M spring has a new entry on her CV – this one is a very long and tedious victim piece in the DT today – I can’t be asked to read it as feel she is just a vacant self promoter ( is that ‘hate ‘?) –
Anyway – surprisingly the DT allowed comments – which as might be expected tell her to grow up … she boasts about the number of death threats she gets as well as trolls ….

Sign of the times that someone so in love with themselves and driven – should get so much attention … maybe it’s the tight sweater …

      Review
This book is full of unbelievable nonsense. I am very grateful to Marianna Spring for her admirable attempts to defend us against it ― Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye

A tour de force… Something has gone very badly wrong with social media – Marianna Spring wades into the cesspit on our behalf ― Jeremy Vine

Brave and brilliant… Marianna Spring lowers a bucket into the well of online misinformation and bile, and pulls up clarity and understanding ― Fiona Bruce

Marianna Spring is one of the most talented journalists of her generation. Her journey through Conspiracyland shows in chilling detail why we should all be deeply concerned about trolls and conspiracy theorists… essential reading ― Jeremy Bowen

An essential exploration into the heart of conspiracyland, Marianna Spring’s journey sheds light on the shadowy world of disinformation and the powerful role of social media in shaping our beliefs. With gripping narratives and heart-wrenching personal stories, this book is a crucial read for understanding the intricate web of misinformation that influences our modern world. ― Eliot Higgins, author of the Sunday Times bestseller We Are Bellingcat

A powerful, brave voice in the noisy age of disinformation and online abuse. I’ve admired Marianne’s courageous journalism for a while. This book continues and builds on that excellent work. ― Anita Anand

Marianna has brought to light astonishing narratives… She reminds us how seriously we must now take fake news and the spread of false lies, and the very real havoc it can wreak ― Emily Maitlis

Of course the streak of limp string is; he's BBC thru and thru like a stick of rock to mix analogies, pushing politicised ideology on favoured topics all the time.

As do they all. Japan is in recession too. The BBC goes no where near anything in Rafah that spoils the narrative. And they all try to play it out on Twitter with their thug Kapos.

What, as early as 8.25pm tonight? Bloomin’ hell!

But this is actually one of those old chestnuts which gets recycled every couple of years by the climate alarmists, desperate for publicity and funding. The notion that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), or ‘Gulf Stream’ in popular parlance, is about to collapse has no scientific evidence. Forget the claims of studies claiming to go back hundreds or thousands of years – detailed, credible measurements only started in 2001. Even the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) dismisses it:

“It is very unlikely that the AMOC will undergo a large abrupt transition during the course of the 21st century.” – IPCC 4th Assessment Report, 2007.

They repeated that sentiment in the 5th Assessment Report in 2013 and again in the 6th Assessment Report in 2021. In fact, the 6th report concluded “There is no observational evidence of a trend in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), based on the decade-long record of the complete AMOC and longer records of individual AMOC components.”

The full IPCC reports are actually much more cautious and restrained than you might think. The problem is that the politicians and media tend to only read the short summary section and then cherry pick the more speculative and worse case items, whilst disregarding any of the qualifying notes and references.

I bet the Home Office has no stats on employment antics of the cross channel boaters.

    From here

However, that does not necessarily support a rush to employ migrants – not least because, if one consults the detailed employment statistics, for unemployed, economically active people, they present an interesting picture.

Of all the groups, one finds that the highest unemployment rates are amongst the Pakistani and Bangladeshi groups (9 percent), with the blacks close behind (7 percent). The white British have the lowest unemployment rate (3 percent), lower than any other group.

These figures, though, are for 2022 and they do not tell the whole story. Currently, more than 5 million people are now on out-of-work benefits, up from 3.5 million back in 2015. Additionally, the ONS reports 2.8 million of employment age who are neither in work nor looking for a job because of long-term sickness.

According to NIESR, claimants are typically spending longer on benefits, rather than snapping up the jobs on offer, despite the 6.5 percent increase in average pay in the year to November. But, even if that is true, the increases in mortgages, rents, and cost-of-living – particularly energy – has for many people outweighed any pay rises.

When Vladimir Putin says publicly that a President Biden is better for Russia than a President Trump keep in mind: the Kremlin will be well aware that, right now, any public endorsement by Putin of a US politician does that politician no favours.

So if Putin says he would prefer Trump then that makes Trump a Putin puppet. But when Putin says that he would prefer Biden then he is trying to hurt Biden?

So the BBC have been obliged to get rid of another hate-filled Muslim over disgusting online messages against Jews.

It makes me pretty convinced that this pure hatred and vengeance by Muslims is actually directed at any non-Muslim as a matter of course and it is only bubbling to the surface against Jews with the excuse of Gaza.

