“Why do so many American jews vote for the DemocRATS?”

Because Jews in the US (much like Jews in the UK if we’re generalising) tend to be relatively affluent, urban professionals and vote accordingly. This demographic leans towards economically centrist and socially liberal politics – i.e. closer to the dems in the US and (I’d guess) stampeding towards Cameron and away from Brown’s leftward lurch in the UK.

“its a serious moral issue that offends and indeed, appalls a heck of a lot of people in the UK.”

I don’t think that’s true at all. There’s a serious moral issue in the UK regarding kids using it as a form of contraception, the appropriate cutoff date and the level of medical authorisation required (from both sides of the debate in the case of the second two) but I don’t think there’s much serious opposition to the right of women to have an abortion?

Re: Obama. For what its worth I reckon that if he gets elected there’ll be a brief period of euphoria in which he makes huge progress on international issues by using his trump card of not being Bush. Thereafter the fact that he’s a complete luddite on trade and will further slow the US (and global) economy will have pissed everyone in Europe right off by 2010, prompting a rash of Blair-esque ‘it could all have been so different’ tearfulness.

If McCain comes in, makes further progress on Iraq and actually (unlike Bush) shows some free market tendencies then all but the most die-hard soapdodging Euro-crusty will have forgotten about the fact that he’s republican once they realise they can afford to ditch Skegness and get back to Benidorm.

The comparison of Obama with Blair is both appropriate and valid as is that with Obamarama and Blairism.

I would suggest a visit to the JibJab USA website for a very highly entertaining film on McCain and the stardust like Obama.
Pity the loony left BBC have no more humour to spare as evidenced by their piss poor entertainment programmes on radio and TV.

I posted a couple of days ago that the REAL news about the campaign is that Obama’s bubble is bursting. Day by day we get a new tracking poll from Rasmussen or Gallup showing that Obama’s lead has dissipated, with some daily blips showing a tie or even McCain a bit ahead. It is criminal that the BBC chooses to ignore all this. Millions of pounds spent on the US operation – and we don’t get the real news if it does not play to Obama.

BBC Woeld Service is now leading with Obama’s energy plan, with a soundbite. How come they didn’t lead when McCain made his major statements on energy ?

As a simple test – how many soundbites of Obama have the BBC carried – and how many McCain ?

I saw only one. And did they mention in the report you saw that the Obamessiah plans to tax those nasty oil companies and redistribute the wealth, giving $1000 back to the masses? They said it just now on BBC World Propaganda America. It just gets worse and worse.

What surprises me is the media over in the states arent carrying stories about Obama refusing to wear the United States of America flag pin and that he doesnt put his hand over his heart when the national anthem is sung.

When you consider that America is usually the worlds most patriotic country, how strange it is that the media isnt covering his lack of patriotism?

For others that would be political suicid, yet this guy, mr teflon, not a whimper.

We went through that one months ago. The Obamessiah claimed that wearing the flag pin had become a substitute for “true patriotism”, and was more like a fashion statement or something. Then he was caught on film wearing it a few days later, at which point he said that the pin was just still on the suit from last time. The media declared it a non-story early on.

Now he wears it sometimes, and sometimes doesn’t. The MSM is so in the tank for him, that they’re down there pushing him back up whenever he goes under. He could carry around Mao’s Little Red Book and the NY Times would come up with an excuse about “trying to understand the world’s next superpower” or some such nonsense.
