Weekend 17th May 2025

The magic of the FA cup cliche . With Gary Linaker due to present the BBC coverage – will he make some snide comment about his anti semitism ? Or read a statement from the autocue ? Or be judged to be not fit to be on the State Broadcaster at all ?

    Yaaaaaaaaaah!

Oh heck I’ve had a great day! I’ve tried to understand and eventually ignored everything Beeboid, read everything from serious watchers here, decided I have nothing to add, watched some Talk TV for decent stuff, (avec tinctures and lunch), planted two rows of kohl rabi, and five courgettes, placed another 12 tomato plants in their final positions, ready for a gallon of passata come the Autumn, so what more can a man ask for?

Life is so rich away from the tiresome despond of the tax-paid BBC!

Remarkable that when the ex-head of the FBI, with a long time hatred of Trump, posts a photo of a well known ‘code’ that suggests assassinating Trump the BBC tucks it away on the US page…..well probably because it’s such an everyday thought for those at the BBC that it is in fact unremarkable….lol.

‘Former FBI director James Comey is being investigated by the Secret Service after he shared then deleted a social media post, which Republicans alleged was an incitement to violence against US President Donald Trump.

Comey posted on Instagram a photo of seashells that spelled the numbers “8647”, which he captioned: “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.”

The number 86 is a slang term whose definitions include “to reject” or “to get rid of”, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, which also notes that it has more recently been used as a term meaning “to kill”. And Trump is the 47th US president.’

Killer jailed for life for stabbing mum at Carnival
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cre98lpd7n3o

The story is about a man who was jailed for life for stabbing a woman to death.

But the BBC put a picture of the victim on the front page, not the man.

    Here’s the victim:
    4349e3d0-324a-11f0-8947-7d6241f9fce9.jpg.webp

And here’s the savage who did it. Shakeil Thibou.
    04938c80-324b-11f0-96c3-cf669419a2b0.jpg.webp

Surely you put the picture of the victim up when you report the murder and the picture of the murderer up when sentence is passed ?.

Not at the BBC you don’t of course. Because they are racist and try to prevent us things they don’t want us to know.

No vigils for her. No series of articles telling us how savage these black gangs are and demands for them to be eradicated from our streets. Just a murder, a funeral and a sentencing is all this one gets at the BBC.

These kind of stories remind me of what disgusting hypocrites the Left are. Just imagine their fake outrage if she was stabbed by someone white.

2016 …The Prime Minister has asked David Lammy MP to investigate evidence of possible bias against black defendants and other ethnic minorities.
        https://www.gov.uk/government/news/review-of-racial-bias-and-bame-representation-in-criminal-justice-system-announced

        Prime Minister David Cameron said:

If you’re black, you’re more likely to be in a prison cell than studying at a top university. And if you’re black, it seems you’re more likely to be sentenced to custody for a crime than if you’re white. We should investigate why this is and how we can end this possible discrimination.

That’s why I have asked David Lammy MP to lead a review of the over-representation of defendants from black and ethnic minority backgrounds in the criminal justice system. And this will include examining possible sentencing and prosecutorial disparity.

At present, BAME individuals currently make up over a quarter of prisoners – compared to 14% of the wider population of England and Wales.

Good point – the defence can prove that coloured folk are more violent by the number of convictions . It’s part of their ‘culture ‘ so there should be a further discount – 10%

So if he got 29 – he only does a third – 10 years – minus the 2 on remand – 8 – minus sentencing guidelines -10% – so out in 7 – 1 year on cat A then out for ‘day release ‘…. The judge minimum 29 is not relevant to the need to empty prisons …

‘My children go to sleep hungry,’ Gazans tell the BBC
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly3nyqx7xwo

Another complete crock of shit from the BBC.

Gaza received enough aid to last until September. It’s official. It would prove beyond that what Israel says is true. But to their absolute shame the BBC do not report it.

‘The Israeli government insists there is “no shortage” of food in Gaza and that the “real crisis is Hamas looting and selling aid”.’

Any famine is the direct result of deliberate Hamas actions. But the extreme-Left BBC are strongly inferring it’s Israels fault then saturating the story with children and empathy with stories from the Muslim Jew-hater Gazans themselves.