Sooner or later it must surface as outright violence, so entrenched in their medieval religion they are. Christians are pretty much guaranteed to be one of the next targets.

Stew, too ‘wow’ to be true. UK population is ‘officially’ somewhere near 69,000,000. You are quoting the population figure much nearer to the 2021 ‘official’ figures. You need to be more up-to-date. Not only did the ONS state on 31 January that the UK population would be over 70 million by 2026 but former President Trump said in reply to a question at a Republican rally on 11 February prior to the Republican Primary that he would say “Russia should do whatever they want” if NATO members did not contribute to the NATO strength or words to that effect. So I was right, you were wrong.

Excellent news – the bbc and itv have lost the rights to show live FA cup footy matches …. No more will suffer the ‘major of the cup cliche ‘…. See the DT below if you care ….

STARTS The BBC and ITV have lost the rights to the FA Cup to TNT Sports and now face a fight to sub-let them from the pay-TV network.

The world’s oldest cup competition will go back behind a paywall – at least in part – from the season after next after Warner Bros Discovery struck a four-year deal with the Football Association to show a record number of ties.

It included a commitment to make matches from every round free-to-air, either in partnership with a terrestrial channel or via its own platforms.

Telegraph Sport has been told sub-letting those rights to the BBC or ITV is the most likely outcome, which would mean one of them losing coverage of one of sport’s crown jewels and one of their few live football properties.

Discovery’s deal is similar to that which saw it snatch the exclusive rights to the Olympics from the BBC almost a decade ago, since when it has entered into a partnership with the corporation.

The new FA Cup contract will see every match from the third round onwards televised live except those played during the Saturday 3pm blackout.

The deal also includes the rights to the Community Shield and the FA Youth Cup semi-finals and final.

Mark Bullingham, FA chief executive, said: “The Emirates FA Cup is our crown jewel, and it helps us to provide vital investment across every level of English football, supporting clubs, communities, facilities and the wider grassroots game. Every season, and across every round, The Emirates FA Cup creates incredible moments and unforgettable memories for fans, and this new partnership will see selected matches shown live on TNT Sports, as well as free-to-air, from the first round of the competition through to the final at Wembley Stadium.

“TNT Sports are an outstanding broadcaster with an impressive record of showing some of the biggest and best sporting events around the world, so we are delighted to be working with them on our shared commitment and long-term vision that will ensure the Emirates FA Cup continues to thrive over the coming years.”

Andrew Georgiou, president and managing director Warner Bros Discovery UK & Ireland and WBD Sports Europe, said: “TNT Sports is proud to partner with the FA to present more matches of the world’s most prestigious domestic cup competition than ever before alongside our great line up of the Premier League and Uefa Champions League and club competitions, bringing even more live football to our TNT Sports customers.

“The Emirates FA Cup and the incredible stories it creates every season goes well beyond football, making TNT Sports the perfect home as we continue to tell the stories that matter most to the fans. We have a huge amount of respect for the place that this world-famous competition has in the hearts of football fans and that’s why continuing to ensure we maintain a level of free-to-air coverage is important for us and the FA.”ENDS

If I went into any professional company and someone like that girl started talking to me like that, I would instantly think ‘Get me someone who knows WTF they are talking about’. She smacks of a quota idiot reading a script. Or is it just chance she’s a BAME female ?.

The bit which irks me about BBC Verify is how they totally avoid the real questions. In this case, was the IDF fighting Hamas or not ?. All this video does is confirm the IDF are going in using information from the the most biased sources possible.

And right at the end this clueless women tells us how Israel CLAIM that Hamas are using the hospital ‘without supplying any evidence’.

After ALL we have seen and ALL the other places + hospitals we have PROOF Hamas was using, how dare these people try to infer that it’s not true.

The main use of this article is to prove how ‘BBC Verify’ has been manned up by all the quota staff who are clearly such low-grade, they can’t be given any real reporting to do. Here are the names of those involved in that journalistic masterpiece:

America has become a laughing stock on the world stage and the country is close to civil war with the wedge they have driven through society. If they succeed in their attempts to remove him from the race, I strongly suspect it will result in violence.

So I read the BBC article to see if they go anywhere near that. Of course they don’t. They actually suggest Putin said it because he knows everybody hates him so much, it will help Trump.

Pathetic biased BBC ‘journalism’ once again.

The comments are hilarious. One suggesting that according to the NHS he should have had a stroke, two heart attacks, and turbo cancer by now. Another commentator suggesting he should demand his money back as he did not get what he paid for.

In one of the appointments Engler was not even in the country and has a flight to prove it.

Kingswood By-election result. Labour beat the Tories to win the seat.
Significantly the Reform candidate came in third with over ten percent of the vote. That is much better than expected.
Initially, Reform had decided not to stand a candidate. The person or persons who made that decision need to admit they got it badly wrong. Reform have to be more adventurous.

