North Korea…The New Disney Land

Greetings from North Korea Greetings from North Korea! Infographics

Saturday Live on the 16th had an interesting little report. (about 0945)…all the way from the delightful People’s Republic of North Korea.

John McCarthy hears about the Arirang or Mass Games in North Korea’s capital Pongyang;  a dazzling display by thousands of marching, dancing, skipping, gymnastics and… flip charts. He talks to visitors to the games photographer Jeremy Hunter, former diplomat James Hoare and tourist Tony Pletts.

Fascinating what an upbeat little tale we have about one of the cruellest regimes in the world from the BBC….

We are witnessing an ‘ amazing stage, an incredible event….there is something here that these people have got, this system has got….the minders are really really wonderful…you only get to see what they want you to see but you really do get a sense of what life is like for Koreans…picnics and dances at the weekend….an element of Disney involved….it makes you appreciate just how different life could be from the life you lead at home….absolutely a thumbs up to go see one of the great spectacles of the world’

Curious how different is the BBC’s approach to that they take when reporting from Israel….possibly the only true democracy in the Middle East, a highly successful, modern progressive country which has succeeded despite being under constant attack for over 60 years.

Israel is a savage and oppressive regime whilst North Korea is somewhat like Disneyland?

Whodathunk?

From Wikipedia:

Human rights in North Korea are heavily restricted. There is no right to free speech, and the only radio, television, and news providers that are deemed legal are those operated by the government.[1][2] It is estimated that between 150,000 and 200,000 political prisoners are detained in concentration camps, where they perform forced labour and risk summary beatings, torture and execution.

The following section is a direct quote from the United Nation’s Human Rights Resolution 2005/11 referring specifically to occurrences in North Korea:

Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, public executions, extra judicial and arbitrary detention, the absence of due process and the rule of law, imposition of the death penalty for political reasons, the existence of a large number of prison camps and the extensive use of forced labour;

All-pervasive and severe restrictions on the freedoms of thought, conscience, religion, opinion and expression, peaceful assembly and association and on access of everyone to information, and limitations imposed on every person who wishes to move freely within the country and travel abroad;

Continued violation of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of women, in particular the trafficking of women for prostitution or forced marriage, ethnically motivated forced abortions, including by labour inducing injection or natural delivery, as well as infanticide of children of repatriated mothers, including in police detention centres and labour training camps.

MOODY BLUES

Read this BBC report of the Moody’s  downgrade of the UK’s credit rating and you would think it was all over, UK PLC is done for…or as the BBC put it …Osborne’s  ‘Gamble failed’.

Despite putting in the basic facts from the report the tone adopted by the BBC is downbeat and defeatist with an emphasis on an economy with ‘significant  “challenges” ’ …though Moodys itself doesn‘t use the word ‘Significant‘ …..except in the positive sense as it says itself:  ‘the UK’s creditworthiness remains extremely high, rated at Aa1, because of the country’s significant credit strengths.’

Read Moody’s actual press release and you will see a much more upbeat analysis of the UK economy…. supporting Osborne’s  ‘strong track record of fiscal consolidation and political will.

Look at the growth figures from 2010 Q4 up until 2012 Q4  and they paint a different picture to that painted by Balls and the BBC of no growth or even contraction:

The total positive growth for the period is 2.6%.
The total negative growth for the period is -1.2%

The sum total then is a positive growth of 1.4%….slow and low but not ‘failing’ and certainly not ‘contracting’ as the BBC so often state..

Look at the GDP figures since 2006.….they show that even after the deepest recession since the ’30’s we have a GDP above that in 2006:
In 2006 we had a GDP figure (£m) of 353,777

In 2009 Q2 (The height of the recession) GDP was 349,261

In 2012 Q4 GDP was 360,483

Finally there’s the issue of Moody’s own credibility…..

The BBC has always attacked these credit rating agencies but  seems happy to take the opportunity to give Osborne a dig.

However I did laugh when I heard this this morning from ‘Wake Up to Money’ (26 mins) from Mickey Clark in relation to the credit rating agencies:

They’re not regulated, they have got a lot of vested interests…and they got away scot free over the banking crisis.’

