Start the Week 21 February 2022

The newspaper version of the BBC The Guardian – has published ‘100 cultural figures on 100 years of the BBC ‘ . Many commenting earn their living from collecting licence tax fees . Clearly they live in an alternative world from real people suffering from constant BBC propaganda . We can expect more during this centenary year …

Ever heard of the “misk Protocol” ? If not why not? The BBC is supposedly there with a remit to entertain inform and educate and although it does none of those things with the amount of money it receives we have a right to expect it to do so.

There has been a long history of discontent in Ukraines Russian speaking Eastern provinces where terrorism has arisen and as a result of negotiation the Minsk Protocols were arrived at, and according to many, the Ukrainians failed to implement what they had earlier agreed to, hence the stage we are at now with Russia moving into Ukraine.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minsk_Protocol

It’s a massively important piece of historical background information which appears to be completely unknown and off limits to the British media.

A faraway country of which we know little.

What I would really enjoy is China invading eastern Russia to claim the land they “rightfully” claim as Chinese territory. Are they even in negotiations with Russia right now over the issue?; maybe they will bring it to the International ‘talking shop’, the UN?

The Russians probably see it along similar lines to the UK moving troops into Northern Ireland.

As Russia China and Iran are now in alliance I think we can look forward to China taking a pop at Taiwan safe in the knoweldge Biden is so hooked on crazed ideas of ‘racism’ he probably thinks it would be ‘racist’ to stop them.

It’s quite obvious that the BBC are determined to keep attacking the Government over Covid. Since the announcement that Covid restrictions are to cease 90% of the BBC coverage is from people wanting to attack the decision. All we see are various academics, opposition politicians, Union leaders etc in an explosion of negativity, instead of celebrating and moving on.

The handling of Covid has turned a minor illness into a major crisis that has changed society. There’s no doubt that the Government has been driven by a media and opposition campaign led by the BBC into a ridiculous series of lockdowns and costly bailout of the economy. Boris had to conform or be removed by a BBC led coup.
Smarmer and Blowhard Blackford are a disgrace.

Occasionally something good comes out watching BBC.

BBC presenter interviewing a restaurant owner and hoping for anti government waffle…

Asked did restrictions ruin your Xmas, no, only 8% down on previous years and thankfully the government didn’t listen to the media and lock us down

Did you struggle to pay wages, no, because of the government help all was good.

Are you worried about lifting all restrictions to early, no , can’t wait, should have happened sooner.

Are you worried about the future, no, bookings are now above pre Pandemic.

The interview was cut short. Some presenters really are parasites.

      Good point, Dafydd!

The main problem with BBC presenters, is that they have to follow their under-managers’ instructions, and as most of them can’t think on their feet anyway, the result is usually an embarrassing mish-mash of poor grunts and squeals while they struggle with the simplest of questions, or more to the point, just ignore answers if these don’t comply with the BBC’s awful agenda!

It’s really a sort of ‘civil service’ attitude, with hard rules – mainly leftie – and absolutely no idea of innovation!

One of the biggest problems, I find, with BBC script-reading ‘journalists’ is that they all too often really don’t care, or even listen to, any response which is not the ‘gotcha’ answer they were after in the first place.

On numerous occasions I have heard, it has been clear that these ‘interviewers’ aren’t listening when, in answering one question, the ‘interviewee’ has also actually answered the next question on the Beeboid’s list, but the Beeboid has stopped listening to the answer he is being given(because it didn’t give them what they wanted), in order read up on, and to get the next scripted question in, usually injected as an interruption, of course.

For the BBC, this is a ‘win-win’ scenario – they prevent the public from hearing anything with which the BBC disagrees, and also get to make out that the interviewee is harried and not in command of his brief. This applies, of course, only to interviewees not on the left of the political spectrum.

Two “police-involved” incidents from the weekend are being reviewed, the Special Investigations Unit – a police oversight organisation – said on Sunday.

No mention of what they are. Classic BBC ‘lies by omission’.

    The “scare quotes” pandemic

The pattern seems to be set – the west talks tough: ‘UK to announce sanctions on Russia...’ (‘i’) – the Russians act tough: ‘…as Putin “orders troops into Ukraine”‘ – the ‘i’ newspaper goes a bit vague and imprecise with the scare quotes there, contributing somewhat to the fog of war.

