Sir Keir Starmer has said he is “not that surprised” that some people who did not vote Labour in the last election want a “re-run” of the poll.
A petition on Parliament’s website accusing Labour of breaking promises and calling for a new general election has gathered more than two million signatures – the third highest since 2010.

I’m still waiting for my Brexit vote to come to full fruition and I think that our present government will do all it can to ensure that it doesn’t and that is why, even though I know another election can’t and won’t happen I signed the petition. It is a way of showing my displeasure at the way the Brexit vote has been obstructed by the remoaners from day one.
I fully accept that Labour won the election and that no Prime Minister of any stripe would call an election on the strength of a petition especially as he would likely be the loser.