Or was he talking about the Labour Party!

Clean Energy…A Dirty Dirty Business

The BBC is at the heart of the corrupt political scheming that fills the pockets of politicians and their landowning friends with millions of pounds and  the Green industries they back whilst those whose pockets have been rifled by greedy, duplicitous or ignorant politicians have to turn down the heating and switch off the lights.

The BBC has backed the Green lobby and ignores the corrupt politicians….when your fuel bill arrives you can be assured that not only are you paying £145 for the privilege of watching the BBC you are also paying through the nose for fuel because of that self same BBC.

Labour’s Ed Miliband started it all off with his industrial suicide policy committing Britain to cuts in CO2 of 80%.

It should be remembered that under Labour far more industry was destroyed than under  the long Tory reign but you’d never guess from the BBC’s coverage of that era.

The massive political attack on industry and the Public’s wage packet conducted through corrupt energy policies is gathering pace as rich landowner’s  bank accounts bulge with subsidised payments for allowing wind turbines on their land.

Politicians ride the wave of money themselves...corrupt morally, intellectually and financially, working simultaneously for Green industry  pocketing large payments whilst pushing through legislation that is favourable to these industries.

Britain is teetering on the verge of industrial and social collapse as blackouts loom due to the increasingly onerous, ‘unbelievably aggressive CO2 reduction targets’ that will plunge us into a new dark Ages where industry flees the Country and the Public cannot afford to heat their homes or drive to work.

The Green lobby is set on destroying industry in the UK whilst China and India pump out vast and increasing quantities of CO2  that make our own emissions look insignificant.

MPs are ignorant or corrupt and sign up to these policies out of misguided and ignorant good intentions or a malevolent disregard for the common good as they fill their own pockets as they help themselves to the Public’s money voting in ever increasing payments to energy companies.

At the heart of all this is the BBC and its huge, powerful, one sided backing for the Green lobbyists.

The capture of the BBC and its enormous and influential propaganda platform by the Greens was  a victory without compare.  It has meant practically no opposition to the green steamroller as the BBC is the most powerful, respected and trusted broadcaster with enormous ability to define the narrative.

‘The “capacity to define potential risks and hazards is broadly aligned with the distribution of power among ‘credible,’ ‘authoritative,’ and ‘legitimate’ definers of ‘reality’ across the media field.”  ‘
‘….the BBC [is] widely seen as an international leader in terms of balance, independence, and clarity. It is viewed as hegemonic within British broadcasting, helping to dictate the limits of what might be considered “news” in mainstream reporting.‘  Dr Joe Smith

The BBC decided that CO2 is a problem and has relentlessly pumped out propaganda to persuade or batter the Public into accepting that and the consequent measures needed to tackle the ‘problem’.

The BBC has brought into the fold many in academia, the arts and industry as they fall victim to the ‘consensus’, the manufactured consent that the BBC works so hard to enforce, people with doubts unwilling to stand out and be labelled as  ‘deniers’.

Many I’m certain are not actual believers in man made global warming but are forced into acceptance by the ‘moral obligation’, the guilt that is placed upon them by the likes of the BBC which is an expert at manipulating images and perceptions linking man’s actions to natural disasters which in reality have extremely tenuous links.

Had the BBC done its job properly and not become an active propagandist for the Green lobby we might not now have MPs so willing and able to vote for the ‘consensus’ too afraid or too self interested to stand up and oppose this lunacy.

The BBC, ever ready to highlight ‘Big Business’ funding of climate sceptics, has refused pointblank to be similarly rigorous when it involves those who support the Cause.

Is it any wonder that they feel free to sit on committees that decide energy policy whilst pocketing green industry cash?  They can dismiss newspaper reports as a ‘rightwing’ agenda…because of course the leftwing papers won’t report the corruption as they support the policies and the BBC looks the other way.

How to change the BBC and make it return to ethical journalism not green activism?

Write to your MP.

Maybe not!

