In a frank interview with The BMJ, Hunt who ran the NHS for six years from 2012 to 2018 says workforce planning needs urgent reform, and calls on the government to publish figures on staff requirements each year.
“If you don’t plan for the NHS workforce strategically, it ends up costing the taxpayer much more because the NHS then ends up recruiting locum doctors and agency nurses who are much more expensive,” he says.

The Euro zone trade deficit for August was published today. It’s a monster. We’ve never before had sustained deficits of this size. When you’re tempted to think the Euro has fallen too much, keep this picture in mind. The shock hitting Europe is massive. Euro will keep falling…
The trouble that the media which supports remain or even rejoining is not posting any of this information and the nutters who think Brexit was a disaster are just not seeing the reality of what is unfolding in the EU.
‘Wrong person in wrong job syndrome’: Jeremy Hunt should be at Health; Jacob Rees-Mogg would be better as Chancellor or any other suitably qualified Conservative MP.
Trouble is Rees-Mogg is a Brexiteer .
Hunt is a ……………? as is Truss
I foresee see a number of Tory MPs moving to The Reform Party.
My view – Tory Government is Toast .
Any Tory Brexiteers here care to share their opinion.
Jacob Rees-Mogg said that anti-Islamic comments have no place in society and people had thoughts
Anti-Islam comments are deeply disgraceful. As I pointed out, they’re actually against the Catechism of the Catholic Church, so on all grounds, these comments are wrong. I oppose them, I disapprove of them, I reject them.
Taffman – it depends what you define as ‘Tory ‘. The current government is not Conservative / Tory – it is blue labour .
It thinks it will be popular chucking public money at any crap campaign the BBC approve of – feeding every school kid with other taxpayers ‘ money …..
Benefits are about to be linked to inflation – another labour tax when benefits need to be cut to force the feckless out to work … ….
…. The BBC is showing pictures of the Chinese ambo ( Jeremy hunt ) arriving in Downing Street . I wonder if the idiot one left a note saying ‘there s no money ‘…?
Only Farage has the recognition to form a new party – but he won’t …
taffman, yes, those two may indeed be EUinclined. That was partly behind my post. In addition, Hunt at Health would strike a measure of fear into the NHS and might lead to some much-needed reforms there. I wish Truss could see the bigger picture but I suspect she is wedded to old Tory ideology and dogma and wished to pay back her supporters in the national Conservative Party for their votes that got her into No.10..
In doing so, she has now made it plain that she does not understand where inflation comes from and what to do about it to reduce it. She is not the first politician to be in that position of ignorance about inflation. Maggie Thatcher famously tripped over that kerb-stone at the start of her Premiership in 1979.
“Any Tories here?” What do you mean, ideological HighAnglican, Tories as in Keith Joseph? (Yes, I know his ‘persuasion’) Or Willie Whitelaw?
The problems for smaller parties are numerous:
1. They are vulnerable to infiltrators,
2. Egos get in the way of unity, and
3. They often have enough ‘fruitloops’ among the membership to dictate some daft policies that make it onto their manifesto.
If Reform could get together with UKIP and anyone else of a conservative or Conservative persuasion and deal with those three problems and field sufficient candidates then they might get a look in at the Ballot box in 2024. They needed to start work on that last year. Getting it done in time for 2024 will be a big ask.
Clarification 10 July: Michael Robbins was originally quoted as saying: “There’s a growing realisation that democracy is not a perfect form of government, and it won’t fix everything.” This has been changed to “perception”.
Yeah alright Arabs so you dont like your people being allowed to vote for those who govern?
Lets face it the only reason any Arab countries have done well financially is oil, and thats coming to an end soon.
Dubai will turn back to desert.
Wild Bill, whilst serving in the RN I had occasion to visit the Persian Gulf, we followed the Royal Yacht in 1979 when the Queen toured the gulf. I happened to get into a conversation with a Kuwaiti, he said, My grandfather had camel, my father had a Cadillac, I have a Rolls Royce, my son may have a camel.
Hunt was a zero covid lockdown fanatic who advocated for mandatory jabs including children. He shouldn’t be anywhere near Health. He shouldn’t be Chancellor either but definitely not responsible for health policies.
I’ve just come back from my occasional trip to the National Gallery – I get distracted by other people in there still spending more time with iPhones than the pictures ….
…. But … anyway .. BBC types standing outside number 10 waiting for more coffins to come out the front door .
But tell me – who owns Jeremy hunt ? Is it the WEF – EU of PRC …. I understand his wife is Chinese ( or was it dirty jap?)
I don’t recall him being famed on his economic comments – I understand the outgoing PM has made a statement – prior to her exit in a few hours / days / weeks (2) …
The only thing to keep the failed rubbish blue Labour Party in power will be a new PM by acclamation – otherwise they are toast and hopefully the end of the Party and a True British Right Wing one to be formed ….
That Truss one sure had me over – I thought she might be tough right wing cookie – but turns out she is just a cookie …
Oops – just seen previous posts showing who Hunt belongs to – it’s China …. )
….. just think – the guys in the OBR have been working on the report to justify the dumb budget – now they have to start again because of the corporation tax U turn .
Fed, more like water in the Ketchup edition or water in the Soup edition if you have been to the National Gallery today. 😉 🙂 That is going to be embarrassing for some manufacturers somewhere.
Oh Hunt was in China when he mistakenly said his is Japanese ..maybe he was reading off an autocue.
“Jeremy Hunt is one of the richest politicians in the UK, largely thanks to the online education business, Hotcourses, that he founded.
Hunt got the idea for Hotcourses after a stint teaching English in Japan. The company has made him millions of dollars — and it also introduced him to his wife.
Hunt’s wife, Lucia Guo, comes from Xi’an in China. Hunt first met Guo in 2008, when she was working at Warwick University recruiting Chinese students for the university. They married in July 2009 and have a son and two daughters; Guo and the three children are low-profile and rarely appear in public”

