75% of 6000 classified suicides were male – surely there needs to be parity of death since everything must be balanced now ?
The real number must be double that as I understand coroners do their best to avoid the suicide verdict for a variety of reasons . I didnā€™t see what the age / race breakdown is ā€¦ but I can guess the profile ā€¦.

BBC’s disinformation correspondent and chief fact-checker Marianna Spring is accused of lying on her CV by falsely claiming to have worked with a Beeb journalist when applying for a job in Moscow

The BBC’s disinformation correspondent is facing claims that she lied about her experience on her CV.

Marianna Spring, 27, shot to prominence with her reporting on the way social media has been used to peddle false information.

But she is now facing the embarrassing allegation that she gave misleading information herself – one claim of working with a respected BBC correspondent – to try to secure work.

According to a report, about five years ago Ms Spring was trying to get work as a freelancer in Moscow for US-based news site Coda Story.

An article in The New European said when she applied to the website’s editor-in-chief Natalia Antelava in 2018, she said she had worked alongside BBC correspondent Sarah Rainsford on covering the ‘perception of Russia’ during the 2018 football World Cup.

Her CV reportedly bragged: ‘June 2018: Reported on International News during the World Cup, specifically the perception of Russia, with BBC correspondent Sarah Rainsford.’

Ms Spring is said to have sent an email apologising for her ‘awful misjudgment’.

She is said to have written: ‘I’ve only bumped into Sarah whilst she’s working and chatted to her at various points, but nothing more. Everything else on my CV is entirely true”

The young journalist added that she was a ‘brilliant reporter’ and in their emails also admitted there was ‘no excuse’.

She said her only explanation was her ‘desperation to report out in Moscow’ and thinking it would ‘wouldn’t be a big deal’, which she admitted was ‘naĆÆve and stupid’.

In the email exchange published by The New European, Ms Antelava told her: ‘Telling me you are a brilliant reporter who exercises integrity and honesty when you have literally demonstrated the opposite was a terrible idea.’

The Coda Story boss, who is understood to have not proceeded with the job application, is said to have added: ‘I am sure if you use this as a lesson, things will work out.’

Ms Spring, who was promoted to her disinformation and social media correspondent title in August last year, has worked for Panorama and has her own BBC podcast called Marianna In Conspiracyland.

She is part of the BBC Verify team tasked with fact-checking, countering disinformation and ‘explaining complex stories in the pursuit of truth’.

The BBC declined to comment this evening.

So an army of matrons are to be sent into workplaces to weigh employees. This all to avert heart attacks and other related health conditions.

Talk about blowing smoke up our backsides…the BBC’s top story is the Harris ‘interview’…the BBC’s ‘analysis’ is as lame a lapdog as the actual ‘interview’….rather than note that this was a very, very soft ‘interview’ that didn’t challenge Harris at all you’re given the impression that this was a huge triumph for Harris as she battled her way through a difficult and rigorous inquisition.

The heading points to the direction we’re being led along…’highstakes’ gives the idea that this was dramatic and tense…nah…

‘Harris defends White House record in high-stakes first interview’

The intitial puff setting up the tone…everything is great…

‘Ms Harris argued that the Biden administration was able to reduce illegal border crossings in recent months and “recover the economy” after the pandemic.

She called the White House’s policies a “success”, specifically pointing to a decline in prescription drug costs and the unemployment rate: “That’s good work. There’s more to do.”‘

Then she was ‘forced’ to defend…no…gently questioned…

‘The vice-president was forced to defend the White House’s economic track record, as inflation and high cost-of-living prices continue to sting American pocketbooks. ‘

    And….

‘But the most tense exchanges between Ms Harris and CNN interviewer Dana Bash centred on the assertion that the Democratic nominee’s policy positions had undergone “changes” during her time as vice-president and as a presidential candidate.’

‘Tense’? Again no…every other commentator say this was all pretty tame. The BBC uses the word ‘tense’ to mislead us into thinking Harris was really pressed quite hard…not.

I could go on and on…and the BBC does in a long, gentle promo for Harris…oh and yeah…Walz too, who is allowed to get away with a huge lie…..he’s just a bit passionate…remember Kerry?….