That illustrates the problem with the BBC, it is unaccountable.  Even now after ‘Savile’ it rides on essentially unaffected.  A few bad headlines, a few waves at the top as there is a shuffle of jobs to make it look like something is being done but this time next year it will be more of the same, the innate leftwing biased reporting, the support for climate change and a disregard for any complaints.

The BBC are confident that they are unassailable as politicians are either in tune with the BBC ethos or are too scared to attempt to change it…or hopeful of getting a job there when falling on hard times.  If ever there was an opportunity you might think it is now in the wake of ‘Savile’ but that was a failure of internal corporate procedure not of its political values and activities…..the BBC knows that and sails on regardless pumping out anti-government information and pro climate change hype recognisng no politician dare speak out, let alone act against it in any meaningful way.

The real criteria for the jobs….a willingness to work for enormously rewarding remuneration and a gold plated pension, a desire for generous legal funding should your underlings let you down, a hands off approach to management and the ability to stay calm in a crisis by keeping above the mêlée, and the delegation of blame…sorry…responsibility downwards to your staff demonstrating trust in their abilities.

Should you be successful in your application BiasedBBC look forward to a long and successful career for you and hope you  can pass along some useful gossip before you go native and are subsumed by the BBC culture and comfortable lifestyle that seduces people into surrendering their principles in exchange for life in the BBC bubble.

…and remember this is of critical importance:

…ensuring that the BBC always holds the trust of the people who pay for it…..and demonstrate a clear understanding of the public service ethos of the BBC.

True Lies

SAS Trooper Malayan Emergency

The BBC have been forced to admit that their usual hugely damaging anti-British rhetoric is wrong.

The BBC ever ready to do down our own troops whilst giving favourable coverage to terrorists has been proven wrong as it tried to rewrite hsitory as Christopher Booker reports in the Telegraph:

‘There are few more futile exercises in this world than trying to get the BBC to admit it has got anything wrong. Normally, after a series of fruitless exchanges with apparatchiks in the BBC Complaints Unit, each more dead-bat than the last, most people give up in despair. Not so Henry Keown-Boyd, who was aggrieved to hear the BBC news reporting last April on how, in the Fifties, Britain had “brutally suppressed” an “uprising against British rule” in Malaya.

Having served in Malaya for 15 months as an officer in the Hussars, Mr Keown-Boyd was keenly aware that, far from this being a typical nationalist uprising, British and local Malay forces had for 12 years fought a textbook jungle campaign to prevent the country being ruthlessly taken over by a small ethnic minority of Chinese communists, who were given full support by both Mao’s and Stalin’s dictatorships. No one was keener to see off this vicious threat than the Malays themselves, who finally ended the rising in 1960, three years after winning peaceful independence from Britain.

So determined was Mr Keown-Boyd to get the BBC to set the record straight that, after nine months of the usual “get lost” replies, he has finally received a three-page letter from Fraser Steel, Head of BBC Complaints, to say that their researches “support the view that this was an inaccurate and materially misleading way of describing the Malay Emergency”. Well done, Mr Steel.

But knowing the BBC staff’s usual Guardianista view of British historical events that happened before most of them were born, I suspect this may not be the last time that better-informed listeners will have cause for amazed alarm at how little they seem to know.’

How many years before the BBC recognises that their pro-Palestinian view of the Middle East is an ‘inaccurate and misleading way of describing the conflict there.’

Britain’s Secret Services….MI5, MI6 and The BBC

Whilst Britain’s spy chiefs have opened up the files and become more open and transparent our purveyor of light entertainment and world news has battened down the hatches in a move worthy of Stalin’s KGB.

But that is not the first example of extremely disturbing Institutional self interest on the part of the BBC.

The BBC is never happier than when chasing down those who don’t uphold the values of an open and accountable deomocratic society…..

CIA report with sections redacted

A report by the CIA’s own inspector general compiled in 2004, which had previously been published only in a heavily redacted form (so much of the text was blanked out that it was rendered incomprehensible), has now been placed in the public domain on the orders of a federal judge.’

….But whilst the BBC demands that the Intelligence Services reveal whether they have been involved in torture the BBC itself has refused to disclose whether its journalists have been engaged in conduct which led to the death of Jews or contributed to the atmosphere that leads Jews around the world to live in constant fear of being attacked….and that includes Jews in progressive Britain.