The deliberate misrepresentation by the BBC here is absolutely outrageous. Who is supposed to stop them doing this sort of thing when they are allowed to be their own judge and jury ?.

Ukraine and Russia far apart in direct talks, but prisoner swap agreed
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c9wg599e79xo

What a surprise. No progress whatsoever and everything continues as normal on the battlefield.

And as expected, all the blame is placed on Russia – via another quotation from a Ukranian official so the BBC can write anything at all:
‘The talks lasted less than two hours and sharp divisions soon emerged. The Kremlin made “new and unacceptable demands”, according to a Ukrainian official. That included insisting Kyiv withdraw its troops from large parts of its own territory’

Which territory ?. As he didn’t want to say, I’ll presume he means the areas where they are fighting now. It’s always been clear that Russia want a buffer zone in Eastern Ukraine and I expect they mean that. But we aren’t told.

And I wonder what demands Ukraine made (as directed by the EU of course). Their official line is still that Russia pull out of ALL Ukraine, including the Crimea. Something everybody knows will never happen.

And just to get the backs of the Russians up before they started, half the Ukrainians attended the talks in combat fatigues. Instant disrespect. All the Russians wore suits. I wonder how many on that team ever wore those clothes for real. I know the comedian Zelensky never has.

So exactly as I predicted yesterday, there are no talks, no deal and the war continues. Ukraine would not have done such a thing without instruction from the ‘Coalition of the willing’ (ie the states who run the EU) who will now be funding this war.

This whole pantomime by Ukraine is just ridiculous. This was a real chance to end the war with the boundaries it is going to end with anyway but with a few hundred thousand of their soldiers still alive.

I will be surprised if Russia agree to anything after this. From what I have read elsewhere, Ukraine will rush to rearm and reinforce their positions if there is any ceasefire and the real danger of the war starting again after any peace deal is not Russia, it’s Ukraine rearming then trying to take the land back again. With the troops of the ‘coalition of the willing’ right in the middle of it gambling that Russia will back down. That’s when WW3 starts.

Our print press do love a red carpet celeb photo shot for their frontpage colour features. However, the regime mouthpiece Times goes all boring and serious on us this morning with a ‘blue’ carpet celeb feature pic: …European leaders in Tirana for talks…

I’m not sure another of those Euro leaders family group photos would intice me to fork out the cover price: £4 £2.30 to subscribers (based on a 7 Day Print and Digital subscription) – but hey-ho, each to their own.

Front row, left to right (as we look at them) we have failed German ex-defence minister Ursula von der Leyen, failed British PM Keir Starmer, failed Ukraine war leader Volodymyr Zelensky, failed French president Emmanuel Macron and successful and popular Albanian PM Edi Rama.

incumbent prime minister of Albania since 2013 and chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania since 2005. He was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports from 1998 to 2000. First elected mayor of Tirana in 2000, he was reelected in 2003 and 2007… Rama is the only Albanian prime minister in history to have won four terms in a row. His party has won all seven elections since 2013 – usual credit due to Wiki.

And as any enterprising football scout might ask when looking at a promising schoolboy team photo: “Who’s the big lad on the right?”

Higher power Edi Rama, the 6ft 7in Albanian prime minister, hosted… – explains the Times.

Wot no, 2 meters tall in Euro speak? Tut, tut Times editorial, old imperial measurements – that’s a bit Brexity of you [TM HM Kent Constabulary]

Times main headline: Starmer hails Brexit reset

“hails” – there’s another of those peculiar journo-speak terms that no living human being in their right mind ever reached for in their common conversation.

Hail a taxi cab. A ship hailing another vessel, yes. Mind you, French fishermen might soon be hailing the Brexit reset deal with a “”Sacré bleu! Quoi! Il a fait ça!”

Starmer ambushed over fishing rights… France is leading an EU attempt to squeeze eleventh hour concessions out of Sir Keir Starmer ahead of a Brext summit on Monday (Telegraph)

But back to that Euro premiers line-up photo – snapped just before the umbrellas went up since you can see precipitation in the shot – was that really rain or – since the weather in Albania can be a on the chilly side at this time of year – were the Euro big nobs caught out photographed in the snow (for a second time this week)?

