    Lest we forget:
COVID – The BBC abandoned impartiality years ago.
A reckoning for the Covid lockdowns is overdue …. (By Tony Young writing in DT last Nov 2025)

My trust in the BBC collapsed… it was during the Covid pandemic when the Corporation decided its job was producing pro-lockdown propaganda:

BBC news footage gave the impression that anyone who breached the social distancing rules was at serious risk of dying. (This was not the reality: in 2021 the global infection fatality rate was reckoned by John Ioannidis, Professor of Medicine at Stanford, to be 0.27 per cent).
    ..
But the Beeb went further than this, combining with other news organisations to discredit anyone casting doubt on the wisdom of the lockdown policy. It leveraged its status as the founder of the Trusted News Initiative (TNI), a partnership with Reuters, the Associated Press, Agence France-Press, the Financial Times, the New York Times and the Washington Post to suppress sceptical voices on social media – the subject of an anti-trust law suit in the US brought by various independent news publishers. Indeed, the founder of the TNI, a senior BBC executive called Jessica Cecil, was a member of the Counter Disinformation Policy Forum, a shadowy group of “experts” convened by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to monitor criticism of the government’s pandemic response.

The Corporation’s role as the gatekeeper of (so called) “trusted journalism” – was extended when Deborah Turness, the now ex-BBC News CEO, set up BBC -VERIFY- , a team of 60 “fact-checkers” tasked with exposing the mis- and disinformation supposedly being pumped out by rival news organisations. I look forward to the investigation by Marianna Spring, VERIFY”S star journalist, into the shortcomings of the BBC’s own reporting, as highlighted by the Telegraph…. BBC VERIFY is censorship by another name…

BBC Misinformation VERIFY service is politically biased fact…
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/11/26/bbc-verify-fact-checking-unit-accused-of-political-bias/

If our public service broadcaster is going to restore its reputation, it will need to conduct a thorough inquiry into the failure of its news division to live up to its commitment to impartiality, as enshrined (ignored) in the BBC Charter. The first item on the agenda should be its coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I was thinking ( tricky ) the PMQ on Wednesday is likely to be the easiest for TTK – all the Epstein stuff can be batted off to ‘police inquiries ‘…. Although he might get something about his association with the rat who prosecuted soldiers … where the Hansard record has been corrected to admit ‘yes he did work on prosecuting soldiers ‘…
In more decent times i d think that was a resigning issue – but in the scheme of things it’s a nothing for an amoral – evil PM …

As just being discussed on the wireless, by Sir John Curtice, even the barmiest of labourists are eventually realising that there is absolutely noone capable of replacing TTK, their mental anguish must be taking up all their time and also by dreading the May elections, now that the ‘U’turn by the same ‘pm’ means they’ll get drubbed and won’t recover.

Of course, the far-left bBC will do all it can to bolster their instructors in Mohammed Street, but as most British Citizens know already, they’d support Mickey Mouse if he had a red rosette stuck on his left lughole!

    • non-licence payer says:

Fedup I think that the bBC has worked out that the licence fee is dead for two reasons. Firstly it is a legacy medium and secondly because there is a growing demographic who have worked out that it is fundamentally marxist and will not pay. In working out that their number is up they appear to be dropping their ‘pretence of impartiality’ guard. I look at the editorial decisions taken recently, of which IHAT and Shiner are one, and they are sailing too close to the wind to protect Starmer. My view is that on this occasion they have gone too far and they will be exposed.

In case you missed it, Mandlesons arrest has been and gone on the BBC UK page with the only remaining story on the main fron tpage of:

‘Mandelson’s lawyers say he was arrested over ‘baseless’ claim he was a flight risk.’
Which is basically another BBC article inferring his innocence. This is only for ‘flight risk’ but it’s an old trick of theirs : the lie by inference.

Here’s the DT headline for the same story:
‘Mandelson arrested to stop him fleeing Britain’
‘Met Police reportedly tipped off by Lords Speaker that disgraced Labour peer may have been planning to move abroad’

Completely different emphasis by the BBC – and just happens to be in Mandlesons favour.

As I mentioned previously, they are still referring to him as ‘Lord’ every single time they name him – 14 times in this article alone – even though he is no longer a serving Lord. They are under no obligation whatsoever to do that – so once again it is intended to maintain respect for him and thus imply his innocence.