The BBC was forced to conduct a review of its Middle East coverage by pressure from the Israeli government.   The Balen Report was the result.  We have never been allowed to see that Report.

So secret, so presumably disturbing and of such calamitous findings, that it has been buried.  The BBC spent £300,000 to stop publictaion of this review of its journalism.

We have seen the damage that suppression of information does when institutions seek to hide their failings.   Thousands can die.  How many die because of the BBC?

Stafford Hospital: Hiding mistakes ‘should be criminal offence’

NHS staff should face prosecution if they are not open and honest about mistakes, according to a public inquiry into failings at Stafford Hospital.  Years of abuse and neglect at the hospital led to the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of patients.  But inquiry chairman, Robert Francis QC, said the failings went right to the top of the health service.

Hiding journalistic ‘mistakes’ should also be classified as crimes…if the mistakes are a result of deliberate bias.

If the Rotten Patten doesn’t release this report he should be removed.

If Tony Hall doesn’t publish this report he should be sent packing…..and not with a year’s pay.

FOR PEAT’S SAKE

The BBC want to talk to the Taliban but they don’t want to talk to climate sceptics.

If you’re a God fearing Taliban commander who has killed British soldiers you’re guaranteed a slot on the Today programme, if you’re someone who blasphemously denies Co2 kills polar bears you can go hang.

Two things:

Wind farms will create more carbon dioxide, say scientists

Thousands of Britain’s wind turbines will create more greenhouse gases than they save, according to potentially devastating scientific research to be published later this year.

‘Nothing off-limits’ in climate debate’

THE UN’s climate change chief, Rajendra Pachauri, has acknowledged a 17-year pause in global temperature rises, confirmed recently by Britain’s Met Office, but said it would need to last “30 to 40 years at least” to break the long-term global warming trend.

Dr Pachauri, the chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said that open discussion about controversial science and politically incorrect views was an essential part of tackling climate change.

Isn’t it time the debate started again and the latest science admited?

And when it does start wouldn’t it be time for Roger Harrabin to start looking for a new job?

Why London and other cities could be “doomed”

As you turn up the heating you must remember…snow, icy artic winds and spring delayed….. this is only ‘weather’.  The underlying trend is an ever increasing heating of the Globe bringing with it apocalyptic extremes of climate variously burning and drowning the world in a Biblical scourge of the guilty gassers.

The BBC’s latest tale of grim retribution by Mother Nature has the revelation that you’d better dig out your water wings….we’re gonna drown folks…washed away by a Tsunami of ever rising tides as the massed bodies of dead polar bears force sea levels to rise engulfing us in floods that would have had Noah setting to work.

Former Vice President Al Gore summed up this view when he wrote: “Every night on the news now, practically, is like a nature hike through the book of Revelations.

The Drowning City

In October last year, Hurricane Sandy ripped into New York, taking lives, sparking a huge fire, flooding subways and tunnel connections and leaving thousands without power for days.

Isabel Hilton reports on the aftermath of the hurricane in New York. As sea levels are predicted to keep rising, she looks at what New York and other threatened coastal cities might do to prepare for future storms.

Hurricane Sandy was a wake up call to New York and to many other coastal cities that have to face the reality of rising sea levels and increased chances of hurricanes and storm surges.

And if you think  ‘New York…so what?’…you’d be so so wrong…..

Why London could be “doomed”

Isabel Hilton reports on the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in New York.

She speaks to Irwin Redlener, MD of The National Center for Disaster Preparedness and seismologist Klaus Jacobs who tells her why rising sea levels mean London and other cities could be “doomed”.

Is Hurrican Sandy the result of global warming?  Is there a rise in extreme climate?
New Report: ‘Extreme Weather Report 2012’: ‘Latest peer-reviewed studies, data & analyses undermine claims that current weather is ‘unprecedented’ or a ‘new normal’

Guess not.