Just as: Attacker who stabbed author Salman Rushdie sentenced to 25 years in prison… Lawyers for New Jersey man Hadi Matar said they planned to appeal the sentence, which was the maximum possible. (Al Jazeera)

If I were off to Albania, I’d take care to pack a new jersey. And then when I went through immigration at the airport you could call me a ‘new jersey man’.

    But I digress.

Just as: Rushdie attacker sentenced to 25 years in prison… stabbed and partially blinded novelist (BBC)

So our top CV fiction writer eagerly knocks up some fluffy blurb for the Starmer Brexit reset: UK on path to deeper EU relationship, says Reeves (Guardian) – seven paragraphs of frontpage headline story – with not a word of substantive content… concluding with: Her remarks go further than Keir Starmer’s in the Guardian last week. The prime minister said he would not “start speculating” beyond a deal that had been yet to be agreed

Read beyond the awkward Starmer robot speak construction ‘had been yet to be agreed’ and there’s the hint of a deal (in the words of vintage tv magician Paul Daniels) “You’ll like this… not a lot, but you’ll like it”

Speaking of Euro nonsense news: What time is the Eurovision 2025 final and who is in it? – hints our BBC.

Second of two Eurovision 2025 semi-finals takes place in Switzerland (BBC)

But don’t fret Team GB fans: The UK’s Remember Monday took the stage, but the trio didn’t have to worry about viewers’ votes, as the country gets free passage to the final as part of the Big Five nations (BBC) – in other words we pay for this shit show.

How to win Eurovision, according to the experts (BBC)

Containing much talk of: high-energy, 120+ BPM songs with kick drums and synth-heavy production… a cliché that Eurovision songs are only about love and peace… six broad lyrical themes: “love, unity, self-assertion, partying, history and songs about making music” – but no mention of the politics of Eurovision voting.

One distinctly recalls my old dad watching the show back in the 1970s and pointing out “Cyprus votes for Greece, Greece votes for Cyprus”

BBC in-house favourite the Guardian alone of all our big name print titles thinks to feature the show on the front cover: Your ultimate guide to Eurovision 2025

I gave up watching years ago – my old dad’s words ringing in my ears – anyway, these days it’s just not gay enough for me (sarc).

Hello and welcome to another edition of Ask Google – a fun family quiz where Google, a search engine and large technology company, aged 26, competes with our BBC, a national broadcaster providing of a wide range of radio and tv services featuring balanced unbiased news and current affairs, aged 103, in answering some tricky almost forgotten questions about news stories from the archives.

What happened to Ken Livingstone’s once famous London bendy buses?

Quora on behalf of team Google: “The decision to remove them was driven by a combination of factors, including: Safety Concerns: There were issues related to the safety of these buses, especially regarding their long length and the difficulty in navigating narrow streets and tight corners.”

BBC: “Ken declares no more bendy buses… The mayor of London has revealed that he will not be ordering any further fleets of bendy buses. Ken Livingstone said they were only introduced for a small number of routes and there were no plans to put more on the roads.
It follows a pledge from his Tory rival Boris Johnson who said he would scrap them in favour of Routemasters if he were elected as mayor. But Livingstone insisted bendy buses were popular with commuters. “They’re very good buses,” he said. “And although papers like the Daily Telegraph which ran a campaign against them may think they are deeply unpopular buses, when we ask bus users which buses they are satisfied with the bendy buses get slightly higher scores.” We’ve got a few bus routes in London where there are just massive numbers of people using them and it overwhelms the older traditional double decker.” Critics argue the buses are not suited to London’s roads and have led to increased revenue losses for Transport for London (TfL) because they have no conductors. Introduced in 2001, they were temporarily taken out of service in 2005 when three buses caught fire.” (BBC, March 2008)

They should and if an enquiry can put a plan to keep the next 100,000 young girls safe, surely it is worthwhile. Pope Leo XIV condemns evil left-wing BBC ideology, by supporting the sanctity of life.

