Turning away briefly from the issue of BBC bias

, many of the nation’s younger telly-taxpayers have been bemused this morning (and will be again tomorrow morning), because the usual fare of children’s holiday entertainment has been pulled from BBC2, to be replaced with continuous coverage of the World Athletics Championships 2005. Whoopee, not! If the BBC’s tedious sports coverage matters so much, why not drop the endlessly repeated CelebrityHomeCookingAuctionMakeover Show from BBC1 for a change and give us all a break from the irritating tunes, tired clichés and faux-drama therein? Still, going by the BBC’s past performance, it could have been a lot worse.

Quite right. Watching all the old duffers jockeying for position is embarassing. Clarke promising not to be a Socialist, others promising to be better Socialists than Blair and political careers long presumed buried are being exhumed and dusted off. Its the graveyard scene from Michael Jacksons Thriller only its not thrilling and you cant dance to it.

LOL! It’s a pity that the only Tory with Balls is Tebbit. I now think he was right about the “cricket test” and I was wrong.

Yes, & chief among the zombies is Rifkind with those crazy eyes.
How on earth can that man be so arrogant as to think that he could lead the Conservatives back into power?

  4. Allan@Aberdeen says:

Lord Tebbit ran an excellent article in The Spectator about a year ago spilling the beans on the new ‘establishment’ – quango-sitters, human rights lawyers, the bloated government bodies (local, national, EUro – peter Mandelson especially), lefty media non-entities and the people who move about in that stratum; in short, the parasitic class who consume the wealth which others make.
I notice that the BBC always talks up good ol’ Ken (Clarke this time, and not Livingstone). Who is the BBC’s preference for the leader of the ‘cons’? (Worth checking that word in French! It’s appropriate)
My preference is David Davis simply because I’ve read what Rifkind et al have to say. They (Rifkind, Cameron et al) have learnt nothing and can learn nothing.

    Quote from JohninLondon

‘Isn’t it about time the BBC started to stand up for the essence of the British heritage, British culture, the British ethos ?’

No it’s about time the BBC managed to stand up for itself in a free market by going subscription. Then it can say what it likes about anything as far as I’m concerned.

    Simon,

They should do both. However if they do the second, then the first should be a LOT easier.

    Panorama bias claim ‘ludicrous’
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/newswatch/ukfs/hi/newsid_4150000/newsid_4153300/4153356.stm

“The programme was trailed for Sunday, 14 August but has been put back a week because the programme is not yet ready for transmission.

However, the fact that the programme was put back on the same day that Sir Iqbal’s comments were reported in the media led some to suggest there was a link.

For instance, Rhodri Brewer emailed NewsWatch to ask: “Has the fact that you are not broadcasting the Panorama Special… anything to do with today’s report in the Observer that the BBC has been accused of bias by the Muslim Council of Britain?”

Ware has denied this and said the broadcast date had nothing to do with the MCB complaint.”

    Ho, ho, ho!

Totally OT. Martin Rowson, the Times Saturday cartoonist, fond of lovingly inking the liggers and parasites he stumbled across at mejja bashes, has apparently been ‘let go’ by the new Saturday Times editor, a certain George Brock. It has been suggested Rowson’s final cartoon included a parting shot at Brock. If anyone has this and could email it to me, I would be grateful. Thanks.

    Re “Daytime porn”

I noticed that the 196? film “Tom Jones” was shown Sunday lunchtime.

I seem to recall it being regarded as rather racy when first released, possibly with an X certificate.

My, how times have changed, it probably appears very tame now – with perhaps less double entendre than that in many TV ads.

malcolm rifkind is without doubt one of the cleverest people in the conservative party.you maybe right if you mean he is not photogenic enough.he does not pander and does not have a beautifully modulated voice so in that sense he is not suitable.but he is cleverer then the lot of them.