The BBC’s whole case is based on the Earth warming …so how does it explain the fact that it hasn’t warmed for at least 17 years….as even the IPPC’s boss, Rajendra Pachauri now admits.….no warming…how can there be extreme weather caused by warming if there is no warming? ….and if so why aren’t we talking about it…especially as Pachauri says:

Nothing off-limits’ in climate debate’

THE UN’s climate change chief, Rajendra Pachauri, has acknowledged a 17-year pause in global temperature rises, confirmed recently by Britain’s Met Office, but said it would need to last “30 to 40 years at least” to break the long-term global warming trend.
Dr Pachauri, the chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said that open discussion about controversial science and politically incorrect views was an essential part of tackling climate change.

And it seems others have long had doubts about the alarmism:

The UK Guardian’s Leo Hickman, a prominent media activist for man-made global warming, was embarrassed by Gore’s extreme weather link to man-made global warming linkage.

“I was a little nervous this morning logging into Climate Reality…And, I have to say, my heart immediately sank,” when viewing it, Hickman wrote. Hickman asked: “Is Gore now a help or hindrance to global warming cause?” See: Hickman on Gore’s ‘Death by PowerPoint’— “I have suffered this torture too many times over the years…[Gore’s show had] slide after slide of extreme weather events…& linking everyone, it seemed, to rise in [man-made] emissions…that is a very contentious peg on which to hang your hat…That kind of talk traditionally requires lots of caveats and careful explaining. Done with abandon and raw emotion – as this presenter seemed to be doing – and you are quickly labeled in some quarters as a climate ‘alarmist.’”

The Full Monty Python

Comic Relief came early to R4 this week with the release of a Monty Pythonesque sketch in the form of an interview by Evan Davis with Danny Alexander.

Alexander provided the straightman to Evan’s very own comedy double act….What was the ‘gag’?  Evan interviewing Evan…Alexander didn’t have to say much just providing a sounding board for Evan’s commiedy genius.

Contrast that with Humphry’s interview with Balls where it was the politician providing the comic lines…surely practising for pantomine.    Whilst Davis was full of his own genius Humphrys took it easy and Balls got a pretty easy ride.

No wonder the Tories are complaining saying:

“It is beyond a joke,” the source said “It all looks far too cosy.”

“How is it possible not to think that is biased?”

A BBC spokesman said: “Our coverage of government policy is approached in the same independent and impartial way as our coverage of any story.”

The BBC also said an individual’s personal views did not impact on their ability to carry out their work in an impartial manner and there were strict guidelines which must be observed at all times.

That’s the funniest thing to come out of the BBC in years.

YOUR OPINIONS MATTER

“The worst thing would be if we ended up in three years with an acutely polarised social situation in a Western country, and the entire elite going: ‘Where the heck did this come from? Who is the bloke with a small moustache?’

You’ve got to arm yourself against these eventualities.”
Paul Mason, BBC
It must be with such a directive in mind that the BBC has set itself on a course of opposition to Authority, State regulation and administration, and civic order.

The BBC has stepped over the line and has joined forces with the Anarchists.

‘If they say I am a criminal then…I…will be one.’

‘I don’t care who you are….Your opinions matter.’

Those are two quotes which rounded off a BBC Storyville programme eulogising Anarchy:

How Hackers Changed the World: We Are Legion

This was more than a mere investigation or exposé, it was acclaiming, extolling, singing the praises of the hacker group Anonymous and associated like minded souls such as, naturally, Occupy…..for they are…

…contributing towards democracy around the world…..making a stand against censorship….it’s a very noble thing.’
Ironic from an organisation that does everything it can to limit free debate on immigration, Europe, Islam and Labour’s economic record.

The whole tone of the programme was one of subdued admiration and pleasure at their activities….an undertone of silent approval emanating from it.

Not  only did it signal approval and endorsement of their actions the programme acted as a recruiting sergeant for them encouraging others of a similar bent to take up arms, or at least a keyboard with a belligerent attitude.

Anonymous are well known for their cyber attacks on whomever they perceive to be the ‘enemy’ acting against their world view by adopting various measures to ridicule, close down or just cause as much inconvenience and cost as possible to, in order to advance their political agenda.