The Telegraph hints toward the complex situation into which the west has stuck its oar: ‘Russian forces to “keep the peace” in breakaway states after president officially recognises their independence‘ – again with the scare quotes.

The Times, likewise, deploys the western media’s most powerful go-to weapon – snark: ‘President deploys “peacekeeping” force to pro-Russian areas‘ – I suppose if Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya taught us anything, then we do know peacekeeping forces work best in areas of the world where the population actually like you.

There’s no such punctuation equivocation or sarcasm in the Guardian which ses the world very much in black and white: ‘Putin puts Russia on collision course with west over Ukraine‘ – although I’m not convinced the Gruan really and consistently believes the west to be the good guys.

The FT headlines – perhaps inadvertantly – contrast western and Russian strengths and weaknesses: ‘Putin recognises two breakaway republics in western Ukraine. Russia redraws borders. Move sparks condemnation‘ – to be fair, as no doubt you’ll recall, we did exactly the same thing to Yugoslavia.

The Ruskies must see the west is something of a busted flush. “Hey, Ivan, you know they took two years off work… hiding from a bad cold, Tovarisch?”

I seem to remember some Liverpudlian comedian who joked that his old dad once had a fortnight off work at the docks… with a broken Thermos flask.

Work from home throws transport plans off track. The long-delayed Crossrail, the £19bn east-west rail line across London is set to open this year but homeworking has cast doubt on the likely usage of the over-budget railway‘ (FT)

Johnson calls end to Covid legal curbs as cabinet haggles over bill for testing‘ (FT) – these days we couldn’t even impress the Russians with a Prime Minister named Boris.

We may have already scuppered our chances of imposing effective sanctions on Russia. The economic threat is looking to come at us… from quite the opposite direction: ‘Hedge funds blamed. An influx of hedge funds and other financial traders into European gas markets has contributed to the present high and volatile prices, according to Shell‘ (Times) – and of course there is this: ‘Germany shuts down half of its 6 remaining nuclear plants‘ (ABC News January 2022) ‘The decision to phase out nuclear power and shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy was first taken by the center-left government of Gerhard Schroeder in 2002… Germany’s remaining three nuclear plants… will be powered down by the end of 2022… the German government said this week that decommissioning all nuclear plants next year and then phasing out the use of coal by 2030 won’t affect the country’s energy security or its goal of making Europe’s biggest economy “climate neutral” by 2045‘ – best of British luck with that meine Herren.

Ukraine, eh…? Our BBC seems to be making a soap opera out of the crisis: ‘Ukraine crisis: War, sickness and love in rebel-held Ukraine. Cancer, a war that has dragged on for eight years, and the threat of a Russian invasion – Larysa is living with them all, with fortitude and humour. We met the 65-year-old queuing in a hangar, at the Novotroitske crossing point in Eastern Ukraine

How can we expect our BBC ever discern the wood for the trees in their relentless quest for the “human story” ?

I believe it was Martin Amis, in his darkly satirical novel London Fields, who coined a term “catharsis war”. Soap opera war is taking things to whole new level.

Scotland is bringing up the rear for once: ‘Nicola Sturgeon to unveil plans for living with Covid‘ (BBC)

The Telegraph provides a lesson in good old-fashioned conservatism – don’t expect the government or some authority to come along and solve all your problems for you – and coincidentally, we return to the subject of busted flushes: ‘Polluted waterways are the “public’s fault”‘… Members of the public should stop flushing wet wipes down the lavatory and pouring cooking oil down the sink

Which chimes with the freebie Metro headline today: ‘PM: now its over to you

Returning to news of the apparent end of the Koof: ‘Covid: An axe has been taken to testing – does it matter?‘ (Nick Triggle BBC Health Correspondent) – clearly the coronaphobics and the left-leaners in the media are concentrating on this issue of free tests. You have to admire our Nick’s none-too subtle word association prompt – the term axe = Tory cuts.

The Guardian prioritises this aspect – but doesn’t come across as quite as bolshy with its headline: ‘Free mass testing and restrictions to end‘ – I’m guessing the Gruan’s boujee readership might claim their Koof tests on expenses, or at least see it as bit of an investment for some more duvet time off their public sector jobs.

