to readers and fellow posters for my absence. I had a very busy period and then I was ill. I am afraid I am not up to posting or dealing with emails at the moment.
Did the slack-bladders at the Beeb with all their resources get any pictures of the actual arrests of suspects today? ITN have been showing film of the actual arrests, looks like from a balcony or window opposite where it was all happening.
The BBC seem to be playing ‘witness’ statements over and over mixed in with general footage of police milling about.
They didnt want to offend anyone with images of arrests. Or highlight brave officers risking their backsides on accurate intelligence ..and upset the victim brigade.
Eh? Only recent VC-winning soldier I can think of is that Caribbean chap who nearly died in Iraq, who I’ve got nothing but respect for.
Damn, I wish people would only wish death upon me for things I’ve actually done – you ought to have plenty of material there before you move onto making things up…

You’re not far wrong, as well as show the ethnic origins of those arrested, after all, how will all those ‘moderate’ Muslim leaders living in denial cope?
What’s the bet there will be protests that the police officers got these guys to strip so that they could gander at their privates, and the BBC will run the story?
The BBC’s verdict on the US-Pacific Global Climate Pact Change Thingy (or Asia-Pacific Partnership for Clean Development and Climate) is in, and the verdict is ….. “Shite”.
Would ya believe it? The BBC has actually compared the agreement unfavourably with the Kyoto Agreement on Global Madness.
The whole thing deserves a fisking, but I just love the ending:
Nevertheless, for developing countries seeking a way forward beyond the Kyoto Protocol, it may prove a rather attractive package with its shiny paper of guaranteed economic growth and its ribbons of exciting new technology – perhaps more enticing than the European offering of mandatory targets and sanctions. The question remains, though, whether the attractive exterior hides a gift or a gun for the world’s climate.
I’ve said it before and I’ll continue saying it – I haven’t paid a single penny to the BBC in years and I never will. Am I the only bugger in here who’s realised that their threats are empty? They’re impotent. The Italian army is more scary than the otherwise unemployable idiots at the TV Licencing Idiot Asylum.

No Pete, but I would recommend http://www.tvlicensing.biz for those who may wany further information on the subject.
While I’m here … Harry Hutton was in the Question Time audience on Thursday for the ritual celebration of mass murder, brought to you live on BBC1. I have to admit to not seeing it as I was doing something more important, like shaving my bollocks, or something.
The link doesn’t work so ‘That Huw Edwards is a nice man’ is the piece at
I spent the first 10 minutes of last night’s Question Time Special believing I had been transported back to the post-9/11 edition of the same program, a program so utterly beyond the pale that it made me feel ashamed to be British. The way we started, one could have been forgiven for thinking that everybody, but everybody was responsible for the 7/7 atrocity, apart from the fanatics who actually carried bombs onto trains. “We need to understand why these young men felt so detached, blah, blah…” Self-hating Brits, I’d call them.
And …
Before the show, the director, David Coleman, talked a little about the selection process for the audience. He seemed a genuine enough guy, so I’m inclined to believe he’s being sincere about the efforts they go to in order to get a balance of opinion on the major issues of the day; although, you wouldn’t know it from the anti-war narrative that characterized this and most editions of the show since 9/11.
And this fella’s supposed to be a leftie! I drop in regularly to Harry’s Place and ‘mugged by reality’ is the phrase which springs to mind.
Not quite the whole story. Reading a bit further reveals: An eyewitness told BBC News that plainclothes police “suddenly burst into the main centre of the station and arrested two women”.
“Initially there was obviously a bit of chaos. They tried to push people away and tried to stop people taking pictures with their mobile telephones,” he said.
Damn those police, suddenly bursting into places to prevent potential terrorist attacks. They should obviously make an appointment first; that way they could avoid all that obvious initial chaos business.
The rather freakish BBC Ceefax report carried only the BBC spin version. It’s pathetic; the corporation is riddled with hand-wringing Guardianistas.
.
Haven’t listened to the hilarious Mike Dickin/Johnathan Miller interview on the tvlicensing.biz site.
The best quote from a BBC department head to Dickin back when he used to work for them.
‘Pray for a Labour victory. Because if those Tory bast***s get in, they’ll examine our expenses as never before.’
JiL, Great article on the BBC on the Discover the NEtwork link you posted. I did notice a few errors which I wrote them about to correct. Here’s my message:
Great article on the BBC, however I must point out a few errors. You write:“BBC airs no advertising. Its broadcasts are funded by an annual tax, a “licence fee” levied on every household that owns a television set. The poor and other favored groups are exempted from this tax, and those with only black-and-white TVs pay less than those with color. This tax of approximately $195 per year per color TV household is collected for the government via two private companies. (A similar levy on every household that owned a radio was discontinued in 1971.) Vehicles with sensors prowl British streets to detect the telltale TV set emissions of unlicensed, non-taxpaying viewers, who can be fined or jailed if caught.”
In the first place, the poor are not exempt, in fact they are the most harassed, as TVL agents find them easy prey and most susceptible to their scare tactics. Single mothers have been imprisoned or subjected to a £1000 fine for failure to pay their license fee. Even blind people pay half the license fee. Exemptions are only given to pensioners over the age of 75.
Also, although there is ample BBC propaganda that they have and use TV detectors, there is no actual evidence that this is the case, or that this has ever been used to obtain a search warrant prior to conviction. TVL – (Capita), which is the agency responsible for the BBC protection racket (Get one – or get done) get results by making people believe that they have this technology in service. You can obtain more information on this subject at http://www.tvlicensing.biz which is a site set up to help people avoid paying this unjust and immoral tax to support an unjust and immoral media behemoth.

JiL, Better still, drop him off the end of Beachy Head.
Wow, another recommendation of assassination; it’s gratifying to be so popular.
Better still send the brave soldier that won the VC that he told to fuck off round there.

LOL, wonderful. Please send the hairy cream mess (creamy hair mess?) to john b as reward for his ongoing support of “sane” state corporatism.
But bear in mind that ignoring the State/BBC/TVL (same thing) won’t succeed if you have a telly visibly in operation from the street.
Offering no evidence whatsoever is the only successful strategy currently available.

From Pete_London’s link to the BBC’s Kyoto mantra
The European Union believes such a treaty must include mandatory, binding cuts in greenhouse gas emissions.
The EU expects the UK & Germany to provide the cuts, leaving no requirement to cut emissions by such as France – & even then they are failing.
Do the BBC ever expose the hypocrisy of the failure to comply by the signatories of Kyoto?
2 people killed in Basra.
Main interview on BBC 24 “Is it getting more dangerous in Basra BY THE DAY?”
They are incorrigible. They seem to WANT the coalition to fail, always have.