The BBC’s attitude here is in stark contrast to its position towards the hackers who obtained the CRU emails…the BBC denounced them as criminals who had stolen the emails and claimed they were committing an act of political sabotage against the Copenhagen Climate conference.

Even within the programme there is a change of tone when the ‘hacker’ turns out to be ‘The Man’….someone who wanted to take down ‘WikiLeaks’ by cyber attacks and sabotage, the same techniques used by Anonymous….suddenly such acts were ‘villainous’. (43 mins in…Aaron Barr from HBGary)

David (Preiser) posted this link:
On the media: The protesters toolkit – revolutionary apps    which shows how the BBC are involved quietly behind the scenes in activism, even anarchism.

We know Paul Mason has a soft spot for the anarchist from whom he has learnt a lot and that he freely admits he is “very enthusiastic about people challenging entrenched ideologies”:

‘I was inspired by an evening in the pub with the anarcho-squatters at London’s Really Free School. When I went to speak to them, I found a sign on their door saying “journalists f**k off” – they were pretty strict about enforcing it too. But they invited Mason to the pub. “Actually, they taught me a lot.” he says.
“The greatest source of hope for me is to see a generation rising who think all forms of hierarchical ideological activity are rubbish.

It seems that the BBC is out to encourage more such anarchy and protest and is here to help the budding anarchist to do so safely without fear of having his collar felt:

In association with BBC College of Journalism
Governments and security forces are becoming increasingly wise to the role of social media in organising and enhancing protest movements. As a result they are developing new ways to block, hack and track citizens tweets, Facebook and other social media tools in order to prevent unrest.
Protesters and citizen journalists the world over are able to stay one step ahead, however with the help of Open Source developed phone apps that allow them to communicate effectively without being tracked as easily.
Protestors can now safely share information without fear of identification.
But will apps really protect protesters, and are they any safer than traditional social media? What do mobile apps mean for citizen journalism? Join us at the Frontline Club for a lively debate about the latest technology for protesters and citizen journalists and how far technology could go in making protest safer and smarter.

What you won’t be surprised to read is that this is also in association with the Guardian in its  ‘Guardian Project’:

About the Guardian Project
Secure Mobile Apps and Open-Source Code for a Better Tomorrow

While smartphones have been heralded as the coming of the next generation of communication and collaboration, they are a step backwards when it comes to personal security, anonymity and privacy. The Guardian Project aims to create easy to use apps, open-source software libraries and operating system modifications, and customized mobile devices that can be used and deployed around the world, by any person looking to protect their communications and personal data from unjust intrusion and monitoring.

It is not an oddity that the BBC is so in love with such figures and organisations such as Occupy and Anonymous.

They give them endless favourable coverage because their causes align with the BBC’s own world view.

How do other groups fare who do not similarly align with the BBC’s opinions?  The BBC is after all impartial, fair and unbiased and should reflect all persuasions in its coverage.

That does not happen.  Climate change sceptics, protesters against mass immigration, people who doubt the wisdom of being so closely tied to Europe, Jews, Tories and UKIP have no chance of getting a fair hearing from the BBC or a fair opportunity to state their own case.

It is not just the BBC that acts in such a way, it happens in Germany also.

Der Spiegel reports on the German Far Right’s attempt to circumvent such censorship by adopting the methods of the Left in protesting, activism and presentation:

‘Right-wing extremists in Germany are copying the methods of the leftist protest culture. Wearing masks like those of activists with the group “Anonymous,” they are organizing flash mobs and posting rousing videos online to attract young new supporters.’

This video shows a Far Right group  that has taken on the mantle of the left‘s ‘Anonymous’ protesters and wrapped it up in a polished video.

If the Far Right start to hide their ulterior motives as the Left do and present themselves as reasoned and peaceful protesters will they get a voice on the BBC as the Far Left and Muslim extremists do or does the BBC’s activism and belief in giving voice to the people whatever their opinion only extend to those it approves of?

Would the BBC be so enamoured of Anonymous if they came after the BBC and closed their operations down…after all the BBC is ‘The Establishment’ when all is said and done?
