‘Although you may tolerate Islam, Islam might not tolerate you.’
Yesterday Nicky Campbell asked ‘Would you support an amnesty for Jihadists?’
This was the day after David Cameron denounced such people as ‘enemies of the UK’ and repeated his intention to tackle not just violent Islamists but those who support such Islamists.
Last month he told us that…
“the root cause of this threat to our security is clear: it is a poisonous ideology of Islamic extremism that is condemned by all states.”
A shame then that Campbell’s guest speaker to guide our thoughts on whether extremist Islamists should be welcomed back and treated as ‘vicitims’ or not was one Asim Qureshi, Research Director at CAGE whom Campbell described as a ‘former extremist’.
You could perhaps refrain from using the ‘former’ part of that description.
Here he is speaking on behalf of Cage:
“We’ve been a bit politically naive,” he said. “We haven’t questioned some of the underlying assumptions about who Muslims are and what they believe in.”
PREVENT strikes at the heart of the transnational identity that Muslims have, and confuses or shrouds the core principles of Islam which offer genuine alternatives to an aggressive global neo-liberal system.
Note that ‘transnational identity that Muslims have’….in plain language that means Muslims owe no loyalty to the country they live in, their loyalty is to Islam….and Islam that ‘offers a genuine alternative to…..?’ well, to Western democracy.
Qureshi speaks the same language as the ‘extremists’ of ISIS when it comes to Islam and its values.
Here he openly supports the idea of the Caliphate, Shariah and Jihad…those ‘conservative Muslim values’:
The concepts of jihad, shariah and khilafah are not the exclusive possession of ISIS but core Islamic doctrines subscribed to by almost one third’s of the world’s population. No surprise that back in June the Muslim Council of Britain, instigators of the infamous Islamist ‘Trojan Horse’ plot, should have said that Muslims could not be school governors if ‘conservative Muslim’ beliefs were deemed incompatible with British values.
The MCB now seeks to prevent action being taken against radicals:
“They need to be talking to us and others to understand what it is that’s leading these boys down this route,” Khan told the Guardian. “Part of the problem is the constant talk of legislation, harassment and monitoring, stripping people of their passports. This is what’s leading young people towards radicalism.”
The last thing the government needs is to be talking to, and taking advice from, a extremist group like the MCB….despite the MCB’s claim that ‘They would love to help rather than obstruct.”
Similarly the last thing the BBC should be doing is bringing on a man whose group supports the ‘extremist’ ideology and presenting him as a ‘moderate, reformed Muslim extremist’.
Has Campbell learned nothing from his mistaken love affair with Mo Ansar?

The BBC, in promoting the views of Asim Qureshi, is providing a platform for the extremists, if that is, we are defining ‘extremists’ as those who wish to impose ‘conservative Muslim Values’ upon the world rather than limiting the label to those who are violent.
From what Qureshi says about Jihad, the Caliphate and Sharia it is quite clear he supports such conservative Muslim beliefs. It would have taken the BBC 10 minutes to check his beliefs, he doesn’t hide them.
Qureshi’s own words are a perfect description of the BBC’s failure to do the legwork and find out those beliefs:

But was it ‘naivety’ or stupidity or a deliberate move to promote Qureshi and Cage’s views in the full knowledge of what they are?
If so Cameron has a much harder task than he thinks if he wants to tackle the ‘poisonous ideology’ of Islamist extremism when the national broadcaster is itself, once again, promoting it.

It is, after all, so easy to tolerate what does not immediately affect you, and it’s nice to feel that one is liberal about Islam. But the lesson I’ve learnt is that we’re going to have to fight for our progressive democracy, because although you may tolerate Islam, Islam might not tolerate you. When it lives in your house, eats your food, sleeps under your roof, enjoys all the comforts you provide, all the while despising you, then you will be forced to make a choice.
The BBC has made its choice.

There is no such thing as moderate Islam and no such thing as Extremist Islam. There is ONLY Islam as written in the Haddith of the Qu’ran and the Sun’nah. (I know this, because several Islamic scholars have told me this) To see what those texts preach, you only have to see what is happening inside the Islamic State, which is their Caliphate, run by the Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who has a Ba, MA and Phd in Islamic Studies (so I think it is safe to postulate that he knows a tad more about Islam than Therasa May does), according to the literal interpretation of the Haddith. Everything in the Islamic State is done according to Sharia Law. Every part of Civic life, every trade transaction, every birth, death, and marriage, every criminal investigation, every prosecution, every bit of every single part of civic society is managed according to Islamic Law. It is Islamic puritanism. There is none of it at all, which is not Islamic.

You are right regarding the fact that there is only Islam. No Western Islam, no Eastern Islam, no extreme Islam and no moderate Islam.
However ISIS/ISIL/IS are not a true Caliphate but a bogus one. In order for them to fulfill the criteria for that status they would have to FIRST & FOREMOST liberate the Hejaz from its current rulers. (I choose the word “liberate” carefully). The Caliph in order to be a Caliph must have direct control over the Hajj and for that he needs control over the Hejaz. (The “Caliph” with all his degrees would know that!) I do not think that ISIS/ISIL/IS are going to bite the hand that feeds them. Do you?

Everything done in the “Islamic State” is not done according to Sharia Law. Murdering people because they are Christian or Shia is strictly against Islam. You may dismiss this as “Taqqiyya”. So be it.

Identifying the moderate Muslim from the fundamental one, is a very difficult task.
It is going to get much harder as time goes by. Not only will the fundamenatlist Muslim speak English or Danish with the same degree of fluency as a native, but that the funadmentalist Muslim will adopt mannerisms and attitudes, that will beguile any attempt to unmask him. The other thing to note is that the moderate Muslim can, at a moments notice, become a fundamentalist.

Let us consider the situation that moderate Muslims prove that the correct interpretation of Islam was the moderate one (whatever that is). They even go further and make the changes in their teachings of the Koran and the Jihad. Such an outcome would no doubt come as a great relief to all. But I counter that all such changes were being done merely to protect the ummah while it grows at ever-increasing pace in the West (Taqqiya rules). Once a near majority is achieved, that future generation of Muslims will simply revoke any changes and return to the traditions of the Koran. They will even praise this generation of Muslims for having done what was necessary to protect Islam.
Therefore, the distinction between moderate Muslims and radical Muslims is meaningless; it is of no help to us.
Islam takes the long view – in several decades or centuries, or more. It is only right that we consider long term options, keeping in mind Islam’s long-term goals.

Not sure why do BBC keep having CAGE on. One of them was on radio 4 earlier this week. Justin Webb was interviewing him and trying to come up with a nuanced argument about the complexity of what Begg was doing in Syria , something to do with working with fighting in Syria but helping against Assad. The fella from cage was playing along with it for a bit and clearly twisting words to try and pretend Begg wasn’t mixing with the wrong ‘uns.
Then it all went a bit pear shaped. The cage fella went off the narrative and into a Rant that Webb couldn’t rescue him from.