The Pope made it clear that his priorities include defending the unborn and upholding the Church’s definition of marriage. Pope Leo described the family as the bedrock of a healthy society and reiterated the Church’s stance that marriage is a union exclusively “between a man and a woman”, stressing that strong nations are built on strong families. He also addressed the dignity of life, from conception to death, arguing that all people “from the unborn to the elderly” deserve protection from abortion and government assisted death, condemning the abortion and assisted death cult, as morally wrong.

Death cult Marxists, Communists and Socialists in the Labour party and Satanists, Islamists and Atheists at the BBC are angry about the Pope supporting people who pray for dead babies outside of abortion clinics, as well as people who oppose government support for big pharma using medical procedures to assist the death of the public, using an “assisted death act” to make it legal for physicians to assist patients to end their lives, through the prescription of medication, like an ‘end of life’ mRNA vaccine or an overdose of midazolam and morphine.

Fed, has not the D-G just announced the big BBC switch off. They are going on-line in 2030 or something. As I get old I think about how the best things occurred in my early years. Sunday afternoons, Armand & Michaela Dennis, Tales of the Riverbank (voiced over by Johnny Morris) and a TV Licence that cost my parents only a fiver. OK, we watched in B&W on a small screen but that was the limitation of my grandmother’s TV after she came to live with us. Saturday nights were even better: Dixon of Dock Green 🙂 followed by Dr Kildare.

I was told I couldn’t stay up to watch Tommy Steele in ‘Golden Year’, which started at 8.00pm! Bed times were sacrosanct back then…

‘Six-Five Special’ was aways OK though. and Pete Murray and Jo Douglas were great presenters! They did a ‘Twelve-five Special’ one New Years Eve, and it was awful, if I remember correctly!

However, I’m so pleased to see that Pete Murray is still with us – he was eventually too normal, (i.e.Conservative) for the soon-to-become-far-left BBC oiks! I remember him castigating union leaders on a live programme once, and cheered mightily through the roof window of my Vauxhall Cavalier 2 litre, while escaping from a rather nasty area south of Brixton, to get home to normality…

I never trust the BBC on anything. Today I bought Proms tickets. I will just say that my position in the queue did something very odd with the time I had to wait, but suffice to say, I didn’t appear to have many ahead of me. I wanted tickets for a Sunday morning concert. Although I was able to get my party seats, they were not all on the same row. My only explanation is that virtually everyone ahead of me in the queue also wanted tickets for the same Sunday morning concert OR the BBC was giving away most of the Hall’s seats to their mates.

Not the bbc – but londonistan . I’ve mentioned here before that the most dangerous time to be a londonistaner is 4pm week days when the ferals come out of school .

On Thursday afternoon – close to where I live – a there was an after school violent disorder leading to a 14 year old seriously stabbed . The road was closed for 2 days – suggesting the kid is either dead or going to be dead . It’s not in the national press – it’s only another dead kid .

The threshold for reporting serious assaults seems to be going up rapidly – yesterday 5 men arrested for violent disorder – all stabbed – and I think we can prejudicially guess the heritage …

The state tells us that violent crime is ‘down ‘ and we are expected to believe this lie . I now see my presence in londonistan as visits – I realise as I get older I become more of a potential target – however street wise I think I am -whilst in real life I live in a far safer country where I am more likely to hear English than in feral londonistan .

The Marxists wanted londonistan to be a third world tip – easier to fix votes and keep the imports on state dependency by easily obtained ( fraud ) benefits claims …

I find it hard to believe I grew up in a safe – monoculture – London – which was tough – but a lot safer . That’s long gone .

They are completely out of touch with the real world now.

Hamas proposes releasing some hostages in fresh talks after new Israel offensive
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd7geg3lvz1o

In an absolutely standard BBC article full of bias and lies, they spend a couple of lines talking about the headline then drop it completely and revert to the same full-on empathy from their Hamas reporters in Gaza to keep up the suggestion of just how bad Israel are.

Perhaps a few pictures of the hostages still being held – or the accounts of some of those released would have been more appropriate to remind us all what hell those poor people are enduring at the hands of terrorists.

Anyway, the BBC weasel words which caught my eye for this one are another classic BBC lie by inference:

‘US President Donald Trump said on Friday that “a lot of people were starving” in Gaza. The Israeli government has repeatedly rejected claims there is a food shortage in Gaza.’