Make no mistake Scotland under the snp is headed down a dangerous road.

Not a word from Sturgeon/Yousuf/Dornan.
3 of snp the most prominent protectors of all things oirland>
These 3 were screaming and yelling last year when footage emerged of Rangers FC players singing offensive and sectarian lyrics……..The above 3 immediately called for investigations

The SNP have almost completely realised their transformation

As a leader she has no gravitas. Just look at her visual demeanour. She’s limp wristed and has a weak voice. She’s no table thumper which is what’s needed to get her point across. Pictured yesterday: Liz Truss leaving No.10 mouth open, looking gormless, used in three UK titles.
Liz Truss as PM…oh dear…Hapless, hopeless and clueless. She models herself on The Iron Lady, but makes Mrs May look resolute.
She’s been PM a month and already the whole thing is a bloody shambles. Chancellor sacked, a plethora of humiliating U turns and now possibly the worst news of all.
The new chancellor is Jeremy Hunt. Ye gods!
I honestly think she could be walking the plank before Christmas…
Tories are finished. Its Labour’s turn; the media agree.

I’ve never been a Tory
but it strange to me that people here I thought were Tories
are suddenly vehemently anti-Truss, just like the BBC are trying to brainwash them to be.
I’ve always been Right Wing – as a teenager I saw the best Tory PM of them all – Mrs T – although she lost the plot at the end – and never took on the BBC.
don’t you get it ? She turns out to be incompetent – a true Right Winger would not have positioned her party to be so dumb –
– and would have known how the markets would react to dumb budgets . Why do you think I describe them as ‘blue labour ‘?
The real fun is going to be the arrival of a labour government with a big majority followed by inevitable civil wars and failure ….
The country being in an even worse state than it is now .
Even a competent red Labour Party ( if ever ) will have a hard time making Britain Great again . Their energies will be divided by Scottish nationalism – the rejoin the EU factions – a crashed economy – upward crime – stroppy unions – an ongoing war – and whatever else comes along …
The biggest downside will be that the BBC will be even safer than it already is – although funding will be tighter…
On TalkTV Jordan Peterson is on

oh hang on right now, when Piers put it to him that people say he’s an icon for incels

are the same people screaming next zero projects that will cost the UK trillions

I wish people would take the time to learn what actually happened with the mini budget.
It wasn’t so much the silly tax cuts as the unlimited energy subsidy which weren’t funded plus tax cuts which made it worse.

AFAIK The energy was funded
basically it was a loan
The public get a discount this year
but in future years that loan is paid back
they wait for energy prices to drop
but the public bills will fall by less.

I’ve never been a Tory
but it strange to me that people here I thought were Tories
are suddenly vehemently anti-Truss, just like the BBC are trying to brainwash them to be.

Stew – the BBC doesn’t need to do much ….

On TalkTV Jordan Peterson is on
yet boring Piers Morgan is doing all the talking.
oh hang on right now, when Piers put it to him that people say he’s an icon for incels
Jordan starts crying and says actual it’s terrible that caring about young men, who are a disenfranchised voice is somehow seen as a bad thing
and that it makes him sad about the state of our society
