Midweek 21st August 2024

Well the blob is well and truly on holiday – this year it is two tier themed – the reds and their BBC executives are in their villas figuring out how to victimise the British even more … more taxes – more control – more censorship … it’s a happy ship for them . But can I- as volunteer moderator – thank so many people contributing to this site – for their restraint in such ‘challenging ‘ times …cheers . We must continue to witness what is being done to a once Great Country .

We asked Democrats for one thing they admire about Trump

In the U.K., the same question might be asked about the national broadcaster

Interesting how such as Today, TNA and the Mad Al and Rory show on the Lineker network attract little interest.

In the letter, organised by the Committee for Academic Freedom, academics argued the decision ‘appears to reflect the view, widespread among opponents of the Act, that there is no ”free speech problem” in UK universities, that the very idea of such a problem is a fiction put about to divert attention from bigger issues’.”

How come it doesn’t seem to affect the rest of Europe.

I googled the comparisons with Europe and that’s copied and pasted below.

The percentages are, first one UK rise, second one European rise, the third is how much more expensive it is in the UK.

    Start.
The UK has continued to experience significant increases in both electricity and gas prices from 2021 to 2024. Meanwhile, the European average for energy prices decreased during this same period. This indicates that the energy crisis has severely affected the UK.

Metric UK European Average (25 countries) Difference
    Electricity Price Change (2021-2024) +66% +34.76% +31.24 percentage points
    Gas Price Change (2021-2024) +129% +64.29% +64.71 percentage points
    Electricity Price (2024, €/kWh) €0.40 €0.25 +60% higher in the UK
    Gas Price (2024, €/kWh) €0.13 (13.61 p/kWh) €0.12 (12.59 p/kWh) +8% higher in UK
The data reveals that the UK has faced more severe energy price increases than the European average. Both electricity and gas prices have risen significantly more in the UK.

    End.

It’s a good job that 80% of pensioners are millionaires (as we are constantly being told)

As we end the week the bbc is hit with another scandal – no no it’s not the footy pundit and his sexy texts ( published in the saucy Sunday papers ?) but not – it paedo bbc drivers …

    From the DT

STARTS The BBC used chauffeurs convicted of paedophilia to transport celebrities and high-profile guests over almost 30 years, The Telegraph can reveal.

Niven Sinclair was paid millions of pounds to run a chauffeur service for the broadcaster from the late 1970s until at least 2006, despite being a paedophile – with convictions that included raping a child at gunpoint.

His firm was responsible for transporting celebrities including Jimmy Savile as well as guests including Ted Heath, the prime minister at the time, to and from BBC studios.

One of the drivers employed by Sinclair was David Smith, another convicted paedophile who went on to abuse at least two children at the BBC’s studios.

Now, one of Smith’s victims has spoken for the first time and reveals he is considering legal action against the broadcaster.

Alex Cooke, who has waived his right to anonymity, said that he believed the corporation should be “held to account”.
It is the latest scandal to engulf the broadcaster: as it faces questions over its handling of allegations against Huw Edwards; claims of abusive behaviour on the set of Strictly Come Dancing; and this week sacked former footballer Jermaine Jenas as a presenter following complaints about inappropriate communications to colleagues including text messages.

The Telegraph can now expose the full story of how two paedophiles were able to operate apparently unimpeded under the noses of BBC bosses.

Both Sinclair and Smith had BBC passes and drove cars with number plates referring to the corporation.
At one stage, the firm, which was known colloquially as Niven Cars, had 150 cars servicing the broadcaster.

Smith had at least five convictions for abusing children by the time he began working as a chauffeur for the BBC in the early 1980s.

It is understood that Smith was convicted in 1989 of abusing another child.

It is unclear exactly when Smith stopped working for the car company, but a former employee said he was still there in the early 1990s.

Mr Cooke told The Telegraph that Smith “leveraged his BBC connectivity” when abusing him as a child and took him to Television Centre in West London on a couple of occasions.

