“When Katrina hit, they raced in to accuse Bush of racism for not helping black New Orleans”

No Bryan, they reflected the accusations of racism that were made by US politiicans and citizens. It wasn’t the BBC that invented these accuations. Big difference.

Give me a break, Joel. The BBC rushes with indecent haste to report whatever suits its prejudices. Are you really trying to tell us that you haven’t noticed that?

Didn’t Justin Webb admit that he had done his bit to portray a negative image of America?

Even Tony Blair has concluded that the BBC is biased against America. Where do you think he got that impression from? This blog?

The BBC. The Chinese occupation of Tibet and half the story.

Nice fisking. I guess this is just one of those stories for which the BBC deigns to provide a balancing view. After all, they still do the occasional report on the former ruler of Tibet, the Dalai Llama. Good Leftoids that they are, they go along with the gag that he only wants to return to Tibet to be a spiritual leader to the people, and China is just doing religious persecution.

Since the BBC never mentions the fact that China invaded, they get the bonus of not having to mention that the Tibetans were starving under their feudal lord at the time. And so we can all go on pretending that he’s just an innocent holy man (holier than any Christian leader, naturally), and not the last remnant of a feudal system. I guess the BBC is only selectively anti-monarchist.

But it does all seem to add up to a failure of the BBC to inform the viewers properly.

Tibetans go on the rampage and slaughter Chinese immigrants and the bien-pensants in the West tell the Chinese to be kind to the murderers. What would be the attitude of the BBC and their ilk be if Britons or French or Dutch killed Black or Asian immigrants??

    Joel,

Thanks for that link. It’s always amusing when the BBC is forced to admit reality. I just tried to leave the following slightly condescending, slightly obnoxious comment:

“How should you react? Look to your Charter for guidance, and do your jobs properly.
Surely the BBC’s desire to increase its Chinese audience (not to mention the lovely advertising revenue from all those pretty China Tourism ads on BBC America, etc.) should not trump the importance of telling the truth.”

We’ll see if it gets allowed through.