Amazing how they only give Trump any publicity when it suits their own agenda. But look at those words : they just don’t quite belong together.

And the reason is that they are entirely different things we are supposed to lump together. Trump is right that people have no food. But Israel are correct as well. There is plenty of food – but Hamas have it and are selling it to those who can afford it.

The BBC clearly know it’s true because of how this paragraph is presented. They know Hamas are starving the people for their own profit. And they are fine with that. They do not care : they only want to present things against Israel.

This is from the Fergal Keane:
‘She said her family had only been having one meal a day, due to the scarcity and spiralling cost, and accused Israel of “using food as a weapon” – an allegation UN officials have also made in recent weeks.’

Why are the cost ‘spiralling’ Fergal ?. It’s donated aid. It’s free. Who is charging them ?. This vile BBC piece of excrement does not go near that one because he knows the truth. As do the equally vile UN.

This is another excellent example of why the ethics of the BBC and the Left disgust me so much. They don’t care one bit about those people. They only care about promoting their own political agenda. They have no conscience at all.

I remember a few years ago when it was on live and they had cameras in the crowd watching people dance.

It switched to two men dancing and as soon as they realised they were ‘on’ (I expect it had a red light on the camera), one of them reached off-shot, grabbed a young, clueless looking black girl and pulled her quickly and quite violently across so she was in front of the camera.

So quite clearly those 2 were planted in the audience to ‘control the shot’ and that poor girl looked quite shocked.

I remember it because it was like a shaft of light illuminating the true core-ethics of the Left. They didn’t give a shit about that black girl. It was for pure EU virtue signalling and a show of fake ‘diversity’.

It sums up the Left perfectly and kind of put a cherry on top of the cake. Since then I don’t bother giving the Left the benefit of the doubt any more. I consider them to be complete hypocrites with no ethics or conscience about what they do.

Eurovision: ‘What the Hell Just Happened’ to the UK entry? Remember Monday went into the contest with high hopes, but it was not to be (BBC)

The government is set to host EU leaders in London on Monday as part of its efforts to “reset” relations post-Brexit. (Sky News)

Meanwhile, for actual music enthusiasts: New Order’s Blue Monday, anyone?

Irony is of course a much over-used term. Call it instead a case of serendipity for those sadly jaded seen-it-all-before satirists among us.

Oh no, not again. For the third year in a row, the UK has crashed out at Eurovision, taking 19th place out of a possible 26. It feels particularly cruel this time because our contestants, Remember Monday, got a lot of things right with their song, What the Hell Just Happened. (BBC)

Announcement of the Eurovision voting (somewhat stilted, European-accented, English language female voice): “The United Kingdom…”

Graham Norton (resignedly): “Oh come on”

(In that overly-long painful pregnant pause style, familiar to TV talent show winning annoucements: “From the public… You get… Zero Points”

Graham Norton: “Oh no. Second year in a row for the United Kingdom with zero points from the public… But a great reaction here in the hall… lots of love, lots of love”

Think about this: Pre-Brexit, what did the Europeans really like about us being in the EU? Why so upset when we left?

I can think of five reasons: Our huge cash contributions to the Brussel budget; Freedom of movement for Club Med and then those new Eastern European nations so as to export their youth unemployment to Britain; Permission to steel fish from our waters; Imposition of a bewildering panoply of EU rules and regulations on us so as to stifle our initiative and entrepreneurship; The ego trip of seeing their unaccountable achingly liberal judges lord it over our local laws.

All confirmed by: Brexit? What Brexit? (Daily Mail)

To wit: Britain could be forced to hand over hundreds of millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money to Brussels every year as part of a new EU deal being negotiated at a ‘Surrender Summit’ in London tomorrow [Tick One]

It is expected to include a youth mobility scheme – dubbed free movement ‘by the back door’ [Tick Two]

…and agreement to allow EU trawlers to fish in British waters [Tick Three]

The UK would also be forced to swallow many Brussels rules… [Tick Four]

…and accept a role for the European Court of Justice… [Tick Five]

    Royaume-Uni… cinq points!

