THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING POLAR BEARS.

Having experienced perhaps the best of the BBC earlier today, I happened to pick up on the worst of it about half an hour ago. I was listening to 5 Live (I know, I deserve all I get) and there was yet another of the interminable “the polar bears are all dying out and it’s all OUR fault” stories. The programme, Weekend News, is presented by John Pienaar and Dalya Raphael and the new angle is that (some) polar bears are shrinking in size. This is proof how perilous their condition has become because of all that missing Arctic ice and it seems that US forecasts that Polar bears may be extinct by 2050 are too…optimistic! No mention of that fact that 11 out of the 13 polar bear populations in Canada are either stable or growing. The trash science and alarmism that 5 Live pumps out is very disappointing. I also see that as further evidence of 5 Live high standards, Vicky Pollard will be interviewing Paul Gascoigne tomorrow. Can’t wait!

IN THE BELLY OF THE BEAST…

So, I was on a BBC programme this morning and I thought I would share my experience with you. The programme is called “Sunday Sequence” on BBC Radio Ulster and it is covers a range of topical issues from moral, political, theological points of view. I was on to discuss the issue of how Northern Ireland (and by extension the UK) responds to the recession – is it right to have “British jobs for British workers”. Also on the panel to discuss this was a local economist, John Simpson, and the head of the Equality Commission, Bob Collins. (He was in Dublin, where he lives, natch).

I arrived in time for some green room hospitality. Having checked to ensure Jo Brand was not hiding anywhere – eavesdropping in on me – I had a coffee and chatted with Mr Simpson ( a decent cove who was my Economics lecturer years ago when I was at University). We were called into the studio just after 9.30am and went “live” shortly thereafter. I felt it was a good natured debate and I was allowed to express my anti-EU opinion together with my contention that the State has a duty to ensure the economic well-being of its citizens ahead of foreign nationals. The other two contributors did not really agree with my view but at least I was given the chance to state it, without interruption. Time flew by and after 15 mins that was it. I thanked the host – William Crawley – my fellow studio guest Mr Simpson – and strolled out into a fresh Spring Sunday morning. Was there bias? Not really and indeed I would single this programme out for being true to Reithian values insofar as it is not as rampantly biased as most others!

HATE CRIME.

I was reading this BBC report concerning the decision by the Northern Ireland assembly not to prosecute DUP MLA Iris Robinson over comments she made about homosexuals last year. Robinson, chair of the Stormont health committee, called for homosexuals to seek psychiatric counselling.

Now, a few points; 1. I have no time for Mrs Robinson or her awful party. 2. I passionately believe in free speech. 3.This BBC item presents the issue purely in terms of the militant gay lobby screeching for Robinson to be prosecuted for hate crime versus the DUP chiming Iris is innocent. What about the views of us who are neither gay nor DUP (or even both!!) but who see that there is something inherently wrong in preventing the expression of opinion in the public sphere just because it offends one small but vocal minority. Why do WE not get a say on this? Is it because you can tell that the BBC line is very much in line with the gay lobbyists and whilst they cannot be overt about this, they seek to suggest that only the DUP are in favour of free speech?

SINISTER RUGBY

Don’t know if you are a rugby fan but if you do share my enthusiasm for the game you may well be tuning in later today when the final chapter of the 6 Nations is played out. The climax is the game between Wales and Ireland at the excellent Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. So, how does the BBC cover this? Simple; they drag on some feminazi who finds the singing by the crowd of the well known song “Delilah” ….”sinister.” It seems the lyrics could encourage male violence. Oh my goodness, WHY do we have to pay for this? In what world is this a major story – it was on at prime-time 8.20am. Is there NOTHING else the BBC could have covered? It’s uber leftie politically correct feminazi drivel and I hope the crowd will belt out the words of the song and that the game is a great spectacle for all who watch it. I’m sure some Beeboid will be wondering why there are no women playing in either team!

NEVER MIND THE MURDERED – FEEL THE MURDERERS PAIN

I was reading this report on the BBC NI portal and it sickens me insofar as the way in which it is written tries to portray the police as villains when in fact all they are seeking to do is to apprehend the brutal killers of Police Constable Carroll, murdered by the “I can’t believe it’s the IRA” last week. Alex Maskey, a convicted bank robber and senior Sinn Fein spokesman (What could be more normal than that?) is allowed to pontificate about the wrongness of the police investigation and then one of the myriad pro-Republican human rights parasites in the shape of Mike Ritchie from the Campaign Against Justice, (as I like to call them) weighs in to support the Maskey line. The BBC cannot seem to find any other politicians who support the decision by the police to question these alleged republican killers for seven days. Maybe they could try and look just a little harder, I am certain they are out there.

FRIDAY IS OBAMA DAY.

Gotta love Today. This morning I heard Thought for The Day pass off Obama’s teleprompter gaffe on St Patrick’s Day as proof he is human (don’t recall Bush getting the same generosity?) and then the BBC ran the spin that Obama “couldn’t believe” that AIG were going to pay out bonuses. Since the legal provision for this was signed into law by Obama, and drafted by a senior Democrat, he is either incompetent or else he is lying – which is it and why does the BBC choose to swallow the entire Obama propaganda line? Bias – it’s always there.

QUESTION TIME LIVE BLOG

.

Just a few hours before this goes live, I do hope you can join us for an hour of topical dissection of the BBC’s leading political “debating” programme. Your suggestions for this evening’s question?

QUESTION TIME LIVE!

Just to say we will be live later this evening for our weekly indulgence of Question Time. Fern Britton??? (I would have preferred Holly Willoughby I have to say if we are going to have presenters posing as political pundits ) Vince Cable – a biased BBC favourite graces the screen as does Fattie Clarke. Douglas Murray should be good and we can all have a laugh at the wretched Tessa Jowell! BTW – did anyone else hear Harriet Har-person being interviewed on 5 Live at lunchtime. What a man-hating enterprise-loathing crone she is – and such an easy ride from her pals on 5 Live.

BURYING ISRAEL.

Well, it’s just too good an opportunity to miss, isn’t it? Israeli troops brutally murdering innocent Palestinians – hold the front page. The thing is that until an IDF investigation has concluded, this is mere anonymous speculation. If it is proven true, the IDF will deal with those found guilty. If it turns out to be as specious as much other media driven hostility towards Israel, then can we expect the BBC to report that with as much enthusiasm as they drool over this? Further, the BBC headline implies this abuse of peace-loving Gazans as a fact, it is nothing of the sort, it is an allegation.