Even their own guidelines for ‘Lords’ who have not been ousted in disgrace are:

‘BBC Editorial Style: According to the BBC News Style Guide, the broadcaster uses formal titles (like Lord, Lady, or Sir) at the first and second mention of a person who holds such an honour.’

And of course the top headline on the UK page is about Andrew yet again. They simply cannot resist twisting the knife into people they hate at every opportunity. One of the defining traits of the Left. They are that special kind of nasty.

State of the Union 2026: Trump to address Congress
    https://www.bbc.com/news/live/ce3g0epn6gdt

I always remember the BBC ‘live’ coverage of the Labour conference when I read these articles now. It was all positive and almost exclusively quotes from Labour themselves saying good things.

So lets go through the ‘sub-articles’ in this live feed:

    First:
‘Is the US men’s hockey team coming to the State of the Union?’
The president said that if he did not also invite the women’s team, “I do believe I probably would be impeached”.
Trump’s comments were criticised by many.’

    Second:
‘What can we expect Trump to say?’
‘And the key question always remains with Trump, whether he will stick to his speech or adlib.’

    Third:
‘Epstein survivors to attend Trump’s speech’
“I was just with some of the Epstein survivors, and Donald Trump, well, he’s gonna have a difficult night, because those women are about to be staring him right in the face,” Simon said.
(Latifah Simon is a Democrat. The BBC don’t tell us.

    Fourth:
‘Watch: What to expect from Trump’s speech tonight’
Will Democrats interrupt? Will Trump stick to his script? What will the vibe be in the room, as Trump comes face-to-face with the Supreme Court justices that just blocked his tariffs agenda.

    Starting article:
‘Trump to deliver landmark address to Congress’
‘While Republicans, who hold the majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, are expected to applaud the administration, Democrats remain highly critical of Trump’s first year back in office.
Last year’s speech to a joint session of Congress – similar in style to a State of the Union – was marred by visible opposition by Democrats and one lawmaker was escorted out of the chamber. Several leading Democrats have already announced they will boycott today’s address.’

It’s simply ridiculous. They put in something negative every time.

Someone should teach the BBC what Democracy means. Sure the Democrats are there as a check and balance to question the government policies, but the people elected Trump’s policies, not theirs. Their disagreements with should not be the news.

For me the UK and USA are now demonstrating what happens when Democracy has failed. It has been distorted and corrupted to the point where it’s founding principles are lost. If we don’t fix it, our society is doomed. While we snipe and fight with each other, we are quietly being displaced.

If we continue down this road, will we become a country ruled by Muslims. Of that I have no doubt. They are united by their religion. Mainly because of the consequences if they leave it.

    • JohnC says:

      … and after the speech:

      First sub-article:
‘Responding to the speech for the Democrats the newly elected governor of Virginia, Abigail Spanberger, said Trump lied, scapegoated and distracted and he offered no real solutions to “our nation’s pressing challenges”.’

      Second:
‘At a time when polls suggest many in the US are dissatisfied with the current state of the nation – and with Trump’s leadership of it – the president offered little hint of a change of course.’
‘It was a speech filled with theatrical flourishes – the kind of made-for-the-cameras moments the man who once hosted a reality television show seems to enjoy.’

      Third:
‘Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has reacted to Trump’s State of the Union speech, calling the past year of his presidency “a complete disaster”.’

      Fourth:
‘I refuse to tolerate this level of hate, says Representative Al Green’
Al is another Democrat. But the BBC don’t tell us.

Then it degenerates into cherry-picked ‘fact-checking’ by the ridiculous ‘BBC Verify’. Trump is wrong of course.

      Fifth:
‘Spanberger’s rebuttal aligns with Democrats’ messaging, but will it energise voters?’

Just more of the same spiteful 6th-former activist level of biased rhetoric from the BBC. They give the Democrats ‘response’ more attention than the speech itself.

Someone should tell the BBC the Democrats and their policies were utterly rejected in the election : they seem to think they won.

For comparison, here’s the BBC for Bidens ‘State of the Union’ address:

State of the Union 2023: Five takeaways from Biden’s speech
      https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64519394

Not a single criticism and not a single comment from the opposition.