2012. Biased BBC have stormed the BBC office and have taken control of the BBC’s 10 O’Clock News.

Ann Widdecombe stares out at us:

“Good evening. I’m Ann Widdecombe. The glorious Israeli army today resisted calls from snivelling socialist governments across old Europe to withdraw from the West Bank, insisting that it’s expansion to 400 settlements in the occupied territory was definitely written somewhere in the bible, and that anyway, couldn’t the so-called Palestinians live over in Jordan? American president Rick Santorum responded brilliantly by evoking his bestselling 2005 book `It Takes a Family,` insisting that “liberal ideas about right wing governments destroying communities are quaint and outdated, since everyone knows the Arabs do nothing but fight amongst each other anyway, although you have to admire them for their views on homosexuals. Prime minister Brown, he of the snivelling socialist variety, was too busy outlining his campaign for welfare reform, convinced that if he made disabled, mentally ill though clearly workshy layabouts outline to jobcentres at twice daily intervals their `getting back to work` action plan, then we’d all suddenly forgive his Stalinist proposals to crush multi-millionaire company directors under the oppressive boot of a 20p rise in the minimum wage and allow him to continue as our leader…which I’m sure we won’t, valued BBC viewers. We would go over to Orla Guerin for a special report, but we sacked her for treachery (everyone knows the Israeli army would never allow children to be killed in its patriotic operations) so let’s move on to David Davis’s response to Prime minsiter BROON’S latest welfare stealth tax stab at misguided political correctness. David!”

“Hello Ann! All hail the new resistance! Now, I’m sure the prime minsiter means well, but in my day…and I’ll have you know I’m the son of a single parent and grew up on a council estate…we didn’t need to sit about scrounging, just because we had mental illnesses or collapsed lungs or other politically correct words that describe common colds…we got on our bikes and looked for work! I didn’t get a nose like this just by pressing my face to the telly so I could get a better look at Charlie Dimmock’s assets…”

    “David…”

“It’s about values, Ann. Which is why I propose a swift attack on the disease of multicuturalism to lift us out of our hoodie infested doldrums.”

“And what genius measures do you intend to take, my boy?”

“Well, firstly, we should be re-inforcing the message that if you live in Britain, you have to respect our culture. That means less prayers at the mosque and more sponsored outings to the countryside, where they will learn that a healthy countryside way of life doesn’t mean strapping explosives to your body and running for the nearest crowded area, but can also mean absorbing the elements of British culture that truly make us unique…such as farming subsidies, family values, good honest field labour and watching a dog rip an animal limb from limb while drinking the finest, er, French, champagne…”

    “French, David?”

“I was just coming to them, Ann…”

Keep faith, brothers! Keep faith! Our day will come!

    Seamus,

Thanks for highlighting in an unusual way the bias at the BBC.

The year is 2005 and the BBC leans that far left. It’s also funded by the threat of jail.

At least your left-wing post didn’t jail anyone for refusing to pay for rightwingery.

But then allowing choice and freedom isn’t for the little people. What would the leftwing classes do without people to boss around?

What should be in Iraq’s constitution?
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/4146470.stm

FFS! How should we know? Can the Iraqi’s not be left alone to get on with it without the ‘pseudo-intellectuals’ ((c)Davina McCall) at the BBC assuming they know how to run the place?

It’s not as if this part of the world has any claim to be great constitution makers. Maybe the ‘Superpower EU’ should send over their constitution commissioner Valerie d’Estaing to help the Iraqis. Going by EU timetable..that would extend their constitution deadline by at least, oh say 3 years (and counting)…….

Nice point. The BBC introduced their 10pm News item by claiming that the delay in finalising the Iraqi constitution was an “embarrassment” for the USA.

The BBC are not prepared to cut the Iraqi negotiators any slack in seeking to set up a constitution from scratch in a chaotic land.

As Rush Limbaugh once observed, the Left is at its most entertainingly outrageous when its out of power.

Hi all. Not suggesting Bush is/ isn’t good/ great, the OP stated that the BBC ‘hates bush’

It might be that they (‘the media’) are reflecting undoubted – and increased – US/ foreign disquiet with Bush, Congress, the way the Iraq war’s going, etc, etc.

Or indeed it might be that the BBC hates Bush, and is conducting a small-scale propaganda campaign against him, in order to bring down the democratically elected Government of the United States of America.

The latter. The BBC attacks Bush over everything – not just Iraq. They love insulting him.

But they give the Dem party an easy run every time. And if you didn’t think they wanted Kerry to win you must be on another planet.