However, the cost-conscious Labour-supporting Mirror is completely aghast: ‘Lateral blow. Free tests axed in PM’s bonfire of virus safeguards. But experts say cuttiung curbs will hit the lowest paid‘ – and of course less testing equals fewer “cases” means less “pandemic” and that will hit the power and importance of the “experts” – sorry, folks, I seem to have caught a serious case of the scare quote virus there.

    America’s ‘mostly peaceful’ riots

In a remarkable act of woke doublethink, a CNN report has described Black Lives Matter protests in Wisconsin as ‘fiery, but mostly peaceful’, while burnt-out cars and a building in flames were visible in the background.

You cannot make this up… A CNN reporter is standing in front of a building engulfed in flames and CNN’s chyron reads:

Then a black guy came running along a warehouse roof from where the activity was and started climbing down. The camera started zooming in : I thought we’d get a good look at him.

Nope : they zoomed in on the presenter to keep the black guy out of the picture.

At the end of the corporation’s all-too-characteristic bulletin, home editor Mark Easton was encouraged to justify and explain the explosion of anger. He suggested that ‘prejudice and unfair privilege’ were factors (I wonder what his salary is, and how much his house is worth) before concluding that we would have to consider how we should respond to what has happened.

I ask: was this coverage fair-minded and even-handed? Or was it almost comically biased in the impression it gave of rampant racism, as well as wilfully oblivious to violence and criminality?

There are many other examples of the Beeb minimising violence, and of its determination to show that all protesters mean well. For example, the BBC News Twitter feed contended that ‘a police horse has bolted at protesters at an anti-racism rally in London’. Only because the poor beast was terrified by flares and missiles, and its police rider had been thrown off.

Even more disgraceful was the doctoring of a photograph by the BBC to remove the image of a masked man who was threatening a line of police with a large piece of wood during Saturday’s protests in Whitehall.

A picture on the BBC London website showed a line of police officers holding back a surging crowd without the intimidating man, alongside the caption: ‘The disturbances took place outside of Downing Street after a largely peaceful protest.’ After complaints by social media users, Auntie was obliged to restore the man brandishing the wood.

University Challenge is about the only BBC programme I still bother to watch.
But like everything else at the BBC, the programme has become infested with wokeness. There’s a growing tendency to pick unjustified questions about women, human rights activists and people of colour (often all three) and which because these folk are historically obscure the teams have real trouble answering.

Recent data by U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows a massive increase in seizures of fentanyl at the border. CBP has seized more than 600 pounds of deadly fentanyl every month for the last 12 months — a record. In the last six months alone, it has seized 5,400 pounds of fentanyl, enough to kill 1.2 billion people or the entire population of the United States more than three times over. This six-month total is more than all of last year, and CBP believes the vast majority of drugs are getting in without being stopped.

The reason for this is clear — the Biden administration’s radical policy changes have encouraged the drug cartels to smuggle more unlawful migrants and lethal, illicit substances across our southern border. The Biden administration systematically dismantled the existing border security framework put in place by the Trump administration, including revoking the COVID-19 emergency declaration for the border, stopping construction of the border fence, suspending the Remain in Mexico policy, canceling Asylum Cooperative Agreements and severely reducing immigration enforcement within the United States. Last month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement had the fewest deportations in its nearly two decades of existence.

    2) BBC Jon Sopel’s twitter feed has the BBC name in it and says “Jon Sopel, BBC North America Editor. My book If Only They Didn’t Speak English is out now.” which references his book and not the fact he is an unbiased and impartial reporter.

    3) BBC Jon Sopel’s twitter’s pinned tweet is from 23May2018 and is about .. himself and his book.

    4) Is BBC Jon Sopel’s book 100% BBC approved thought and unbiased and partial?

    5) Shouldn’t BBC Jon Sopel’s twitter be about the latest news and not himself?

    6) When Jon Sopel sells a book does it go to help pay for the BBC TV Tax – to reduce it? As the BBC are promoting it – thus it is promoted by the BBC TV Tax Payer.

Browsing through the left-wing papers from the US it is clear they have no idea how to handle the Putin/Ukraine affair.

Having spent years bigging up the threat to the US of such waffle as hate speech, pronoun crimes and teenagers in their bedrooms plotting against the State with crossbows they suddenly have no idea how to deal with a massive and ruthless heavily-armed alien power that refuses to play their game and that they cannot cancel or get thrown into court by their crony solicitors and police.

