‘with covid’…..you’re not dying from cancer alone because if you didn’t have covid you wouldn’t be in such a bad position…..so you’re dying from covid!

Apparently now ‘it’s very difficult to classify the cause of death….you may be in for something else and covid is not the primary driver but…..’

Funny how when the figures are dropping the BBC suddenly finds that the figures can’t be relied upon and it’s all so ‘very difficult’. No such questions when Whitty, Vallance and Ferguson were pumping out the extreme, worst case, figures.

The guy from the ONS that they had on, who seemed to be desperate to keep up the fear levels and insist the peril is still just as bad, told us..

‘Omicron is extremely deadly for the elderly and those with co-morbidity’

Hmmmm…figures from South Africa suggest Omicron is far, far less of a threat across all age groups…and those with ‘co-morbidity’, underlying health conditions, well…the same…..clearly he was trying to maintain the aura of threat so that these groups must be protected and lockdowns still on the cards…he stated that lockdown should have been imposed this january. BBC happy with that.

Bottomline Boris already had Covid in March 2020.
We take Covid precautions to stop Covid spreading
People who have had Covid are in a different category to those who’ve never had it.

If you are at a an event with someone that has had Covid in the last few months, you are extremely unlikely to catch Covid from them.

Not so. I’ve had the Delta and the Omicron variants, and despite the Israeli study saying I’m 27 times more immune than with the vaccine the government and the law refuse to recognise that fact.

The Tory leftist media has begun an attack on the consultant who dares tell Sajid Jabbid the truth that he would be sacked alkong with at least another 1000 workers at a single hospital.

The Tories cowardly useless and incompetent as they are, are prepared to trash the NHS over their single minded reliance on a vaccine which many do not require.

To suggest that Boris is somehow ‘special’ because he had it, is as bad as saying the rules don’t apply to him, when the Tories ARE applying those rules to everyone else.

I try not to get myself bogged down in the virological specifics – firstly I’m not a medic but more importantly even the supposed experts – even the actual medical ones – can’t ever seem to say anything consistently categorical about just about any aspect of the covid or the vaccines. Do we think, if they were honest, they would say they just don’t know?

I experienced and excellent example of BBC world vs the real world yesterday.

An item on the news on radio-2 was telling me how some organisation or other was racist because it didn’t have enough black people in it.

Meanwhile, the first episode of the new Vera made a new record for how quickly I turned it off because it was racist. 4 minutes 27 seconds. It started with someone driving into a dockyard. The man operating the barrier was black. That’s a 1/100 chance in Newcastle.

Then we see a car pull up on a road and someone leans out of the window with a camera. It’s a black woman. That’s a 1/10,000 chance for both.

    Off.

I’m sick of these shameless, racist double standards.

More seriously do volcanoes cause global warming or viruses or both ? – and now the weather ‘it’s a north – south ‘ split …

An absolutely disgraceful statement today from the alleged PM Boris Johnson that he will now do something about the influx of invaders from France crossing in dinghys.

Yet again we see the cowardice and expediency of a man who has not only ignored and marginalised conservatives, attacking them for being conservativew when ever the opportunity arose, now his cowardly back is against the wall and the Left are baying for blood, he turns to the conservatives in the hope of support.

Well he’s done nothing about the migrant crisis for years, in fact he has actively intervened to stop Priti Patel from taking any action, but now he thinks it can save his ass if he does something.

No Boris it won’t, you are absolutely ineffective and useless and you probably won’t do anything to stop our open borders from being abused. I will not vote Conservative again until they return to being conservative, and I would rather waste my vote on one of the marginal parties than endorse this far Left hopelessly Marxist party of incompetents.

I don’t see why he can’t just clout the civil serpents where it hurts the most, and get some competent people making Conservative policies happen.

Now the Beeboids are getting all hissy, it’s a good day to bury good news and sack the bloody lot of the serpents which infest the parties in Downing Street.

Maybe plod could intervene, but I doubt it!

There’s a caller on LBC, who is a copper named Lee. He rings up occasionally, and explains that there are hundreds of people who plonk around the Downing Street corridors, and Metplod don’t raise an eyebrow, probs because they just can’t be in so many places at once!

Presumably the cull of staff in Downing Street will be only a few serpents, so the job will only be half-done I suspect! Bit like the rest of government at the moment.

Still, some good news from Nadine at last, this’ll be a good week for once!

Not much point posting a link to a subscribe to view page where most won’t have any access.
If there are some relevant point in the article you are going to have to copy and paste them, otherwise posting that has little point to it.

So really I should of said usual suspect. Don’t expect the BBC
to report too much about it . It may offend some folk. For whom
the BBC don’t like offending. I wonder if Mehdi Hassan.
was correct with his “anti-Semitism is the Muslims dirty
little secret.” And all the BBC is trying to do is to help keep the status quo.

Fedup-I don’t know if you have read any of Graham Hurley’s
faction Second World War novels? In fact more fiction than fact
but terribly good reads.. In Estocada the main theme is the
Germans plans to take over Czechoslavakia in 1938. And the way
that Germany sent agent provocateurs into the Sudetenland
in Czechoslovakia which was primarily inhabited by those
speaking German. The Germans wanted a reason to go
into this area and in time take, over the whole country. So these
provocateurs murdered some of their Sudetenland cousins
and Germany blamed it on the Czechs. As it happens they
didn’t have to fight the very well prepared Czech army because
      Chamberlain appeased Hitler.
I am sure that PUTIN has all of this very much in mind with
the Ukraine. but will Biden appease him? That’s if he is awake.
By the way ” Last Flight to Stalingrad” by Graham Hurley is
another of these novels. And it is terrific.

With all the incoming flak the Conservatives are facing she realises that she has to be seen to be doing something – finally .

It should be scrapped now because we will need all our money for other costs that we are facing in the coming year, ie food, energy, petrol, travel, rates National Insurance etc etc .

Perhaps Priti Patel will get a move on and defend our borders ?

In view of the fact that MP’s have an awful lot of entrepreneurial mates with no experience but prepared to jump in to ‘solve’ the PPE problems, I’m sure some of them can help out to operate a safe way to increase the numbers of invaders in line with Government policy. Let’s call them, ‘Traffickers’. Despite the bluster, there’s still no obvious downsides to this illegal problem and being supporters of this Government – with mates high up – they’re safe as houses.