Oh, I was almost forgetting another reason the Europeans wanted Britain in the EU – free use of our defence and security assets – you’ll remember how Theresa May deliberately thew away our best trump card at the very start of the original Brexit negotiations: PM: Britain is unconditionally committed to the defence and security of Europe. Prime Minister Theresa May reiterates Britain’s continued commitment to maintaining European security. (Gov.UK, 2017)

    Back to today’s Daily Mail

…as the two sides deepen trade and security links [Tick Six]

Mark Savage, BBC, Music Correspondent, in that classic BBC style of asking a question and then presuming to answer it for us himself, asks: So what went wrong?

And just like that previous BBC article that presumed to tell us: How to win Eurovision, according to the experts (Samuel Spencer, BBC News, 11 May 2025) – which referenced everything but the politics (stupid?) – so this morning after the night before our Mark Savage consols our trio of hung-over-looking slightly superannuated and bedraggled eternal bridesmaids recovering from their wine-soaked bachelorette party – “Broke a heel, lost my keys, scraped my knee / When I fell from the chandelier.” – with a resounding you were fabulous!: After toe-curling performances from Olly Alexander in 2024 and Mae Muller in 2023, their vocals were as strong as a lion’s roar. So strong, in fact, that they caught the attention of former Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst…

The chief culprit, if I’m honest, was the song.

Our BBC there, conforming to that age old adage: Avoiding controversial subjects like politics and religion is often recommended when your goal is not to offend someone or risk conflict.

The last word goes to our Graham:

“Here in the hall… lots of love, lots of love”

    • JohnC says:

The first line of our Eurovision song was:

      ‘Someone’s lost a shoe’

And it just got worse from there.

I imagine all the ‘love’ in the hall would be down to the cheerleaders and prompters egging on the audience. They really don’t want the UK to leave the song contest as well as the EU : we are a major donor of British taxpayers cash. Though the BBC refuse to say how much which means it is an embarrassing amount.

Countries can be vaporised and come back …. hold tight.

“So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern…Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”

But the influx was much larger than expected and contributed to net migration rising above 200,000 a year.”

I’ve just seen on GBN a commentator putting numbers on this youth free migration thing.
The last time we had this arrangement with the eu (he says) 10,000 of ours went to the eu and 140,000 of the eu came to the UK.
      Sounds about right.

Is the EU a trading block or a political entity – which is it?

I think we all know the answer to that. If you’re talking about words then the Common Market was the trading block we joined which then morphed via various treaties into the EU which is now a political union. The common Euro currency basically means the countries using it have ceased to exist as nation states and their Governments are little more than local Councils. I think our politicians knew exactly where this was going right from the beginning and lied to us.

Smarmer has virtually no real political or cultural beliefs, the only one that he really has is that Britain should be in the EU. Some of the stuff he’s coming out with now is preposterous and dangerous. The idea that some sort of defence pact with the EU would be conditional on giving up more fishing rights to France or the EU is utterly ridiculous. I think the current immigration crisis has been engineered to entrap us into the EU.

I predict Smarmer will have us back in the EU is certain I believe whether actually in name or not

“3. Does Joining the EU Mean Losing National Sovereignty?
Yes and no. EU membership involves sharing (not giving up) certain aspects of sovereignty for mutual benefit:

You do give up some national control:
EU laws take precedence over national laws in many areas (e.g., trade, competition, environment).

Members must comply with EU regulations and court rulings.

Policies like agriculture, fisheries, and regional development are coordinated at the EU level.

    But you retain core sovereignty:
Member states remain independent countries with their own constitutions, armies, and foreign policies.

Countries have veto powers in key areas (e.g., taxation, foreign policy).

You elect your own government, and that government helps shape EU policies through representation in EU institutions.”

It misses the point where the political class are now working to please the EU and not the people they represent.

“The classes, taught by Muslims and intended for Muslim students, were first launched in the early 2000s and now are offered as electives in nine of Germany’s 16 states, by more than 800 public primary and secondary schools, according to the research network Mediendienst Integration. They include lessons on the Quran, the history of Islam, comparative religion and ethics. Often, discussions shift to the students’ identity struggles or feelings of alienation.”