I see Farage moaning in the Express that Labour and Tories have lots of people on the ground to get their voters out. Of course, they do, Nigel, they don’t destroy their own party when things don’t go well as you did Ukip. They know that they have to ride the storm out. Even the stupid Greens haven’t made that mistake.

I hope Reform members, whoever they are, are planning long term. It could become a real force.

      Update,

Labour have humiliated the Tories in Wellingborough winning with 45.9 percent. The Tories got 24.6 percent.

The only good news is that Reform came in third with a respectable 13 percent.

I sort of hoped Ben Habib would come second but I’m sure reform is on the way up if they continue to fight.

I will of course vote Reform at my next opportunity but I think that the overthrow of the LibLabCon coalition will depend on how things develop in Europe and US politics.
If there is a strong swing to the right in Europe later this year and if Trump wins a second term , then we will have a much more favourable climate for Reform to gain widespread support in the UK. LibLabCon will have fewer friends and many more enemies overseas and its Islamophilia will look increasingly absurd as Europe cracks down hard on Islam.
It will be clear to all that the neo liberalism and hyperglobalism can be beaten and that in the UK , despite having recently elected a Labour government , we need to follow suit . That will create a much more favourable electoral climate for Reform at elections post Nov 2024.

An interesting perspective, pug. You have to figure in the lower overall turnout, though.

That the mass of potential voters is not willing to swallow the Labour nonsense is encouraging. Sadly to defeat the looming socialist/Islamic victory at the polls later this year the reluctant voters must be encouraged to turn out and save themselves.
Can we see Rishi Sunak providing the inspiration? Not a dog’s show. The Tories can only save themselves by ditching him pronto and replace him with an energetic populist who will espouse most of the views that Reform are putting forward! I doubt that will happen.
For sensible people the only other show in town will be Reform.
    Ride the wave folks.

A very disappointing pair of election results because –

1 turn out was above 30% I was hoping lower
      2 reform only came third
3 the blue labour didn’t lose their deposits
4 people are still voting for blue labour

I think I read yesterday that 58 blue labour MPs are standing down to take their golden goodbyes next time – I hope there will be a lot more ….

I was thinking about my position – and what blue labour has done for me . The answer is – nothing – all it has done is put up my taxes . So why would I vote for a deceitful bunch of socialists?

It’s a pity ‘reform ‘didn’t keep the UKIP name because it is lousy at marketing – but perhaps the msms bares lone responsibility for that .

      YOUR COMPLAINT as of 2018:

Complaint Summary: The omission is the most powerful form of lie …

Full Complaint: “Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed (May and Corbyn’s old speeches): everything else is public relations.” – Orwell

Theresa May … being put forward as Prime Minister and issuing a general election on implementing Brexit which was about immigration and sovereignty. … these speeches were never mentioned on the BBC £3.5bn news or other media outlets …
1978 … “The moment the minority threatens to become a big one, people get frightened.” – Margaret Thatcher 1978

2012 … “Two and a half years ago, the coalition government was formed, and we made a clear promise to the British public. After thirteen years of uncontrolled mass immigration, this government would reduce and control immigration.” – Theresa May 2012

2015 … “Because when immigration is too high (no figure given), when the pace of change is too fast, it’s impossible to build a cohesive society.” – Theresa May 2015

Jeremy Corbyn … with all the news on BBC £3.5bn Service regarding the Iran Nuclear Deal, Jeremy Corbyn has not been asked why he backs Al Quds protests and has spoken at them or why his is not vocal on Iran’s ‘death to’ position with Israel.

2012 … Jeremy Corbyn speaks at Al Quds march, Al Quds is the protest for all the oppressed but was initiated by an oppressor Ayatollah Khomeini. Jeremy Corbyn does not chastise the Iranian regime.

2018 … Iran release a ‘Death to Israel’ and ‘Death to America’ Government approved emoji. But this is not mentioned when talking about Iran by the BBC or other outlets.

MPs expenses …. it was in 2008 that MPs used expenses to fill their own pockets or shredded. UK MPs on both sides have talked about reducing expenses and recession and austerity. Yet, since 2010 MPs have enjoyed a pay increased of 18%. How come the BBC news has not reported on this when talking to MPs?

“The omission is the most powerful form of lie, and it is the duty of the historian to ensure that those lies do not creep into the history books.” – George Orwell

      BBC NONE RESPONSE …

Thank you for getting in touch regarding BBC News.

I understand you have concerns about the integrity of BBC News reporting over the last few years.