The New York Times even carries a headline: “This could be Biden’s worst mistake” which is strange considering they haven’t to date acknowledged that he is responsible for any mistakes whatsoever.

Maybe this could turn the woke ridden tide and place strong clear and right-thinking leaders in control of Western Democracies instead of the virtue-signalling bunch of radical nutjobs they have right now.

It may turn out that if this escalates it will force a re-reckoning in US political mindsets to force them to focus on real threats instead of the phoney shrills they have indulged in thus far.

The same applies to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Sweden etc. and to a lesser but increasing extent in the UK.

The case against four men charged over the shooting of black equal rights campaigner Sasha Johnson has collapsed.

A trial had been due to start on 7 March but at a hearing on Tuesday, the prosecution announced it would not be pursuing the case following a “review”.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-60479678

The mother-of-two was shot in the head during a silent disco in the garden of a house on Consort Road in Peckham, south London, in May last year.

What on earth is a “silent” disco?

It sounds for instance as sensible as a blindfolded darts tournament.

Clearly a pathetic attempt by the BBC to deflect attention from a “gathering” during lockdown. Odd how they feel compelled to do this in this instance unlike that gathering in the garden of No. 10?

It is also clear that the Police and the CPS want nothing to do with charging the black chaps who put a bullet in her head, another curious conundrum?

Apparently it was all an accident so nothing to see here! Maybe it was the result of innocent blindfolded or silent target practice?

When we see a decision to charge offenders being made on the basis of the effect on society and diversity rather than on the guilt of the defendants, it is clear that justice in this Country is going badly astray and is no longer fit for purpose.

Dear Marianna Spring (BBC wages paid under threat of prosecution),

As I’ve had to look at your BBC news and use other sources to determine that your news is not news but selective editorial opinion I’d like to request that I have a refund for the last 4 years plus get the BBC free from now on.

Please let me know how I can go about this as I am willing to create a full list of articles that I’ve had to investigate plus time taken for me to check your fact checker whilst realising that the BBC intentionally removes news rather than incorrectly report on it, uses images to sway opinion or misleads with the main titles hoping no one reads the full article.

‘Omission is the greatest form of lie.’

Let me know how to go about resolving the issue of paying for something that wastes my time as I have to check each story rather than rely on its accuracy.

How about not a single one of the people there was prepared to talk to the police ?.

Another ‘basic facts’ only report except to give us an entirely irrleveant rundown of just how wonderful Sasha was.

There is a very, very important lesson about what our society has become in this story. The BBC choose not to go near it. It absolutely stinks.

There are still one or two decent presenters on LBC, and as they’re on during the night, it’s quite good entertainment – some of the time! If it isn’t I just switch off…

      From above …
Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn arrived in Moscow this morning for an emergency summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin. After their 6 minute meeting, Mr Corbyn told reporters that it was “imperative that Israeli aggression – sorry, I mean Nato aggression – is resisted” and said he was committing 10,000 British troops to fighting alongside Russian forces in “defending the motherland”.

Prime Minister Corbyn later addressed the Duma, the Russian parliament, in a special session which was billed as “The World Resists”. Miguel Díaz-Canel, the president of Cuba, Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and Daniel Ortega, president of Nicaragua also spoke.

A few minutes ago, the BBC News autocue-reader informed us that Biden was late for his epoch-defining press conference on Ukraine.

Oh, give the guy a break, BBC.

First he has to be woken up from his mid-day nap, and injected with whatever they inject him with to keep him going.
Then his “butt has to be wiped” (his words) and his nappy changed.
Next he has to be dressed in those natty suits his wife/ nurse chooses for him.

Then begins the hard part: rehearsing those speeches his speech-writers draw up, reading them over and over until he almost sounds like he understands what he’s saying.

Finally, the most tricky part of all: memorising all those difficult names likes “Putin” and “Ukraine”. (After many attempts, his aides gave up completely on “Sergey Shoygu”, the Russian Minister of Defence.)

Now, at last, the POTUS, Commander-in-Chief and Leader of the Free World is ready to be led by the hand, carefully positioned over the floor markings in front of the cameras, to mumble his way through the words on the teleprompter, then take pre-arranged questions from tame pre-selected journalists, or, more likely, stroll off, without taking questions, into the nearest wall, wrong door, garden window or tradesman’s entrance – all to the adoring commentary in hushed tones from the BBC.