Speaking out for the first time, Mr Cooke said he was sexually abused by Smith between the ages of 12 and 14.

Mr Cooke reported the crime to the police and in 2001, Smith pleaded guilty to abusing him.

Mr Cooke said that one of the allegations Smith pleaded guilty to related was to abuse which occurred at the BBC’s Television Centre in West London.
Mr Cooke told The Telegraph that he believed Smith and his boss, Sinclair, whom he met, “should have been vetted by the BBC even back then”.

He said that he “hope[d] to understand is whether or not the BBC have been negligent in the way that they have dealt with child sexual abuse and particularly, surrounding Niven Sinclair and Niven Cars and people that worked for him”.

Mr Cooke said that, while he was not looking for money, other victims may need to be “compensated”. He said he had spoken to lawyers about the case.

Another of Smith’s victims killed himself in 2015. The man previously told his family he was abused at the BBC’s studios. Smith was prosecuted and convicted of abusing the child as part of the 2001 trial.

Smith was found dead in 2013 on the eve of another sexual abuse trial. By that time, he had 22 convictions for child abuse. It was reported at the time that court documents said Smith “was contracted to work as a driver for the BBC”.

Sinclair started working for the BBC in 1977. According to an article published by the broadcaster, he was “running” a significant part of the “transport” for one of the studios in London.

In the article, the BBC describes the chauffeur as the “driving force” and “hero” of the organisation who “delivered thousands of guests to the studio on time

They said he assisted both Panorama and Newsnight and in 2005 had 92 cars “working around the clock for scores of programmes”. By then his firm was one of 11 BBC transport suppliers.

The BBC also said that he attended meetings at their studios on election night.

When Sinclair first started transporting BBC guests in 1977, he had already been convicted of abusing children in 1961, 1967 and 1971.

According to court documents, 15 of the offences related to sexual abuse of children, including one child being raped at gunpoint. Sinclair served several years in prison.

In 1971, Sinclair also pleaded guilty to possessing a Beretta automatic pistol without a firearms certificate, having it in a public place and having a pistol despite being a convict. He was given three concurrent two-year prison terms.

Sinclair was accused of abusing children in the 1980s, but no further charges followed.

In 2000, the contract with Sinclair’s firm was suspended amid cost-saving measures at the BBC, before being restarted when staff became unhappy with the replacement. At the time it was reported that Sinclair “demanded a stiff” price from the corporation “to resolve the uproar”.

    He died in 2017.

A BBC spokesman said: “Today’s BBC has incredibly robust safeguarding policies and processes, which have been strengthened decade upon decade.

“If people have any complaints or concerns to put to us we want to hear from them, and they will be treated with the utmost care and seriousness.”

The Daily T Investigates: ‘He paraded me around the BBC – then abused me’
Victim speaks for first time. Plus: How Telegraph revealed story of child abuse at BBC

From Jimmy Savile to Huw Edwards, the BBC has in recent years been associated with a number of high-profile cases of paedophilia. But there have also been other cases of child abuse linked to the BBC, and now the organisation is facing fresh questions about whether it has done enough to protect children by properly vetting people coming into its offices or working on its behalf.

In this special episode of The Daily T hosted by head of investigations Claire Newell, we reveal a previously untold story of child sexual abuse at the hands of someone working for the organisation and expose how the BBC contracted a convicted paedophile as a chauffeur for 30 years

Confession – I’m a Clarkson fan – I really like those Amazon prime shows – just got to the end of series 3. Today he opened his new pub – complete with what is reported as a reasonable ‘queue ‘ no traffic chaos – just the British going for a beer ….

Although I am a born townie – my heart is in the country – I’ve still got my shotgun ticket – although I had to give up my rifles – I love rough shooting and eating the game I shoot – so Clarkson appeals to me in a way nothing on the BBC ever can ..and I really hope the next series is as good as the last – it’s worth the subscription ….

Time for a doxing news thread with so much gas lighting you’ll need to wear shades ( in jokes on the site ) ..