BBC News aims to show the political reality and provide a forum for discussion on issues, giving full opportunity for all sides of the debate to be heard and explored. Senior editorial staff within BBC News and the BBC’s Executive Board ensure that editorial guidelines are adhered to.

Our News editors ensure that over a reasonable period of time we reflect the range of significant views, opinions and trends on particular issues, but it’s important to add here that our published Editorial Guidelines explain that not every issue or viewpoint necessarily has to be included in each individual report.

The key point is that the BBC as an organisation has no view or position itself on anything we may report upon – our aim is to identify all significant views, and to test them rigorously and fairly on behalf of our audiences.

In dealing with any controversial issue, we are required to give a fair and balanced report, but balance cannot be judged simply on the basis of the amount of time allocated to the representatives of either side of an argument. One spokesperson may make their points concisely, while another needs rather longer to explain a point of view or a complex issue, plus a change to the existing position or status quo may take longer to clarify.

Account also needs to be taken of the way a subject is covered over a period of time; perfect balance is difficult to achieve on every single individual occasion, while overall it is a more achievable goal taking into account our coverage as a whole over a period of time.

That said, we do value your feedback about this issue. All complaints are sent to senior management every morning and I included your points in this overnight report.

These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensures that your complaint has been seen by the right people quickly. This helps inform their decisions about current and future programmes.

Once again, thank you for contacting us.

      Kind regards

      Gareth Murray

GRETA to visit country and protest?
    NO?

One of the worst methane leaks ever recorded took place last year at a remote well in Kazakhstan, new analysis shared with BBC Verify has shown.

It is estimated that 127,000 tonnes of the gas escaped when a blowout started a fire that raged for over six months.

Methane is much more potent a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.

Buzachi Neft, the company that owns the well, denies a “substantial amount” of methane was leaked.

That Kazakh leak was “It is estimated that 127,000 tonnes of the gas escaped”
IS THAT A BIG NUMBER ?
Annual world LNG is 400 million
so the leak is less than a 3,000th of LNG alone

“global production of natural gas is forecast to increase by approximately two percent in 2023 to reach 4.1 trillion cubic meters.”

        each billion is 1.36million tonnes
        so 4100x 1.36= 5576 million tonnes
So the leak is one 44,000th of world annual gas production

        • tomo says:

Actual methane to atmosphere significantly lower than claimed.

An old trope, doubtless impacted by several LNG projects in Nigeria on stream in the last 10 years – but – the oft quoted metric of Nigeria flaring / burning in 28 days more Methane than the entire United Kingdom’s consumption of that gas for all purposes stands as far as I can tell. To mention it though – that’s racist. The ISS astronauts were told to stop photographing and commenting on Nigerian gas flaring ?

But that doesn’t stop the claims like the Kazakhstan pant wetting from the usual suspects….

“What about New York those young illegals who beat up cops to death, were let free by judges and laughed about it ?”

.. As ever when I checked America is a weird place where people on both sides prefer simple stories rather than complex truth
    Musk did reference the incident
“As happened this week, you can literally assault police officers in broad daylight in New York, be released with no bail, give everyone the finger and *still* not be deported!!”
    https://nypost.com/2024/01/30/metro/cops-beaten-by-rowdy-migrant-mob-in-caught-on-video-assault-near-times-square-and-suspects-later-freed-without-bail/
    .. https://nypost.com/2024/02/03/metro/migrants-from-city-shelters-wreak-havoc-on-times-square/

Yes there is video of officers getting beaten , and officer lying on the ground as kids get a few kicks in.
But the police bodycam has a strange cut in the middle as if the kids just suddenly jumped them.

So the lefties then jump in and make an extreme claim
“NY police lied and deceptively edited video to make it look like they were assaulted by Latino youth, when in fact they assaulted the youth unprovoked and his friends responded in kind.”

    When you piece it altogether
NY decided to run a huge homeless centre in Times Square, Candler Building
There had been allegations of shoplifting spree ..
A gang of illegal youths are hanging around the building almost blocking the street, they need clearing.. but just two cops turn up
The kids are belligerent but slowly most move away,
Yellow jacket (Yohenry Brito 24) is the last he does start to move away but pauses at a baby buggy he never touched before, One cop pounces on him and drags him into the corner of a doorway
Dunno if words happened or whether he suspected stolen goods etc,
The kid starts flaying the other cop tries to help him
The youths turn around and start on the cops one falls to the ground, the kids get away
No one talks about the cops injuries as if it’s not so serious, but the video goes viral
Kids mostly flee on busses to California
Some kids are caught, but the court lets them out without bail. They seem super belligerent as they exit one giving the finger
    That goes viral.
A church posts $15K bail for Yohenry Brito, so he is free too

Two weeks later one of the kids Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, is arrested again
This time for being in a 4 man shoplifting gang at Macy’s