‘Mr Walz, who served for decades in the US National Guard, was asked to clarify a comment he in made in which he said he “carried” an assault rifle in “war”.

The campaign has clarified that Mr Walz was never in a war zone. ‘

JD Vance would have been slaughtered if he had told such porkies…in the US having served and been a ‘Vet’ is hugely respected and to falsely claim you served in a war zone is very toxic.

Must be great to have one of the world’s biggest and, lol, most trusted, broadcasters on your side.

    Snoutcasts edition

What is it Keir Stramer has against our public houses?

Pub’s fury at Starmer’s outdoor clampdown… Stub out this cigs ban plan (freebie Metro); Stramer risks clash with pub firms over plan for outdoor smoking ban (Guardian) – even the in-the-tank for Labour tabloid Daily Mirror is sitting on the fence (with a glass of lemonaid and a packet of crips?) over this latest example of snobbish nanny statism: IS Keir Starmer right to ban smoking in pub beer gardens? Inside the great debate

So what has he got against pubs?

Well, there was this rather prescient ruling from the former Top Gear presenter with his name over the door (as they used to say on Eastenders: Jeremy Clarkson reveals Keir Starmer is ā€˜bannedā€™ from his new Cotswolds pub (Independent, 6 days ago)

And of course let’s not forget: Starmer thrown out of Bath pub in lockdown row… after he was confronted by the landlord over lockdown restrictions… Mr Humphris, who initially challenged Sir Keir in the street, said he had been a Labour voter all his life but the party had “failed him” (BBC, April 2021); ‘Get out of my pub’ Keir Starmer barred from bar after altercation with angry landlord… The Labour leader walked into trouble when he chose to end a conversation with an angry voter by walking into a pub which the man happened to be the landlord of. (Daily Record, April 2021)

    Revenge of the Stiff

Has Sir Keir sounded death knell of our pubs? (frets the Daily Express) – well, the tetchy when challenged, personality by-pass, stuffed shirt is certainly no Two-Beer-Sir-Keir

Outdoor smoking ban could help save the NHS, says PM (‘i’) – and when a PM refers to saving the NHS – be worried. Be very worried.

One can but applaud the Express punning here: Fuming… Nigel Farage yesterday

It’s unarguable how our Nige has what they term the common touch – whereas Sir Keir, oh dear.

Albeit despite the fact smoking tobacco in and of itself may sound a daft notion. Veteran, sadly lamented, buttoned-down American comic monologuer Bob Newhart was onto something way back in the 1960s with his imagined telephone call to Sir Walter Raleigh:

.. tobacco, it was discovered by Sir Walter Raleigh… and he sent it over to England from the colonies. It seems to me, the uses of tobacco aren’t obvious – right off the bat… and I imagine a phone conversation between Sir Walter Raleigh and the head of the West Indies Company in England. Hey, Harry… you wanna pick up the extension?…
    Yeh! it’s nutty Walter again!
Hi, Walter baby, how are you, guy? How’s everything going?…
What you got for us this time, Walt, you got another winner for us?
    Tob-acco… er, what’s tob-acco, Walt?…
    It’s a kind of leaf, huh?…
And you bought eighty tonnes of it!…
Let me get this straight, Walt, you’ve bought eighty tonnes of leaves?
    Are you saying ‘snuff’, Walt?…
You take a pinch of tobacco, ha! ha! ha!…
And you shove it up your nose. ha! ha! ha!…
And it makes you sneeze? ha! ha! ha!…
It has other uses though, huh?…
    You can chew it!…
Or put it in a pipe!…
Or you can shred it up…
And put it in a piece of paper. ha! ha! ha!…
And roll it up. ha ha ha…
You set fire to it! ha! ha! ha!…
Then what do you do, Walt?…
Ha! ha! ha! You inhale the smoke, huh! ha! ha! ha!…
You know, Walt… it seems you can stand in front of your own fireplace and have the same thing going for you!
You see, Walt… we’ve been a little worried about you
Y’know, ever since you put your cape down over that mud

    Don’t laugh just yet…

What laughing gas ban? Moment police ‘ignore women inhaling balloons’ at Notting Hill Carnival (Daily Mail); Six tonnes of laughing gas canisters collected during Notting Hill Carnival clean up (The Standard)

German chancellor, Olaf Scholtz, spoke of lamentable decline in interaction with Britain’s young people across the EU (Guardian) – this is of course Keir Starmer’s ‘Reset’ of UK-EU relations aimed at bringing our government regulations and policies more in-line with, for instance, Germany.