I watched the Daily T podcast hosted by Tim Stanley and Camilla Tominey with Matt Goodwin as guest. Goodwin acquitted himself well setting out his stall and delivering his deeply thought out analysis of the problems and remedies for the country’s problems.

Stanley , who was a socialist in his younger days and still retains a few suspect views, seemed to understand what Goodwin was saying.
Tominey , a dyed in the wool Tory, on the other hand looked startled , it was as though the points Goodwin was making on immigration numbers, a white minority by 2063 , Britishness being more than a piece of paper etc , were entirely new to her .
Perhaps it is a mistake to imagine that the political commentariat actually think deeply about political issues or try to understand the forces which are creating those issues. Their analysis is limited to personalities and superficial about issues.
If she did think a bit more deeply she would realise that the Tories are as much to blame for the state of the country as Labour and instead of unthinkingly supporting them she would be vigorously attacking the One Nation Wets who have been the problem.

We know Keir Starmer can’t tell a tv drama series from a documentary: Starmer claims Adolescence is a documentary – again… Does Prime Minister Keir Starmer understand the difference between fact and fiction? the Labour leader referred to the new Netflix series Adolescence as a documentary for the, er, second time. Either Sir Keir is ignorant about what exactly the show is – which, given he has referred to it multiple times before, would be rather baffling – or the PM has missed the point that the series is not actually real. (Steerpike, The Spectator)

One wonders for a moment how the Starmer family copes with our bungling PM’s traditional annual Christmas, presumably laboured performance at charades? “Is he miming a book or a movie? Hey, dad, we can’t tell if that’s supposed to be a theatre play or a song?”

Seems his tenuous grip on the difference between soap opera and real life is catching. Now Keir’s ministers are apparently equally as confused as the Labour leader. I blame Reality TV shows for blurring the boundaries.

Some ancient Greek dude named Plato discussed this very problem in his Allegory of the Cave: prisoners are chained since childhood in an underground cave, facing a wall. Puppeteers behind them hold up puppets in front of a fire, casting shadows the prisoners mistake for reality, representing the illusion of the senses versus true knowledge. For the Gorton by-election the Greens have played the anti-Semite card, parading through the streets of Gortonistan with their pro-Palestine vindictiveness and thus appealing to the majority racist Muslim community, that successive governments have shamelessly allowed to thrive unfettered.

The Labour vote is thus split, as in trying to gather votes from their declining base of white working class it is impossible to appeal to both communities simultaneously – except perhaps by offering £zillions more of taxpayers money.

Fed, the last poll I saw had Reform in third place at 27% of the vote while Labour and Greens both at 28%. I’ve just been on the phone to my sister in Manchester and she could offer me little comfort.

It is of course a Labour stronghold and they have human resources to bring out on voting day.

As an exercise in utter incompetence by a nationalised industry, it is hard to beat.

      Mayor of London

It is an honour to welcome all delegates to London for the 9th World
Islamic Economic Forum in what is an historic first for a city outside
the Islamic world. I am proud that London is a fantastically diverse
city, boasting not just a great cultural and ethnic mix but also a great
mix of ages too. Londoners from all backgrounds contribute a huge
amount to the capital’s culture and economy.
The presence of WIEF in London recognises the UK’s position as a
major centre of Islamic finance. Islamic finance is already playing
a major role in shaping the economic and physical landscape
      of our capital city.

The newly opened Shard, the extraordinary
redevelopment of Battersea Power Station and the Olympic Village
were paid for at least in part by Sharia- compliant finance.,

The media making a big thing of Hoyle (Speaker) reporting to police that Mandelson was about to do a runner.

Just a thought. I may be wrong.

Please consider that Mandelson would not be able to just escape to British Virgin isles or anywhere else. More likely that he had a lot of valuable information, held back for a rainy day, on others who he would be prepared to drop in to mitigate some of his likely sentence.

Powerful people have much to hide from the view of you and I and cannot allow this information to see the light of day as it stands. Plod was told to get everything they could and make sure Mandelson (a bit like Epstein) does not squeal.

Labour have made some comment that files will not be shared with the public until the evidence, legal requirements, etc are complete. This may take months, years. Into the long grass it goes.