Germany won’t pay migrants benefits if they come via EU… Olaf Scholtz has announced… if they flout EU rules that demand they claim asylum in the first EU member state they reach… The policy was announced after a Syrian asylum seeker killed three people with a kitchen knife at a street festival in Solingen last week… had been on a deportation list for more than a year (Telegraph); Berlin acts on refugee aid… will cut benefits to refugees who are set to be deported, part of a set of tough measures drafted in response to last week’s attack in Solingen (FT) – So, tell us, Sir Keir, how’d you like them onions? Any plans to bring us more into line with those German policies?

If only we could all just get along. I’m thinking about this statement as title to a new regular feature hereabouts. Prompted by the globalist, cultural relativist Financial Times and their typically optimistic plea: Can a reformist president alter Iran’s course? Big Read – dreams of the rainbow flag one day flying over Tehran

It’s just the sort of thinking that assumed that by fully integrating communist China into the world economy Beijing might suddenly embrace liberal democracy. How’s that workin’ out fo’ yer?

HK journalists found guilty in landmark sedition case – I’m not quite sure why our BBC feels the necessity to abbreviate Hong Kong to HK – but you get the point – although our BBC fails to catch the irony of self-reflection: …two editors at the now-defunct Stand News media outlet, could now face a maximum jail term of two years… Rights groups have condemned the verdict, with Reporters without Borders calling on Hong Kong to “stop its nefarious campaign against press freedom” …district court judge Kwok Wai-kin said that Stand News had become a “danger to national security. It even became a tool to smear and vilify the Central Authorities [in Beijing] and the Hong Kong Government”… The United States has repeatedly condemned the prosecutions of journalists in Hong Kong, saying that the case against the both editors “creates a chilling effect on others in the press and media” (BBC)

Game changer Sweden hails Kyiv’s advance… incursion into the Kursk region of Russia… changing the “narrative” – gushes the FT, whistfully.

Unfortunately, their feature photo rather puts the lie to the gung ho sentiment: A serviceman visits an area commemorating fallen soldiers at Independence Square in Kyiv – basically it is a field of thousands of little blue and yellow flags – it would be like the FT in, say, 1917 – brashly yelling “Forward to Berlin!” accompanied by a picture of a lone downcast Tommy in a field of poppies.

Sadly, our proxy war ally Ukraine is now making their stategic descisions not for sound military reasons but merely in efforts to win the current news cycle: Ukraine hopes its incursion into Russia changes outcome of war (BBC) – whereas: Pokrovsk: Ukraine’s vital eastern town in Russian sights… logistics hub used by Ukrainian forces in the eastern region of Donbas… the Russian offensive on Pokrovsk, and Toretsk further to the north east, has intensified (BBC)

A cursory knowledge of history warns an attack on Kursk won’t end well. Invasion of Russia? Who does coked up little Zelensky think he is… Napoleon? Or the Austrian chap?

Shock of the Russians as war arrived at their door – propagandises Catherine Philp in the regime complient Times

We’re well overdue a calm down dear, or two…

Kaye on Strictly… It’s a tough show, I can’t be judged in that way again (Mirror) – calm down, luv. It’s dancing. You’re not being posted off to the Russian front.

Why our teenage daughters are so sad (Times) – What with all this feminism we have these days? How can that be?

Fame, celebrity – are they never happy?

and, 90 year old semi concious humans who would normally have died 20 years ago kept alive for the last 20 years on a cocktail of drugs that would not fit in an extra large Sainsburys bag

gutbucket single muvvas shouting on their phones who loudley profess their love for their screaming kids so much they dont have a father, with twisted ankles

A and E at Lister is a wonderful world
